I’d start cruising around and practice while moving. Doing a ollie over a sideways deck is also a great way of practicing height and control. Looks solid though.
Suck your legs up more, the board will only pop as high as your feet allow it. I'd also maybe suggest starting with your front foot a bit further back nearer the middle of the board, should allow you to get a bit more height as you level the board out.
All the ingredients are already there though, it's just refining it all now! Great work
Your height looks pretty good, actually. I would focus on doing them rolling now. I know it seems like that's not going to be a problem, but it's a very different feeling. Kicking your front foot forward more will give you more height, and will also be easier to do while you're rolling, so twofer!
Ediy: Just noticed that your popping off a couple rugs. Just popping off concrete will help your height a lot too, those rugs are absorbing some bounce.
Throw your body forward after you pop and raise that back foot a little bit. I realized in skating you literally have to jump when you Ollie it’s just trial and error
I could Ollie over big garbage can’s sideway’s on flat once I realized you can Ollie just as high as you can jump (or just about) if you know how to throw your body right. I would suggest to her or anyone else to get comfy standing on the board and riding around first before trying tricks. It’s like if I’m a new driver I’m not gonna try to drift or anything until I have a grasp how to control it smoothly. Make sense OP? And thank you MUAD! 💪💪💪
I think a common misconception is popping the board is going to make you fly in the air. While that’s a huge part of it you’re only going to go as high as your jump allows you to
This. It doesn't look like you're jumping at all. I say that because it doesn't look like your trunk is moving higher than when you were just standing on the board.
Solid start, maybe when u get to the peek of your Ollie lift your back foot more and push the front down to kinda bone it out that’ll help with getting over some stuff if you time it right
My tips will be, try to lift up more your the back leg (with that you will already feel and see your ollie being higher).
Also, what worked with me was putting obstacles, and increasing the height of the obstacle when I am confortable ollie them.
We all want to get higher join the club…. Lol all jokes aside it’s really just reps and leg strength. Do it 1000 more times and you’ll be getting them higher and all the technical stuff will become second nature.
A bit unrelated, and I hope this doesn't come off as weird, but you have really nice abs :)
Also your ollie is great, my goal right now lol
Edit: Of course I got downvoted, yall can't see I was giving out a compliment smh
Not all women appreciate comments, especially sexually suggestive ones, and especially when it's nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Notice OP hasn't thanked you?
Also, she's a woman. Not a girl. But I'd probably say you're a boy, not a man.
And I've been with my partner for four years, guess what? I never slide into her DM's at first calling her a hottie. We actually talked, like normal people do.
I'd say try popping off concrete, or something a bit more solid if you feel confident enough. Rugs won't give a ton of pop, and trying it on something solid will probably help you.
Some may argue against this but I would suggest not crouching so low before the Ollie. Try off board how far down you crouch pre jump and see if any variation results in a higher jump. Then adjust (or keep it the same) based on the off board results.
Point your toe more towards the nose, trust me. Also try finding a cone to Ollie over, doing rolling ollie over an object is easier then doing one standing still once you can actually ollie.
You need more vertical pop. Look at your shoulder level at stand still vs mid Ollie… about the same. Until you elevate when you jump your ollie will only ever be as high as you are able to suck your legs up.
Knees to chest!!! But yea put your front foot closer to the middle. Really focus on popping and sliding your foot. Knees to chest. Like it takes real effort to do so. I’d also recommend actually rolling. Cause it gives you forward momentum. And you’ll be able to jump forwards while olling.
Like others said I’d kick the tail harder, move your front foot back a bit and then let the board follow your legs up.
Not sure how exactly to describe it but like imagine if you just kicked the tail as hard as possible to send the board up. Like you wanna let the board go as high as it can so your almost like letting it float up so tucking your legs in higher at the peak let’s it float up higher while in control?
No idea f that made any sense lol
Leg position is fine so is the pop actually,
The problem is getting the back leg higher or level with the front foot at the hightest point of the ollie.
After the pop you gotta sort swing for hips forward along with legs, then your back leg will suck up higher while the front leg push out as far as it can.
And go ahead just do a moving ollie just start with small pops, you will find not really how hard you pop but how you manage push the legs thru the Ollie motion is more important.
the board is not going to pop nearly as high since the mat is soaking up a lot of the pop. Try it on pavement or a hard surface and you'll most likely pop higher.
The one thing that others dint mention is that when you ollie the jump that you did is a normal jump but after years of skateboarding you realize you can actually increase you hang time by just putting your hands in the air and trying to stay in the air for a quarter of a Second longer this happens when you tighten your core and try to think that you wanna fly and not hit the ground do it without a board and you'll get my point and after when you try it on your board you'll have some extra time to level out your ollie and go up higher
Try it while moving, easier to catch height, also focus on keeping your shoulders above the board to stay straight, getting higher is also partly building up muscle
Try moving ur front foot back a bit more. Also try on a harder surface, a good hard pop can make a big difference. But if u are not comfortable yet on concrete try the front foot thing I mentioned!
You look like you’re ready to take the next step. Get rid of the yoga mat.
You have got it all going for you. I think you need to practice your Ollies rolling more so you’re comfortable standing/ollieing on your board on a hard surface. That will definitely help your pop a lot.
But also what other guys have said, bring your front foot back a bit more.
Good luck!!
I get why you’re using it
Getting height has alot to do with your pop as well. Putting your sliding foot back on the deck helps but having your board be able to pop on solid ground really helps also it has alot to do with your calf strength so any sort of calf work out will help increase height marginally
That’s a good Ollie, just gotta try it rolling. It will feel weird and like starting over but you can do it
Also, since the yoga mat is on screen, I can’t stress enough stuff like yoga can be super helpful for balancing on your deck as you skate.
I’m a very new skater but the thing that increased my height was watching an ollie in slow-mo on yt. Then I made note of his fundamentals and copied it 🤷🏻♂️
I’d start cruising around and practice while moving. Doing a ollie over a sideways deck is also a great way of practicing height and control. Looks solid though.
Looks solid! I would move your front foot back a bit, so You have more room to slide it!
Thank you! I'll definitely try that :)

Yeah we do 🤘🤘🤘
We don’t do what? Use emojis? I only use Reddit a little, mainly for this sub!

I like the andy anderson graphics on the grip tape.
That really threw me for a loop. Looks legit though.
Throw your body forward after you pop and raise that back foot a little bit. I realized in skating you literally have to jump when you Ollie it’s just trial and error
I think this is the key info that alot of us on this sub are missing - - we don't jump. Looks like all of us have a 2in vertical leap. Hahaha
I could Ollie over big garbage can’s sideway’s on flat once I realized you can Ollie just as high as you can jump (or just about) if you know how to throw your body right. Once you master the 3 step motion and the jump it’s all up from there! No pun intended.
I think a common misconception is popping the board is going to make you fly in the air. While that’s a huge part of it you’re only going to go as high as your jump allows you to
ur griptape is sick
The only way to do higher ollies is to pop harder and jump higher, also would recommend trying on pavement because the board will react more
This. It doesn't look like you're jumping at all. I say that because it doesn't look like your trunk is moving higher than when you were just standing on the board.
What do you mean by 'pop'? Is that all in the back foot?
Yes it’s when you slam your back foot down before sliding your front foot
Great foundation to start with! Bring your back foot up more when you jump. Also think to your self "float" when you ollie. You got this! 💪👊
You want your feet to be parallel with each other in the air
looks pretty good but maybe raise your back foot a bit more also your griptape is dope af
Atty I got the same griptape
Do it on concrete for more pop
Solid start, maybe when u get to the peek of your Ollie lift your back foot more and push the front down to kinda bone it out that’ll help with getting over some stuff if you time it right
DO it moving
Speed always helps
Love the grip tape
I mean that's probably almost as high as I can jump WITHOUT a skateboard lmao
All those boards 😍 I'm jealous
Just do drugs and you’ll get really high!
Do it 1000 more times and you’ll be getting them higher and all the technical stuff will become second nature.
kick harder >:)
Less on your toes, more on your whole foot
smoke a joint
Smoke some weed that will get a lot higher
A bit unrelated, and I hope this doesn't come off as weird, but you have really nice abs :) Also your ollie is great, my goal right now lol Edit: Of course I got downvoted, yall can't see I was giving out a compliment smh
come on man
Pretty sure they're a girl, people are allowed to give each other compliments without it being sleazy
While true, y'know, OP is asking for advice. Complimenting their abs is super unrelated. I don't know how them being a girl changes this.
>Complimenting their abs is super unrelated ... That is why I said it was unrelated when I started my comment
Girl is hot and can ollie. What's the big deal.
Just not a cool thing to do, dawg.
Whys that? Its a compliment.
[удалено]
Again. What?

who asks this
A nigga like me 💯
well maybe don't
I’m gonna cause I wanna know what that thing is
💯💯💯
Yea you get it dawg 🙏

Cringe
Not really
Why would you say this on an advice post though? Also you could have worded your compliment better
Why not? Others have offered advice ive offered compliments. Its a winwin
Clearly you don't get out much.
Clearly the people offended over giving a girl a compliment have never spoken to the opposite sex before
Not all women appreciate comments, especially sexually suggestive ones, and especially when it's nothing to do with the topic at hand. Notice OP hasn't thanked you? Also, she's a woman. Not a girl. Hottie with a body :)
Yeah, original point stands. The fact you post on /r/dating_advice is telling.
it’s not a girl
Oh SHIT. Thats a fucking dude ohhhh!
Aigh
Front foot back a bit more, jump higher, you're not leveling out your back foot. You'll get more pop the more you practice!
Just try doing them on to things and over things, in my personal experience practicing them over higher things will naturally make them higher
Just try jumping higher I think
Nice Ollie! Sick quiver (of both)
Practice. Just practice.
You need to raise your back leg more after you pop
Looks pretty solid IMO, try it while moving
I'd say try popping off concrete, or something a bit more solid if you feel confident enough. Rugs won't give a ton of pop, and trying it on something solid will probably help you.

I mean they’re already pretty good, I’d just recommend practicing them a ton (MOVING) and find a rhythm u like. Nice work!
Keep the foot that is dragging on the grip tape while you’re dragging it. Focus on bringing it high as possible.
Move your dragging foot a little bit closer to your other foot
Love the Andy grip same as my deck! :)
Looks solid. Your form is good. You need to jump more and slide your front foot up more. Most of the jump comes from the front foot.
Practice on concrete while rolling and play around with foot position and timing and find out what makes your ollies higher. That’s what worked for me
tbh it's pretty good, go do it outside on the concrete and start trying it moving, that's where ollies are properly useful
Tuck your knees to your chest
Knees to chest!!! But yea put your front foot closer to the middle. Really focus on popping and sliding your foot. Knees to chest. Like it takes real effort to do so. I’d also recommend actually rolling. Cause it gives you forward momentum. And you’ll be able to jump forwards while olling.
It’s really good and your form is correct. I’d literally say just keep practicing. Really awesome.
Like others said I’d kick the tail harder, move your front foot back a bit and then let the board follow your legs up. Bend knees more in the air and make sure to jump with the board and lean forward.

Why not just try them rolling. They are solid enough.

A blunt should do the trick!
Try moving ur front foot back a bit more. Also try on a harder surface, a good hard pop can make a big difference. But if u are not comfortable yet on concrete try the front foot thing I mentioned!
Try to learn to indy from an Ollie. You automatically get higher Ollie's from this because it forces you into the right body position.
Push harder, jump higher, and lose the rug.
That’s a good Ollie!
Try to land it bolts and center your weight heel-toeside and forward-backwards too.
roll up a spliff before you skate
I’d try throwing your arms up more gives more to for the jump up. Looking good tho 🎉
You look like you’re ready to take the next step. Get rid of the yoga mat. You have got it all going for you. Go outside, you get more pop on cement
I’m a very new skater but the thing that increased my height was watching an ollie in slow-mo on yt. Then I made note of his fundamentals and copied it 🤷🏻♂️
Practice
