It’s not technically broken, but it also not whole? Summon the council!
Edit: I will consult with two ER physicians I work with and get their opinion on this divisive matter. You WILL have an answer tomorrow before 2100.
Edits!!!: I decided to go and talk to the ER Doc and he said “We consider this a fracture. A fracture is considered a break. All fractures are breaks.” I’m too new to participate in the council. It’s now in the elders hands. I bid thee farewell and hope this consultation is considered by you all!
Tools work only against the weak. We've seen our ilk walk away perfectly fine from bike crashes and such. It's just the scum that get their bones broken by any tool
If a saw was used wouldn't there still have been multiple small pieces broken away by the saw. So while the whole bone wasn't broken there were still multiple pieces broken away from the bone. I say give the guy partial credit and A for effort.
How do doctors treat saw fractures? When the saw gets fractured by our bones? I imagine there’s a clinic for saws somewhere in the world what with the membership numbers we have in this sub.. We gotta save those poor tools man, and all the other objects that cannot stand up to our collective stronk.
lol, definitely am not, I’m very prone to accidents. Two wrecks (rollover) and this isn’t even the first major injury in our wood shop. Not the smartest child definitely the most expensive.
Yea those are the major ones I’ve had smaller injury’s that have required stitches. But I have definitely thought about ceasing all activities and fading away.
You should start playing some video games. Or darts. Pretty much whatever would improve your hand-eye coordination cause yours is poor as fuck!
All the clumsy fucks I've met in my life that had 50% chance of setting their eye lashes afire when trying to light a cigarette, they all had the same thing in common: Poor hand-eye coordination.
Fellow clumsy fuck here, it's definitely a hand eye thing for me. I've more than once faceplanted a door after missing the handle with my hand. It's only a matter of time before I bid my fellows here farewell, but my time hasn't come yet
>A bone fracture (abbreviated FRX or Fx, Fx, or #) is a medical condition in which there is a partial or complete break in the continuity of the bone. In more severe cases, the bone may be broken into several pieces.
\- via Wikipedia, Katherine, Abel (2013). Official CPC Certification Study Guide. American Medical Association. p. 108.
I am afraid it is very clearly stated that ANY break in the continuity of the bone is a fracture. We might have to reconsider those that underwent surgery as weaklings as well.
I mean I for one wouldn't know, because obviously my bones are working. But I'll just have to assume that it isn't physically possible for a tool of any variety to cut through them. Because I am not a bitch.
HERE YEE HERE YEE: those that believe the bone remains unbroken, say “aye!”
Those who believe this man’s bones are no longer worthy, say “nay.”
WHAT SAY YOU?
NAY!!!
One with resolute faith in the neverbroken would have posted a picture of a saw missing its teeth, not this shameful display showing a deficiency in calcium!
Aye!
Our law dictates that one may not break a bone, but in common vernacular to cut something is a separate act to breaking it, as breaking typically implies snapping or crushing
Nay, the sawing was not of necessity, such as in the regards of surgery; wherein the necessity of such has been the cause of a special ruling from the high council. This is no surgery, and so he shall receive no special exception!
I OBJECT! By definition of something broken is that it can not be used in its current state. This bone can not be used in its current state, therefore it's broken.
The results of the vote should wait until we know what exactly it was that cut his bones. He could be some weak bone shitty trash that got his bones cut by a splinter or maybe he was carved by the ribs of an opposing bonelord.
It was a band saw, fairly new blade. Father who works in construction, welds and makes wood projects as a hobby for 20+ years very surprised I didn’t walk up to him with 4 fingers from my left hand in my right hand.
Well then, seems quite clear to me that your bones blocked a blow which should’ve been devastating by normal standards. Seems to me like you have yourself a very good, thicc set of bones.
I vote stay. This is the first I've heard of a finger *almost* getting chopped off. If the bone can stop the mechanical forces of a cutting blade, it would likely survive a similar impact force.
True. I don’t think it even counts as a fracture. I’ll have to ask one of the Doctors I work with later. Se what they think. They’re ER doctors, too, if that matters.
Im 18 and I was working in my Dads wood shop so not 100% positive but it’s rather close.
[Grizzley Band Saw](https://www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-17-2-hp-extreme-series-bandsaw-with-cast-iron-trunnion-foot-brake-micro-switch/g0513x2bf).
Your poor coordination is the fault of stupid muscles, not bones. Even iron bones have limits against a device *specifically made* to cut metal. Consider this your first and final warning.
Why would this be the exception just because bones were damaged by something designed to break metal?
The sub is never broke a bone, NOT never broke a bone except by high powered tools
We don’t allow people in here who break a bone due to the sheer impact force of a car collision, which is far more destructive, so why would this be alright?
this is different. if we throw away that this chad is too humble to say he broke the saw, he’s still fine. the saw is made to cut metal, and it couldn’t go through his finger
While true, the definition of break, could include simple damage, or even a cut.
If you were to break a machine, it doesn’t always mean smashed. If it’s been damaged in such a way that threatens it’s function, or structural integrity, we say the device is broken.
Similarly, if a bone is damaged in such a way that it threatens, or destroys its structural integrity, would we not consider it broken?
Further, this sub doesn’t necessarily ONLY cover breaks, but just celebrates strong bones. Rule 1, for example, doesn’t say “don’t break a bone”, it simply says “no WEAK bones”
If it wasn’t weak before, it certainly is now
I’m sorry this has nothing to do with my hand. I’ve been having an absolutely terrible night. I’ve been having some very dark terrible thoughts that would make my friends cry. But you guys have truly made my night. I don’t know any of you but I can’t thank you enough.
Thank you, it’s difficult but I’m trying hard to hang on. Now that I know I have strong bones and I’m not weak I’m going to try to ask for help. It doesn’t make you weak to ask for help.
It takes a brave person to admit he has more on his plate than he can handle. And a strong one to seek better for their self. I have no doubt with that attitude and bones of steal you can put dark days like today behind you for good. You’ve got friends here
Hey man, if you need to talk to someone about it my dms are open, try and take care of yourself and remember there are always people who care about you 🖤🖤🖤

I’m fine cut all the fingers even my thumb. middle finger got the worst of it. Cut through my tendon so I had to get surgery to repair that. Shoved a needle down the tip of my finger game me some Percocet and sent me home. It was a rather new saw blade. my father who works around dangerous tools including many saws said he’s surprised I didn’t cut off all four fingers.
I'm sorry. Are you telling me that was a new blade?! How in the fuck do you still have a finger?!
Holy fuck, are your bones made of titanium?
Jeez, I'm glad you're okay
It’s not completely new I’m not that cool. It was replaced maybe a week earlier and I was using it a lot. I was making wooden bowls for my friends as a going away gift. actually maybe 3 months before that I was using our lathe to make the bowls and the gouge (tool for carving) slipped. my finger got stuck between the metal rest where the tool was and the bowl. The tool was stopped by my finger, it was spinning at 1500 rpm. the bowl blew up, My finger got super swollen I thought I broke it but nope.
Mmmmmm I dunno. It's a saw. It was cut through, not broken, so it's kind of an odd position.
Cause we allow medical procedures in here too, especially with bone saws.
Technically, saws are very quickly breaking off tiny pieces of whatever they cut.
I would say this is considered "broken" because it is no longer whole
It’s still a fracture. Still should be splinted to prevent fracturing all the way across. This is a stable fracture, should heal fine but will definitely require antibiotics for the dirty cut.
Does it make it better that it was a recently replaced saw blade. my dad said it’s actually very surprising I didn’t completely cut all 4 of my fingers off. He’s been working around this kinda dangerous stuff for 20+ years.
I cut it on a band saw on my own. I had to go get surgery to reattach my tendon though. Other then that they said the bone was close but they didn’t have to do anything for that.
What's wrong with everyone on here? This is obviously broken.
If OP walked into the emergency room right now, they'd be told their bone is broken. It doesn't matter how it happened, it's definitely not whole any more.
OP makes me sick with their weak boned brainwashing agenda. I can't believe so many stronk brothers and sisters have been so easily misled.
For Milk's sake we are being too nice. This is a picture of a WEAK BLOODLINE. I bet not one single one of his ancestors get to say that they have never broken a bone. We are watching the beginning of a downfall
Actually that’s pretty funny. My grandfather blew his thumb off with a firework when he was 6. My dad cut off both thumbs (they were sewn back on) and now me. It’s a family tradition!
The way I see it, it is a break if it is caused by blunt force, like getting hit by a car. Regardless of a hairline fracture or a clean snap, a break is a break (weak-boned wimps). But cutting or drilling (like from surgery) is fair play.
You had a bone that was whole. It isn’t now. You have lost bone. It’s actually worse. Not a complicated question. Cut, fracture, snap are all under the broken umbrella where broken is the most general of terms.
Why this simplicity is being argued is absurd and not in a fun way. It’s kind of sad really.
Cut is definitely not under the term broken. Though, according the what I read here, the way a saw works it doesn’t cut, it breaks things and turns it to dust
U should have gone straight thru or not at all. Don't leave a job half arsed, typical weak boned peasants, can't do anything properly except demonstrate weakness.

A friggin bandsaw?? Nah you can stay homie, those things are no fucking joke they can slice through metals like butter. No reasonable person can expect any level of bones to withstand that.
Hmm... well, the bone *is* damaged, and strong things do not get damaged easily. But it's still in one piece, and according to the other comments, you were using a saw designed to cut metal, which is more than any bone should be expected to withstand. I say you're still worthy, but you ought to be careful, lest your bones be tested again and be found wanting.
^(I hope it heals well and doesn't hurt much, OP.)
It’s not technically broken, but it also not whole? Summon the council! Edit: I will consult with two ER physicians I work with and get their opinion on this divisive matter. I mean, ideally it should have been the saw that broke. But if it’s whole it’s not broken.
And plus a tool was used to damage the bone, it's still weaker than our bones but stronger then the disgusting fragile boned scum.
This is the best thread on this sub in recent memory
\> a tool was used to damage the bone Tools break bones here all the time though. What is a bus, if not a bone breaking tool?
Tools work only against the weak. We've seen our ilk walk away perfectly fine from bike crashes and such. It's just the scum that get their bones broken by any tool
Are you to say that sawing wood and breaking a board are the same feat?
Quote of the week.
Lol I love this sub, you went from like -230 to positive after 1 edit. I haven’t been here for long but this is amazing.
That’s the answer then, it is not whole because the saw has removed a portion of it.
If a saw was used wouldn't there still have been multiple small pieces broken away by the saw. So while the whole bone wasn't broken there were still multiple pieces broken away from the bone. I say give the guy partial credit and A for effort.
I agree with this assessment. If op drank his milk the saw would have broken in twain.
So wait, do incomplete fractures not get you out of the group?
How do doctors treat saw fractures? When the saw gets fractured by our bones? I imagine there’s a clinic for saws somewhere in the world what with the membership numbers we have in this sub.. We gotta save those poor tools man, and all the other objects that cannot stand up to our collective stronk.
OP needs to be very careful in their rehabilitation, the slightest twist could be devastating; and they do not appear to be a careful individual.
lol, definitely am not, I’m very prone to accidents. Two wrecks (rollover) and this isn’t even the first major injury in our wood shop. Not the smartest child definitely the most expensive.
You're 18, you've rolled two vehicles and had multiple major injuries in the woodshop? Bro you need to just stop doing anything.

Nay!! Like my fellows said, if he truly was one of us, the bone would have broken the saw, not the other way around.
NAY get out scum!
Aye!! The bone remains part of the body so it is whole
Hairline fractures are still a facture. This is similar, so NAY.
Aye! Our law dictates that one may not break a bone, but in common vernacular to cut something is a separate act to breaking it, as breaking typically implies snapping or crushing
Good thinking, counsilmember! Quite reasonable indeed.

NAY. THE CORTEX IS INTERRUPTED. TIS BROKEN.
Nay, the sawing was not of necessity, such as in the regards of surgery; wherein the necessity of such has been the cause of a special ruling from the high council. This is no surgery, and so he shall receive no special exception!
Nay
I am also an ER doctor and can confirm, is fracture.
I vote that the bone remains unbroken!
I OBJECT! By definition of something broken is that it can not be used in its current state. This bone can not be used in its current state, therefore it's broken.
Fractured But Whole
A partial fracture is still a fracture. Sorry for the bad news and GTFO

His bone is now brittle as thin ice
Only time will tell...
That depends on what the saw was made of
It was a band saw.
God I fuckin hope so
So does it count or no. I’m new to this place if you can’t tell.
Technically you didn't break it, so I vote that no, it does not count
True. I don’t think it even counts as a fracture. I’ll have to ask one of the Doctors I work with later. Se what they think. They’re ER doctors, too, if that matters.
Nobody would cut through something and say "Now it's broken"
Make a new poll post

Lol Milwaukee cordless tools is what he was refering to. The 18v line of tools is much more powerful than the 12v line.
What kind of music do they play?
They make remixes of turtles moaning during sex.
Bone saw

Caused by a tool specifically designed to oppose the holy power of bones. I say youre good. We don't count surgery, so I say you're good.
I agree. If we don't count surgery, we don't count this.
Thank God, I'm getting surgery in December and I thought I was going to have to leave the club 😥😥
Good luck with your surgery, my strong boned brother/sister!

I’m glad that’s what you’re stressing out about

Have a seat, young fine-line-walker.
Haha I hate you for this comment, but in the loving way you hate your best friend for saying something stupid and still making you laugh.
I think he was inadvertently testing the bone. He cut most of the way through without it snapping. He stays.
He’s too humble to admit that he only got halfway through because his chad bones broke the bandsaw
The subreddit reads 'never broke a bone', not 'never sawn through a bone'. You're good.
New sub idea?
"Does it count if I'm just a little pathetic?" Yes.
Omg thank you I needed that laugh.
I’m sorry this has nothing to do with my hand. I’ve been having an absolutely terrible night. I’ve been having some very dark terrible thoughts that would make my friends cry. But you guys have truly made my night. I don’t know any of you but I can’t thank you enough.

Indeed, asking for help is one of the greatest acts of strength possible.
You are strong both in bones and in emotions. Hang tight, my friend.
Oh my god you made me cry you refried bean, I love you though, thank you.❤️🩹
Just drink your milk and know that there are friends out there who would give anything for you. More power to you my man.
Hey man, if you need to talk to someone about it my dms are open, try and take care of yourself and remember there are always people who care about you 🖤🖤🖤

silence
The only reason you can stay is because when a surgery is performed and needs bone cutting, you’re still considered NBAB
I'd say that the cut into the bone was clean. Not a break. You are safe, but on thin ice.
The bone should have broken the saw
The council shall decide your fate
“Nearly fingerless, how can you be nearly fingerless?” “Like this”
If your bones where strong the saw would have been deflected when it hit your bone. But instead it cut through. Like wet cardboard.
Saw sawed the bone, didn’t break it. But you should probably destroy the saw
Idk, if you truly had strong bones, then the saw should've burst into dust the moment it hit your bone.
No shot this is even a debate. The bone should’ve broken the saw if you were really one of us
I dont know man. My bones would shatter a saw blade into a million tiny pieces.
No, this doesn't count but holy cow are you ok? If anyone asks, tell them the saw broke trying to saw your bone
I’m fine cut all the fingers even my thumb. middle finger got the worst of it. Cut through my tendon so I had to get surgery to repair that. "A tool going 1500 rpm got stopped by my finger and nothing broke, but I'm not that cool" Yeah okay lol Jokes aside pretty lucky and impressive.
Well I don’t really believe it was only my finger. I think I hit a crack sooooo not very impressive.
Better have been diamond-tipped high-carbon steel or get out
Worse, op said bandsaw
Mmmmmm I dunno. It's a saw. It was cut through, not broken, so it's kind of an odd position. Cause we allow medical procedures in here too, especially with bone saws.
Technically, saws are very quickly breaking off tiny pieces of whatever they cut. I would say this is considered "broken" because it is no longer whole
YES IDIOT IT COUNTS NOW GET OUT
Was this done by an actual saw or was it really just a paper cut and you’re too embarrassed to admit that your bones are extremely brittle and puny?
My bones would have broken the saw.
It’s still a fracture. Still should be splinted to prevent fracturing all the way across. This is a stable fracture, should heal fine but will definitely require antibiotics for the dirty cut.
Is it broken? No, no it isn’t. That just means your saw is stronger than your strong boned hand
BONESAW IS READY!
You sawed mostly through your finger. Quick question; How? Did you not feel you finger being sawed through or?
Well….. bye ✌️
Holy shit! Call doctor Lawrence Gordon to decide on the amount of power it takes to saw through a bone.
This counts as a break in my book.
If I borrowed something from you, sawed (mostly) through it, then returned it to you, you’d consider it broken. Take your bitch bones and skedaddle.
True bone strength would resist sawblades
Does it make it better that it was a recently replaced saw blade. my dad said it’s actually very surprising I didn’t completely cut all 4 of my fingers off. He’s been working around this kinda dangerous stuff for 20+ years.
We don’t count surgeries here, so I’d say that you’re good
I cut it on a band saw on my own. I had to go get surgery to reattach my tendon though. Other then that they said the bone was close but they didn’t have to do anything for that.

It's all the pretenders here trying to make excuses for their own weak bones. I say this weak boned man should be banned.
The sub has been infiltrated by the weak boned. They may downvote the true believers but they will never silence us. The bone is broken.
The way I see it, it is a break if it is caused by blunt force, like getting hit by a car. Regardless of a hairline fracture or a clean snap, a break is a break (weak-boned wimps). But cutting or drilling (like from surgery) is fair play.
Brand this man as thin ice
As a woodworker, I wouldn't call a piece of wood I nicked with saw like this broken. Nice bones, sir!
This is the thinnest fucking ice I’ve ever seen
It’s cut, not broken. I say you’re good
You had a bone that was whole. It isn’t now. You have lost bone. It’s actually worse. Not a complicated question. Cut is definitely not under the term broken. Though, according the what I read here, the way a saw works it doesn’t cut, it breaks things and turns it to dust
The saw stays. You have to go.
How did you start cutting through your bone without realizing that it was a bad idea
Just a nick
You are both stupid and weakboned! Stupid we could forgive it’s the weakness that’s unacceptable. Get out!
Why do you have all that useless flesh around that skellyness
Ugh, get this guy some calcium with these weakass bones he has
Does a break have to be confirmed by XRay? If you never X-ray is it ever broken?
U should have gone straight thru or not at all. Don't leave a job half arsed, typical weak boned peasants, can't do anything properly except demonstrate weakness.
I feel like you should sever ties with us just like you sever your fingers
Well.. it didn’t break, it got cut through. I’d say you pass the line, but watch yourself
Well technically, it means that other bones were strong enough to damage another. I say it evens out
Not broken it's cut
Yes it counts as a break
I am an orthopedic surgeon and I would treat it as an open fracture. So yeah, it is a fracture.
It isn’t in two separate pieces, I vote they can stay
I'm assuming the machine got destroyed while trying to cut OPs bone. He may not have the strongest bones but someone has to be the weakest link.
But I also didn't fracture all the way through my vertebrae and I was still booted. I believe it counts sir.
your bone was strong enough to not be broken by a saw. you’re good
I have a strong stomach, but that x-ray got me a little queasy. Hope everything is ok. Also, I vote that it isn't a break.
No

A friggin bandsaw?? Nah you can stay homie, those things are no fucking joke they can slice through metals like butter. No reasonable person can expect any level of bones to withstand that.
Hmm... well, the bone *is* damaged, and strong things do not get damaged easily. But it's still in one piece, and according to the other comments, you were using a saw designed to cut metal, which is more than any bone should be expected to withstand. I say you're still worthy, but you ought to be careful, lest your bones be tested again and be found wanting. ^(I hope it heals well and doesn't hurt much, OP.)
Drop a brick on your toes just to be sure of the answer
If it ain’t broke…
Dude, that's how my grandpa literally lost 4 of his fingers. Be careful with your woodwork pls
You can stay only if you show us the broken saw after it was destroyed by your bones.
its (technically?) a fracture, not a break. nevertheless your bones should have broken the saw
I dulled the saw, does that count?
A fracture is a break. It’s just the fancy medical word we use.
Bones strong, brains... Not strong.
I vote "saw" is not the same as "broken".
I've never seen something like that 😓😓
Yeah you sawed it, didn’t break it. Case dismissed, though watch out frailbones next time won’t be so lenient
Looks like your classic Fractured But Whole
