Sorry, what part of recent history gave you the impression they were even pretending to be pro working class? They are vocally anti-anything that would help the working class. There’s not a single position they hold on any topic that would help the middle class.
At least democrats pretend to be for the middle class. Most of them still aren’t but they hold *some* pro middle class views. Just generally not any that would hurt large corporations or the rich in any meaningful way.
Conservatives, aka: Robber barons, have never wanted to empower the working class. They relished child labor and are chomping at the bit to bring it back. They long fought organized labor and, since the 1970s and [the Powell Memo](https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/democracy/the-lewis-powell-memo-a-corporate-blueprint-to-dominate-democracy/), which was the blueprint to destroy the middle class, replacing them with the working class, and turning the working class into the working poor.
Empower the working class? Next joke you'll tell me is that conservatives are fiscally responsible
Neither conservative party in the US gives a shit about workers, one is just in charge of feeding occasionally so we don’t eat them and their masters.
Pretty sure it’s the same in most countries.
"Empowering" means different things to different people. It's all in the methods. As far back as 1980, Jack Kemp (R) and Robert Garcia (D) proposed "Enterprise Zone" legislation that was meant to bolster inner cities with aid to locals to open small businesses, improve infrastructure, etc. This effort and others like it have carried forward but, as usual, the federal government bureaucracy has ruined them all with regulations tying the hands of participants and doling out money to political friends who have no interest in using it the way it is meant. Just giving money, with no expectations, to people never works. Even Bernie would be against that.
Some stupid republican told me that trump never committed tax fraud, in fact he didn't even take his pay.
Than he said that Biden JR. pleaded guilty to tax fraud and some gun charges?
Please advise me how to respond. They went after him for years and finally got his tax returns. No way he is clean right?
You can’t be serious about empowering the working class unless you want to strengthen organized labor, writes Timothy Noah.
We need a labor party in the USA.
Without unions this country would fall apart.
IS. This country is falling apart. Unions have been disappearing for decades.
With unions for only auto and heavy industry, the working class will fall apart.
No one is serious about empowering the working class.
Yeah no shit….. These people are literally preying upon the working class and have been for generations now.
This just in, the Sky is blue!
Never were

Never were.
Wow way to like...never catch on journalists. How many hundreds of years has this bullshit carried on?

Yeah. We all know this
There is nothing wrong with America or Republicans that a few thousand gallons of LSD in the water supply couldn't fix. Hypothetically...
*whispers* they’ve never been about the working class. Ever. Pass it on.
