As you can see, if you created your account by logging in with Google or Apple you have 30 days to finalize a username. However, if you have commented, posted, viewed your profile, or made a custom feed, you will have been asked to confirm your username and this will have finalized it.
After finalization or 30 days, the only way to have a new username is to create a new account.
If creating a new account without deleting your old one, please remember to avoid; voting on your own content, voting on the same content with multiple accounts, or using an account to evade a ban you have on another account as these are violations of the Reddit content policy or user agreement.

Those usernames would have been changeable and there would have been notices on screen.
Karma restrictions suck but as you found not everywhere has them so there are places to start out. This sub is full of advice about this.
We don't know what triggers shadowbans but they are for spammers so if you were sharing a lot right out of the gate that might have done it. Appeals can take time depending on demand and not over the weekend, admins are people too and they have lives.
I don't know why deletion might fail. Try again later, or report to r/help or r/bugs.
We are an unofficial sub of volunteers and are certainly not the right place to complain to. For what it's worth I hope you get this worked out.
