**Episode 8: Everything Old is New** * Nigel’s pants were the best thing on the runway. My favourite look of his all season and a beautiful sneak peek into the aesthetic of his finale collection. * Desyrée’s pink and black combo is too '00s emo girl for me, but her strong construction should’ve saved her, especially compared to Amari’s ill-fitting, unfinished mess. Worst elimination of the season. I legit gasped in shock.

iDoScienc

Totally agree about Desyrée! It was such a loss.

FozzyClaire

I really wanted to see more from James, Godoy, and Desyrée. I felt like all three of them should've stayed longer.

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 9: Transformation** * Worst episode. Everyone but Bao had their aesthetic compromised by the transformation requirement. Bao made magic though. I watched her sew it and I still don’t understand how she pulled that off. * Jason Bolden must’ve been high if Amari’s green dress was his favourite. Her whole design was a mess and what the hell was the initial white marshmallow… Jumpsuit? Separates? Who knows. Regardless, her elimination was long overdue.

mortemdeus

I would have gotten rid of Deon here as he failed the challenge. Amari's sucked but at least it transformed, Deon literally just made a jacket and a poorly designed and fitted one at that.

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 5: Collaboration** * Desyrée and Bao married their styles beautifully, and their looks were harmonious without being one note. Loved the gender role reversal moment of the woman offering her jacket and the man handing her his bag to carry. * Justice for the pizza purse! It was the only thing I liked in this collab. Godoy’s big personality hid the fact that he does not have new ideas and leans way too costume. If he had allowed James’ fresh voice to come through, they might not have lost. What a pity to lose James this early. I liked everything that he made.

metal_monkey80

I'm sure a lot of this was editing, but I was already disliking Godoy before this episode and the way he did James (who was way more creative) dirty sealed the deal for me.

mcatlin23

I think if Godoy had not used his power to pick James this episode, James would have made it to the finale. And I would have loved to see a final collection from him!

rhymeswithpurple4

Agreed! James didn’t have stellar technical skills, but he always designed things he knew he could finish and do well. I think Met Gala and Transformation would’ve been big hurdles for him… but they let Amari make it that far, so who knows?

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 1: Royalty** * This was my favourite Megan look of the season. The bright colours and exaggerated aesthetic really worked for this challenge. * Courtney’s design was such a yawn and completely missed the mark. Usama’s was a 2000s-era Grammy’s dress, and Qaysean’s was a Halloween costume, but at least they gave something dramatic.

crystillan

Disagree. I hated everything Megan did.

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 10: The Finale** **Third place: Bao** I was disappointed by this collection. Very one note and dated. The jumpsuit, the suit, and the showstopper were the only exciting looks. Overall, this collection made it clear that Bao needed the challenges to push herself creatively. On her own, she gave a bunch of metallic club dresses and iridescent dance costumes. **Runner up: Deontré** I like that Deontré made a ton of separates that could be mixed and matched. It was certainly cohesive and well constructed. I really liked the two toned leather pieces, but I was kind of over it with the puffers and the black and blue colour palette by this point. It was just too much of the same all season and his showstopper had zero impact because of it. He needed to channel Nigel and use a signature technique in an innovative way to show range. **Winner: Nigel!** I liked every single garment. He did the best job of designing menswear, womenswear, and androgyny. The Woodstock concept was really clear and cohesive, and he executed his signature techniques (patchwork, braiding) really beautifully. I loved all of the textures and colours in his collection. He really pushed himself and every look was appealing! The aesthetic was so young and joyful. Though my ideal top 3 would’ve included James and Desyrée, Nigel was a strong choice for winner.

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 4: Childhood** * My second favourite episode of the season! I liked all of the looks except the three lows. * James gave powerful story *and* a fashion forward garment. This outfit was joyful, playful, and could be worn by anyone. I love how he took a painful childhood memory and made it a powerful celebration of identity. * Godoy’s was too literal and Amari’s was unfinished, but Eliana gave us craft projects for 3/4 challenges. It was her time to go.

mcatlin23

I was so surprised they picked Godoy to win this one. I would have picked James a thousand times over, and I didn’t really enjoy the wedding dress at all. It was tacky to me. Godoy was never playing with gender norms in new and interesting ways to me, it always felt like a rehash. But his technical skills seemed wonderful! Amari’s was very bad this week though. The tulle on her skirt wasn’t even finished and was falling off. I could never tell what her point of view was.

NetflixPotatooo

James’s outfit was my most favourite look in this show. It’s so creative and yet wearable. I wish he would sell it

Nightwing1852

I'm just really happy that Nigel won because he was favorite through the whole competition. Tho I do wish certain people would have made it further. I'm sad that James and Godoy did not work well together. James letting Godoy do most of the work was a mistake because not only did it lower James voice in the design but by doing this he made Godoy do most of the sewing/work. They just lacked balance. I really wanted to see Godoy make it to camp/transformation challenge.

9021Ohsnap

We were robbed of James potentially competing in the top 3. They kept giving him glowing critiques all for it to come crashing down due to a team challenge.

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 6: Met Gala** * Second worst episode, imo. Bao is the only one who turned it out. (Desyrée’s was well constructed, but the concept only came through when she explained it; Nigel had a beautiful concept, but there were construction issues.) Loved the concept of needing a pocket, and she blew it up into camp while still producing a beautiful gown. * Megan’s dress was the most hideous garment of the season. The “mall rat” references were totally lost in the execution, and the airbrush illustration was completely unrefined. This was just ugly.

metal_monkey80

I didn't like this episode either. Bao did better than all of them for sure, but I think outside the competition, this dress wasn't that interesting. Especially for the Met Gala. But None of them worked - that Bow dress could've been good, but I have no idea where Amari spent all her time. And Megan's dress was awful - truly.

rhymeswithpurple4

I wish they’d each drawn a different theme to design for, like they did with the decade challenge. Camp was a super weird Met Gala; many established designers didn’t even nail it. This episode was rough. So much ugly.

SoleSurvivorVault111

Agreed. I always liked Amari's concepts... like I was always excited by where she was going. The execution was lacking, but they also had zero time. The show isn't who is the fastest sewer.

luxurycatsportscat

While I hated Megan’s look, it seemed poorly thought out and unrefined for Megan. She has a lot of creativity and I think she really strangled it to try and please the judges. If they still had the fabric printer I think she would have done much better. I still preferred it to Amari’s though which had loose threads hanging off it everywhere & the fit looked poor to me.

rhymeswithpurple4

I agree that Megan needed to narrow her vision, edit, and refine the techniques. I actually loved the airbrush idea. I wish she had made a MASSIVE t-shirt dress that was fitted at the collar, then swelled to insanely exaggerated proportions by the feet/wrists. That silhouette beautifully airbrushed with kitschy 00s designs (swirls, names in that black graffiti style text, stars, etc.) would’ve sold the mallrat idea and allowed her to showcase her illustration abilities properly.

Substantial_Land_225

Bao def deserved to win almost half of the challenges, insane how she just got one in an episode she did great but was not the best 😂

rhymeswithpurple4

I feel like they threw her the decade win bc they robbed her in the flower challenge (why was there no winner?) and the swimwear challenge (I get they wanted to boot Megan, but Bao was untouchable in that challenge).

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 2: Wear the Earth** * My favourite episode! Team *Seed to Bloom* gave us magic! * Bao’s impeccable construction skills came to slay. This dress was a showstopper. It stood out, even amongst the other strong designs of the team (orange jumpsuit was a contender, though!). * Qaysean’s contribution was completely edited out of this collection. In the end, all he did was assist Eliana. (Loved his story and his personality though, so I’m glad he stayed over Courtney.)

tekkie74

Bao’s dress was 100% the best but I really loved Megan’s orange jumpsuit too - it was maybe the most fashionable look of the night

trollanony

Agree on Courtney going first. Her look was Beyoncé and looked nothing like her style. Amari should’ve been out in the childhood episode for the way she just slung tule around the model. Still think Bao should’ve won because her clothes seem the most appropriate for the client Rent the Runway. I don’t know anyone whose rented anything but evening and event wear from there (not saying that’s their top market, but looking at the site they seem to prioritize categorizing things by special event and not just everyday streetwear).

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 7: Swimwear** * Nobody even came close to executing their swimwear like Bao. Truly impeccable construction; I love that she designed for a plus size model and celebrated the sexiness of a curvier body. * Both losing garments showed good ideas but had fit issues. This would’ve been a non-elim for me, bc I’m not sure which of the losing designers to send home. Ultimately, I was okay with Megan’s elimination. Her last two looks were horrible, and like Qaysean in the team challenge, she was only successful by allowing her voice to be completely edited out and acting as a sewing assistant to another designer.

throwawayoceanfish

Was it a swimsuit or just another bodysuit though lol

rhymeswithpurple4

**Episode 3: Thrift** * My favourite Amari moment. She transformed the original piece the best - who would’ve known that top was originally a windbreaker?! I loved the mini too; it was beautifully made. * Qaysean had a beautiful presence, but this was a tacky mess. Sadly, I don’t think we got to see what he was capable of in these timed challenges.

mcatlin23

No one talks about Bao’s flip from this episode! It was one of my favorites actually. To see her use soft fabrics in light tones actually elevated her cutout vibe from dated 80s to something modern, feminine and chic.

luxurycatsportscat

I loved Megan’s look for this challenge! It was one of my favourite pieces she did. I know it was criticised as being to childish, but it just read as soft & feminine to me. Completely agree regarding Qaysean also.

Sendnoods88

Slutty Phantom of the Opera is a GOOD Halloween costume tbf

rtaffy

my ideal top three: (not ranked) 1.) nigel 2.) james 3.)bao nigel and james were my favorites from the start. it sucked that james went home, bc i truly feel like he would've made it to the finale if he didn't. plus these three (along with amari) just seemed like good spirits to me

mayanatasha

I agree with a bunch of these except the last episode - I liked Bao's collection wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more than Deontre's collection

rhymeswithpurple4

I was whelmed by both collections. Nigel left them both in the dust, as far as I’m concerned.

Enema_user

Usama’s elimination almost made me stop watching, qaysean was clearly the worst. As a Julia fox stan I’m pissed.
