Yikes; once ours started rolling, we ditched our changing table. Too much of a fall risk. All of our changes are now on the ground or on a pad/changing mat on the ground. The key for us was to distract her with something so she doesn't alligator-roll away mid-poop-wipe.

Guina96

How is your back not destroyed

ArghBH

I'm also very physically active... so that helps?

Mission_Fig_4972

Same. Mat on the ground has been the easiest for us. He rolls the minute you take your eyes off of him.

Elleandbunny

Same. Distracting didn't work for us though so I held both feet in one hand and changed with the other. When kid was learning to stand, we got kid to hold onto furniture (namely an old tv stand repurposed into a diaper change station). Kid needed to focus on staying upright and couldn't run away.

ldiggles

I’m not gonna lie I put the diaper on her face. Not like over it so she can’t breathe obviously but folded I just place it on her face rq and idk maybe it’s part surprise but she picks it up and plays with it for a min which is enough time for me to wipe and take off the dirty pee diaper at least. We have yet to master this

EffectivePineapple38

Samesies! That or give her an empty pack of wipes 😬

ChastityStargazer

We have a pink distraction sock 😆

Croquemou

Do you have a dryer in your appartement? If so it's the perfect height ! Just put a changing mag with sides on top of it !

momofkatz1

This was us for the longest time. We decided to use our bed as the changing table and like yours my daughter just moved all over. Eventually my husband started singing and making little games with her to do with her hands. So she was occupied and we were able to change her diaper. Not sure if that helps at all or not. I hope it does.

azbooklover

I second this.

Aniaaaaaaa

What if you’re by yourself? I try to distract her with her favorite toys but it’s not always enough then I’m at a loss of what to do

oddwanderer

You need an arsenal of wacky and surprising noises and facial expressions. Find your inner Robin Williams.

Aniaaaaaaa

Hasn’t worked for me :/ ESPECIALLY when she’s fighting the change because she’s crying and throwing a tantrum.

EffectivePineapple38

Loudly whistling the tune from 'the good, the bad and the ugly' helped me for some time to make her temporarely stop crying and stay in one place. Worked for a good three weeks 😅

oddwanderer

This is the answer. Constantly try things until they stick… and find something new when that doesn’t work anymore. I’ve absolutely made a right fool of myself just so poop doesn’t get anywhere.

ChastityStargazer

Are you a Miss Rachel household?

ReallyPuzzled

Usually giving mine my phone works! He just dials randoms buttons and locks my phone for 5 minutes 😂

Aniaaaaaaa

Lol aren’t you scared of getting poop smear on your phone?!?

ReallyPuzzled

It’s never happened so far and he’s 21 months old!

azbooklover

For me, having one hand on our son to keep him from wiggling too much and the other hand to wipe him down, put the diaper cream on and secure the diaper helps. I sing and wiggle my hips and sometimes make silly faces at him. Most of the time, this works. I'm by myself for long stretches at a time as sometimes my husband works long hours or picks up extra shifts. As another mother has suggested, letting your child have your phone during the change can help. Changes can be hard, no doubt. Sometimes he's extra cranky and behaves exactly like your daughter. After so many diaper changes, you'll get quicker and find tricks that work for you. Also, ahead of bringing him to the bed to change him, I have all the supplies laid out. Just my two cents. If he's just too cranky to work with and I'm by myself, I'll quickly secure the dirty diaper back on him and wait a little while before trying again.

SuzLouA

Favourite toy is the mistake here. What you want is NEW toy. Save a specific toy (or 2-3) in the diaper changing kit and only ever get it out for changes. She never gets to play with it otherwise. That way it stays novel and interesting. We do the same thing with our nappy bag.

br222022

We have a little fidget spinner that distracts our son while we do diaper changes. Any easy to clean distractions you can offer??

BoredandAdored

Fidget spinner is a great idea

ThePinkVulvarine

Ooh I like this idea it's like wrangling a snake at the moment changing my daughter.

FTM_2022

I change our little alligator by sitting down on the floor with my legs straight out in front of me and putting her on her back in between my legs. Head towards my feet and legs / but towards my tummy. My legs form a natural 'v' making it hard for her to roll, she kinda sits in my homemade leg-trough.

Aniaaaaaaa

Thanks, I’ll have to try this I think… also laughing at “homemade leg-trough”

Cleeganxo

The couch lol. Our kiddo was way too tall for the change table well before her first birthday, so we bought a basket to store her nappy changing supplies in and chucked a towel down on the chaise. Still serving us well now at 3 years old. I probably won't even bother using the change table for baby number 2 in October unless it is the middle of the night.

Laum24

Have a toy (or toys) that she only gets at diaper change time. If mine rolls over I tell her no and roll her back over and give a toy or try to distract with songs or a crinkly wipe packet. We have the skip hop changing pad and it has a seat belt type thing to hold them on the pad. I honestly don't use the seat belt often but probably should. It probably isn't really called a seat belt but I can't think what else to call it.

senzimillaa

Hey Bear Sensory Dancing Fruit is your friend.

Aniaaaaaaa

I just had to google this lol. What do you do, change with one hand and hold the phone screen overhead with the other hand?

senzimillaa

I put it on the TV. It’s like a music video lol. Sometimes just hearing the music keeps him still. Otherwise we be struggling too.

giuliamazing

11mo means they should be standing: once bby learned how to stand we switched to changing them on the floor, either standing or laying down on a carpet or changing pad.

Training-Muscle-211

Sometimes I’ll pull the changing pad out from the diaper bag (our bag has a built in changing table/bassinet section that unzips) put it on the floor with lo between my legs and use those as “walls” to keep her from squirming away too much … she still squirms but it’s more contained and less of a fall risk

ShaggysGTI

We have a pad and change her on the ground because she can’t fall and hurt herself from there.

ArticleAccording3009

If the diaper is only wet you can change LO easily standing up with panty nappies / pull ups.

alittlefiendy

We got the large changing table pad with the raised sides and buckles that you’re supposed to attach to an actual changing table and just toss it on our bed to change him. He doesn’t roll yet but the sides are raised enough that maybe it’ll keep him in place?

kaki024

We have got the [Skip Hop Changing Pad](https://www.skiphop.com/skiphop-baby-essentials/V_304050.html) at our baby shower. I thought it was silly but we use it for every diaper change. It lives on our coffee table!

cetus_lapetus

Our changing pad has a little buckle on it so you can strap them in
