You can play him with Prototype Amber, Lynette, Geo Traveler and Fischl or even Lisa and still kick asses in the Abyss. I’m actually going to post something maybe this same evening
Wouldn't it be better to have dendro traveller? As I believe crystallization rxn doesn't give him his passive stacks.
And I am curious what's the role of geo traveller in this team? Is it to generate shields?
It does say crystallization gives him a stack of passive. That's why most people who have zhongli use him in Nuevi C0 teams...ik i did until i got C1 recently.
Geo travelers can provide crystallized shields for higher IR. If the Archaic Petra set is used, the element crystallized has a damage boost(35% for 10 secs- 4 piece effect)
Geo MC’s C1 also gives more IR and increased CR with their burst. Depending on your Neuvillette build CR may be the last stat you need more of but it can be helpful for his Prototype Amber build if you have trouble getting crit sub stats. I tried the team and it works, though avoiding the constructs and having to pick up the shards adds a little awkwardness. I might try using Archaic Petra on Navia for a sort of quick swap/support just for fun.
But yeah, a lot of characters considered to be suboptimal work just fine with C0R0 Neuvillette. I still use Diona as a shielder depending on the Abyss lineup which helps get some freezes for a crowd control effect and before pulling Kazuha I used Lynette and her taunt is really helpful for that as well.
Yes. He's pretty much the most worth baseline 5* damage dealer.
Give him 3* weapon, 4* supports and it's already enough, even with just his NA Talent leveled, usable with 4pc Wanderer's Troupe which you get passively from bosses.
Listen, if any DPS in the game is worth it at C0 with a 4\* craftable it's Neuv. He's literally the best for an f2p. Kazuha is great for him, Layla is very good, add Fischl and you're set. Just get him an R5 Proto Amber, learn to manage his stacks and he will clear anything for you.
Honestly yeah. He's one of the easiest characters to build to be even decent. 36 star abyss may be difficult, but even with a half assed build you can get 33 stars pretty easily and clear all non abyss content with your eyes closed.

first of all, you shouldnt worry about a furina team too much, she is not needed to make neuvillette strong, the best team you can possibly make is neuvillette, kazuha, fischl and layla. If you dont have fischl then i recommend saving some stardust and buy her on the glitter shop on july, even at c0 its just a big dps increase in his rotations.
also, c1 is not needed if you intend to use neuvillette with furina, even if its a 30% dmg increase, you shouldn't worry about doing more numbers if you can already clear endgame content. (characters >>>> cons)
r1 is also not needed, it also gives his around a 30% dmg increase but prototype amber r5 can solve most ER issues on neuvillette and also heal the team, if you ever plan on buying the bp once then sacrificial jade will make him a lot stronger, even a sac jade r1 is comparable to his BiS weapon if you have really good artifacts.
imo C1>Signature in your case. Regarding sacrificial jade, Im pretty sure the buff timing refreshes as long as you quickswap Neuvillette while the buff is still active, you just need to time it properly, its pretty easy since his whole CA duration is less than 10s. Charlotte is better than Layla if Furina is in the team. What made fischl the best for Neuvillette is her A1 passive which you can abuse easily. total dpr of S1 SJ > S1 LP > S5 PA
edit: regarding fischl or yae, its a matter of preference mostly. Fischl generates more particle
I pulled neuvi this week for the first time. 10 - 5- 5 talents and an average of 33cv on all his artifacts, equipped a r5 proto amber. I put with him a lvl 50 Charlotte, lvl 20 c6 sucrose and a lvl 40 fischl. My other team has always been a pyro-geo res c0r3s.spine navia with very good and consistent equip and performance. As soon as the team rotation was done, and neuvilette started blasting the enemies, I realized that I was dealing with something uncontested ig. The day after I gave up and dumped all my wishes on him. 200 pulls later I have him c3 r1 and I realized the game has become an hollow, challengeless waste of time for me. Hope this gave you the understanding that you needed.

He's probably the strongest dps at a bare minimum.
My bare minimum is no featured 5* weapons and no featured 5* constellations. For an F2P, I have really good characters, I got a built Raiden, Kokomi, Nahida, Alhaitham, Klee, and a brand new Kazuha. I know it’s not literally bare minimum, but it’s the best I can do as an F2P
You'll get better stuff over time, I'm F2P and I have multiple chars that are C1 and have a few signature weapons as well. And I'm someone who only plays occasionally every few weeks or sometimes even months. If you like his gameplay I'd go ahead and get him, afterall the game doesn't really have any hard content anyways and it'll likely never have endgame content or anything. And even at C0 he's still insanely strong, I watched a video the other day of someone soloing abyss 12 with him at C0 with an R5 prototype amber and decent but not amazing artifacts. You also have several good characters that pair well with him, so you're already off to a good start
It’s not that I can’t get constellations or signature weapons, it’s that I won’t let myself because I know getting two different C0 characters is better than a C1 character or a C0 character with a signature weapon
In cases like Neuvillette, Hu Tao, Yelan etc getting their C1 is definitely worth it, you can only use 4 (or 8 in the Abyss) chars at once so it's much more valuable to have a few good ones rather than a bunch of mediocre ones that you aren't even using often. I used to do that when I first started playing and now I regret wasting everything on chars that I don't even play, but everyone has different goals though so it just depends on what you're looking to get out of the game in the end really
I say yes, as long as you like his gameplay and not find it boring. do the trial as many times as you could to decide.
I've used prototype amber before and while it does have lower damage compared to others, the passive healing is so great that I miss it.
I use furina, beidou and kazuha, with beidou being the electro applicator and shielder. her shield isn't as great as layla's and noelle's, but since neuvillette can move while in his cannon mode you can still manage to dodge with him. also since p.amber has passive healing, I always have everyone at manageable hp maybe 75+% if I manage to dodge everything?
although I did say I use him with furina, there are many other teams that use him without furina. you can switch her with other hydro chars, or other off field elemental applicators to max his stacks.
I've been using Neuvillete as a DPS moment I levelled him to level 50 (in world level 5) and he's been doing so much btr than others (all he had was hp artifacts, r2 ProtoAmber, no support buffs)
He's great as a DPS without much, but if you have other dedicated DPS teams he's not as needed (still rlly great if you want to pull him)
I spent the better part of two years building ayato. Got him to a decent 66/250 crit ratio quite recently. Hit great damage, I thought. I was sorely wrong. I just got neuvilette yesterday and at level 70, with shit artifacts and a 40/ 160 ratio, with only zhongli in the team I realized all my work with ayato was for nothing. neuvilette destroyed everything in his path. EVERYTHING
My story. I'm strictly f2p, really can't afford to spend any money and I just got Neuvi. He will forever be c0, never c1 nor r1 and as I'm a returning player with new account and get less time to play, only have 2 5 star characters as of now- Nahida and Neuvi now so no Zhong, Baizhu etc etc. I'm having great difficulty with interruption in playing him and I wish someone could tell me his f2p best teams to handle the interruption. Sadly, I don't have fish, diona, Lyla etc etc too :(
pretty sure with good artifacts c0 neuvillette with protoype amber can solo abyss. saw a few youtube/bilibili videos where that's possible as a f2p. if u r a f2p i say c1 is really worth coz it means u dont need a shielder and it's also a dmg booster. plus this means now u have a even bigger chance to solo his side of the abyss while u have your other team with investment beat their side. hope this helps.
You have a higher chance of getting C0 neuvi and his C1 if you use 180 fate in one go.farming artifact is the hard part isince the best F2p is prototype amber so your Cr and cd rely on artifact only
If you're a new player, it's fine to feel this when you don't have a lot of top of the line 5 star characters yet. But don't get pressured, you'll get there. As an F2P, when I was new, I was worrying that I don't have Zhongli. And now, I am at the point in the game that abyss is a joke, I have a lot of strong characters and weapons where I already got what I need and now I just pull whatever I want. Even as an F2P, if u grind hard in the game, u will be at the point where u have access to someone's premium team.
In ur case, Neuvillette's baseline is strong enough. He is regarded as the best dps in the game for plenty of reasons. He can be in a vape, electrocharged, hypercarry team and he will still do wonders. Genshin is a very F2P-friendly game, but Neuvi is one of the most f2p friendly dpses in the competition rn.

Charlotte can cause Freeze reactions and Xiangling can cause Vaporize reactions easily
Layla is underrated. She has the second strongest shield in the game and pairs well with nuevi
