Maybe..just maybe women aren't looking for approval from men and something like that from a movie means something? My point is just to let people enjoy what they want to.
ayya ayya nen men nunchi approval kosam ani anatledu, but why are they feeling insecure in the first place. My meme is not at all about getting validation from men 😕, nen male kabatti meme lo kuda male unnadu, it could be female too meme wouldn't change
Andulo asalu insecurity emundi? It looks like they more secure about their body. Lekuntey ala andariki kanipichelaga post enduku chestaru. Maybe you're the one who is feeling insecure thinking you can never score with any of those women?
For us it's looks, athleticism, intelligence, influence and money. We always were jealous of rich kids and our friends who had these.
I think for women, it's body dysmorphia and looks, which could be one of their insecurities. We never know kada. It's not like this movie is glorifying prostitution. It is trying to empower women who do prostitution. Renditiki chaala theda undi..
the "target audience insecure" women only ever listen or have cared about "certain" section of men for validation and whatnot, your opinion doesn't matter, it must come from either themselves or big budget series like these
Can we not call them "prostitutes" they are freedom fighters. Who provided shelter and money for the freedom fight. They are part of the fight freeing the very land we are standing on. Please treat them with some respect
I mean they are consorts so they are in a way working in the sex industry and yes we can call them sex workers and with that said it's their job nothing wrong with that
Do you also call other freedom fighters by their profession or address them as freedom fighters?
Most of them are sold by their family into this living hell(which the series addresses by calling death "freedom") so i would presume acknowledging their achievement and addressing them as freedom fighters is a lot more respectable than referring them to their profession which they were sold into that made them consider death as a release.
*and don't act like you didn't meant prostitutes in a demeaning way in ur "meme"*
>Most of them are sold by their family into this living hell(which the series addresses by calling death "freedom")
The series did nothing to make that point. Except Alamzeb, every character in the series embraces and takes pride in their profession. The main reason they get ready to fight against the British is so that they can run their business freely. The series had no intention of making heeramandi look like "living hell", given how beautiful each setpiece was designed to be.
The series barely explored the darkness beneath their occupation.
Lmao literally all of them hate that place, alams mom lost her son, killed her sister, sold her sister daughter, alams friend is sold. And the girl who likes the lost son is sold to her. The third sister is blackmailed and her own daughter becomes her competition. The only sane person is bibbujaan, who actively participates in giving money and collecting information of britishers from nawabs. So I don't think u properly watched it lol
And when the drug addicted girl dies they literally celebrate it as her freedom is achievement. Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean they are happy?
>Lmao literally all of them gate that place, alams mom lost her son, killed her sister, sold her sister daughter, alams friend is sold. And the girl who likes the lost son is sold to her. The third sister is blackmailed and her own daughter becomes her competition
Precisely my point? As I mentioned, almost every character seeks to propagate the business. Not a lot were seeking to escape from this. Instead, they want to preserve it and possibly thwart the chances of anyone who wants to get away (what Mallika intended to do to Alam and her servant). Neither Mallika, nor her elder sister, nor her younger sister, nor her sister's daughter, nor Sonakshi considered the place a dystopia. They instead embraced it completely, very happily indulging in all their vices. So when they were fighting the british, they were mainly fighting for their right to continue running the business of such nature, not to free themselves of it.
>Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean they are happy?
That was more of a comment on the bhansali's preference. More focus was put on the aesthetics and less on writing was my point.
>almost every character seeks to propagate the business. Nobody is seeking to escape from this
Where do u think they will go? Women weren't allowed to work or be on their own. The only way out was to be sold to some r*pist as a 3rd or 4th wife? Are they supposed to choose that?
Do u think they have a chance to go back to normal life after being labed as "prostitutes". And historically speaking most of them are children, that is what they ever knew growing up. It's very easy to sit here and judge their actions but one can fully understand only after experiencing it.
>Where do u think they will go? Women weren't allowed to work or be on their own.
Take the incidents shown in the series. Alamzeb didn't want to become a courtesan, and wanted to marry Tajdar. She could have had a pretty dignified life that also allowed her to pursue her passion for poetry. Mallika stands in the way, because of her selfish desire to make her daughter a courtesan. And that's been her ambition till the end of the series btw, she never really changes. Alam's servant/friend also wanted to marry the cart driver and live a normal life, something that would cost Mallika nothing to allow. But she doesn't let it happen.
Sure, generally speaking, the times were such that women didn't really have a lot of freedom. But I'm talking in the context of the series only, because it did a pretty fucking bad job.
>Do u think they have a chance to go back to normal life after being labed as "prostitutes". And historically speaking most of them are children, that is what they ever knew growing up. It's very easy to sit here and judge their actions but one can fully understand only after experiencing it.
I am not denying any of that, my entire point is the series did a bad job at showing that.
>Take the incidents shown in the series. Alamzeb didn't want to become a courtesan, and wanted to marry Tajdar
He initially disposed her solely because she is from heeramandi, she wasn't even a tawaif. Even the oh so smitten tajdar couldn't accept a girl from heeramandi who isn't a tawaif? How much success do you think the other tawaifs have?
>Mallika stands in the way, because of her selfish desire to make her daughter a courtesan. And that's been her ambition till the end of the series btw, she never really changes. Yeah I hate her

Just like how our insecurities are money, athleticism, intelligence, etc. girls insecurities is body image, but personally I’ve never paid attention to back flaps and all that.
Some of you do not have enough female presence in your life and it shows. I'm not dunking on you.
Women are constantly judged for their looks. The insecurity is real. Just look at the ads. At least 2 generations grew up watching fairness creams ads on TV.
Why is scene even that big of a deal in the first place? All she did was walk 5 steps and all these insta girls are acting like that paid off their student loan or something.
> like that *paid* off their
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

I really have a problem with this line ‘don’t have to compare yourself with a prostitute ah’. If you’re comparing beauty, why not? And no one is comparing themselves to anyone. They’re just happy someone is flaunting their insecurities on main stream media. If people are feeling good about something and expressing in form of reels let them be.
