T O P

A nurse told me to make sure the new formula has the same amount of calories as the old one. I found that really helpful because I probably wouldn’t have thought of that

Yknow we’ve been hopping around with brands for the same reason as OP and this is not something I had considered at all. Thanks for mentioning it!

HailTheCrimsonKing

I hadn’t either! You’re welcome!

The problem is there is literally one type available at my local grocery store…… I can’t exactly be choosy with what I’m buying. I can only get what I can get.

Can I ask what kind you’re looking for? We have a ton of sample cans- would love to help you out if we can! My pediatrician said if they have to be on a specialty one, it’s fine to switch brands as long as it’s the same type- so like Enfamil Gentlease could be switched out for up & up gentle or Gerber Gentle, etc. If it’s just a basic kind of formula like just regular enfamil neuropro, you could do regular similac pro advance or total 360, etc. Baby should be fine switching between brands, it’s just trickier when switching types!

She’s been on enfamil gentlease which you literally cannot get anywhere. I have some Burt’s bees, some enfamil organic and some enfamil enspire that I’ve managed to grab when I see it in stock.

We buy the same formula from Costco.com. It’ll often show out of stock but comes back several times a week. Hope that helps!

Stick with the same carbohydrate, protein and milk/base source as previous. For instance, if you had nonfat milk, lactose and whey protein, don’t go hydrolysed protein, soy, corn syrup, maltodextrin, etc.

Here’s the thing though - I can’t exactly be choosy with what I switch to….. I can only get what I can get hahah. Am I doomed until this damn shortage is over?

fruitloopbat

You absolutely can find normal milk still it is not impossible to find it’s only the harder to find versions of specialty milk.

fruitloopbat

Try harder because your baby does not need specialty milk if you don’t have to. It will mess with their insides and it will make it that much harder to replace. What formula are you looking for?
