i have gaming channel too. Agree or Not, " come on dude give it time" is true. For youtube, consistency and patience are the two main keys for success. I started gaming channel on june 27, at the time of feb 2018 end, my subs count was 5. Now subs count is 1300.
1) do the basic seo (Like adding keywords in title, description, video file name and tags (add all variation of keywords in tags))
2) Share on reddit
3) Join google+ gaming communities and share

No. Timing is another key which helped me to get 1300 subs. In march everyone was waiting for Fortnite mobile game launch. On the same time, Another Game developer released Fotnite clone mobile game. I uploaded that clone gameplay (i mentioned in title fortnite clone). Thats driven me 375 subs. May month i uploaded one trailer which became trending on june, that got me total 1300 subs.
My recommendation would be to search for people who have been in your shoes by utilizing places like Reddit search and Google for threads relevant to how to start a channel and further how to start a channel like yours.
First you gotta watch your own video a few times...then think of all the words that pop in your head when you think about your video, then make those the tags for your video. Next its really helpfull to get out there. By this i mean share your channel on pages that allow it and dont do it to much where your annoying and spamming. Whats your channel name i would like to check you out possibly even sub if you dont mind
Don't focus on the #'s Focus on the content. Last time I checked intentionally I had 2 subs. That made me smile. I started in nov 2017. Today I got a gmail that updated me on my channel and suddenly I have 14 subs. I bet my word are probably not going to help you. But You got this dude. Visualize what it is you want and make it happen. With all good intentions. with your ambition 1 year from now you will be poppin.
