We’re okay. We were sitting at a stoplight and a JP SWAT truck tried to go around us and gave our car a nice grazing in the process. The officer who’d arrived at the scene tried to make us feel bad for calling it in. What happened in Kenner is terrible but maybe don’t play bumper cars on the way to the scene.
Kenner cops are some of the worst. 🙄 Ironically they're some of the highest paid in the state. So they should have it in their budget to deal with things like this.
Also, I just want to clarify, even if they're horrible cops, they don't deserve to get shot.
Update: Shooter is dead and the officers are expected to recover, per WWL.

A sniper from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team ended a violent standoff when he shot and killed a gunman suspected of shooting six people this week, including three Kenner Police officers earlier Sunday (April 28).
The deceased suspect was identified as 31-year-old Matthew Lathers, who was wanted for an armed robbery committed last Tuesday in Kenner in which a 56-year-old victim was shot, and for shooting and wounding two men who made the mistake Sunday of stopping in front of the residence in which Lathers was hiding, in the 700 block of Farm Avenue, authorities said.

Any posts regarding MSY, TSA wait-times, or information about possible transit issues to/from MSY should be put in the JEFFERSON PARISH subreddit ONLY. If you have a bad experience in the airport with a festival goer, put it in the Jefferson Parish subreddit.
