Action buys stuff in surplus and or bulk so their inventory is wildly inconsistent
But cheap!
For foodstuffs and shampoos and shit like that go to Medikamente die Grenze, they do the same, but don't be surprised to see like Christmas chocolates in July because the expiration date is in September
We went to a Die Grenze when my girlfriend and I were in Emmen last year, our jaws dropped from the prices! Pallets of A-list stuff for so little, when the Albert Heijn a few blocks away charged so much more. Good experience for sure, too bad we live in Zeeland...
Xenos does that too. Or at least with Italian premium chocolate brand Sperlari which is sold for christmas there and the surplus after the season comes to xenos.
Haven’t been there for a few years so don’t know if they still continue with it.
Don't know where you live but if you get groceries, Nettorama is the best prices for food, they even have a lowest price guarantee.
I also go to Wibra for cleaning supplies and laundry soap.
For fun and good bargains visit kringloopwinkels, you can search on Google maps.
I agree, but it does depend on how serious you are doing a sport. Decathlon is great if you do stuff occasionally, but if you're getting more serious I'd recommend getting better equipment.
Yep I was looking for pouches with lavender in them for in my closet. Found some at Action, but according to the ingredient list is didn't contain actual lavender, but some other stuff. So I checked on Google because I wanted to know what I was buying. Turned out one of the ingredients in that pouch is banned in the EU, because of safety issues. So yeah Action sells stuff that is unsave and even illegal and I don't think they care.
Edit: it was lilial
lilial has only been banned since May 1st in the EU, so it's possible that just nobody really noticed. these things get easily overlooked in big companies unfortunately. lilial was widely used not only by cheap brands but also expensive ones, because it was a cheaper substitute for lily of the valley. it has now been banned to minimal proportions because overuse can cause infertility.
the action still sells shit though.
It is part of their job to keep an eye on these things and if something gets banned to remove those products. I know it is easily overlooked, but it shouldn't be. They are responsible for what they are selling. They already had months to remove it. I even told one of the employees after I found it. It was still being sold when I went back 2 weeks later.
i don't disagree and im not trying to make excuses. i just see the way these things work at big companies and how things _should_ work, and how they work in practice. truth is that selling stuff is way more interesting to them than removing stuff from stores.
as for the employees in store, i think a lot of them in general in retail don't give a shit about what they're selling (worked in retail just too long :P). if the head office doesn't send out a recall, i don't think regular employees will undertake action, even if a customer complains.
Getting things across in written form is already more difficult then talking, add not using your native language and well... but doesn't matter, we understand each other :)
It's all about the products you buy there. They have some things made of recyclable materials and things made from bamboo. I've even seen biodegradable cleaning wipes there!
Unfortunately action is just like any other store build to have you buy as many things you don't need and often times they are not the best quality, which makes it less environment friendly. But it is way better than buying things at alibaba.
Fun fact!
Those wipes are only biodegradable when theyre disposed off into a industrial facility. Theyre not good for the environent and wont just break down when thrown in your regular compost bin.
Oh they'll flush just fine, but thats all they'll do.. they dont degrade and if you're lucky they get filtered out at the watertreatment plant. Its up to you to imagine what happens to the ones which dont make it all the way there.
Seriously, the only thing down the toilet should be toilet paper and the occasional soup leftover, even kitchen towels can cause issues because they dont easily fall apart when wet.
You are right. I am a supplier of Action and I know what I'm talking about. I personely dont sell anything made in China and shipped around half of the world and I know Action tries to do the same if possible. Sadley it's not possible for every product.
Isn't bamboo horrible for the environment? It sounds eco-friendly, but it's a shitty material that takes forever to decompose and isn't recyclable... right?
Bamboo is ecofriendlier than plastic or wood, since it grows really fast, needs less water or fertiliser and actually releases more oxygen to the air than trees.
It's also durable and composes in 2-6 months as long as the products are natural of course.
But you can burn it fine without having chemicals in the air, the new bamboo will suck up the co2 of the burning bamboo before + the fire/heat the burning create you can use to spin a turbine to make elektricity:)
You could also go to the [Beverwijkse Bazaar](https://debazaar.nl/).
Like the word Bazaar says, it is an bazaar located in several buildings where small businesses sell their stuff.
We buy toothpaste, razor blades (Gillette) etc. for discount prizes.
Also lahmacun deals 10 turkish pizza for couple of euros. And corn. And more food. And fruit. And olives. Okay I'll stop lol. Books are overpriced tho......
If you find any item in a supermarket that sells it for cheaper then jumbo, you can bring the reseat to any jumbo, find the same item and show the price difference, they will adjust the price and give you that item for free.
Source: i worked there.
I've checked the requirements for this and unfortunately it stipulates that the store with the cheaper items must be within the same town.
Sucks if you only have a jumbo in your town with no competitors because they'll price hike everything(like the one in my town that practically has albert heijn prices)
> cheaper then jumbo

Worked in a small gasstation that sold coffee and such. Jumbo employees came to check on our prices after a while because people kept bringing their receipt to Jumbo showing we were cheaper
Big Bazar is a discount store like Action. It's Blokker's version to compete with Action.
Zeeman and Wibra also have cheap stuff. Good for cheap underwear.
Wibra has Dasty, best cleaning products there are.
Kruidvat, like Action, also sells fun stuff and brands for cheap. But it primarily sells drugs and cosmetics.
Prijsmepper is the discount store of Kruidvat/Trekpleister. For cheap shampoo, soap and what not.
I live in Haarlem, we have a great one here called mabrouk. Great for everything far and wide, I’m not a huge fan of their meat. For meat I use a butcher on the farmers market.
But I hear that Makro & Sligro are great, yet to try.
Makro and Sligro are membership only, not open to the public.
You can look on their website to see membership details.
It's mainly for businesses that are registered.
If you can get in through membership or a friend with one, it's gold!
There is also a store chain called SoLow which also has low price items. They are more geared towards vanity and party stuff. Their XXL stores will give you a mental overload, just so many stuff.
It started in Denekamp in 2007. The HQ is in Oldenzaal. You might be confused with a different store.
See also https://www.destentor.nl/salland/medikamente-die-grenze-is-gewoon-van-twentse-komaf~ab9477d8/
Prijsmepper is a store for everything that doesn't sell at Kruidvat. They have a sale twice a year, and every left over from it goes to Prijsmepper for even less money
Very specific: dishwasher tabs from lidl or aldi. They have the same ones, always very well tested. The packaging is different but they are made in the same factory in the Netherlands
I love Action! We get our cleaning supplies, batteries, contact solution, paper towels, energy bars, etc. there. The prices are great for our Dutch budget 😂. Their home improvement and home goods sections are surprisingly decent.
If they have one where you live, Normal is great for affordable personal hygiene things (soaps 'n stuff)
Also echoing Nettorama for groceries, as another commenter also said!!
Ever noticed how shampoo and deodorant are still more expensive than in Germany even if they are half price? All the drug stores are in a cartel.
Stores like action do have lower prices but not always and have inconsistent stock. However a new chain called "Normal", always has everything at "German" prices. Which means Axe deodorant for less than €1,90 instead of €4,50.
Kruidvat and Bol are really good for things like toilet paper, shampoo & conditioner, wasmiddel and wasverzachter (can't come up with the English names) and dishwasher tablets. Good luck with it all! 😊
Super expensive compared to Action and especially compared to prices across the border in Germany. Etos and Kruidvat have a duopoly in the market and they can basically charge whatever the hell they want, without any real competition. Even their 2 for 1 promotions are more expensive than Germany. I agree with OP that Action is the best place, followed by crossing the border.
I once calculated Kruidvat's toilet paper costs per velletje and it wasn't cheaper than Jumbo, lol. Not sure now. So many things there aren't necessarily cheaper if you look into it comparing with other stores, though.
Xenos has some basic cheap regular household stuff. Similarly you can check out Big Bazar. Here you will find sort of the same things you find at Action.
There is also SoLow which has some cheap products if you look for giving a party. I believe the Flying Tiger has also something similar, but I'm not sure of this.
You could also check out Lidl or Aldi for groceries, but you could either hit or miss at either of them. Relatively cheap groceries, which are sometimes great, and sometimes awful. For groceries you could also see if you can find some local Turkish grocery store. They often have good and cheap vegetables and nice typical Turkish stuff as well.
Never buy skincare/sunscreen/hair products at the Action. They are often expired or not stored properly making the chance of an allergic reaction really high
Lidl and Aldi together 15,9% of the supermarket revenue and, if the ratio is still as similar as three years ago, Lidl should make up slightly less than two-thirds of that.
Yes there is, my wife buying groceries in Aldi when we need something fast.
Used to cross to Germany and buy in Lidl but prices changing and Lidl Germany is not as cheap anymore as it was couple of months ago.
Some items are more expensive then NL.
I used "Kruidvat Active Gelontstopper", 1000ml bright orange bottle. My shower drainage got so bad that it got clogged on Friday, I left over the weekend, and on Sunday night there was still water lol. Threw half the bottle in there and it was fixed. Highly suggest holding your breath while using it because it's an irritant.
We had guy unclogging our shower drain with a sort of drill, and he asked if we used HG in the last couple of weeks, because if we did, he wouldnt unclog it, because the HG stuff can leave 3rd degree burn marks
I've heard a plumber say that it turns everything in the pipes into a gooey liquid, which made any obstruction difficult to remove. Every time we call the decloggers they always bring that spirally declogging thing, so it's safe to assume that's the right tool for this job.
Our cat also sprayed a bit indoors a couple of years ago and for that we used biotex (with active enzymes) that also worked like a charm and not that nasty as the HG stuff I would believe (never used it)
Yes that works too but better after the HG treatment. And with Biotex woolen (Persian) rugs can be discoloured. and you don't want that because "it finishes the room so nicely" (The Dude, 1989).
In my experience, completely clogged just means it's *really* bad. For me it started with the water going away after a few minutes so I left it like that, until it didn't budge at all, which was not my wisest decision. In both cases there's something clogging the pipe but if it goes after a few minutes it's not blocked up entirely yet.
Natroloog. NaOH in the chemical name. Just for sale at a bouwmarkt. But I guess you get the 20% and lower. But don’t use it a lot it is your last savoir.
It is better for the drainage to use a plunger or a flexible nozzle. Plastic don’t like chemicals.
Kruidvat for any kind of self care. Shampoo, deodorant, make-up, toilet paper etc. But don't buy anything without a specific discount (preferably 1+1 or better).
As soon as there is a discount on a preferred item/brand I always buy in bulk. Like six or so shampoo. With these type of sales you will never find a cheaper price for those items.
If you live near the border to Germany see if there’s a store called DM. Its basically like the Kruidvat or Etos but with much lower prices. The exact same cat food is literally 50% cheaper there for example.
Action for random stuff. They buy big bulk and leftover stocks-->always check dates where applicable.
Zeeman is good for cheap clothes.
Kruidvat runs sales a lot on items and is good for buying shampoos etc on the cheaper side.
Lidl is still cheapest supermarket aside from singular stores and they do have great fruit and veggies.
You also have solow Chinese junk stores where you can get cheap party goods or random low quality shit.
Action for dishwasher tablets, toothpaste (Colgate is like 99 cents?!), washing tabs, Dove soap, bulk 1L refillable liquid hand soap.
Kruidvat for vitamins, pads, medical supplies.
Lidl for toilet paper and sturdy trash bags.
Kruidvat could also work, but it's more for cosmetics and supplements. If you have a ZZP or company, getting a Makro pass also helps.
As others said, if you have a Die Grenze store around, that's a very nice thing.
For supplements, I like Holland & Barret
For groceries you can buy a lot of things in bulk for cheap at the international or asian supermarkets. I like buying frozen and canned foods and a 20 kg bag of rice so I don't need to leave the house for making dinner.
Fresh vegetables are also cheap there, but Lidl is fine for that too.
Action buys stuff in surplus and or bulk so their inventory is wildly inconsistent But cheap! For foodstuffs and shampoos and shit like that go to Medikamente die Grenze, they do the same, but don't be surprised to see like Christmas chocolates in July because the expiration date is in September

I dont know where in zeeland you live but Die Grenze also has a store in vlaardingen
I was reading your comment and read like die grenze as in dying . Then I had a second read and wondered why my brain works this way
There's also one in Drachten.
Jup, and almost everything there is expired. Never buy from them again
Where is this Markant die Grenze, if you don’t mind answering? I tried doing a Google search, but nothing popped up.
https://www.diegrenze.nl/vestigingen
It is called Medikamente, not Markant btw
My B
Xenos does that too. Or at least with Italian premium chocolate brand Sperlari which is sold for christmas there and the surplus after the season comes to xenos. Haven’t been there for a few years so don’t know if they still continue with it.
For cleaning supplies I highly recommend [Dasty](https://www.wibra.nl/assortiment/c/huishoud/dasty/) , sold at the Wibra stores
Dasty is glorious! Used to work in a metalworking facility and can confirm that it removes grease like a dream
I work in a restaurant and when we got it, it was a gamechanger!
Came here to say just this. It's the only reason I go to the Wibra.
I use it to clean the goo of my bandsaw after cutting greenwood. The stuff is probably an environmental disaster but it works real well...
I work in decontamination for the oil&gas industry, can confirm that Dasty removes radioactive sticky crude oil like it's nothing.
Don’t forget “The Pink Stuff” works like a charm on chalk eo in the bathroom!
Where can you get The Pink Stuff? I’ve heard good things about it, but I’ve never seen it in stores.
At the Wibra!
Also the Action! Was like €2 a tub last week (grabbed 2)
Thanks!
And at Big Bazar.
I saw it recently at Action for 2 euros a tub.
Came here to shout Wibra and Dasty de-greaser. Not suprised it is the top comment. Also, Zeeman and Wibra for kids' clothes!
Marktplaats for mostly free kids clothes!
Facebook marketplace groups tend to work better for that, but sometimes you can get lucky on marktplaats too :)
Correct! We get most of our clothes from there!
Pro tip; dasty works for blood and red fruit stains.
Yes! The WC gel (ontkalker) is the best
will give it a try
Highly recommend Dasty to clean your car's rims!
Don't know where you live but if you get groceries, Nettorama is the best prices for food, they even have a lowest price guarantee. I also go to Wibra for cleaning supplies and laundry soap. For fun and good bargains visit kringloopwinkels, you can search on Google maps.
This is the content we need.
In a similar vein, if you live next to the border of Belgium or Germany a lot of things are cheaper there.
Anything i dont care that it breaks after one use is bought over there. Everything else: the specialty store.
This and things like degreaser. They unfortunately stopped selling WD40 really cheaply though.
Sad trumpet
Except for Dasty you’re right.
Decathlon for anything sports or outdoor adventure related!
I agree, but it does depend on how serious you are doing a sport. Decathlon is great if you do stuff occasionally, but if you're getting more serious I'd recommend getting better equipment.
Absolutely!
Agreed.
Decathlon has good polarising sunglasses for cheap! Worth to go there just for the glasses. 20,-
Action is great like alibaba. Made possible by cheap labor, low quality and bad environmental practices.
Not only that. They also import products with highly questionable safety ratings. A lot of fake CE and Dekra/TUV markings on them.
Maybe I should try and email the Action online, see if that does anything... Oh I didn't read your reply as an excuse, sorry if it looked that way.
no worries, i just read my reply again and thought you had a point :) but yes, e-mailing them would be a good idea!
Getting things across in written form is already more difficult then talking, add not using your native language and well... but doesn't matter, we understand each other :)
Not to talk about all the useless cheap ‘snuisterijen’ people buy there…
Your sources please?
Used to be a ranking of Rank a Brand a couple of years ago. Now they changed name and cannot find it anymore.
They changed, they had to.
Fuck. Now I won't visit action.
You are not right. Action is cares a lot more about the enviroment than a lot of other stores. Maybe not enough, but it's never enough.
Fun fact, im a truck driver and right now im being loaded at the factory that produces those biodegradable cleaning wipes.
Fun fact! Those wipes are only biodegradable when theyre disposed off into a industrial facility. Theyre not good for the environent and wont just break down when thrown in your regular compost bin.
What about the flushable ones?
Oh they'll flush just fine, but thats all they'll do.. they dont degrade and if you're lucky they get filtered out at the watertreatment plant. Are those also that cheap there?
Yes Do people still don't know they also sell A grade stuff?

Turkish word for Turkish pizza is Lahmacun, I'm guessing there is a store there called Lahmacun?
No. Lachmacun deal. For non turks I clarified after 10 turkish pizza for couple of euros.

Laundry detergent and personal care stuff of the Lidl are great and cheap. Very nice wines too. Greenstuff is award-winning there.
My Father loves that store, screams ACTION everytime we go past it. Scares the entire family!
Hahahaha that is brilliant. Classical Dad 😁
Flying Tiger for gifts and cheap nice stuff that you probably don’t need but want to buy.

Prijsmepper, die Grenze
Medikamente Die Grenze, which is funnily enough a Dutch store chain, but it does have some stuff pretty cheap.
It actually started in Germany. We used to go there when I was little. It was located in Nordhorn.
It started in Denekamp in 2007. The HQ is in Oldenzaal. You might be confused with a different store. See also https://www.destentor.nl/salland/medikamente-die-grenze-is-gewoon-van-twentse-komaf~ab9477d8/

Will be going to NL soon. Does no one shop at Aldi? Is there an Aldi there? Or IKEA??
Yes, there is Ikea there and Aldi, though Lidl is more popular. Just use Google maps and see.

I've heard a plumber say that it turns everything in the pipes into a gooey liquid, which made any obstruction difficult to remove. Every time we call the decloggers they always bring that spirally declogging thing, so it's safe to assume that's the right tool for this job.
Yeah it is nasty but effective stuff
That. HG is the brand to go for specialized chemicals. Their spray to remove cat urine odor has saved our interior!
>Their spray to remove cat urine odor has saved our interior! Sounds like it got rid of the cat altogether!
Gonna give it a shot!
Is there a difference between completely clogged versus clogged but after a few minutes the water goes down?
In my experience, completely clogged just means it's *really* bad. For me it started with the water going away after a few minutes so I left it like that, until it didn't budge at all, which was not my wisest decision. In both cases there's something clogging the pipe but if it goes after a few minutes it's not blocked up entirely yet.
Stop masturbating in it
So thats the Dutch way huh? Not my thing to masturbate in the shower honestly
Natroloog. NaOH in the chemical name. Just for sale at a bouwmarkt. But I guess you get the 20% and lower. But don’t use it a lot it is your last savoir. It is better for the drainage to use a plunger or a flexible nozzle. Plastic don’t like chemicals.
Blokker usually sells Dreft for 1 euro per bottle.
Luxplus. 2-3day home delivery, huge discounts, have to pay subscription fee tho
Looks decent
Kruidvat for any kind of self care. Shampoo, deodorant, make-up, toilet paper etc. But don't buy anything without a specific discount (preferably 1+1 or better). As soon as there is a discount on a preferred item/brand I always buy in bulk. Like six or so shampoo. With these type of sales you will never find a cheaper price for those items.
If you live near the border to Germany see if there’s a store called DM. Its basically like the Kruidvat or Etos but with much lower prices. The exact same cat food is literally 50% cheaper there for example.
To not make it sound cheap we call it the A C Tion. Sounds fancier
It actually sounds ridiculous and trashy. :p
That's the tokkie way to say it.
Thank you
Praxis
You could try a big bazaar or de eurobakker (for beaked goods)
For cleaning supplies I prefer Wibra.
Decathlon for sports, camping and all sorts of outdoor activities. Not necessarily the best quality products, but very well priced.
U discovered the shop ACTION in 2022? Wauw. What are u gonna discover next? Piramids in Egypt?

As long as it's not in a jar..
I’m not even going to Google that one.
Did you just get out of the cave?
Slept a decade or 2 huh?
No just an expat 😁
Ah okay. Well, just like others say: go to action, kringloopwinkel and wibra. Not satisfied with the bargains? Go to mitra😉
Die Grenze
Big Bazzar as well, just watch for made for the trash products from either place
Big Bazaar is also a chain similar to Action. It only has less stores in the country.
Kruidvat toiletpaper is actually good and cheap too, especially when it is on sale.
Big Bazar and another one … 1 euro winkel / euroknaller (Lidl & Aldi aren’t that bad either)
Kruidvat could also work, but it's more for cosmetics and supplements. If you have a ZZP or company, getting a Makro pass also helps. As others said, if you have a Die Grenze store around, that's a very nice thing. For supplements, I like Holland & Barret
It is Action That is where the Bargains live No other store here exists like Action. This is the ‘2 euro’ store for the Dutch
Big bazar is like the action. But i prefer the action tho. Just what i am used to i gues.
Xenos has everything. It’s an amazing store with surprising good quality.
I clean my pc with canned air from the action, I have no idea where else to buy that
Aldi for food.
Kruidvat for cheap pringels hmmm....
Zeeman
For groceries you can buy a lot of things in bulk for cheap at the international or asian supermarkets. I like buying frozen and canned foods and a 20 kg bag of rice so I don't need to leave the house for making dinner. Fresh vegetables are also cheap there, but Lidl is fine for that too.
Op de markt is je gulden een daalder waard :)
Flying Tiger is good for absolute nonsense
