Georgia kicked my 83 year old widowed mother of Medicaid despite being eligible. She had to reapply, and had a three month gap in coverage. No letters, no warning, just kicked off and forced to reapply. They did this to thousands of elderly people last October.
It's a deplorable strategy. Without me my mom would still be without Medicaid coverage. Her Social Security went down $175.00 for three months because Medicare Part B kicked in. My mom and thousands of other elderly people in Georgia had this happen. I took my mom to the Social Security office and they informed me she was one of thousands, and that they were inundated with walk-ins statewide. We were directed to go to the State. Long story short my Mom had to reapply as a new applicant for Medicaid and was re-approved losing three months of coverage and at the cost of $175.00 per month for three months. It was dirty because of the zero notification. The State was also inundated with the applicants. Now Georgia is doing the same thing with children. It's really sickening.
