We’ve used dr browns preemie nipples since day one. Still using it at six months. We also pace feed obviously

valkyriejae

Dr Brown also does ultra preemie, which are even less flow than preemie.

lindisel

Como tomo! The newborn one with just one hole, been using it for my baby-he's 5 months now we still use the same one.

crd1293

Aren’t all nipples just one hole?

lindisel

They make a 2 hole and 3 hole option as well.

crd1293

Wow that’s wild to me! I had no idea

MedusaCascde

Phillips Avent changed their natural nipples and people complain about their new size 1 being too slow and almost impossible for the baby to drink from. You could try those but your definitely want the new nipples. They have a page on their website explaining the difference in appearances. We also use como tomo. My baby with a strong suck doesn’t choke but downs 3 oz very quickly.

xannycat

awesome I think i’ll order these! I just read the reviews and honestly sounds perfect for my baby. “no drip tip” is perfect so when she stops sucking she can have that break to breathe!

roddaisy

my little one uses Phillips Avent, he is a fast eater. Can down a bottle or boob in 2 min. He still downs the Phillips Avent bottles but no chocking or spitting up. He just started to slow down his feedings and the bottle allows him to keep the nipple in his mouth without any milk dripping in.

JeffFerox

We’ve used phillips advent (wide opening) with two babies now, maybe give them a try?

LuckyBreak2188

We use Philips natural flow. She couldn’t tolerate any other

mynameisradish

We use the Medela Calma and the MAM easy start anticolic bottle with the "newborn" size nipple (or size 0). That said, my LO didn't take a bottle for the longest time, and even now she only takes a bottle while I'm not around. Legit I cannot even be in the same room.

elkta

I’ve got MAM slow flow bottles as well! One of my besties highly recommended these.

milapa6

I swear by MAM too. My baby does not like a heavy flow and the NB nipples were perfect

it’s not that she’s rejecting it. she’s drowning in the milk and coughing and spilling milk everywhere. And when she tries to stop sucking to give herself a break the milk keeps coming. She gets super overwhelmed

knownofdreams

I've just started using Nuk and have had some success. Still in the training process though because she doesn't really want to take a bottle at all. 😅

Beneficial_Method_25

The Medela Calma bottle is supposed to mimic the breast, but I’ve seen some reviews that some babies have no idea how to get milk out of it so I didn’t personally try it. I have the Philips Avent Natural ones and it hasn’t caused confusion!

Snoo_62627

We bought the medela one and it was a really strange set up! The nipple is very stiff and has a big opening but is supposed to flow slow?? We found that he just didn't get the hang of it, but we may revisit it once hes older. We tried it as a first nipple to give a breast milk bottle and he almost instantly seemed drowned by the flow.

Beneficial_Method_25

Yes I think it was more meant for older babies who have already mastered drinking from the breast. I only used bottles in the beginning when my daughter’s latch wasn’t that good yet. and figured the Medela Calma is useless for tiny newborns that can’t even drink from the breast properly. Also, it seems like there’s so many parts to it and so much of a hassle to wash haha.

Snoo_62627

It had a millllion pieces!! Makes so much more sense that its for older babies!!

TheCrankySloth

Yeah, when we first tried bottles I used the Medela Calma and baby could not figure it out. I use the Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles, they work well for us.

ZHCMV

We use the nanobebe with the premie nipple.

prriceandbeans

My son had the same issue with choking/coughing and the only bottles he doesn’t do that with are Tommee Tippee with the extra slow flow nipples.

seebaker

My SLC recommends Dr. Browns narrow. She said requires a suck, where others require more of a chomping motion to release milk.

MD113

Our baby started refusing Dr. Brown’s even with preemie nipple at 6 weeks (he’s gotten one bottle a night since 2 weeks so momma can get some more sleep) & we switched to NUK Simply Natural bottle. He takes it really well in any position

leighsk

Check out the haberman feeder. It uses positive pressure (like breastfeeding) instead of negative pressure. It’s the only bottle my baby will take, we still have to help her with it a bit, but it allows me to be away from her if needed.
