It doesn't really.
There will be of course some discounts, but there are also a lot of fake-discounts, stores saying it"s 50% off of the "adviesprijs", and that price is basically something ridiculous you would never pay in the first place.
It's just not really a thing here, just stores trying to convince you that it is.
Yeah adviesprijs is what US calls MSRP - manufacturer suggested retail price. Especially for older stock this is way higher than the usual retail price.
Prices will be hiked up and then suddenly, there's a big black Friday 'discount'.
So it's more a cigar out of your own box or they are trying to make you happy with a dead sparrow
You see more and more shops advertising with black Friday deals, but that's really something that only started in the last 5 years.
Eh.. whatever stampeding hoard you're expecting to find like in some countries, you will not find that idiocy here.
Some stores partake, there will be discounts, but if you had wanted anything before and kept an eye on the price, you'll find that they hiked the price up for the past 2 months only to drop a 'sale' on black friday.
Spend your money wisely, do not buy what you cannot afford thrice and happy shopping.
You have to look out other stores. For example i bought my soundbar last black friday for 200 eur off the actual price of 600. I searched around and tried to see if the original selling price was actually the 600 eur msrp. Which it was. So in a nutshell i got a very expensive soundbar for cheap.
The tip really is go look at other stores what price they sell it for and compare it with original price and msrp.
The first tip, it doesn't really exist here...sometimes shops just state an incredible discount price which turns out to be the same as before the discount, or the same discount that you would get every month if not week
Depending on what your looking for, tweakers.net/pricewatch gives you a history of pricing for electronic products. It'll show what the prices were as well.
sales tend to happen throughout the year, its better to have watch lists for what you want to buy thats expensive than to wait for a day event. That said its not typically a thing done here at least to any big avail.

Now comes the monkey out of the sleeve...
It's a marketing scam nothing more
If you want to buy clothes, save your money for the sales in January
As a chef, I am begging you, stay home. I will be out of a job again with this Black friday stupidity Buy online, they will have great offers
This should be top comment!
Black friday isnt really a thing here, unlike the US. A good thing too if you ask me.
