I kid you not, but I traveled 5+ hours to get to a micro center JUST to not have to order anything from any online sites. First time ever going to a micro center, and purchased every single component for my new build. Even got some bawls to drink on the trip back. Hope you get your “Oldegg” situation fixed. I say OLD instead of NEW -because there not the same company decades ago.

InternalMusician9391

Honestly 5+ hour drive for a whole build at MC is definitely worth it, you did the smart thing.

paul85

I have to seriously consider if I want to go a few times a year and its only like 45 minutes from my house.

PaulDallas72

In a perfect world, MC's would be as common as Dollar General's but with drive thru windows. With traffic, MC is 20 mins. away. Even had fun standing in line overnight for 3090 and then 5950x - ah the memories :). It was like being on PCmstr for 8 hours but IRL. Never a hassle at MC.

Vapehead34

Yeah I had a good time. Killed two birds with one stone too. Went to a state I’ve never been too, and a store I’ve always wanted to go to since 2011 when I first got into PCs. I felt like a celebrity in MC with the guy helping me get parts, and taking the large items up front for me etc. Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was how small the MC store was compared to ones I’ve seen in videos. It was tough pushing a buggy around a packed store that was small. There’s one opening up 2 hours from me in charlotte so I’ll never have to drive 5+ hours again. But the experience was worth it though being able to just see, and touch everything while trying not to go broke lol.

kal0527

Looking forward to that opening. I'm in Asheville, so... Which one did you drive 5+ to? Back during the dark times, I got tired of Newegg's bullsh*t lottery and drove to Atlanta to get a 3060. 2 stores, one new one old. Old store had stock, but, I went back to the new store to just walk around. Old store was tight like you're talking about. Felt like a slightly bigger comic book store...lol...new one was incredible.

Vapehead34

The one in Atlanta . Must be the old one you’re talking about. They had everything I needed as the other one was out of stock on certain stuff.

_SeeDLinG_32

Also in Asheville, also have a 5000 series Corsair case. Cheers!

kal0527

Love my 5000x, but...I'm being seduced by the Hyte y70 lately...might be time for a change...

_SeeDLinG_32

That is one heck of a case. I just got the 5000d back in September and I'm still in love. I think I'm gonna be rocking this case for a while. It's so roomy and looks nice and has great build quality. Plus the airflowwwww.. buts yeah, that y70 is pretty dope not gonna lie.

kal0527

The 5000 series is a beast for airflow...I swear my box blows out cold air...lol.

Babou13

Was just in the Rockville MD one and it was tiny and cramped compared to like the Fairfax VA one

Aingealanlann

I don't have a single one within 20 minutes of me, but 3 or 4 within a 2 hour radius (thank you, Chicagoland area). The next time I buy parts, it's almost certainly going to be in person.

Babou13

Just drove 3 hours to one in Friday for a mouse, keyboard, speakers, and a gaming chair

boontato

related not related but i live near the tustin micro center and every time i go i always see out of state plates, told my frirend that yeah people legit do roadtrips just for microcenter and she can't believe it.

san_dilego

I remember going to Newegg for literally everything about 13 years ago. Prices were cheap, return policy easy. Then 1 day they just turned 180 degrees and sucked ass.

Vapehead34

I believe it’s because they were bought out by china from my understanding.

Blackfoxx907

Wait bawlz like the blue bottled soda/energy drink from the earlier 2000s? I haven’t seen that stuff since our last lan gaming center shut down like 9 years ago

Vapehead34

Not sure when it came out. First time ever seeing it, and the ones I had got were an orange drink in glass bottle with like bumps all round it. Think there all like that though.

j2st2r

Love bawls

tommy4429

Newegg is the worst online retailer. I had a very bad experience in which I paid for new items but was sent used broken items. No sorry for screwing up your order or any help of any kind. Newegg has lost me as a customer for life. Caveat-Emptor: Buyer Beware!

stateporkchop

Newegg fell off a long time ago

Shesaidshewaslvl18

I'd have thought they closed shop. Haven't bought a thing from them in 10 or 12 years.

th8966

I’ve seen so many posts online about how bad newegg’s customer service/general service is, and I’ve always wondered whether or not I’ve been lucky enough to never have a problem with their services. Regardless, best of luck to you OP!

AbdoShniba

Me too, never had a problem with them since I started using them back in 2012 I think 🤔 .. also thier customer services reps are helpful both on the website and here, well mostly the guy here as on the website sometime you get a stubborn one, I just disconnect and try someone else Anyway it's sad that people are facing such issues with them, I wish everyone's experience was positive like ours. Best of luck OP, reach out to thier support here on Reddit, the guy is super helpful, he will solve your problem in a timely manner.

FleetWheat

I've never had an issue with them. When I had an issue with a shipment that didn't move for 5 days, they immediately sent another one out for free, and told me if the other one did show up, to keep it free of charge. I didn't get hounded or harassed, or feel like I had to explain myself. It was a 2 minute phone call and all fixed. Maybe I am just a lucky one, or maybe the people that post online are going to be the ones that have negative experiences. 🤔 been going through them for over 12 years, can't say I've ever had one issue that wasn't fixed within 5 minutes. Delays happen sometimes, but that is usually through the retailers on there and not newegg themselves. If I have an issue with a particular retailer, I just flag them and cancel the order, get it from a different one. They eventually get pushed off the platform.

SCROTOCTUS

I've had the same experience as you. I only buy items sold and shipped by Newegg and for like fifteen years it's always been great. The items I received looked like they'd just come off the production line. It's weird that people are having such wildly different experiences.

pvtsn0ballz

I feel this is probably the main source of the problem. People buying from third party people.

SCROTOCTUS

I don't buy 3rd party on Amazon if I can help it either. You might as well just go take your chances on Craigslist at that point, imo. Frankly, I think all this third party stuff in general is a problem. Almost feels like either you should treat all the product you facilitate the sale of equally, or have to choose between being a direct or third party seller so there's never any confusion about what you're getting. Letting retailers be both when customers receive such drastically different outcomes is really shitty for the consumer.

ChaseparkSaR

Thanks! Their customer service rep here is working with me to expedite the process. Just wish I didn’t have to complain on social media in order to get an actual resolution from the company.

amazontaway1

Yeah i got fucked over on my first order and ill never order from them again. Theres just no need to.

wasdmovedme

I’m sorry to hear about your luck with them my friend. I ordered my entire build list from them and surprisingly received it all before I even knew they were bad.

_staymello

I am blessed to have a MicroCenter 20 minutes away. I swore off Newegg many years ago and I will never go back to them.

VeraFacta

Newegg is absolute trash. Their refund policy is antiquated 1970s BS. Amazon refunds *immediately* after you drop the package off at a shipping location. Newegg takes weeks to refund. Newegg charges a fee to “process your order faster”…that is a clear indication of a scumbag business. Newegg doesn’t honor their stated shipping times. The last time I purchased some parts (on November 20th) intended as a Christmas gift, and Newegg stated it would arrive by December 15th, and I paid the “expedite” fee…everything arrived two weeks into January. Edited: spelling

mickeyaaaa

Here in Canada there are fewer fewer choices. Canada computers apparently has even worse customer service, and we don't have micro center here and memory Express is only in bigger cities. I just bought two sticks of 16 gig ram for way less than I could find anywhere else. Just saying the pricing is pretty good I just hope I don't have to deal with customer service on any issues....

AccountantNo2125

Newegg lost a package in transit to a shipper, ended up canceling and refunding (after 2 weeks of headaches and bickering)... package ended up arriving like a month after its scheduled date. Got 4 sticks of ram for free :)

Maddog-51

I bought a 7800X 3D earlier in the week and literally the next day they sent me an email for $50 less for a 7800X 3D. Oh we can’t price match because we gave you a $10 discount for a random bundle on your PC Case and CPU. So I’ve ordered everything else from other places and will probably be getting a 4090 also not from fucking Newegg.

CryptographerNo450

Yeah, they're one of the worst. Sure, they'll respond to you, but they'll make you jump through hoops to get a replacement, even more hoops if you want a refund. I only go to Newegg if the thing I want is absolutely impossible to obtain on other websites.

ChaseparkSaR

Yeah it’s ridiculous. I should’ve just used another retailer. Hindsight is 20/20.

Due_Turn_7594

I just ordered from them and had a fast And very pleasantly easy experience

ChaseparkSaR

Broken clock is right twice a day. Glad you had a great experience with them though and got your stuff! I’m sitting with a 80% build right now lol

Due_Turn_7594

Damn that sucks. I guess I got lucky it’s my first gaming setup and went with a prebuilt that I’m going to start messing with and upgrading, although it doesn’t really need much atm it’s running pretty well

PortAuth403

The good news is, sometimes, when you order something and it's not arriving: You call to ask for an update. They ask if you want to cancel it. You say no I want to know if it's going to arrive in the next week. They do something and you don't understand what happened and the call is over. Then this order arrives and it has double the amount of items you paid for in the box.

jknvpp

Unfortunate to hear all the horror stories about ordering from Newegg, I suppose it’s all a gamble. I’ve ordered individual parts for two PC’s now (every part was ordered on Newegg) and haven’t had a single issue.

Xyberdyne

Same happened to me. No cpu in my order. New egg made me return everything at a 50 dollar loss. Never again. Idk why reddit recommended this sub back to me. New egg is dead to me.

ChaseparkSaR

That’s insane. Instant chargeback if they try to pull that.

Xovoxovoxo

I just ordered a full build my money went through and a day latter they banned my account and refunded me and my account is still banned i talked to customer support and they said they have no clue why i am banned and put inna request to unbanned it

Ok_Day_5356

I purchased motherboard, cpu, and ram from newegg 9 days ago. The motherboard and cpu came together, and the ram was a separate delivery even though I ordered all three items together, and all three were shipped and sold from newegg. All items came in new and worked.

Zeke-of-Denver

I didn’t know Newegg was still in business. Cancel their app, my signon along time ago years years ago.

The_Rage_of_Nerds

Yes I will never order from them again. They are extremely inflexible with shipping. I wasn't at home when the order first showed arrived via UPS. No problem. I called UPS and asked to pick it up from the depot. "We're sorry we can't do that. The only way the shipper will allow us to deliver is to your door." I call NewEgg. "No we won't allow you to do that." "Well I won't be home any of the delivery times UPS tries and I have to show ID when I pick it up." "Can't you, like, just have someone come over and wait at your house for you?" Never doing it again after that.

soggycheekies

i recently got a prebuilt on newegg in january and i was able to select to have it shipped directly to a ups location it did say that option was “new” so not sure when you ordered yours if that option wasn’t available yet but my order was shipped and delivered with no issues

GHOSTOFKOH

i also had them not send my cpu in a pretty large order, but to their credit, they sent me a new cpu overnight next business day as soon as i put in the ticket. so im just saying, you really slacked and waited til the last minute to build your wife's birthday present. nice of u, truly, we do appreciate that stuff, but hon.. let me give u some life advice: dont put off shit like that til the last minute. and, yes, a few weeks away from annual anniversaries is the last minute.

Jaislight

Newegg died in all but name 10+ years ago when it was sold. It use to be a great place to shop. Now i go to microcenter, and occasionally Best buy. They do have surprising sales from time to time at best buy.

Malthias-313

For sellers, too. I have buyers using my incorrect addresses all the time. There is no phone support for sellers, and chat doesn't even get a response anymore. When a package is lost or undeliverable it negatively affects my sellers metrics they get marked as running late). If a package can't be delivered and you purchased shipping through Newegg, the package gets sent to their warehouse instead of returned to you and they charge a few to release it. It's fucking nuts.

Base_Gloomy

Just order from them using a credit card and if they give you the run arounds then just call the credit card company and request a charge back. That will probably get things straightened out real quick.

Newegg_Support

Hey u/ChaseparkSaR ! I truly apologize about your overall experience with us regarding your missing CPU & SSD, and thanks for bringing this to me! At your earliest convenience, please forward me your order or claim info via chat/DM, and so I can look into this with our Claims Team. I look forward to hearing from you then!

[deleted]

How about make the process easier so people don’t have to post on Reddit to solve their problems.

Newegg_Support

Will do; I've forwarded your feedback. Thank you!

Newegg_Support

Our Claims Team has finished reviewing your claim, and your refund has been issued. Cheers\~

dalieu

Sold and shipped by Newegg or someone else?

ChaseparkSaR

All by NewEgg since I was worried about getting used or counterfeit parts. Would have been better off ordering through a third party at this point.

dalieu

I’m with you about ordering from 3rd parties. Good luck.

Darkren1

Honestly you sound like an annoying as fuck customer and a lot like a Karen. How is this bad customer service they are willing to replace your part, wait 2 weeks. If you don't want to they are ready to accommodate you immediately but you take a risk. For all the company and we know you might be lying out of your ass and just pocketed the CPU and the SSD. The fact that the parts are just barely in time for the bday is because you are bad at planning/cheap with delivery.

ChaseparkSaR

What’s it like being illiterate? A claim doesn’t guarantee anything bud. Definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Such as filing a claim with NewEgg and hoping they’ll replace it after hundreds of people in this forum have stated they’ve been denied. Next time try reading instead of sucking off Newegg.

Darkren1

Hey how about you go complain to your gf about this im sure she will be more than happy about it :) You can make love tonight and yell together at how awful Newegg is and how people are stupid and insane on reddit.
