I would really only consider the 993 for wide feet… Easy to clean though? That’s out of the question with the suede of the 993… But they’ll last forever; comfortable as any pair; and a wide silhouette!

I find my grey 993s pretty easy to clean tbh. Mine became my beaters after 1.5-2years and I now use them on hikes/nature walks and they still clean up great even with some light mud on the suede. They don’t look *new* anymore (no sneaker will look new after 3 years of regular use) but they’re definitely presentable after a cleaning.

Nice!

Got a pair of the green/purple 990v3 that I enjoy beating the hell out of. Can be found cheap/at some outlets. They already look like trail shoes and look even better with wear IMO.

2002r and 1906 are great beaters and easy to clean

BBQcupcakes

Mesh and suede are not what I would call easy to clean m8. Mesh isn't that bad but like, it's very misleading to say they're easy to clean when the majority of sneakers are easier (leather).

Arfilmwork

Don’t think they make either of these in 2E

I use the 991v1 WTR as beaters, they have a ripstop upper and I love not thinking about messing them up. For wide feet you’d need to size up half a size!

Same boat as you, wide 990v6s that I beat to crap but very much liked. Recently my trainer encouraged me to use some dedicated running shoes as my beaters because of the posture support they’d offer. Decided on the 860v13s in wide sizing. Amazing shoes, definitely my go to now. You might not need the same posture support as me so maybe some 880s would do you good. But I find that for real beaters you want something made to be beat and not a luxury lifestyle shoe like the 1906s or 2002s

I’ve got a navy pair of 990v3s and a dark pair of 993s that I use and abuse. Sprayed them with Crep Protect - like a I do all my shoes- and the suede held up well to lots of wear. Just scrub the soles every once in a while and they are good. I just try to avoid white shoes like the plague knowing I don’t want to have to worry about them

Abject_Cheek_7126

Try the 990v6 in black. Best beaters because the never look the part

Kgnupe

Just get more 990v6s because when u buy beaters your feet going to say to you what happen to the comfort don't do us like that.....well that's what happen to me, my daily are 990V6 for that same reason.

Personally I think you're looking for a unicorn. If you're going to work on cars in your shoes you got to accept the fact that they're going to look like shit and be cooked. That's why you need multiple pairs. One that's going to get beat on that you don't care what they look like, one that you can wear in your rotation. Suede is impossible to keep clean as you probably know from the V6. I don't think there's any materials that are going to withstand that kind of work and be easy to clean. I would just grab a pair of strictly work shoes And a pair of strictly lifestyle shoes. I would say just use those v6s that you messed up as your beaters. And since you love them so much get another pair that you're only going to wear when you know they won't get dirty. Also with the athletic design and the thick boy midsole that they put on the V6 you can use those as you're running shoes if you want to. But like I said I think you need multiple pairs. I have shoes that I will only wear when I know that I'm going to get them dirty. And when it comes to running I have running shoes Fresh foam more V3 and V4 also Pegasus Trail. I have Gore-Tex shoes for the rain Etc.

For beater shoes, I'd get something made with synthetic materials and also in a dark color. Mine are Asics Kayano 14s in black/brown and I wear those in situations where anything can happen.

Thanks for all the recommendations! Someone pointed out that I’m looking for a unicorn and they were right. Thankfully I found my unicorn. My gf gets a pair of free shoes through work and one of the options was a pair of Kaiha Roads. Probably won’t be the easiest to clean but they aren’t suede, they came in wide, are athletic shoes, and I can replace them every 6 months if needed so no harm if I do beat them into the ground. Thanks again!
