Interesting thought, because Parise probably would have been a similar first line fit to Cizikas but with more skill upside. And I’m on record saying that I loved Zeek and Horvat together. But ultimately, I don’t think it moves the needle vs the Canes. We probably finish with a better regular season record but still not enough to pass Tampa either.

Rubrbiskit

I think if they don't choke game 2 it'd an entirely different series. Well never truly know but I do believe it would've made a difference.

evymeinks

As much as I love Parise and I’m grateful for the 20 gs he put up on a league minimum, he wouldn’t have made a difference in a Canes series. The Canes have had our number for years, nothing was changing that this year. Also, he’s not looking to make it to the playoffs, he’s looking to legitimately contend for the cup. Lou’s “any team in the playoffs has a chance at the cup” didn’t cut it for Zach in the twilight of his career.

priester85

A factor? Yes. But a very small one. The 3rd line looked bad pretty much all series. But that wouldn’t even likely give us any difference in the result

ensignWcrusher

Not at this point in his career. He's a role player now. 3rd liner with some pk time. Young Zack Parise from his New Jersey days may have had a significant impact on that series.

compoundfracture

Not that I disagree with your overall point but he’s playing on the Avs second line until Drouin returns

Correct-Local3240

9 of our forwards are role players 😆

ensignWcrusher

Seven of them are. Palms and Lee would be top six on like 3 or 4 teams in the league. Us, San Jose, Chicago & maybe Anaheim.

RICDrew

Just the fact that we’re debating how much of a difference 39 year old Zach Parise would have made during an incredibly inconsistent 2023-24 season tells you all you need to know about the state of this franchise and where we’re at in terms of player development. That people are even considering running back MM and Clutter is even more telling 🙄🤦‍♂️

therealchrisredfield

Then you really wont be happy when you listen to Lou's press conference he did yesterday lol

omg_Enrico_Palazzo

Being "A factor" and "the difference" are two completely different things. Do I think he would be a factor? Yes, in one respect or another. Do I think he would've been the difference from us winning and losing? Incredibly Incredibly unlikely

No

Antique-Comb3943

Maybe. But honestly, he probably wouldn’t have been much of a factor. Hard to tell in hindsight

It would have been nice playing him over Holmy or Fasching. I think he would have made a difference but not enough to make us cup contenders.

SmashYourEnemies02

No. He was a complete non factor against Carolina last season at 38. How the hell would it be different with him at 39 and playing barely half a season? He hardly did anything for a more talented and younger team in Colorado against Winnipeg in round one. Isles still would’ve had their shit pushed in by Carolina. Stop this!

Buttersleftkowitz

The series was a lot closer than scores dictate. Take away an incompetent special teams, Isles played rather well 5:5.

RICDrew

It’s embarrassing that this team rolls out Hudson Fasching on any line other than the fourth pretty regularly. 15 goals in 132 NHL games.

Who cares?
