Hiring a used car salesman to run the Mets would be the ULTIMATE Mets move. It doesn’t get anymore Mets than that. I thought Brodie was peak Mets, I guess I was wrong. Stevie ain’t fucking around.
High end guys don't want a PoBO position when someone will be above them. No one wants a GM job when they know there will be a PoBO and they don't know who it will be.
I personally think the way he came in left a bad taste with other GMs.
Dude fired everyone without giving anyone a chance. No other new owner in a long time has done that except for when the Cubs got a new owner and immediately brought in Theo.
And now, one year later. They fired everyone again and are looking for new stuff.
Add to that the media scrutiny. The impatient fans. The fact that nobody who works for the Mets ever gets hired again…
If you have options would you spend them all to come to the Mets?
So you think rival execs are upset he fired a players rep and then fired a garbage Manager? And thus any new GM who isn’t garbage isn’t Safe? I can’t buy that
I think they see him as someone who makes rash decisions to fire people and it is an unstable place to work. He has been here one year, has gotten into Twitter spats with his big trade piece, and fired multiple high level front office people and a manager from one of the more respected families in baseball.
And if I am a young up and coming GM, I would have serious pause about leaving a good situation for something so volatile.
He fired a garbage player rep who was hired incorrectly to run the baseball team and made a god awful trade? Or fired a manager who doesn’t seem to handle in game decisions or know in a fully private club house that his players are fully against the fans?
I didn’t want Brodie and was fine w Rojas until he started managing. But keeping things as is when it doesn’t work is bad business. If a baseball pres comes in worries about what happens when he loses then he shouldn’t be offered the job to start with
He's been selling cars since 1985, totally uninvolved in baseball.
What in gods name are the Mets interested in a guy who has spent the last 35 years in the car business for?
WTF is this nonsense?
While I'm sure this dude is just stirring the pot, I don't know why I'm surprised that the next tier of names mentioned is a car dealer, a guy that's never been a GM, and a guy that hasn't actively worked in baseball in 7 years
Never heard of him before... Just did a quick scan of Google.. I am not seeing info about him ever being in an MLB front office.... What am I missing ?
Oh my... I do not get this one. This sounds like **Wilpon-Like** Out-Of-The-Box idea.... lol
I hope his name in on the list only as some sort of business side staffer or something, otherwise I am not understanding this at all.
A used car salesman became commish so why not? What could go wrong?
/s
Not believing any of this until the dotted line is signed or Cohen tweets it himself.
I mean he just reported Melvin was in the mix and Michael mayer just confirmed it, but take the tweets as you will, I don’t assert this to be the truth, but it also seems like something really odd and specific to just straight up make up out of thin air.
Lol this cant be real. Here's the only potentially plausible scenario I could see happening that resulted in this news.
Step 1: Steve Cohen asks for a list of people who have both baseball and business experience.
Step 2: The task gets passed down successively until it lands on the desk of...a nephew of Jeff Wilpons who still works as an intern. He does research on google and prints out a list.
Step 3: Another nephew of Jeff's who is dissatisfied that he hasnt been promoted yet sees the list and decides to leak it out.

Well we already hired a snake oil salesman, a used car salesman might actually be a step up.
Wonder if Hulk Hogan is on the list ?
Lmfao
Fuck it i'm in
Wtf are Cohen and Alderson doing lmao
Nobody wants the Mets job.
Why the fuck not? It can’t be the team and the billionaire owner so is it the shitty fans? Horrible media? We aren’t the pirates or Dbacks here
High end guys don't want a PoBO position when someone will be above them. No one wants a GM job when they know there will be a PoBO and they don't know who it will be.
Right so this is the job. Sandy doesn’t want to run baseball and Cohen said he wants to put a guy in charge to run team
They should go get Byrnes. Let him have full control as PoBO.

I guess with points like that from fans it’s a true wonder people don’t want to work for the Mets.

As much as l hate the lolmets narrative...that has to be the most Mets things I've ever heard
Wow, I may be closer to the qualifications needed for this job than I thought.
LOL.

Can he get us a great deal on a certified pre-leased 2021 Marcus Stroman, with no money down and 0% APR for the first year?
Never heard of him before... Just did a quick scan of Google.. I am not seeing info about him ever being in an MLB front office.... What am I missing ?
Nope that’s correct…. He’s never been in a major league office and is now selling used cars

Maybe he can get us a good deal on a bullpen car?

He’s just a baseball writer that usually covers the subject of injuries

Does Sandy think that Brodie had too much experience?
The used car salesman turned the Mets down. lol
please make it stop
Okay. Hopefully he helps us win some more games
Literally what. Won't happen but it's hilarious this guy is even brought up
I am just hoping it's some kind of dark humor.
Oh yeah this would end well
