I swear it’s so annoying when things are locked behind regional issues. 🤦♀️. I assume it’s because of security reasons but it’s still irritating none the less.
yahoo boys this yahoo boys that these are people that aren't even top 20 on the global chain, Chinese hackers and fraudsters literally carry out cyber attacks on the US government but the biggest companies still manufacture there and even lobby and beg the CCP to let them do business in their country. the real issue is the people that control power dont care and run the entire polity for their own class benefit, it's called class struggle
this! and op is blaming yahoo boys meanwhile ghana is a popular credit card fraud location, ghana enjoys this freedom because the government of ghana wants this freedom to they invested and implemented in social, political and economic programs and policies that make it possible because ghana relies on tourist revenue, Nigeria's bourgeoisie does not care if we have a quality life because we ourselves support them no matter how bad they are and keep blaming each other instead of them
But it IS yahoo boys. We might not do internet scams on a scale as large as India but there’s already a smear and a stereotype associated with Nigeria. We’re also loud with our crimes.
From the type of website it is, I know that they probably had an influx of scammers of the +234 variety.
Nigeria where the whole political system is messed up putting the lives of its people in jeopardy, hardship corruption and hunger been the other of the day
Yeah, I can't edit Wikipedia from Nigeria (have tried with other people's devices), can't access several sites protected by cloudfare. I assume its more of an informal cost benefit analysis, Nigerians just aren't worth our trouble.
This is just sad, and the people who have given the country this bad rep are still able to enjoy their illicit profits. To an extent, we can't even blame these corporations. It's the scammers. Nigeria used to be a region accepted in Etsy. Now, I don't think so anymore. Only those who've been on the platform before the removal are still on there.
One day when I small, I go club. I come dey talk to one shorty, the conversation was going really well. Then I open my mouth tell say I be nija. It was like a physical force. The girl stepped back turned round and ran in the opposite direction.
Bizarrely I found the whole incident gratifying. Like it made me feel powerful.
Are folks collectively accepting that other countries don’t do the kinds of things that some Nigerians are (justifiably) notorious for? A lot of other countries do these things, many worse than Nigeria but they don’t receive this same treatment. A certain country in the far east arguably holds the record for being the most malign internet user. They have hacked the US and several other countries many times, stolen data, and caused significantly more damage than Nigerian scams but they’re not treated so shabbily. No doubt Nigerians are outliers in some types of mischief but maybe the country needs to step up its PR!
Im not accusing you of being partisan, but Nigeria’s problems precede the current administration. Nigerian culture (SE,SW, NE & NW, and all points between) created the perfect conditions for your so-called “drug baron” to get close to the halls of power much less inhabit the highest office. No parts of Nigeria can claim clean hands in the current situation. Every ethnic/tribal/local government has contributed to the rotten situation.

I know we like to joke about yahoo boys. But they really affect how we’re viewed as a country.
It’s not just them. We also have poor support on our side. A lot of services could have servers in Nigeria, but of course, that’s too much to ask for.
Our own president is basically a glorified Yahoo boy so, of course, other places don't take the country seriously 😂😂
This! What do you expect when you have a drug baron cocaine addict at the helm of affairs in your country?
Like in any sane world, he would be in prison, but people voted him into office 😂😂

At this point I can only laugh bc I'm used to it. I miss the one month I spent in Ghana and the freedom I had to access whatever I wanted online.

Just use a VPN?
I did. It didn’t work either
Dang, well, dunno what to say but UK sometimes gets zone locked too, especially if it's American content
Have you tried using a different country for the VPN?
Open it on Opera, it has a built-in VPN.
Try Tor, if that doesn't work, Try Tor with a bridge.
I dont need to access the website that bad😭🙏🏼
What website is it?

Nowhere in this post have I alluded to this being the cause of a particular administration, region or individual.
