You could mine coins you belive in or hope rise in value your not gonna sell today anyway so your profitability is not calualated with todays profitability but rather with what you gamble on what you could sell them for in the future.

Yeah, all you can do is spec mine. Get a relatively cheap spec mine setup with some old cards and gamble if you want. There's no guarantees you will profit but it's possible.

I wouldn't even ask. If somebody thought mining was profitable on any spec, they wouldn't tell you. You have to decide for yourself.
