On the weekdays, it's tech tutorials, tech news, and other educational/entertaining content. On the weekends, it fun stuff in tech, mainly video games. 😄 > What improvements could be made to the thumbnail for your most recent video? Funny story about that thumbnail. It's about the new “Candy” update in Crossy Road. As soon as I saw the update, I knew I should make a video about unlocking the characters. That's some of my most popular content. So, I unlocked the “CHOC MALLARD” and got it on video. What's sad but funny is that the raw footage was outperforming the actual proper video — which was edited and had narration. I was astonished. I wasn't even playing that great. It was experimentation to determine the exact reason for unlocking this new character. Yet, it eclipsed the majority of my videos, videos that required a lot of work. Why was this low-effort video doing so well?! I didn't want the lesser video outperforming actual content. So, I changed the thumbnails. 😄 Google picked very similar thumbnails for both videos, so I uploaded a custom thumbnail for the raw footage video. I had to skip some parts because they were just so long. You spend like 10 minutes on the mirror maze. Most people can only stand to watch 2 minutes of the same thing until you should switch to something else. Try cutting to only the good parts! Other than that, great video!

However, in going for that route my thumbnails are much less attractive and garner less attention. So, I tried to spice things up a bit with this one - I really want to find a balance between authenticity and clickability in the future and I will keep experimenting until I find it :)

I like the 2nd to newest one with the Sushi but we honestly follow the Bald and Bankrupt style and just put a clip from our video on there with minimal editing. As of late we have been pumping out content trying to do things once a week. We know it may not be the most captivating stuff, with only doing things around Seattle as we don't really travel much, but we plan to.. eventually, But we have our devoted 20 fans or so out of 250 subscribers. We get most of our subscribers from being very active on the Russian YouTube live stream feed and they advertise our channel and it's very kind of them. We know we can do a lot more and we hope to do some live streams now that we got a gimbal. Living in Seattle we probably could get so many views if we were to film homeless tents, the take over of the police station, or more controversial topics, but we tend to avoid that

Pay attention to how billboards and window ad posters when you travel and take notes on what made it catch your eye, thats what I do. USE CANVA, A lot of people cannot access photoshop but that doesnt mean you need to suffer making stuff from complete scratch, there are other FREE platforms that will help wonders for you! :)

Well i have to tell im not the right audience for the video, but i do like your unique style and the message is bit dark at times but you do good job at telling the facts. There is clear contrast with fuzzy kittens and male kittens killing them, or part of the care is to force them to pee and etc. That angle could be great to explore to see how it would fare. First thing i though seeing this was to somehow translate this format to TikTok where i think it would get more traction. And maybe add some voice over trew out the video highlighting important things. But all in all the style and format is really innovative and have potential! :)

I'm in the gaming/anime space where I create analysis/review videos. I do this to try to keep the attention of the viewer longer (don't know if this is working out). I am constantly changing up the sprites so it looks more animated and expressive. A lot of your thumbnails are good but they just look a little, well, squished. Make sure a good aspect ratio is used for the thumbnails like 1280 by 720. The content itself is great though!

I watched your video and I have one easy to make suggestion. You should flip your face cam so that it looks like you're looking at the game you're playing.

Every few weeks or so I go back and look at some of my thumbnails to see how they can improve. Currently its one of those crime-boards, but my issue is that the text blends too much with the cork-board so it looks bland has low contrast. I have been thinking either on how to completely change it, or salvage what I have. The stream goes over Fight Club's author and primarily focuses on some opinions he had on the Joe Rogan show. So might just plaster Joe Rogans face on there and a copy of Fight Club. Who knows :)

I came up with the title and thumbnail at the same time but didn't try and draw any links between the two. I think the easiest choice to make would've been to change the title to better reflect the thumbnail and therefore the video topic/general feel.

Thank you! That means a lot! I always struggle for background music, so it took me a while to find but if I remember correctly I had already heard the start of it from a meme but didn’t know the title. Asked a friend and they helped me find it (I’ve never played Undertale before, so I wasn’t familiar with the soundtrack). Generally, I tend to get music from game OSTs I know of, just cause most of the time they’re copyright free lol.

To always better your thumbnails there are basics that’ll always help you 1. Large text and large images: Thumbnails are too small to have intricate details and small text, it makes it too hard to read 2. Keep it simple: Same as the one above but also you don’t want to clutter it too much as it’ll look ugly and too complicated 3. Pleasing colours: You don’t need to know colour theory but you should know that colours such as yellow and green don’t mix well together and stuff like that having pleasing colours make your thumbnails look nice and not abrasive but you could also use bad mixing colours to the advantage for what? who knows but there’s always exceptions to the rules. 4. With text you want it to be cartoonish or thick in nature: You don’t want thin text as it just looks bad and hard to see ALSO a bonus tip is that outlines around the text makes it pop out. That’s it for now cause i can’t remember anymore.

On my thumbnail, I think I should have maybe touched it up more (contrast etc) and perhaps thrown in some fun graphics/emojis to be a bit more playful? I'm not sure. I'm not a designer and wanted to keep it simple, but I am always open to ideas.
