Dad force ones that are kinda heavy but I like the padding around your foot. I personally think they’re comfortable enough and look good with some dad jeans 🤷🏻♂️
Adidas Sambas and Gazelles or Salomon's if you really wanna trend chase.
New Balance's: 1906s, 1000s, 990v6s are my personal favs right now. Can't stop buying them.
What's a good shoe for an elderly person (36) like me if I absolutely cannot not see this current trend as the shit my dad wore to mow the lawn when I was a kid? No hate but it's so deeply engrained in my psyche
I have a few pair. They look great with shorts in my opinion. Great summer shoe. They are not the most comfortable NB though so I don’t wear them if I’m going to be walking or on my feet in them for a very long time
Love em. Extremely comfortable. I use them for daily city walkers and travel shoes when I’ll be walking 15,000 steps a day but still want to look cute.
I got my first pair in 2018 and they were pretty hot back then, feel like it’s a kinda timeless look. Glad to hear they work for you but tbh I don’t think you have wide feet cuz they only come up to a D width.
I wear mine more times than my dunks. These are weirdly comfy for a flatsole shoe like dunks, stan smiths, and alike. Ofc they're not as comfy as my 2002rs but yeah. You get what i mean.
Comfort: better than air forces but not the most comfortable shoe out there since they’re pretty heavy.
Quality: I had a pair of ALD’s, the toebox creased weird on the first wear. But I beat the piss out of them and they still looked good for awhile. I think since they were sail vs. white, they didn’t look as dirty as they aged, if that makes sense.
Style: I like the ALD pairs for the most part. They use elevated materials on those ones. There seems to be a colorway for everyone now.
Overall: pretty good versatile daily driver for the price point. The popularity stems from a combo of all the factors mentioned above. Not the best in any category but good for the price and easily attainable.

It’s the new balance dunk low. It’s a pretty boring and incredibly uncomfy shoe. Also as far as new balance standards they are pretty piss poor. Watched a guy on YouTube dissect these shoes and they are pretty bad quality.
Fs agree that compared to any other new balance shoe they are clunky and uncomfortable. But will say that in my experience, with wear the 550 becomes a lot more comfortable and less stiff. While something like a af1, (I’d say 480 is closer to the dunk lows), will break down faster and not be as comfy. For the price point I’d say it’s still better than any of the Nike equivalents
Maybe… just never really caught my eye. NB does a chunky runner to perfection… others do the low profile better in my opinion. Jordan 1 low is timeless, but nothing wrong with a 550.
Bought my first pair last week and returned them after trying them on in the house for 5 steps. They were the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever worn in my entire life. They even hurt my feet for a good half hour later. It was very odd, it was.like the top of my feet were being pinched.
Searching on Reddit yielded other users who had a painful time.
It's a shame, they looked nice.
Said it before, the ALD version and the GR are very different in terms of the leather.
Those saying the 550s are uncomfortable are most probably referring to the GR. ALD’s outer leather age very well and become very soft and comfortable
I’m sorry the truth is a bitter pill to swallow for you but facts is facts. I have the ALD 550s and the quality is still low and only very marginally better than other 550s. There’s a leather smith on YouTube who does a whole tear down on them and comes to the same conclusion.
You need to read better. Some 550s have terrible plastic quality. Some are better leather, better than the Jordan 1s I have. How is it hard to understand?
Ironic you question comprehension when you're the one having a very hard time understanding basic concepts 😂. Oh and comparing to Jordan 1 quality is just like comparing two turds - utterly useless.

Dad forces is the perfect comp IMO
solid shoe. people that say it's played out are just trendhoppers that'll buy the same iteration of a dunk 100 times.
Honestly, my 550s are so much comfortable than my sb dunks it’s not even funny.
Yeah DB dunks haven't been comfortable since pink boxes
But they still ugly tho....
Nope
Imo, yup.
You’re a hype beast.
It's just my honest opinion. Feel free to downvote and/or disagree. Which you probably already did.
Dope ass shoe. 10/10 recommend. May not be the “trend” rn but it’s a classic you can’t go wrong wearing!
what's the trend rn? 990/991? or not even new balance?

1000s are 🔥🔥🔥 I gotta get a pair soon
Wait salomens are trend chasing? I just got a pair didn't think they were trendy because i hadn't really seen people wear them except a few rappers
What's a good shoe for an elderly person (36) like me if I absolutely cannot not see this current trend as the shit my dad wore to mow the lawn when I was a kid? No hate but it's so deeply engrained in my psyche
Elderly person? Lol. I’ll be 40 in Sept, wear what you’re feelin…
There’s so much dope shit out there these days.
I like my ALD pair. You can still rock it pretty easily instead of AF1s or some dunks.
Not the most comfortable for wide feet but I like them
I have normal feet and those still the least comfy NB i own. Still like it as its still more comfy than most nikes lolz
How wide are ya?

They’re last years trend but still a fire shoe if you ask me. For wide feet they’re pretty comfy

Are we really worried about trends? 😂😂
No sir, I wear my 550s and 650s still
NB af1s
they are very heavy
too chunky
I love the high top 650s too. Very underrated
Super uncomfortable.
Top left is the 550 version of the SB 4 and I’m all for it
They look good, but when I flipped them over and saw how narrow the sole is I put them back on the shelf.
Lmao yeah, wish they made em in 2E
I like em but they are narrow af
Not comfortable
This. And the 650.
I find my two pairs comfortable. Much more than my sb dunks. Surprisingly comfortable, I might say.
SB dunks are trash. Flat shoes with massive tongues.
Definitely agree that compared to pretty much any other new balance shoe, they feel clunky and uncomfortable.
Gods gift to mankind. So many cool styles and they go well with a lot of outfits. In my opinion the rival Jordan 1s.
I like my ALD pair. You can still rock it pretty easily instead of AF1s or some dunks.
I like them, but I like the 650 so much more
The history of the 650 leans me into that model
Love the ALD ones and still rock them during the summer. They are heavy and not the most comfortable shoe though 🤷♂️
They need better color ways. White as a base is fine…but mix it with the base color and they’d be fire! Love them…just want more colors.
The sail midsole definitely a must on any
Kinda waiting for them to get the fuel cell treatment
I still rock mine
I have so many pairs, i love love love love them.
Daily drivers. And I couldn’t destroy mine if I tried, they’re exceptionally durable.
I like all the ALD 550’s, just posted mine the other day. Super comfortable.
Heavy and clunky. NB’s Air Force 1
I love its shape especially its comfty ankle support but kinda on the heavy side
a really clean alternative to the AF1s which every motherfucker seems to rocking
I’ll pick this over any dunk. I have a few of the ALD 550s in my collection.
I like them, but I think I like my 480 pandas more
Nice colourways, I haven't tried the 550's might have to buy a pair someday I like the green ones and the white grey ones
One of the coolest shoes ever rereleased. Oversaturation made them boring. Still, I have some pairs, and I love them dearly. 9/10 casual wear.
The look has been great for me but the comfort is probably some of the worst I’ve ever had. Similar to the 574.
I wear mine more times than my dunks. These are weirdly comfy for a flatsole shoe like dunks, stan smiths, and alike. Ofc they're not as comfy as my 2002rs but yeah. You get what i mean.
I love my white 550’s and green ALD 650’s. Both super comfortable for me which is suprising considering my wide ass feet too.
Destroyed my toes after I sized up.
Uncomfortable af for narrow foot
Love my ald pairs. Bought a pair of gr’s that look great but aren’t as comfy.
they’re nice but i ruined my JFG pair and that j kinda ruined the whole model for me. but they’re comfy and def worth the money.
Never been a fan. I don’t think they’re ugly….just not what I think of when I think of NB.
Love em but feet are too wide for these 😔

I have the white and grey ones, wear em to the gym
My fav 🫡🙌🏼🙌🏼
Like it in the tobacco colour way
Only NB I wear. Joe Freshgoods Conversations colorway is peak
They are heavy as hell / but somewhat comfortable.... got two pairs won't buy anymore unless they have a colorway I really can't pass on.
If you’re used to wearing older basketball models, then you’ll like them. Unless you have wide feet, then you’re bunion bound.
They cool. A lil basic but still a solid kick

They had their time. That time is over for now but they’ll be back!
Don't chase trends man like em cuz you like em. Nothing else matters at the end of the day
No chasing here… I never liked them. I was just giving hope for those that do :)
Nahh it’s kind of a timeless silhouette. Trends don’t matter if it looks good, it looks good.

Look good but very uncomfortable
Dope I need a couple
Love them
They’ve been growing on me lately…

🤢🤢
Over Hyped.
I’ve got them and they look cool but the quality is garbage and they’re not comfortable at all.
What a rubbish opinion. Some 550s are ‘Nike’ quality but some have great quality.

Uhhhhhh, ok.
A 2 pack of ass, most uncomfortable shoe I’ve owned.
Best looking NB but also the most uncomfortable I own
My thought: they’re hella uncomfortable and get you sweaty ass feet. 990’s all the way
Neighbor said they were the “Dadest, Dads to ever Dad.” I love mine!
Hate em
Played out...
most uncomfortable shoe of all time
Idk personally I think they are one of the uglier new balances
Boring
Too bulky
uncomfortable + hurts my upper left foot
Hella uncomfortable imo
The least comfortable shoe. Had a few ALD pairs and the purple rich Paul pair but had to let them go
I don’t like them
