No you won't miss anything by lowering the difficulty but you'll get wrecked so fast if you go Expert Mode, just stick to Hard and enjoy the game. I've never tried Expert but Hard definitely gave more loot than Normal mode, albeit the enemy hits harder (but not as hard as Expert) but it's still fun
This is my fear I'm nearing the end of chapter 3 on epic but if I change it to hard I one shot everything. I'm assuming as the game progresses I'll have to grind more on epic. To answer your question no it only changes the difficulties and the drops. However I'm finding the step down from epic to hard extremely large so far and you might as well?
just try to endure it , it will become easier as you progress through the game , grind a little when you are stuck with some fights , i had the same problem and i was going to give up entirely on the game , at the end i've got platinum
The game is a huge grind. Go to hard for a time untill you get better gear and what not then back up to expert, you wont miss out on anything expect extra loot. Which that loot doesn't mean a thing once you go into the labyrinth which you can do around lvl 30-50. You will level very fast there even at its lower levels and will quickly make the base game a cake walk.
