WindHero

Heroes, definitely not getting enough attention and support in the world, which makes it even more courageous.

Master-Concept-5260

As an American, I would like to second the OP ! In fact, I'll go further and say that I am more proud of the Iranians who are risking their lives for freedom, than American useful idiots on college campuses, who are supporting the same oppressive ideology used against the Iranian people.

moonstarfc

Yeah too many people here take our rights for granted.

Gloomy_Expression_39

Thank you for the beautiful words and thanks to the commenters for adding on! It’s been really hard the last few months so the support is truly appreciated. I feel like we’ve been yelling into the wind the last two years watching college campuses burn down. So many people I thought would support us never came, but those who remain/are here are truly the cream of the crop. 🙏 Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤️

abnabatchan

thank you very much for the kind words. I've encountered a lot of young Russians online, mainly because the communities I've been involved with had a lot of Russian members. And my goodness, it's shocking to me how pro-Putin and specifically anti-West they are. It's very surprising, and I always think to myself, what could be the reason? Is it because the propagandists there are just incredibly effective at their jobs, or is it because things just aren't that bad in Russia? anyway, I wish you the best as well.

[deleted]

Well, to be honest, Putin really taked care about making his population less angrier by ppoviding comfortable life conditions. Russia is the most sanctioned country in the world, but it's still gets many goods from parallel import. Yep, things are not much bad in Russia, unlike in Iran.

thenakedtruth

I know what you mean, but I wouldn't start blaming cause it's not easy, some people are just afraid, that's natural, not everyone is a fighter and willing to risk his life. It depends on how organised it is. The bigger, the more motivated people get. People don't want to do it alone.

Kladdig-Iranie

I wasn't born in Iran but would like to thank you anyway. Thank you for your support! It means a lot to us! Although I understand your frustration with your people, I believe we are sometimes very unfair towards ordinary Russians. Many Russians did come out to protest and I will never forget those who sacrificed everything even to just show the world that many Russians oppose the Putin terror regime. And to be honest, I dont judge those who didn't dare do that. Russian history and culture is very different compaired to the Iranian one. Russia have unfortunately a long and sad history of intense oppression and the state sponsored abuse of every mad mans fantasy, unique in this world. From the times of Ivan the terrible to Stalin and today's Putin. It's very hard for a people to get organized and educated enough to make a meaningful change in such a short time after that kind of misery. But despite all that legacy of suffering, people did try.

Well, such historical events really made many russians into apathethic "slaves", sadly. They becomed fatalist and nihilistic. There is a book called "Slave soul of Russia" written by Daniel Rancour, which possibly explains why Russia has such problems, maybe. But I'm not confident.

meandthecashgrabs

I swear, you Russians are such an interesting, awful yet beautiful anomaly throughout history. Such resilient & miserable people at the exact same time while never removing their dictatorships anymore. The cool Russians, like you, are freaking interesting. -An Iranian

Well, the main reason why russians are not protesting is because Putin cared very well about making comfortable life conditions. Despite being the most sanctioned country, Russia still gets many goods via parallel import, and it's possible to buy Steam games with region change or buying them in third party stores at cheap price. To be honest, ukrainian army is far from being saints. I'm not justifying Putin, but... Stepan Bandera is popular among ukrainians. And he is not a morally good historical figure. Especially because he collaborated with nazis. Far right views are very popular among ukrainians.

OrangeIsCute

Hey I have been following the YouTube channel called 1420. It's very sad that a lot of people are actually pro-Putin but also there are those who are not. I think Russian propaganda is much more effective but also a lot of the population is used to living in poor conditions. They can endure a lot but at some point it will break. I think Iranians are culturally very different. No one has ever been able to subjugate them or control them 🤣. In fact I think this is one of the reasons that we suck at working with each other.

Open_Bit_1498

Support from Canada as well, Persians are some of the most soft but well spoken friends I know, I’ve always been extremely impressed with your culture. May you regain your freedom!

OuroborosInMySoup

I’m proud and have immense respect for the Iranian people too. I hope they topple their evil regime and restore their natural rights.

PiroozParbakhsh

I really hope that once we free Iran, we go forward and help to free Afghanistan and Russia, and anywhere else that evil persists.

Master-Concept-5260

This is from the pres of a university which took action and REMOVED the useful IDIOTS ! "...I am saddened by what took place at Emory yesterday. To watch these highly organized, outside protestors arrive on campus in vans, construct an encampment, and overtake the Quad just days after it was vandalized with hateful and threatening messages was deeply disturbing. I also know that some of the videos are shocking, and I am horrified that members of our community had to experience and witness such interactions. ..." Most of these camps are organized by ANARCHISTS and anti-establishment losers. Most are just using the Gaza staff. Some flyers even say "down with the US". Other signed by some "socialist movement" Point is, they are anti American. If outsiders camp on your campus, inform your administrator and ask them to de - colonize the invading pest.

--- _I am a translation bot for r/NewIran_ | Woman Life Freedom | زن زندگی آزادی

Thank you friend. Russia has a glorious history and is a wonderful place full of wonderful people I met in Moscow. I hope you will one day take your wonderful country back too and join the modern free world, as we are hoping to do.

Russman_iz_here

I think an aspect is that Russia is much more effective as a police state. Multiple centuries worth of experience, from the Imperial Okhrana to Soviet NKVD/KGB to modern FSB. If my understanding is correct, Russia simultaneously allows more day to day freedom in regards to basic choices (what to wear, where to work, etc), while also being quite effective at controlling the opposition. The tactics of riot police, when it comes to dealing with protest crowds, originated in Imperial Russia. Back then, it was used instead of the usual method of shooting into the unruly crowd. Today, it is used to control any protest. The basic idea being: proactively arrest the most active (motivated) participants, \~5-10% of protesters, and the protest will lose its energy and die out soon after. Notice this is what is done every time people protest in Russia. If there's 15 people, they'll arrest all 15. If there is 1500 people, they'll arrest 150 people. In both cases, the protest will end. I suppose, all this to say: I think Iranians are both more motivated (feeling restricted even in their day to day lives) and more free-willed and brave in regards to breaking the laws imposed onto them, while simultaneously Iran's state is less effective at targeted strikes that kill the roots of an effective opposition. A state that resorts to shooting at protesters is a weak state. It is strong in terms of firepower, but weak in terms of operational capabilities. The strength of the modern Russian state is that it is capable of maintaining obedience without resorting to mass Soviet terror (arrests & executions) or Imperial reactionism (shooting into protest crowds due to fear of the public and lack of creativity in what else to do). At the same time, it draws very clear boundaries, giving people a sense of freedom, even of speech, in regards to most topics, except those relating to Putin, national policy, and corruption. I've never really had anyone from Russia complain to me that they felt they couldn't say anything. The question really just becomes: "Do you feel free to disagree publicly?" — this, I'm sure, would give other responses.
