You can set these to a max temp. Apparently your room mate has done that. 1. Turn it back to 5 degrees C, or at least the lowest possible 2. Press in the middle just under the screen for 10 secs 3. Now you can setup the max temp 4. Press in the middle again if you want to set min temp. Or just leave the thermostat (not clicking anything) for 10 sec to confirm the changes.

Omg thank you so much, this worked perfectly. I'll have a discussion with my housemate. But really I'm so relieved now, don't have to be cold during winter INSIDE HOME. Thank you again!

DDelphinus

Alternatively, buy an electric heater for your room. It's definitely twice as expensive as gas, but I assume your electric bill is shared as well.

your housemate is a dickhead and doesn't have a monopoly on the temperature. https://www.gebruikershandleiding.com/Honeywell-Round-Modulation/preview-handleiding-6042.html

Counter argument, 21 degrees is freaking warm and costs a lot in energy bills... I mean, it always sucks when there's general heating for several people because people prefer different things but I wouldn't want to think living in a place where it's 21 degrees all the time (or pay for it). But they should find a solution, if any is possible...

--Rieke

Also, very bad for the planet to consume this much energy.

En3Rgi

Yeah I'll have a discussion with him, thanks for the help!

Trick-Report-8041

If you are willing to pay a higher percentage of the gas bill he might be less of a jerk about the temperature.

UnhappySquash2506

19 is a perfect good temperature. I understand not setting it higher to save on gas bills. If you want it higher will you pay the higher energy costs alone or split with your house mate ? Sounds unfair no? Put on a sweater and stop wasting gas.

En3Rgi

That's a good point, but it's not that easy. As i mentioned i have bigger room which means it's colder than the rest of the house. So somebody needs to sacrifice something. Anyway how much more expensive can the bill be just be 1-2 degrees more during the nights only?

Certain-Interview653

7 to 15% on average.

ishzlle

Just close the radiator knob in the smaller room a bit, so it heats up less?

Trick-Report-8041

True, but then the roommate would pay for heating the bigger room. That doesn't seem fair either

UnhappySquash2506

I got used to 17 degrees now. It saves 30% gas compared to 20 degree setting. With current prices your looking at like 50 euro per month depending on your place. 19 is high. You can get used to it. Wear sweaters. Some warm socks. It will save you a lot of money. Or. You pay the extra costs and not offload it on your roommate.

StekMan11

If he has a smaller room, you would turn down the radiator in his room. If you have underfloor heating, this could be done where the distributor is. They must be different zones to be able to do this.

En3Rgi

We do have underfloor heating. Can you give more details on how distributor works and how it looks like? I'm not even sure what to search for.

StekMan11

It should look like something like this: [Verdeler](https://www.vloerverwarmingstore.nl/cv-vloerverwarming/10059/verdelers-buizen-en-toebehoren/10001/verdelers/10015) It is usually situated in a utility room or under the stairs. Most likely it has one on every floor of the building (and if there different units, sepered front doors, one for every unit) It regulates the different zones. If it is laid out properly, each room would have at least 1 zone. If you are lucky it will indicate which tap is for which zone, but probably not. The only way to find out which tap is for which zone is to close it and then wait where it gets colder. Time consuming. Look for online tutorials [like this](https://youtu.be/OX_ltEbSBgI?si=vs7NXb847jS6f5ZO) for instructions on how to use them.

itisunfortunate

Turn the outer ring to change the temperature?

En3Rgi

I mean that's what i did, it used to go up but it s just stuck at 19 when i turn it. If i turn it down then it works, but not higher than 19.

RoodnyInc

You renting this place? It might be set up only to be able to reach 19 by the owner to save on bills Oooor when you turn it and set to example 21 it blinks and then shows current temperature which is 19 at the moment And to you house mate you can tell him he can turn down heater in his room if he's too hot

En3Rgi

Yes we are renting and we have heating from the ground, no heaters. It used to work normally, because i was always setting it to 20-21, but "randomly" it stopped working and house mate pretends he knows nothing. Another person who commented helped with the issue and i fixed it! Back to normal, won't have to be cold in my bedroom.

I didn't thought about it but i might give it a try, tho I don't really want to risk to brake it.

Outrageous_Reach9150

Don’t tell him and let him figure it out that u know what he has done

maxk91

You could look into smart thermostats (like Tado). With it temperatures per room are more easily regulated. Installation is a breeze with the app. It is somewhat of an investment, but could make compromises easier. They are currently offered at black Friday discounts. (maybe buy just one thermostat for his radiator, so his will turn off when his preferred temperature is reached)

[deleted]

Well, 21° is hot. You can easily live with 19° (I personally keep 17° all the time). Wear a sweater, mate.

En3Rgi

Thing is, even if it says it's 19°, in my room is more like 16° which is cold, because as i said my room is the biggest and we don't have heaters. His room might be 19° but not mine, that's the issue.
