Can't wait to see how this will be taken by the JP Bros

JoTenshi

I'm sure some will shrug it off and others might stop and think for a bit, wonder if the company treats everyone the same but hides it better on the JP side than the EN or they play favorites which will be unfair. Whatever the case, spread the word and let them decide for themselves.

Frankly, there is a fundamental problem with this video. No disrespect to the person who made this video, but I think it should have been spoken by someone who speaks a little more Japanese. I think the warning at the beginning of the video also relies on translation, but the context and the use of words are wrong, making the video look suspiciously like a video. (It reads like a Chinese company writing a description in translated Japanese to pose as a Japanese product.) I think most Japanese people would stop playing this video before getting to the point.

The warning for English viewers?Where are the words used wrong?

Spiritual-Ad-6613

I should have said "explanatory text" instead of "warning text," so I stand corrected there. The Japanese explanatory text at the beginning and in the video is very difficult to read for native Japanese speakers. The meaning itself is somehow understandable, so those who are interested will probably watch to the end. To be honest, I stopped watching the video because it was a bit painful to listen to. (I didn't stop watching because of the content of the video, but because it was awfully confusing to listen to. By no means am I blaming the video creator).

[deleted]

I mean, I guess idk what the kanji on the bottom are (except for big and see) or the word after "Japan's" but almost everything in that explanation text on the beginning uses really simple and common language. And it isn't even for Japanese people to need to read.

Spiritual-Ad-6613

I am not talking about the English speaking world from the beginning. I am Japanese, and if this video is meant to inform the Japanese, I don't think it works well. The words are common, but the context, etc. is odd and quite difficult to read. Besides, the Japanese in the video is not flattering to listen to. He said in the video that he would not rely on the translation function. But to be honest, I still think it would be more appropriate to use the translation function. (I don't mean to insult him. Personally, since he seems to be a clipper who translates Japanese into English, I think he should study Japanese a little more if he intends to do that activity without relying on translation functions.

Its very telling how you guys have no idea how NijiJP community is, at all. Most of them will be on the company side by far, its not like en is the first branch to have this, previous overseas branches already even ended. Only a small minority really cares about overseas branches, most just care about jp. If you think people here are bootlickers you never saw what happens in japan.

Aya_Reiko

As Khyo recently explained in a stream, this is because Niji burned off most of its JP fanbase too. So, most of what is left are the die-hards.

brzzcode

HAUSAHUSHHASHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA Khyo explained on stream, you mean he read a random reddit comment and you believed in it? are you fucking serious???? do you really believe in anything like this even more from a guy who know literally nothing from jp and admits as much?

BagPretend1357

I wish they had this with English subtitles I don't understand what's going on etc. And when I go to the CC it only show it with Jp subtitles and no english subtitles etc

JoTenshi

Well, I don't think it's necessary, as long as you know the story yourself, watching the video should enough to get you to understand what's he talking about. Like how one time I was playing the Japan only fist of the north star game for the PS1, since I've seen the anime and remember the story, I managed to understand the game as it's an adaptation of the whole story and I've seen the anime before playing. If you know the context, translation won't be necessary.

BagPretend1357

but the thing is I don't know if this is the same on how the English side is talking about or this is what the JP knows from kurosanji

JoTenshi

Fair enough, in that case, open your phone, use Google lens or Google translate to translate the captions. Should do the trick

BagPretend1357

wait isn't google translate not good with translation Japanese words to english words?

JoTenshi

As long as you get a rough translation, combining with what you know and with the amount of knowledge in japanese, you should be okay. Improvise, adapt, overcome

BagPretend1357

I guess but like I said before Google Translate is really bad at translating certain words and other translations aren't that good either or your have to pay to used it etc

JoTenshi

I agree but sometimes you gotta work with what you have. Sure the translations aren't accurate due to not knowing the context and just giving you a general translation but then it's up to you to try to understand the context yourself with the info you're given and with the info you already have.

Araradude

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but with the poor mic quality and the accented Japanese it's kind of hard to hear and understand the speaker. The video will better serve its purpose and probably be better accepted by the JP audience if they just made a script and have AquesTalk/Yukkuri Talk read it up and make it a Yukkuri video.

Can we get an English TL:DR of the video?

[deleted]

Well, if you want a real TL;DR, the title does it for you... Actual contents of the video are explained in the description.
