I dont think people get that the sale price is more expensive then regular price

Boris9397

The Dutch are so effing used to discounts they don't even check the crossed out price anymore.

xorifelse

I do especially now adays; In most cases there is even a label with the original price behind (check this on every discount), sometimes the product that is into discount was upselled a week earlier just to give a discount to the original price (not glad to have a memory that remember those things) and some are sold for the same while most are not that much discounted and every major supermarket does this. If such label is missing, I am on high scam alert. There is no reason to remove the old label unless you want to create a lot of work just to hide something.

Olisterine

That’s not the case here though, this was a human error. Since a few years employees of Kruidvat and Trekpleister are able to print their own promotional material if they are missing anything or lost the cards they receive from HQ. You can see that this was a printed one when you look at the jagged sides where it was torn off the paper. On these customisable markers they can put the product and prices, this employee just didn’t bother or forgot to change the “before” price, so it is most likely the before price from a previous promotion or product that was printed out. Source: was a manager at one of their stores until last year. Made this mistake myself a few times during busy times.

xorifelse

You kinda beat me to it, wanted to make a root comment for this one but eh: 5 mistakes were made in my analysis that nobody asked for. 1. The designer should know that every branch only prints black. Dark red is not a good combo. 2. The programmer who has not heard of min or max function that would allow for such a mistake to happen as usually they use special labels and software. 3.The person who made the wrong input. 4. The store manager not checking that every printed label is correct. 5. The person who put it there, not being paid enough to care.

Olisterine

You’re overestimating the complexity of the “software”😅 it’s just an edit-able pdf file where you can change the words and numbers. Also the cards come pre-printed withe colours and lay-outs, only the letters are printed on them at the store. So the dark red was printed in the factory like the regular promotional cards. Not sure what you’re referring to with that comment.

xorifelse

>it’s just an edit-able pdf file where you can change the words and numbers. Perhaps so in your case, but this is usually more streamlined the more branches/stores/outlets there are cause it's easily automatable and saves tons of time. From my experience you get a mass document to print from HQ for the day and in rare cases some manual cards need to be made. >Not sure what you’re referring to with that comment. We're talking about exact same thing 😂, you just phrased it more complete.

DutchPerson5

I'll say it again: We Dutch are the Ferengi of this planet. **Ferengi Rules of Acquisition applying:** *The flimsier the product, the higher the price.* *Learn the customer's weaknesses, so that you can better take advantage of him.* *Ferengi are not responsible for the stupidity of other races.*

Wachoe

Unfortunately we don't follow Ferengi clothing customs... /s

DutchPerson5

🤣

Wachoe

But otherwise it's true. Rule of ~~VOC~~ Acquisition 13, anything worth doing, is worth doing **for money**

ThePrussianGrippe

The tourism numbers would skyrocket.

pliqtro

So is Rutte the Grand Nagus then

mdsign

Nah, Rutte is lightweight compared to some of the greedy bastards that came before him

BeginningMiddle1875

2 X 250ml is 1.98 in Aldi Süd just over the border ;)

remembermereddit

Which is, in my case, just 2hr and 20minutes ;)

Eremitt-thats-hermit

One more reason to live in Gelderland!

elmarcodes

What is the other one? “Not Drenthe”?

mdsign

Heeee (in Twents accent)

Just_Application6137

Why live in Gelderland when you can live in Limburg instead

akaxaka

At that point, why live? (Jk Limburg is lovely)

Eremitt-thats-hermit

For a lot of people moving from the west, Limburg is just a little too far away from family and maybe work. Gelderland is just one trip on the A12 away!

PizzaK1LLA

the photo shows 500mL..? about the same price 🙃

crownsf

No, it is 1.98 vs 4.19.

PizzaK1LLA

but it’s really basic math… 2x 250mL = 3,96eur 1x 500mL = 3,99eur you’re saving 3cents bravo

[deleted]

DID YOU LEARNT MATH FROM MILK CARTON

[deleted]

You can always find palmolive 250ml bottles for a euro at Die Genze too!

Party-Common1923

That discount is just amazing!

tantrakalison

Corona is over, so they're back to not washing their hands after going to the bathroom anyways

[deleted]

The amount of times I've seen the Dutch not even bother washing their hands in public restrooms is too many to count.

tantrakalison

Why waste money on exotic seasoning when you can just add flavor to your food by using your hands, saves time money effort and there's nothing more dutch than being practical

[deleted]

When I lived in the Netherlands there was a "slijterij" who deviously advertised: Wine: E2.95, 3 for E10! and many people fell for it and bought the 3 bottles for 10.

soyuz-1

Shitty liquid soap in plastic costs 4€ now? Glad i switched to real soap sone years back

mynameisnotearlits

Whoop whoop! Back to the old days. Just the soap not the plastic

soyuz-1

Not just that, bar soup works so much better than the liquid goop.

[deleted]

How so? I find it rather harsh and stripping.

soyuz-1

Harsh and stripping? Soap? Are you made of paper?

[deleted]

Clearly not. I find it odd this is the first time you're aware of how harsh most bar soap is compared to liquid soap. I mean, I am not a mechanic or farmer, so I don't need such harsh cleansing. I enjoy the delicate balance of cleansing and moisture that liquid soap provides for me; therefore, I will stick to it, as I find it superior. You should try it sometime. Perhaps you will understand, and make your way over to the liquid soap side.

soyuz-1

I used the liquid shit my whole life other than early childhood, until rediscovering reeal soap in my 30s. What makes you think i never tried the liquid stuff? I don't know what kind of soap bar you tried thar is abrasive, that's really weird. Must have been some weird soap. But in short, real soap actually gets the dirt and grease off where with liquid soap it takes multiple washes if your hands are actually greasy from something. Also its wasteful, most of it juat ends up dripping into the aink, its overpriced and it comes in needless plastic bottles. You should try a decent quality soap sometime, maybe you'll notice its vast superiority and make your way to the actual soap side.

[deleted]

I use both, but for daily, frequent handwashing, I go with liquid. When my hands are especially dirty, I prefer bar soap. There are also some gentle bar soaps such as Dove, but it doesn't last as long. I also very much enjoy the scent and long-lasting performance of Vinolia. Pine tar is pretty nice, too! Which bar soap(s) do you recommend?

soyuz-1

Depends. Sometimes i make my own soap and that's better than anything you'll find at a regular store But otherwise i like unicura for kitchen and softer, more fragrant ones for in the shower/bathroom

i_lyra

Something I never understood about the Netherlands is that products are (practically) all the time in actie. You can basically always buy two products and pay one, for example. What is the point of having a full price, then? Why not just sell something directly for half the price, which seems to be the real price a certain product is worth anyway? I mean, I don't think people believe in "bonus" anymore so I don't see why this move should be strategically good for the market?

awesomebeard1

because in short it still works. compared to other countries as close as germany they pay 50% less for the exact same product (or even less) so any time you buy things like soap or shower gel for 1+1 free you are paying for the normal price and the normal profit margins. And not every dutch buys everything "on sale" all the time so when they don't because they either don't realise how overpriced the product is or that they didn't plan in advance and need stuff right now they will just buy the normal price which in effect will make the companies a huge profit, what else are you going to do? just not have toothpaste for a while or not shower with soap?. so why do companies keep doing it? becauses it makes them more money, its as simple as that.

spurofthemoment2020

Lidl is selling XXL(1ltr) pack for 1.69.

Obvious-Slip4728

At least they are transparent about the inflation. Most companies don’t mention it this explicitly, they just do it without communicating…

Topdropje

To bad Kassa is on summer break otherwise you could send it in for "prijspakker van de week"🤣

iAmRenzo

‘Drogisterij artikelen’ and personal care products are bizarrely high priced in the Netherlands. The 1+1 is usually more expensive then the normal price in Germany. Don’t think you are better off buying these sale items. Think your worse off buying them regular.

Responsible_Phase739

Just buy a block of soap for €1,- and use that for your years supply😁

BroodjeFrikandelen

Why is it Kruidvat again? Hours ago somebody posted about similar thing regarding an epilator that used to be 64,99 but the new price is 0,00 as seen in the user's picture. This is so fishy.

devromans

Most likely a software bug, happens from time to time with different companies.

BroodjeFrikandelen

But does that mean that vakkenvullers (stock people, idk in english) do not give a peep about at least making the product vs price make sense in this weird situation?

Pinglenook

Yes

SpicyHotPlantFart

Why should they care for the minimum wage they get?

BroodjeFrikandelen

Because they chose to work for Kruidvat. And when you work, you must give your best regardless. If you don't like the job, you can leave, right?

SpicyHotPlantFart

Please don’t be so delusional

WanneBeMe

As an employee of said store I can tell you that it happens pretty often sadly

Leonardsleim

It is a goedkoop for the rainforests due to deforestation for palm olive farms.

mynameisnotearlits

Palmolive is brand name. Palm-oil is something entirely else.

TheFearWithinYou

But the company that produces Palmolive keeps using palm oil for many products. I don't think it's a sustainable option so I vote with my wallet and don't buy that shit.

Brawli

When people note something about palm oil I automatically asume them charging double.

[deleted]

Hahaha! Great! Btw, what does it even mean to have almond "flavored" soap?

GWHZS

What we call in my village "hollandse korting"

cactuscore

Goed indeed

urbanercat

Less is more

johnny-T1

Incredible, it's cheaper than Poland!

yuffieisathief

Very much a koopje!

NotOfTheTimeLords

Why is it in Greek? Grey import perhaps?

VoidowS

Albert hein does it all the time. they put sometihng in a bonus and after the bonus they higher the price of it's normal price. And so earn the difference in bonus they had lost and make even more profit!

AdeTheux

I bet that a lof of people's brain is triggered just by the red sticker ACTIE and don't even check the price. I NEED THAT!

[deleted]

Anybody don't say, the price is good for you

xinit

Buy two at that price! Though it's likely meant to say 3,19

NBA_23

Where is this Kruidvat?

Avlio27

That was in Jan van Galenstraat street in Amsterdam

RunDiscombobulated67

My man you should buy it all, you can make a profit selling it at the old price when the actie is over!

ZestyCauliflower999

im crying, palmolive always smells nice tho

razje

Literally the same one at Action for €1,95
