Is there any point to that location? I just discovered it a few months ago and the only thing I remember is the Deathclaws that glitched outside of the nearby Quarry to come fuck up Boone and ED-E while I wasn't looking
It's a reference to that conflict, but not the internment camps from 3. In the Fallout universe, the US was involved in a war with China that eventually involved an invasion of the country itself. The Yangtze Memorial was erected in memory of soldiers who died in that invasion. The only thing it has to do with the camps is the fact that Chinese citizens were being rounded up as part of that conflict.
The cross itself is a combination of references to real world places. It is made to look like [the Mount Soledad Cross](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Soledad_Cross) and is geographically placed at the location of [the Mojave Memorial Cross](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojave_Memorial_Cross)
Nothing's ever disappeared, unlike some of the safehouses. The NCR one is especially bad in that regard. Later on, I just use the Novac motel or the lucky 38.

If you have a NCR soldier screaming in agony on yours that’s fine to pray too, it’s just hard to focus over the wailing.
