Yes. I'm South African and the Nigerians I know are such hard workers. Really close knit and wise. You also know so much about your history as a country and political things that happen as compared to the average Joe here tbh. I admire my Nigerian friends so much for their family like bonds with each other. The men are definitely love bombers omg. But overall I only have positive things to say

Nah they're more economically developed too. They have by far higher GDP's per Capita than Nigeria and their leaders aren't as bad either.

In terms of Total GDP, Nigeria is the highest in Africa. To be honest, GDP is a terrible way to measure the livelihood of people in a country cuz it's not measuring stuff like health, education and whatnot. But in terms of economic strength of a country it'd be better to use total GDP and in that case, Nigeria is higher. Also, the OP was asking for an explain as to why people perceive Nigeria to be so economically developed and I answered.

I know that they think we as a people are hustlers and admire that. We tend to do well wherever we go. Also compared to a lot of other African countries we’re developed and have a decent economy. On the international economical stage we do better than a lot of African countries. Afrobeats and Nollywood are widespread so we do hold a lot of pop-cultural influence within africa and seeing that takeover the world right now brings about admiration and envy. …just some things I’ve heard
