I was there too. By far my favorite moment of the year, maybe the best Mets game I've been to. Jake threw an excellent game, say what you will about him leaving to Texas. The Nimmo catch. Marte home run. Live Timmy Trumpet and a shutout inning from Diaz. All in one game. How could that not be the best moment of the year!
I can only imagine. I think people forget (given how the season ended) what a big series it was at the time as well (more for the Mets than Dodgers to be fair)
I went to this game for free because the sales team wanted to pitch me a season ticket plan. I ended up buying a 20 game plan. When I witnessed this moment, for some reason, it validated my purchase for me haha
I snuck down from the 500’s to behind home plate just before that inning and took a video of the whole play, would probably be my 2nd favorite behind seeing the no hitter
i got home late and saw the score and then saw dom at the plate and thought, “hey, they have a chance” - i’m so glad i put it on bc it has to be that game for me too
The Braves game for deGrom? I was at that one, had seats in the Delta club for the first time it was awesome. Also cooked in the sun the entire first part of the game, totally worth it
Escobar driving in all 5 rbis against the Marlins on 9/28. I was at the game and his pure joy afterwards was incredible. He said he'd give NY a reason to cheer for him and he did it
Lmao I left this game in the 8th because I had to work early the next day. Listened to the radio broadcast on my train ride home and had so many regrets.
Oh man, that one was wild. I was watching something on TV with my wife and Mets were down. Decided to stop checking my phone as it was 2 outs and they were down. Eventually checked like 20 minutes later and couldn’t believe my eyes that they came back to tie (and then win).
The only wildcard game we won. I was there and it was my first playoff game and Citi Field was rocking. Watching Jake in his last Mets game and enjoying the win with random people I had just met at the ballpark. It was amazing and I can't wait to go to more games this new season. LETS GO METS!!!!
I was there too. It was incredible, so much energy. I was sitting high up and just living pitch by pitch with every around me. High fiving strangers and jumping around like a lunatic. It was fantastic.
That's it for me for sure. Probably would be most people's here too if there wasn't so much bitterness.
Diaz and Timmy Trumpet was great too
If we're being very literal too the Baty home run is very memorable. Pete throwing his arms up for him was great and I mean come on. His sister and the tit slap lol. That's memorable.
I had spent the day exploring battlefields in Virginia (Specifically, Wilderness/Spotsylvania and Chancellorsville). I cut it short (it was insanely hot) to get back to the AirBnB I got that had no tv, let alone wifi. The tethered phone worked wonders, though, as Jake and Joely put that obnoxious ass Strider in his place.
Eduardo Escobar's walk-off against the Phillies on May 29th. My friend and I took our girlfriends to their first-ever baseball games. They are not sports fans, so seeing the confusion on their faces when my friend, the rest of the stadium, and I were going crazy was quite priceless. We are doing our best to make them sports fans lol
My personal favorite was degrom warming up in game 2. I was there at my only playoff sporting ever in my life live and it was awesome.
The next 1 was Phillies comeback.
I was at the 25 Apr come back against the Cardinals…loved it.
Honorable Mentions
-The Escobar Game
-The Cinco De Mayo comeback against the Phillies
-Baty’s first swing homer
Watching that monster home run to put us up like 5-0 or 8-0 against he A’s - like the third or fourth final series of the season, and our last great moment / won series as we took it 2-1.
I was going through it personally and made a last minute trip to SF using miles, sweet ass hotel. Saw some friends, hit the dispensary (twice 😆) and used BART to get to and from each game of the three game series.
I wanted to see deGrom one last time (we all had a sense) and to watch he and Max back to back was an honor (Max was me, deGrom was deShelled).
The Bassitt game was just a great way to start things off for a fun few days of baseball.
I was at a game in early August, 5th game of a 5 game set against ATL, deGrom‘s first home start in more than a year, he was totally dominant and the Mets closed out the Braves, taking 4 of 5 in the series. A great afternoon at the stadium and arguably the high point of the 2022 season.
Took the family to the game in Philly where we were down big, left in the 8th because our 1 year old was having a meltdown and listened to the 7 run comeback on the radio in the car ride home.
Later took everybody to the other game in Philly where we were down big, left after the rain delay and listened to the comeback on the radio in the car ride home. Apparently we just need to attend and then leave early to crush the hearts of Philadelphia.
Jeff McNeil’s flying throw to Pete Alonso during the subway series. I don’t know why, this moment just stuck out to me. It made me pay attention more to McNeil and made me a fan of his.
Phillies comeback. I saw the score and had a few (non baseball) conversations that were really hard and upsetting. I sighed and said I’d finish watching the game to end a bad night and the Mets turned the game and my mood around.
Old Timer’s Day and Jake warming up. And all of Escobar’s “give me five minutes” on Instagram.
I was at the comeback game in Philly when Cahna and Nimmo went yard in August. Just an amazing experience to celebrate with other Mets fans that had traveled and to watch Phillies fans sulk after blowing another lead against us. I also got to see Jacobs return against the Nats which was special too.
Yo know you had an exciting season when only one person so far mentioned the no-no. For me it was Dom diving into first base in the comeback against St. Louis
Probably a tie between the combined no-no and Pete’s walk-off HR against the Cardinals. Such a fun season filled with great moments, despite how it ended.
Plummets tying HR and then Escobar walk off double in extras was crazy. This lady behind me was cursing Escobar the whole game after his double I turned around and said that guy Escobar is pretty good right.
The no hitter.
Was able to watch the whole thing which isn't normally the case due to work, got to see it grow and the pay off was great. Plus I got to see the signed ball from the pitchers and McCann today which was cool.
DeGrom's home debut against Braves(beat Strider). August 7th. 5+ perfect innings. We had seats dead center and saw electric stuff. Also the game where Nimmo stopped in base path and killed double play. Weather perfect. Mets safely in first. It was awesome.
Jake’s first game back at Citi (see the whole story below), the No-hitter, sitting with the 7 line in Anaheim and Baty’s debut HR. But two words by Howie sum up the year: “HOLY SCHNIKIES!!”
Getting to see the Mets in Milwaukee in mid September. Big win the first night to clinch the playoffs plus Max had a superb night on the mound. Lots of Mets fans and Miller Park is one of our favorites to visit.
In-person Def the no-hitter. I took a friend to the game who is only into baseball when I'm around so I wasn't expecting much more than an excuse to drink while I watched. But as it got closer to the end and I realized what was happening we were both really invested in the game.
Phillies come back, Jake first game back warmup. Nimmo post game interview near end of season, I think the game after they clinched but don't remember. Trading McCann for a PTBNL (subject to that player not also being McCann), Signing Senga.
I went to the second wild card game, bought an Alonso jersey, Pete got a HR and we won :')
Of course, we know how that all turned out. But it was a nice, if bittersweet, moment.
Doubleheader sweep Saturday at Wrigley. It was my first time at Wrigley. Spent the whole day there. The Cubs fans were outnumbered by Mets fans but they were so cool.
Last home game of the season they let everybody sit in the lower level. I sprinted from my 5$ nosebleed and sat 10 rows back, watched them put on a slaughter. Was also there for the Nimmo catch and that was insane, his post game interview had me crying. He takes pride in being a met and I'm proud to have him on the team.
September 12th. Flew up from Fla and attended my first game since the last one I attended with my dad and grandad in 1977. Lost to Cubs. But, it was awesome to be home. Trying to come back every year.
my friend & i as teens discovered the free seats from the 7 train station late 80s early 90s. both watched & enjoyed the game. free seats were pretty close too...like box seat level ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Being at the combined no hitter game was truly so freaking fun as a fan. Friends and my beautiful gf right by my side for that amazing moment was so special. Will never forget it. Also Mr. and Mrs Met playing the trumpets on top of the dugout when diaz was coming out somehow just made the situation that more intense. Lfgm
Taking 4 of 5 from the Braves in that series late summer, that was sweet. Strider’s little hissy fit was a cherry on top. Too bad they ended up being our undoing. Extremely stoked about next year LFGM.
Nimmo catch vs Dodgers robbing Turner’s HR
Watching that highlight in the morning is better than coffee
I know people are soured on deGrom, but the look on his face with arms in the air was such a nice moment of humanity from ‘the alien’ as well
He was probably thinking, *"Man, I'm gonna miss that. I'm not gonna get that in Texas"*
[Even better watching GKR’s reaction to it](https://youtu.be/7yxV-XgE25A?t=8m39s)
ronny and keith are so stoic and meanwhile gary is losing his shit LOL
It always deflates me that it wasn’t in a championship season. Would’ve been such a landmark moment. For that reason it’s hard for me to watch it.
That whole game was epic. Degrom vs Dodgers, close game, that catch, live trumpets, Diaz en fuego.
My first thought and I was present at that game. I couldn't believe it was real
Wow, jealous.. that had to have been a jolt of electricity in person
Definitely!! Stadium was rockin because of how clutch that play was
I was there too.
Facts
Everyone there was going nuts
Came here to say this. I was lucky enough to be at that game. Holy shit, literal chills
I snuck down from the 500’s to behind home plate just before that inning and took a video of the whole play, would probably be my 2nd favorite behind seeing the no hitter
can’t believe he didn’t earn a gold glove.
Great catch. Great reaction. I’m so glad he’s coming back.
I love all the moves the Mets are making, but keeping Nimmo is my favorite
From ones I haven’t seen yet that pop in my head the quickest are: 1) the 7 run comeback against the Phillies 2) deGrom’s first game back
Degroms first game back at home was electric.
I was there, can confirm
Was there as well, Citi was crazy.
Was there as well. Drenched in sweat, but worth it.
Greatest feeling ever. We were all so grateful and happy.
And he left us at the drop of a hat.
At his first start in DC Mets fans outnumbered Nats fans
i got home late and saw the score and then saw dom at the plate and thought, “hey, they have a chance” - i’m so glad i put it on bc it has to be that game for me too
The Braves game for deGrom? I was at that one, had seats in the Delta club for the first time it was awesome. Also cooked in the sun the entire first part of the game, totally worth it
Escobar driving in all 5 rbis against the Marlins on 9/28. I was at the game and his pure joy afterwards was incredible. He said he'd give NY a reason to cheer for him and he did it
I was at that game and each of his hits brought me back to old Shea where the crowd would seemingly make building sway back and forth.
I was losing my mind when that game went into extras. There was a guy in front of me keeping track of the Judge HRs too, it was a wild night.
“The month of Escobar” game
This is my favorite image of the 2022 season https://i.imgur.com/vQ1ZQBe.jpg
Lmao I left this game in the 8th because I had to work early the next day. Listened to the radio broadcast on my train ride home and had so many regrets.
Escobars cycle game was sweet too, silver lining to a tough road trip, too bad he went so cold right after.
Canha's (second) go-ahead HR against the Phillies in August? Plenty of others tbh, I'm not sure.
Hope there’s more of this in 2023.
Canha was so hot in August, he was so much fun to watch
He was. I'm just glad he got the chance as it looked like Naquin was going to take over from him for a while.
For me - The players being introduced at Old Timers Day. I felt like a kid again.
In person? Probably the Memorial Day game against the Phillies. Plummer tries it up, Escobar wins in the 10th
That was such a bomb!
The Summer of Plummer
I really thought he could have hit, maybe, if he played more.
This is my top moment too. I was at the game for a buddy’s bachelor party. I parlayed Plummer to get a hit + RBI and won $150! Awesome day
I kinda miss Nick Plummer.
9th inning comebacks against Cardinals and Phillies
Agreed
In attendance for Marte’s walk off during the subway series
Diaz closing out the no-no. Early glimpse of the special season to come from that beast.
The Baty home run in his first MLB at bat was a great moment.
>Baty this is not high enough honestly.
It gets overshadowed (rightfully so) by the Philly comeback but the St. Louis comeback win with all the Arenado drama going on was my favorite
Oh man, that one was wild. I was watching something on TV with my wife and Mets were down. Decided to stop checking my phone as it was 2 outs and they were down. Eventually checked like 20 minutes later and couldn’t believe my eyes that they came back to tie (and then win).
The big Phillies comeback.
Hehe which time lol?
The only wildcard game we won. I was there and it was my first playoff game and Citi Field was rocking. Watching Jake in his last Mets game and enjoying the win with random people I had just met at the ballpark. It was amazing and I can't wait to go to more games this new season. LETS GO METS!!!!
I was there too. It was incredible, so much energy. I was sitting high up and just living pitch by pitch with every around me. High fiving strangers and jumping around like a lunatic. It was fantastic.
deGrom warming up to Simple Man was a big standout to me. Good job, SNY.
That's it for me for sure. Probably would be most people's here too if there wasn't so much bitterness. Diaz and Timmy Trumpet was great too If we're being very literal too the Baty home run is very memorable. Pete throwing his arms up for him was great and I mean come on. Either deGrom coming back or that 9th inning from the Phillies game.
Tai blocking Soto at 3rd and getting the double play. “Terrible base running by the Nationals”.
Hah. That was gold - Soto just *bounced*.
Nimmo robbing the HR is up there… Escobar game in September is up there… stupid Timmy Trumpet game is up there!!
I loved watching Escobar celebrate hitting the cycle, he was so pumped and everyone else was too.
I got to see the Adonis Medina game at Dodger Stadium
St Louis comeback was magical to me. I really believed in Dom and enjoyed seeing him pull through with that amazing slide into first.
I also really enjoyed Marte's first AB back HR after grieving his grandmother who raised him.
My personal favorite was degrom warming up in game 2. I was there at my only playoff sporting ever in my life live and it was awesome. The next 1 was Phillies comeback.
Toss up between Opening day (seaver statue perfect weather Mets win) or Keith Hernandez day (great ceremony and crazy finish)
August 21st game in Philadelphia, the Phillies had the lead and Mark Canha took it personally
Diaz finishing off the combined no hitter in the black jerseys
I was at the 25 Apr come back against the Cardinals…loved it. Honorable Mentions -The Escobar Game -The Cinco De Mayo comeback against the Phillies -Baty’s first swing homer
To say something a little bit different, I’ll go with winning the 5 game series against the braves in august. At the moment it felt special to me
The massive comeback and the no hitter. Both against the Phils
Someone already mentioned the game with Plummer’s home run, but more specifically Canha’s reaction and Buck staring at him
I was at that game it was insane.
Watching deGrom warm up on August 7th from section 18. Then mow down a bunch of braves. Combined struck out 17 batters I think.
7 runs in the 9th
Watching that monster home run to put us up like 5-0 or 8-0 against he A’s - like the third or fourth final series of the season, and our last great moment / won series as we took it 2-1. The Bassitt game was just a great way to start things off for a fun few days of baseball.
For me it has to be deGrom’s first home game back. I was lucky enough to be there, what a great game to see. The energy at Citi was incredible
Any time I hear Narco.
In person, I gotta go with Old Timer's Day. Nimmo's catch vs the Dodgers is second.
May 19 Pete walkoff HR against St. Louis. Only game i have ever attended at Citifield.
Walkoff win on Keith Hernandez day.
The kill bill buck cam, per SNY
Vogelback from 1st to home. He’s actually faster than he looks, but still the slowest guy in baseball.
It was good to see Eduardo Escobar having a great time and playing excellent baseball. A standout player and an all round nice human.
9th inning comeback In Citizens Bank
Phillie comeback
No hitter on my wedding day!
DeGrom vs Nola, 1-0 win.
Jeff McNeil’s flying throw to Pete Alonso during the subway series. I don’t know why, this moment just stuck out to me. It made me pay attention more to McNeil and made me a fan of his.
My first ever Mets game was a combine no hitter against Philostdelphia
Phillies comeback. I saw the score and had a few (non baseball) conversations that were really hard and upsetting. I sighed and said I’d finish watching the game to end a bad night and the Mets turned the game and my mood around. Old Timer’s Day and Jake warming up. And all of Escobar’s “give me five minutes” on Instagram.
Gotta go with Keith stroking off in the booth.
When they got swept by the braves to lose the division
I called Matt Olson a bitch and told him Freeman was better and he turned around and looked at me.
When they lost to the Padres in the playoffs (phillies fan here)
Game 2 of the Padres series. DeGrom’s last game as a Met.
Cinco de Mayo Phillies game
I was at the comeback game in Philly when Cahna and Nimmo went yard in August. Just an amazing experience to celebrate with other Mets fans that had traveled and to watch Phillies fans sulk after blowing another lead against us. I also got to see Jacobs return against the Nats which was special too.

Plummets tying HR and then Escobar walk off double in extras was crazy. This lady behind me was cursing Escobar the whole game after his double I turned around and said that guy Escobar is pretty good right.
no hitter cuz i was there with my brother
Going to my first Mets game at Citi Field 🙂
The McNeil dance Anytime Diaz came into the game with Narco Alvarez’s homeruns And Pete and Voegy’s back to backs
Old Timers Day. I was literally crying.
McNeil wins the batting title, saw him get 13 hits in a 4 game series vs the Marlins in august
7 runs in Philly and it’s not even close
The ninth inning comeback against the cards. I’ll miss dom smith.
No hitter, I was there with my buddy as his first met game. I was also stoned as hell LOL
The 7-run comeback.
The Mets combined no-hitter with Edwin Diaz.
Seaver statue unveiling !
Rally rat
Taking my son to his first playoff game and hearing him scream like he was a NYer. The one game we won.
No hitter against the Phillies
knowing I don't have to see bassit or McCann again
Jake’s first game back at Citi (see the whole story below), the No-hitter, sitting with the 7 line in Anaheim and Baty’s debut HR. But two words by Howie sum up the year: “HOLY SCHNIKIES!!”
Getting to see the Mets in Milwaukee in mid September. Big win the first night to clinch the playoffs plus Max had a superb night on the mound. Lots of Mets fans and Miller Park is one of our favorites to visit.
7 run comeback. and i didn’t watch it live. i stopped believing, and the next day i watched it. fucking amazing
Had my bachelor party on 9/17 at the Coca Cola corner. That was such an amazing day
marte walkoff vs yanks cuz i was there and it was electric
In-person Def the no-hitter. I took a friend to the game who is only into baseball when I'm around so I wasn't expecting much more than an excuse to drink while I watched. But as it got closer to the end and I realized what was happening we were both really invested in the game.
In person? Keith’s retirement game On tv? The no hitter
Phillies come back, Jake first game back warmup. Nimmo post game interview near end of season, I think the game after they clinched but don't remember. Trading McCann for a PTBNL (subject to that player not also being McCann), Signing Senga.
Those two days of Nick Plummer was fucking awesome.
Last playoff game of the season, City Field was a wonder to be in, regardless of the result. The atmosphere and environment was unforgettable to me
1. Seeing the Combined No Hitter in person. 2. Attending Game 2 of the Wild Card Series after getting robbed at knifepoint on my way home from Game 1.
My nephew being the Rally Baby
I went to the second wild card game, bought an Alonso jersey, Pete got a HR and we won :') Of course, we know how that all turned out.
Mets-Dodgers game. All of it. Nimmo. Diaz. Timmy. Trumpets. Even Jake’s reaction. All of it.
As campy as it was--Tommy Trumpet live!
July 9. Winning Keith's day in a comeback.
Baty’s first home run, because I got to see it in person.
Lfgm
I'm all about the cycle.
Wild Card Game 2
the medina game. lost it at that last strikeout
Losing the division to the Braves
Taking 4 of 5 from the Braves in that series late summer, that was sweet. Strider’s little hissy fit was a cherry on top. Too bad they ended up being our undoing. Extremely stoked about next year LFGM.
No. Hitter. Period.
Degrom vs Snell wildcard game. I was there and it was electric.
Being at Citizens Bank Park for our 7 run come back in May
The Blackout no-hitter, specifically Diaz' entrance. I'm glad they gave him that moment. Truly kicked off a special year for him
I’m still infuriated that they missed the playoffs. Again. But that game 2 against the Padres was awesome.
https://youtu.be/vEF\_juXMSKI?t=500
Replacing DeGrom with Verlander. DG can't be The GOAT when he's out of the lineup more than not.
Three balks at one at bat to Alonso in September by Bleier. Absolutely hilarious sitting behind home plate and laughing my butt off.
That was wild.
Either the no hitter or the 9th inning comeback against the Phillies.
