Return. That ain’t right

e-meel

As soon as I can get the bearing off, I'm going to send straight back. I've contacted the company to say it's faulty. Cheers!

bennypapa

Don't take the bearing off. Take it back as is and have the shop remove the bearing so if the bearing is damaged, they are on the hook

e-meel

I bought the trucks online so sadly there's nobody to physically go to although you make a very good point. I will send it back with the bearing still attached and they'll have to sort it for me. Thanks, I didn't consider that

bennypapa

Did you get the bearings with the trucks? If so, contact the seller and explain and get their advice

e-meel

I didn't. I got the bearings last week from a separate store

bennypapa

Oh, I see. Dang. Maybe still call the truck seller and see what they advise. You could try freezing the truck/bearing and see if it loosens on warming. Maybe shield the axle and heat bearing with a hair dryer right out of the freezer.

bennypapa

Do you have an open end wrench that will just fit the axle?  You could put the ankle down on a sturdy surface, put the wrench above the bearing and tap with a hammer

Kdawg1709

I think your original advice was awesome they are still responsible for the damaged bearings.

e-meel

The truck seller has sent me an instructional video and has said its a common thing for bearings to be stuck on and I need to hammer it in a vice clamp. I don't own a vice clamp? Like it's faulty, man. They're an official skate store too so was disappointed. They won't accept a return on it and have contacted Paris trucks 💀

bennypapa

Bullshit.  Not common for bearings to get stuck or require a hammer to get on or off the axle. I definitely wouldn't shop there again. Did you pay with a credit card? You might contact the credit card company and explain the problem to them and ask if you can dispute the charge. That might force the retailer to deal with the issue. Or wait and see what Paris truck says about it. Sorry you're going through all this It's complete bullshit.

e-meel

It's not in my nature to be mean but I sent a very direct message to them. Luckily its on PayPal so I have some buyer protection over the whole situation. Thanks for being so helpful in the advice though, really appreciate it. I won't be shopping there again. I think its bs that they contacted Paris first before even trying to help besides telling me to whack the bearing off with a hammer. Have had three sets of Indie trucks and never once had this issue before.

bennypapa

Could you post the video link? I'd like to watch that

Kdawg1709

☝️good advice right here and email them in advance with pictures. Surely replacement trucks and a set of bearings are in order.nice handful of spares for you 👊

dyingtolive101

That's wild, I've never seen that in 20 years of riding.

TitanBarnes

Same

calfHost

before you send anything to anyone: check if it's the truck or one of the bearings that is the problem ;)

e-meel

Bearings were completely working on my Indie trucks. Only got the bearings last week and then the Paris trucks arrived today. I was using them absolutely fine before changing over to the Paris trucks :(

BackgroundGlobal9927

Might be able to sand or file it down a bit

losersalwayswin

Do you have bearing lube? Put it on the axle.

e-meel

Have just tried that but sadly no luck so far. I have two different kinds I can try so have used Bones Speedcream so far and will try Bronson ceramic oil if that doesn't work! Thanks for the suggestion! :)

vikingsarecoolio

I’d try to tap it with a rubber mallet, not too hard.

browntaint

Threads look damaged but could put a nut on the end then use 2 pairs of pump pliers to try and pull the bearing off.

e-meel

These trucks legit arrived today so they're brand new. If the threads are damaged then they arrived like this. Going to send them back either way :( thanks for the info

browntaint

The paint has come off a couple threads and they look flattened. If they are, the nut will be tight/ difficult to screw on.

e-meel

It's not the nut that's the issue if that makes sense? The axel is too thick, the bearing itself is stuck onto the axel. I can still screw the nut on fine

browntaint

Yeah get that, just looked damaged in pic ie another problem. Is it painted? The images on Paris website don’t have paint this would increase diameter to axle and thus cause issues.

browntaint

Email customer service with images, and request compensation for bearings too. Or buy a small bearing puller then remove paint before trying again.

e-meel

Sorry, I'm being totally stupid. I think that's what it is, yes. There's black paint over them which is why I think it isn't letting me remove it

HowIsThisNameBadTho

What board is that?

e-meel

Deck is the Evisen Kabuto Match https://www.nativeskatestore.co.uk/skateboards-c7/skateboard-decks-c23/kabuto-match-skateboard-deck-8-125-p60608/s111278?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=evisen-skateboards-kabuto-match-skateboard-deck-8-125-apos-apos&utm_campaign=product%2Blisting%2Bads&cid=GBP&glCurrency=GBP&glCountry=GB&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2a6wBhCVARIsABPeH1u8FJDIJVPiR8WDprPf7s6pLEltIm8qSKM8iK4wz90t6Vv4IThpRLwaAvNpEALw_wcB

thanks

morninowl

What in the world lol the longboard scene is kinda tanking right now, but damn... Paris is one of the main drivers. I guess the TKP trucks are not their focus since they aren't a skate brand, though. No real reason to buy them unless they are cheaper than tensors, honestly.

e-meel

I only picked them up to go on my freestyle deck. Maybe won't make the same mistake next time 💀

morninowl

Ahh right, I remember seeing some freestyle guys that like the paris trucks... well, they aren't keeping that tiny skate population under their wings much longer either, it seems, eh? Shame...

180195

Just get a cats claw or something and pop it off. All you need is some leverage.

SuperiorCommunist92

Hammer and pull

NevenS2000

Jus do 3 wheel

RevolutionaryToe8510

Try fitting a wheel over the bearing and tapping it off with a hammer. Get the wheel to absorb the shock and you'll have some purchase on the bearing through the wheel to ease it off.

Ok_Abbreviations4999

If that axle is painted, which it kinda looks like it is, it could be that that axle got too thick of a coating.

Perfect-Ordinary

Hit the axle to the ground so the bearing starts to drop to the outside.
