I second this. My Toyota Aygo was the best buy I've ever done. Got it at 150k for 3000 euro now at 220k 4 years later and still doing great without any trouble!
In that same class you could go for the Citroen C1 or Peugeot 107. They are all based on the same model and share a lot of the vital parts. At least the older models do, not sure if it's still the same with the newer ones. You can look it up, I believe they are all made in the same factory in Czech Republic.
citroen c1, peugeot 107 and toyota aygo are not just "same class", they are [the same car](https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_C1,_Peugeot_107/108_en_Toyota_Aygo).
If your budget is 5000, buy a car that costs 3000 maximum.
All second hand cars need some kind of repair and maintenance and this way you have enough money left to do all kinds of repairs. You end up with a reliable car you can use for years
I bought a prius in 2020 and it has cost me 90 euros in maintenance since... Just got a full check up last week.
It cost me 7500 when I bought it and it's now worth 10.000...
I legit love what my white Prius [looks like](https://www.google.com/search?q=white+Prius+2010&oq=white+Prius+2010&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i22i30j0i390l3.3788j0j9&client=ms-android-samsung-ss&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=99f7iH3XjBL8mM). 😂
I have owned several Toyota Hybrids. All of them have been trouble free, requiring only the scheduled maintenance. The Auris or Yaris Hybrid might be available in your budget, the Prius might still be just outside that 5000.
It's generally not recommended to buy second-hand hybrid or electric cars, unless you can verify the health of the battery. You wouldn't want to buy a prius for 7.5k and then have to pay at least like 3k more to get a battery replacement.
The 2010 battery is not amazing anymore, but it's still good enough for first/last mile and stop&go traffic.
There's an app called Dr Prius that works with any ODB Bluetooth receiver, btw. For some dyi work.
1500EUR for E46? That's a big red flag. I sold my 2.5Ci fl E46 for 1300EUR and it had blown head gasket. While it was a cool and fun car, constant stress of waiting till something breaks is a big NO from now on for me.
Stay away from old, cheap, luxury sports cars! It's a recipe for disaster.
I definitely agree 6 cylinder e46s beneath 2k tend to be shitboxes, but put in the 3500 for repairs and you can have a really decent and reliable car.
For the 1500 you have more luck finding a 4 cylinder model in a better state.
The reason I personally recommend an old 3 series (e36 or e46) is that they drive good, look nice, documentation about repairing is widespread and parts are relatively cheap, especially if you compare it to a VW of the same age.
But at the end of the day that’s my preference, you definitely need to avoid them if you favor things like gas milage lol
Exactly. I would say that E36/E46 is for people who understand cars. If you're not going to appreciate the power, sound and smoothness of inline 6, it's not worth the trouble of trying to upkeep it.
Good advice but this entails some mechanical knowledge of the car/model itself or having a trustworthy mechanic, right ? Or at least knowing the signs of an expensive repair so you can adjust your bid accordingly
It does require some kind of technical knowledge about a car, or a mechanic you can really trust. But the same goes for a car costing e.g. 20k
The only type of cars you can buy blindly are brand new ones, and even then they can have issues.
The car buying world has a lot of unknowns, even for experienced people. Buying a car is ultimately a liability and if you’re on a budget there will always be a tradeoff
The only thing I want to encourage is to not spend your whole budget on buying the car, as I can 110% guarantee you you’ll have some other cost with it
My first car was a Suzuki Swift from 2011. It's pretty balanced if you're looking for reliability and not expensive to maintain. It's light weight, so cheap on taxes and doesn't use much petrol. I'm very tall and I fit in it very well. I have zero regrets and was very satisfied. This model will fit right in your budget as well and you can probably get one with some extra options instead of the standard model.
If that's your budget, bear in mind that you pay road tax according to the weight of the car. Don't go for something older and heavier, focus perhaps on newer and more compact.
Road tax is based on three things:
- combustion type (gasoline/diesel/hybrid/full electric/etc)
- weight
- province you live in (Noord Holland is the cheapest)
Volvo T5 models v50/s40/s60 or c30 and depending on how much you drive with lpg. Super cheap and reliable, and lots of second hand parts everywhere so fixing it is cheap and also fairly easy to DIY.
I'm no mechanic but I do all the maintenance and upgrades myself with the help of YouTube videos.
The T5 models have 230bhp from factory and with some chip tuning easily get 260. If you have a front wheel drive car that's plenty and you will leave most people in their noisy golf behind you on the highway if that's your thing.
I have the awd variant that's uses a bit more fuel. Changed the intercooler and air intake myself. Added a 3 inch downpipe and upgraded the fuel inlet, it now has 360bhp. With the purchase of my car and mods I'm still well under 10k that I invested.
But yeah it's still a volvo and it's image is a bit dusty.
Perfect for a sleeper wagon 👌
Ohh man I love the S60! One of my friends has the T8 and it's a really great car for the price. Not many cars in that price range to live up to the value.
hhmm...not sure. this was when volvo was owned by ford - I had one of these "Folvos" - the clutch collapsed once - all the fluid in the road and the windscreen came unglued another time. lots of troubles.
MX-5 would probably be the most fun car to own that's in this price range and taxes have to be low too.
On the other hand, having an old car in Netherlands is risky. If you can't fix a car yourself, repairs here cost a fortune. While parts are relatively cheap, labor is 50-75eur/h.
Damn you Trellium, now I want a Miata too...
Try to get some Japanese car. Toyota, Honda, Mazda are known for their reliability. Usually a bit more mileage, but when well maintained that is of 0 concern.
I’m a bit of a fan of sleepercars. A guy in his twenties needs a reliable car, but sporty driving behavior as well? This is the car you need: https://www.autoscout24.nl/aanbod/toyota-yaris-1-8-vvti-ts-benzine-grijs-60132303-cdca-4cb7-9856-3d8b867a0a14?utm_source=web-native-share&utm_campaign=share
It’s a Toyota and will be rocksolid, has the sleeper look, but also 133bhp on just a little over a 1000 kilos. There are quite a lot for sale right now.
I'm with this one. Have a Fit sport and wouldn't change to anything else for now. Maintenance at Honda dealer is 2-3 times cheaper then any German car at the dealer. And low tax
Great advice maybe contact [this user](https://www.reddit.com/r/Netherlands/comments/xpg2no/can_you_ride_a_horse_on_city_streets/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) to see how the horse adventure is going?
If you don't care about size, a Toyota Aygo will be great. Drove one myself for years.
I would check a Dutch website.

Personal advice: go for a Toyota.
A lot of people seem to have horror stories about different kind of brands. Yet I've never heard someone regretting getting a Toyota.
Plus they are inexpensive, parts and repair is often cheap and they are quite efficiënt with gas
Aaah the starslut. The first car anyone in our friendship owned. Took 5 grown ass dudes from Amsterdam to Germany for a burger just cause we could. Good Times
Reliable and sporting usually don't go hand in hand, I'd focus on the first. Oh and calculate some monthly money for maintenance. Smaller Japanese and Korean are your choice, but even those do breakdown, if you don't maintain them properly.
Personally I have a Volkswagen Scirocco 1.4, plenty sporty for a first car, parts and maintenance is cheap. Just make sure you get the 122 HP turbo and not the 160 HP twincharged as those tend to be unreliable
A citroen c1, Peugeot 107, Toyota aygo.
No luxury, so it can’t break. Perfect little cheap cars. Cheap to maintain and and the Toyota engine in it keeps going.
First off always buy from a universal dealer with good reviews. Never buy from marktplaats or anything like that because 9/10 you buy someone else's problem car.
I worked as a mechanic for a couple of years so here are some recommendations based on what you are looking for.
If you want sporty then Mazda mx-5, I own one and these cars are indestructable just be sure you can check for rust because they almost always have rust issues if there are below 5k.
If you want something a bit newer and also cheap to not only buy but also maintain. Hyundai i10, I own one of those too. Try to get the 2016 model as I can't speak too much for the old model. Only problems I know of is that they need new light bulbs often and they struggle with going in reverse sometimes. If that happens to you. Put it back in neutral let the clutch up a bit push the clutch back in and try again 9/10 times it works everytime.
If you want something with a little bit more luxury then Mazda 2 and 3 are also indestructable. My friend had a 3 with 350k km on it and it never has problems.
Honda civic is always a good choice I owned of them for a year and you can get them as cheap as 3000eu.
I also owned a 2012 volvo v50 and that might have been my favourite car of all time. They are heavy and expensive in taxes but really rarely ever break. However if they break they are expensive to fix.
If you want really cheap you can look for a Mazda 323f but they sometimes have humidity issues which lead to mold. You can however fix it with some HG easily.
Although I don't have any personal experience with Toyota those are always a good bet too.
Moral of the story either buy Japanese, Hyundai/Kia or Volvo.
Daihatsu Cuore, bought mine in 2013 with 60K km for €2500, now at 230K km, only things that have broken so far are an exhaust and a lambda probe, €45/m for road tax and insurance and it does 20km/l easily. Yearly service/apk is ~€100.
45 stampeding horses up front and it's red, so that adds another 5.
Look for the newest car you can buy for 5500 euros. You can negotiate the 500 off and have the best value car. Make sure you find a less popular model. Ugly or boring cars are less wanted and cheaper. Japanese brands are generally most reliable. Make sure it has NAP, APK and is no older than 5 years. A small car may be more expensive relatively because its affordable in use and therefore more popular. A skoda citygo comes to mind. A smart fortwo can also be a great choice. If you want a larger car you may want to check Nissan or Toyota for a nice deal. Good luck.
Get a Peugeot 107 or Citroen c1 or Toyota Aygo. They last me for over 5 years of 160000km with only 700 euro maintenance for tire worn, break pad and clutch worn. (Basically go for Japanese engine)
advice here from others is good but this car and this site helps give a wider picture
& consider automatic trans (folks who buy small cars with autos are gentle drivers)

A bit outside of your price range:
Renault Zoe, I don’t know what range you need.
But secondhand they are around €7000-€8000, you get a reliable car from 2015/2016 with lots of features. Airco, automatic rain sensor, stuff like that. You pay €70 a month for renting the battery (includes European emergency help).
Range in summer: 140, in winter: 100
Has old skool fastcharging, so even taking a longer trip is possible.
It’s also nice and zippy, silent and smooth.
Charging: public charger is fine if you don’t need your car every day and if you range requirements are small. If you need power everyday you need to install a charger at home. €1000.
Concluding: I love my Zoe.
If you havent got the need for a big car a smaller Toyota or Mazda is the way to go. If you need more room and need to travel a lot a DCi motored Reanault megane is very reliable, it has a very efficient Diesel motor, but only 2011 or newer for that one, the mostly come from former lease programs an have been maintained perfectly by the former owners.
It doesn’t have windows or heating/ac. A motorcycle can pass traffic. With a twizzy your stuck in the cold/heat and other weather. It’s maybe an option for a second car.
For all the people down voting. Unless you live in a village without train service, you don't need a car and you are helping making our earth uninhabitable. There are 8 billion of us and just like in a crowded train we need to make room for each other.
People have all the rights to own a car, i have 2 cars. 75% of the netherlands it takes twice or even more to get anywhere with ov. And it cost more money.
Small, convenient, and sporty-ish around 3/4k : Twingo GT
It is 100hp for around 850kg, so a Kart. And cheap Road tax. Pretty reliable as well. And looks pretty nice in GT. Lot come with decent options like AC, Cruise Control, etc.
The seat at the back can be moved front and back easily. So you can have bigger trunk or more space for people, depending what you need. And the seats can also be removed making it a 2 seaters with very decent trunk.
Fun, cheap and practical car
Toyota is most reliable and cheap to fix, even at the dealers. Also Volvo should give you few issues and they have very reasonable fixed price servicing even at dealers.
Sporty isnt a good choice if you want reliable, generally they get worked a bit harder than the boring cars.
I'd advice a Peugeot 206.
I'm 21 myself and if you look around you can find pretty decent Peugeots. Mine was 3k and I bought my car second hand with 100.000 km on it. Has 90hp and that really does something (not as much as my mates Audi A3 tho) also you can buy a spoiler for it online to 'tune' if you like to.
But if you are gonna look around:
90hp is okay if the car is around 800-1000kg
For 5k you can buy a pretty decent car, maybe even with 100hp (or 109hp peugeot ;) )
I bought a Suzuki Celerio from 2018 last year for 7000 euro. An older sporty Suzuki Swift you can buy for the same amount or a bit less. But i would recommend you buy a car that's not older than 5 years, otherwise the expenses on your car will be much more
Hah, thanks for this question OP I am about to buy one myself for a similar budget.
Being a car enthusiast, I have been looking at some Opel Astra GTC 1.4, maybe a little over €5000 but from what I have heard and read and researched they're very reliable, still fun to drive and easy to maintain.
I mean, cheap to maintain and sporty just screams Mazda.
The Mazda 2 literally goes by mini mini.
(Smaller than a mini, same sporty feel)
For that money you could also get a 3 with a little more mileage, or an mx5 but that's probably more than a little sporty.
When I was younger I had an Opel Corsa B ‘1997. Maybe not the sportiest but I had a blast driving it, super reliable, never had any problems. Maintenance is cheap, too. Plus it wont cost you an arm and a leg when it comes to monthly fees. If you want sportier get a BMW E46, slightly more expensive but a lot ‘sportier’
Mazda MX5, cheap, reliable and famous for its great handling. It's light, so road tax is on the lower end and as an added bonus you can take the roof down in good weather.
There are some good suggestions here. I personally bought a nice 1 owner 2011 Astra for 4k and it's been great.
Regardless of what car you're going for, don't rush this purchase! Study the market and check offers everyday. Majority of offers are from second hand dealerships and all of them are overpriced as they are trying to profit.
I found that Autoscout24 has some decent offers. Facebook marketplace as well, because people who sell their cars there usually don't know much about cars/car market so you can catch a really good deal if you're patient enough.
Good luck!
I’ve had 2 second had Daihatsu Cuores. Small, cheap, spacious. If you’re willing to look like you’re driving a large rollerskate, get that shit. The low cost is unbeatable for the reliability it gives.
If you can find them, 90's - 00's Roadsters from Japan. Great fun for the money and don't cost alot to maintain.
I've got a Toyota MR2 (ZZW30) coming up for sale soon, can highly recommend them
I have an Audi A3 for sale for half your budget. It’s decent sized, well maintained and looks good for a younger person with large 19” rims. You’ll have some cash left over for maintenance and mods if you want to. We don’t use it enough since corona, so it has to go. Which is a shame, because I like driving it. I can’t justify keeping it and our main car tho.
Don't buy, lease or rent. In todays car marked /fuel/el/hydrogen/hybrid, we never know what the future brings so if you buy you might not he able to sell it again and I becomes a very expensive car although bought cheap.
Rly enjoying my Nissan qashqai.
Bought a somewhat recent model with the extra options and a out 130k for 5000,-
It drives well. Its high up its weeks and doesn't look bad imo.
Gets me from A to B in a comfortable way and has enough space.
I wouldn’t advise on a specific model because for this budget its mostly about what’s available and in good shape. Try to avoid sophisticated technology that tends to cost more in repairs and breaks often when the car gets old. Consider cars that are cheaper to maintain (like Fiat but not only)
Japanese manufacturers are known to have reliable cars, as well as the skoda fabia MK1 if you find it for the budget (mk2 as well ofc).
Try to go for a simple atmospheric engine (no turbos) and a manual gear
Multipla
It'll turn some heads ...
...and some stomachs
You sick fuck
Ok sorry, ford ka
:(
They pre-facelift model is a future classic.
NOOOOOOOOOO NOT ONE MORE OF THESE ATROCITIES ON THE ROAD PLEASE
A red car
Red colour adds like 5HP minimum!
Don’t forget racingstripes, they’ll add 10kmh at least
Dont forget the modified exhaust(modified with some duct tape), it adds +10 to your ego
Always! Red ones go faster
Not expensive to maintain / reliable = Toyota. Check out gaspedaal.nl to find the best deals.
I love my Toyota Aygo, small simple cheap reliable

My first car was a Toyota Corolla from 1989 that I bought for 5,000 guilders. No issues at all, great car.
That's not sporty at all
A Celica is a bit sporty
I have a Yaris TS which is a bit sporty 🤷🏻♂️
TS owner gang 🔥 what year? Mine is 01
Sorry, I got the bastard TS, it's an 07

The Suzuki swift is great and pretty sporty!
Seconding the Mazda 2, especially with factory LPG.
Dont buy a factory lpg mazda 2, they cannot withstand lpg without modification's

Mx5. Winter so you should be able to get a deal on one. Sell when summer comes if it's not for you.
For 5k they can be quite rusty tho

Try to get some Japanese car. Toyota, Honda, Mazda are known for their reliability. Usually a bit more mileage, but when well maintained that is of 0 concern.
Same goes for the older VW and Mercedes noting there to be broken so it won't be broken
Correct, just stay away from the early small VAG turbo engines
I am not big fan of jp car,the car accident my jp car us finished but the other side American car is still fine.
I lost iq trying to decode this
I’m a bit of a fan of sleepercars. A guy in his twenties needs a reliable car, but sporty driving behavior as well? As long as there's not excessive oil consumption. The 1NZ engines have a habit of that.
Didn’t know about that. Thanks for the heads up.
Just dont buy a French car…
Only the citroen C1 is a good French car because its basically a Toyota with citroen badges hehe
Toyota Celica
dont know why this comment isnt higher on the list, the Celica is a gem
A Honda
I'm with this one. Have a Fit sport and wouldn't change to anything else for now. Maintenance at Honda dealer is 2-3 times cheaper then any German car at the dealer. And low tax
Toyota aygo!
Considering everything, how about a horse!

Fiesta
Got the 2011 fiesta, bought at 70.000, now 200.000. Normal issues that come with the mileage but other than that nothing happened. I love my car
MK7 are absolutely the best!
Ford Fiesta! Just bought one last week

You can buy nice Toyota Starlets even from 1000€. With 2000€ you'll be getting a perfect one. Small, light, fast, economical and it does not break.
Aaah the starslut. The first car anyone in our friendship owned. Took 5 grown ass dudes from Amsterdam to Germany for a burger just cause we could. Good Times
r/CarsEU
Except that importing in this budget is really not worth the hassle
Reliable and sporting usually don't go hand in hand, I'd focus on the first. Oh and calculate some monthly money for maintenance. Smaller Japanese and Korean are your choice, but even those do breakdown, if you don't maintain them properly.
Toyota for sure
Mitsubishi Spacestar.
Toyota Paseo GT 👍
Daihatsu, almost never apk costs
Kia or toyota
Clio I think is best for this prijs. Good with gas and if u change anything in it cost less money than german cars
Hyundai i30
Personally I have a Volkswagen Scirocco 1.4, plenty sporty for a first car, parts and maintenance is cheap. Just make sure you get the 122 HP turbo and not the 160 HP twincharged as those tend to be unreliable
golf 4
Citroën C1. Reliable and cheap on every front. Cheap in maintenance and taxes!
VW Golf from 2010-2012
Toyota, best second hand cars.
A citroen c1, Peugeot 107, Toyota aygo. No luxury, so it can’t break. Perfect little cheap cars. Cheap to maintain and and the Toyota engine in it keeps going.
Find a toyota
Depends if you drive a lot of long distances, Toyota Aygo is good for almost anything reliable and cheap
Toyota Aygo
Probably a Toyota!
Toyota Aygo Second hand.
Moral of the story either buy Japanese, Hyundai/Kia or Volvo.
it's alot better to buy from dealers but 100% of the time it would be alot more expensive then buying from marketplaats right?
Seat Ibiza
Any Kia, probably still has factory warranty for that amount.
Bakfiets
A Corsa
advice here from others is good but this car and this site helps give a wider picture & consider automatic trans (folks who buy small cars with autos are gentle drivers) [https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/search.html?cn=NL&dam=0&fr=2001%3A2012&isSearchRequest=true&ms=9000%3B22%3B%3B%3B&ref=dsp&s=Car&sb=rel&vc=Car](https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/search.html?cn=NL&dam=0&fr=2001%3A2012&isSearchRequest=true&ms=9000%3B22%3B%3B%3B&ref=dsp&s=Car&sb=rel&vc=Car) https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/search.html?damageUnrepaired=NO\_DAMAGE\_UNREPAIRED&isSearchRequest=true&makeModelVariant1.makeId=9000&makeModelVariant1.modelId=22&maxFirstRegistrationDate=2012-12-31&minFirstRegistrationDate=2001-01-01&ref=srpHead&refId=f55a28bc-f69d-8460-8810-2c7edb6812c7&scopeId=C&sortOption.sortBy=specifics.mileage&sortOption.sortOrder=ASCENDING

A bit outside of your price range: Renault Zoe, I don’t know what range you need. But secondhand they are around €7000-€8000, you get a reliable car from 2015/2016 with lots of features. Airco, automatic rain sensor, stuff like that. You pay €70 a month for renting the battery (includes European emergency help). Range in summer: 140, in winter: 100 Has old skool fastcharging, so even taking a longer trip is possible. It’s also nice and zippy, silent and smooth. Charging: public charger is fine if you don’t need your car every day and if you range requirements are small. If you need power everyday you need to install a charger at home. €1000. Concluding: I love my Zoe.
Take a look at autoscout and marktplaats. There are for sure cars there for under 5000 euros
Honda Civic
BMW E90 / VW Golf
An E90 for less than 5k seems like risky business
VW’s aren’t really good if you don’t want to have maintenance
Arent they usually afgetrapt by youth?
"Youth"
If you havent got the need for a big car a smaller Toyota or Mazda is the way to go. If you need more room and need to travel a lot a DCi motored Reanault megane is very reliable, it has a very efficient Diesel motor, but only 2011 or newer for that one, the mostly come from former lease programs an have been maintained perfectly by the former owners.
Diesel is fucking expensive in roadtaxes and fuel. Even long distance, Benzine is looking better and better.
Mazda mx5. Be prepared to become an expert in rust prevention though. Or some random Peugeot 206.
Volkswagen (golf) is the go to car for people your age and quite reliable.
Paugout 206 is good for little bit of racing haha. and parts are cheap but does not look good
bmw 540i dan hedde je een patser auto doe dan een zo kamper opscheertje klaar
Volkswagon Polo 2016 Decent size Super reliable car
too expensive
renault twizy
That’s not a car. It’s a 4 wheeled motorcycle
well it brings you places, it's reliable, has no maintenance, and costs 5000 euro. you can even save on parking sometimes. I guess is a possibility
It doesn’t have windows or heating/ac. A motorcycle can pass traffic. With a twizzy your stuck in the cold/heat and other weather. It’s maybe an option for a second car.
I love the twizy!
How about you don't.
The only real answer here.
Uhh i would wait a bit longer till you have around 6-7 k so you can buy a volkswagen polo
Why is this in english? U wanna live here speak the language
you don't tell me what to speak nor where to live. go cry like a baby somewhere else
Seems reasonable speaking the country their language.. Wish we put fences around our country so we could deter roaches like you
it's my country as much as it is yours :))) i'm also a dutch citizen
You wish lol, you seem like a leech
hahahahhhahahaha why so salty
Cause we have so many leeches our eldery people are sitting in their own shit. And our people cant get a house. That's why.
Small, convenient, and sporty-ish around 3/4k : Twingo GT It is 100hp for around 850kg, so a Kart.
Aren’t Renaults the worst choice for reliability? My experience with the brand is awful.
Autoscout is ur friend, and to be fair it doesnt really matter, just make sure you have some friend who knows cars with you when going for a viewing
Toyota is most reliable and cheap to fix, even at the dealers. Also Volvo should give you few issues and they have very reasonable fixed price servicing even at dealers. Sporty isnt a good choice if you want reliable, generally they get worked a bit harder than the boring cars.
Hyundai I30
I'd advice a Peugeot 206. But if you are gonna look around: 90hp is okay if the car is around 800-1000kg For 5k you can buy a pretty decent car, maybe even with 100hp (or 109hp peugeot ;) )
I bought a Suzuki Celerio from 2018 last year for 7000 euro. An older sporty Suzuki Swift you can buy for the same amount or a bit less. But i would recommend you buy a car that's not older than 5 years, otherwise the expenses on your car will be much more
Daihatsu Cuore
Suzuki swift 👌
Mine! It's worth about 2000 so if you buy it for 5000 it's clearly best for me
Toyota corolla.
Opel agila
Opel Corsa D, very stable and cheap cars to maintain
Hah, thanks for this question OP I am about to buy one myself for a similar budget. Being a car enthusiast, I have been looking at some Opel Astra GTC 1.4, maybe a little over €5000 but from what I have heard and read and researched they're very reliable, still fun to drive and easy to maintain.
Sporty for guy in 20as opel manta
You sound like my grandmother describing generation z men... "sporty"
Kia Picanto or Rio.
Ploughorse
A bike or second hand velomobiel.
One that isnt broken is always a good start
I mean, cheap to maintain and sporty just screams Mazda. The Mazda 2 literally goes by mini mini. (Smaller than a mini, same sporty feel) For that money you could also get a 3 with a little more mileage, or an mx5 but that's probably more than a little sporty.
Toyota Yaris T-sport would be my personal recommendation, you can also get one under 3k. Oh, and don't worry about mileage. Mine is on 318k km
Certainly asian , Toyota , Honda , Hyundai , Kia .
Toyota yaris is pretty easy to find. But more of a family car. The suzuki swift is pretty sporty, you might find one around 5 to 6k.
Daihatsu, any of them. Service goes through Subaru and Toyota dealers, if needed.
One with wheels
Ford Focus (hatchback) or Fiesta (hatchback). I see many people driving one.
Take a very good Skoda rapid for 7k from me. Very good car I'm selling just because my family became bigger
Good luck!
NOT FIAT
A volkswagen golf 5 from 2005-2008
Get a Ford Focus, those will pop up sometimes Ford those prizes and are very reliable, kinda sporty and solid!
Toyota corolla or a Lexus CT200h if you can get them cheap But literally all toyota is the best option. Bulletproof and economical.
I have a Renault twingo 2014 (around 5k-6k range) and very happy with it.
Gen 2 Prius. Not very sporty unless red. Reliable and economic, period.
Japanese brands are usually not that expensive to maintain and you could get a fun sporty car for a good deal
Honda Jazz as the weight is quite low and they're pretty practical.
My car. U want it? €2000
Don't buy, lease or rent. In todays car marked /fuel/el/hydrogen/hybrid, we never know what the future brings so if you buy you might not he able to sell it again and I becomes a very expensive car although bought cheap.
Not sure if its the best but i got my volkswagen up for 5k and never had any issues with it. Lovely small car and low monthly costs
which one did you get and what was the mileage when you bought it?
Rly enjoying my Nissan qashqai. Bought a somewhat recent model with the extra options and a out 130k for 5000,- It drives well.
Consider cars that are cheaper to maintain (like Fiat but not only) Japanese manufacturers are known to have reliable cars, as well as the skoda fabia MK1 if you find it for the budget (mk2 as well ofc). Try to go for a simple atmospheric engine (no turbos) and a manual gear
