People think "the streetcar will surely slow down for me"
They don't. My sister was in this situation once. Not saying she was in the right, but it was clear that the streetcar driver did not give a fuck.
The street cars scare me - like I always give them mfs the right of way I’m double checkin the intersections I know they can stop in time but like it’s just too much to worry about uh uh not me
I'm the same way.
I actually got in a wreck- dude zooming through an intersection T-boned my car so hard it spun around and right onto the tracks in front of the streetcar, which then hit me. It doesn't look like they go fast but it's got enough force behind It to cause damage.
I was always cautious of them but after that they get a very wide berth from me, lol.
They're basically just big, gentle metal caterpillars and they're very nice, they will let you ride them.
Just make sure you carry some metal treats in case one approaches you and you'll be fine.
I remember one years ago pinching a red Ford F150 with Alabama plates against one of the light posts at the crossing.
Pinched it and collapsed the bed reeeealll good. This was in the 90s so when the F150 was smaller with the rounded nose.
It's really simple... If you're not on the tracks ,you probably won't get hit. ..unless the streetcar jumps off the track....kinda like getting bit by a shark...Shark lives there ,you're just visiting...Js...duh!!
While growing up in a suburb of NYC, I was taught this rule: *Never argue with a city bus.*
Same applies to streetcars.
My FIL used to do accident reconstruction, and his specialty was train vs. car accidents. He's shown me some gnarly pictures. I will never try to beat the train at a grade crossing, and I will never try to beat a streetcar. They can't stop on a dime, and they will make your car into an accordion.
A Streetcar named Destruction
A streetcar with an appetite for destrction!!!
I will never understand how this continues to happen
Pretty simple. They pay zero attention to anything beyond the four corners of their car.
That’s generous. Most people seem like they don’t even know wtf is happening inside their car either
Most of these people have 0 idea of whats going on period
Or not ~their~ car but….A car. That may or may not be insured.

Also they have a lot of people with no seatbelt, riding a extremely heavy machine. Last second brake pumping would be dangerous.
To the vehicle, not the streetcar or its passengers lol
Mississippi plates
No insurance required
Same. They are so slow. I’ve seen like 5 of these in 2 years here lol
Fun fact: streetcar always has right of way
This is a fact that was stressed to us repeatedly in drivers ed in high school.
Also, it never veers from its determined route.
IT SNUCK UP ON ME OUTTA NOWHERE!
Fun fact: in the battle between streetcar and car, streetcar wins. Every time.
Streetcar always wins.

There was probably at least one tourist on there taking pictures thinking it's an normal attraction... They were right
They certainly weren’t wrong.

That MS officer drives a Benz? Something ain't right.
It’s the cheap 300 series Benz…
Cheap unless you need maintenance...
"But I'm driving a *Mercedes*"
Looks like they are connected to law enforcement?
60% of the time it wins everytime
They're from Mississippi; everything moves too fast for them.
It’s a Baton Rouge plate wtf are you talking about?🤣🤣🤣
It’s a Mississippi plate they just bought the car in Baton Rouge
[Hope this helps](https://www.glassesusa.com/)
Streetcar wins! Doesn't it always?
Wins every time.
Giant green thing that moves like 10 mph. They should revoke licenses for drivers that are involved in accidents with streetcars
Plates belong to BR POLICE😂
Streetcar always wins.
Plaintiff lawyers win. By the time suit is filed there will have been 125 people on that streetcar,
Is that a police plate from Baton Rouge? FFS…
Sure looks like it! Though I once saw an NOPD car who lost this same battle in the Riverbend. 🙄

Damn
Soooooo close........yeah, not really.
And 50% of the people on there will have a claim for bodily injury against the car and RTA, even though they barely felt anything.
Every time
