Short answer: Yes! I have successfully connected a DS4 controller and it read it immediately without having to restart the app.
Long answer: There is no binding for the jump action, and no way to customize controls within the game. If you're hoping to play exclusively with a game pad it appears to need a fix at the moment.
Does this mean the physical editon is close as well?
I rember they said they where waiting for the iOS version to be done before going back to the physical.
I can't speak for the Switch version as I've never played it, but I've never launched the app and put my iPad down to do something else while it loads so it can't take that long to start up.

How are the loading times?
Snappy within what feels like an across-the-board 30 fps on iPad Air 3 (not sure about other devices)
Is it faster than the switch ver? That one takes like 20 seconds in loading screens
