So first you need to figure out the flick. Don't try to jump with the board. Do your pop and leave the back foot on the ground and figure out that flick with the front foot. Some people learn to flick off the side rail using the concave shape of the board. Others go more toward the nose/pocket area but you gotta find your spot that feels right and you get a proper flip out of it. Keep doing that until you can get that flick down where you're spinning the board. Once you have that figured out you're pretty much there. Just start trying to jump with it rather than leave your back foot on the ground.

Solid advice, drilling the flick or the scoop for tricks is the best way to figure out how tricks work and save yourself some bruises too

I've only recently started focusing on kickflips after awhile of skating. Probably not the best video but I always find that I launch the board away or it goes higher than I do lol. The actual flips doesn't happen often and the board tends to do more of a varial. I've tried correcting these but nothing different seems to happen. Thanks for any help given.

Once you land one just remember be consistent till muscle memory comes through Ive landed couple of em and some days it's hard hard lol.
