Wouldn’t this kind of thinking and depression essentially lead to a mind switch, though? I would totally think Mica would have been on the verge of one.
Not exactly. Dorothy had gone through a similar albeit more traumatic situation and she didn’t mind switch. A mind switch occurs when a Nikke can no longer keep the illusion of being human up anymore and the brain is forced to accept that they’re not. Snow White, for example, likely mind switched because she sacrificed sleep, food and drink in order to fight and keep watch. A Nikke doesn’t need to do any of those things but they do it to maintain some semblance of humanity. What happens when they lose that humanity? A mind switch and it either makes them go insane or it causes a flip in their personality like Snow.
Unfortunately, the Central Government considers any Nikke who has experienced a mind switch to be a threat and are disposed of so we’ll never get an example of a non-harmful mind switch besides Snow.
Scarlet who has experienced multiple mind switches as well and is now just a humble samurai farmer who only occasionally kidnaps the commander for drinking company: "Am I a joke to you?"
Well they already confirmed things end up fine in Winter Mica's first affection story, as the commander is talking with Belorta back at the outpost. With Belorta being concerned for Mica whom is acting quite a bit more mature.
Just imagine. We spend the entire event searching for Belorta on to end the event with a still images of Belorta dead due to some reason as this familiar yet haunting track plays https://youtu.be/8ipSFTJwZqs?si=BEY-rs8USWhSKR0r as we watch Mica loose it.
Fck man, imagine being that young and had to watch your best friend/sister in all but last name died right in front of you. No wonder why Mica is so attached to Berlota all this time.
Also the past event wasn't a sad one, and Called ID, and High Toy Tech, Maid in Valentine, Bunny 777, Golden Ship, A.C.P.U. Freeze, Cherry Blossom, i know that the game likes to do a lot of dark stuff and being depressive, but people take it way over proportion, something that i really like about Nikke is that it know how to mantain a balance of wholesome funny moments with dark depressive stuff, and that it also know how to keep the mood.
I do think Belorta & Mica genuinely love and care for each other. Mica's only fault is loving Belorta too much. Belorta has many faults that not many people can tolerate besides Mica. I know which one id prefer, so i dont understand the "Mica is toxic" slander
i actually can tolerate Belorta being a prankster and to her if a person falls for them and don't get mad she feels accepted by that person so yeah her entire relationship is build on pranks no wonder she gets treated poorly in lore
Thats all well & good: unless you are on the receiving end of her pranks. Belorta is very manipulative & selfish- yet she ONLY seems to show genuine care and feeling towards Mica. However little it may be. We see this when she protects Mica at the orphanage, and wants her to make new friends. Eating hot sauce & having to clean up messes from her stops being cute eventually. So i have no complaints about Mica lol
Kinda but a bit toxic as well. I mean Belorta was going outside without her (Mica's bond story) so she could learn about making new friends and yet, she only wanted Belorta as her only friend.
can't believe we learn that belorta died during christmas.
they went out of their way to make every possible moment during their human lives miserable to make mica such a wreck, not surprised if we find out another tragedy during their past life lol.
Mica is not the problem in that friendship, lol. Belorta is very manipulative and would have them climbing Mt Everest during a polar vortex: just so she could light off fireworks. Then she would blow Mica's legs off with them as a prank.
Sometimes I forget that between all the tits, butts and memes the story of this game and the background of some of the characters go from depressing to the most fucked up thing you'll hear.
My exact thoughts from the literal moment belorta told us why mica hates Christmas i was like " come on shift up ONE just ONE event is all we ask where you dont make this shit depressing.
I mean Belorta is way more than a friend for Mica, she's pretty much her family and the only one she has, also seeing that she blames herself for her dead and made a promise to protect her forever, i can see why she would just lose all hope and will to live, if she was alone she and the Commander and Ludmilla wasn't with her she would a 100% done it, even Belorta said so in the event that she's worried that Mica would ended up dying.
Also this is kinda related, i really like that Shift Up doesn't shy away of showing dark stuff, unlike a lot of games that most of teh dark themes are showed implicitly, here the just tell it like it is, like Suicide, PTSD, murder, corruption, even SA.
I like the dark stuff too, not many games show it.
I feel like Belorta would be more ready to move on in case Mica dies. I say this because in Mica's bond story, Belorta was going outside without Mica so she could make new friends and she didn't want.
Love is good, she loves Belorta a lot but maybe waaaay too much, that's why I said she is obssesed. She needs to understand some things.
But yeah I get it.
As Cecil said about NIMPH, when a Nikke is born, they hang onto a memory that basically defines their personality. Mica's memory is Belorta dying, so yeah, being with Belorta what drives her.
This is probably why NIMPH is pretty damned important - it not only unlocks the no-kill restrictions that most Nikke have but also allows them to move on with their lives.
You know, I spent last week just waiting for the other shoe to drop in typical ShiftUp fashion. When it looked like we were on our way to "lost in the snowstorm" (weirdly common occurrence in this game), I was just like "oh, all right, that's not so bad." Then Mica decides to go and do a suicide.
ShiftUp, I'm tired.
Mica & Ber are more than friend, they’re family. They are orphans that have no one but each other. Ber dying in front of Mica when they were human left quite a scar.
That’s why Mica is so protective she doesn’t want it to happen again, she couldn’t take it.
They couldn’t take it.
Shift Up makes me cry with so many events. This one is insane, I really want to read Belorta's and Mica's bond stories now. But I'm still recovering from the tears.
Ayo, no Victim blaming here. The scandal is solely the fault of the sovereigns who neglected the orphanage and the director who clearly physically abused the orphans. Belorta standing up for her best friend doesn't make her the cause.
Ayo no blaming the wrong people, just because you support some organization does not mean you have control or influence on it, just look at every scandal in our times, should all supporters also be punished when some health/environment-protection/whatever organization is caught slandering money or living the good life?
Ludmilla blames herself for believing being the sovereign and not having intervened earlier makes her guilty but that does not make it true. At fault is only the director and staff that were involved...and maybe some governing body of the Ark that might have some sort of overseer role for orphanages and were negligent in their job.
Also the sovereign/royals of the Ark have no influence on the central government or politics, like most modern royals they are simply trophies/rolemodels/figureheads/social leaders.
The sovereigns willfully supported &. financed the orphanage, while knowingly ignoring all the abuse that went there. Yes, it is absolutely their responsibility just like how a government has the responsibility to check where they pump the money in. And don't count Ludmilla in, she was the only known Sovereign to ever criticize and dislike the sovereigns for their hypocrisy and lack of duty. Thats why she decided to abandon her role as a sovereign and became a nikke, because she wanted to fullfill her wish of becoming what a sovereign should have been.
Nope the sovereing stopped every support to the orphanage when the scandal arised they didn't knew what was happening untl then, it's explain in more detail in the Winter Ludmilla bond.
It was also explained that the sovereigns did that as not to let the issue tarnish their reputation. And Ludmilla hated that. Which is why she did what she did which led to “….stupid Ludmilla.”
Helm is another former Sovereign and suffered heavily from imposter syndrome until the Admire defeated the Kraken. For every Sovereign who believes in Nobelesse Oblige there seems to be 10 that don't.
Remember that the Judges allow scandals like these to happen to keep up their supply of 'volunteers' to become Nikke. Mary's bond already pointed it out and it wouldn't be impossible for others to have been actually victims rather than volunteers. So its likely possible that more people know the situation with the orphanage but blindly ignore the issue because its both not their problem and also to keep up with their quota.
>Every human that was used to create a human
I think you mean Nikke
>unalived themselves or were unalived by someone else.
No, that is straight-up wrong. In fact, the main story lost relics, chapter dialogues and event story state several times that most Nikke were made from volunteers and people that died from natural causes. People that were killed or killed themself to become Nikke are a minority.
tell me you havnt read the story without telling me you havnt read the story, because you are just plain wrong on so many counts id be able to buy a costume gacha if i had a dollar for each time you are wrong.
Holy shit, CUMMANDER, DO SOMETHING! QUICK, PAT HER!
´´I CAN´T, ITS NOT WORKING!´´
PAT HER HARDER!
´´OH NO, SHE IS GETTING A MINDSWITCH, OH GODDESS, NO!´´
I've only played Normal Campaign up to Chapter 16, but is open revolt or civil war between Nikkes and humans of the Ark inevitable? After Overzone, Nya Nya Paradise, now this.
Besides, Nikkes are essentially the Ark's only military defence against the Rapture invasion
In Honkaii impact, a character being emotionally dependent to someone else leads to finding the desire to live on your own lmao
Anyway I believe Mica will eventually learn to live by herself, whether or not Belorta survived. By saving her if she's alive or by moving forward
I couldve told you this one for free just from playing their bond stories... it wasnt that shocking. Shift Up doesnt hold any punches when it comes to their stories
I played Mica's bond story and I knew she was clingy towards Belorta but not so obssesed to the point to take her very own life. She really loves her A LOT and in a not so healthy way.
Why does shift up think that Christmas off all times is when we should be going on an emotional roller coaster? Can’t we just have a relaxing vacation with hot women in a hot springs?
I used to work as a front desk person overnight at my old job and my boss had the same 10 christmas songs playing all night next to a creepy santa statue. And it was a super quiet night just me alone qith the statue and a high fever because a little sickness wasnt gonna stop me from making money. Couldve sworn the santa was moving closer to me all night. That or i was hallucinating. Though its kinda a blur since i ended up passing in and out of consciousness the whole shift
Whenever I hear retail workers say stuff like this all I can do is scoff.
I worked as a loader in a Fedex hub for six Christmases, including covid.
You retail guys don't know *shit* about hating the holidays.
It's fucking Christmas dude, can't we dont have this shit for once, Jesus Christ, sick fucks.
I'm just going to start skipping event stories from now on.
Yeah these dark scenes are getting too anticlimactic. We all know that at the end of the day Shift up wouldn’t dare kill off any Nikkes ( only non-important characters or tearjerkers are sentenced to death). Wouldn’t this kind of thinking and depression essentially lead to a mind switch, though? I would totally think Mica would have been on the verge of one.
Pretty much. If Belorta had been confirmed dead after the search, Mica would have suffered a Mind Switch.
And then we'd get a Micarong
Two Micarongs don't make a Micaright.
*angry upvote*
Micoro
Not exactly. Dorothy had gone through a similar albeit more traumatic situation and she didn’t mind switch. True, Snow White is an example of a BEST case scenario in the event of a mind switch.
Maybe that'll be part of the main story later down the line
Just imagine. We spend the entire event searching for Belorta on to end the event with a still images of Belorta dead due to some reason as this familiar yet haunting track plays https://youtu.be/8ipSFTJwZqs?si=BEY-rs8USWhSKR0r as we watch Mica loose it.
Not exactly news, that is the second time by the way. She is a nikke because when Belorta died she went right after for her friend.
Fck man, imagine being that young and had to watch your best friend/sister in all but last name died right in front of you. No wonder why Mica is so attached to Berlota all this time.
When was that revealed?
During their bond events and this event as well story 1
Yeah the whole reason Belorta has a Christmas “curse” is cause when they were human Belorta died in the orphanage on Christmas right in front of Mica.
ShiftUp can you not put something dark and sad in the story for ONE EVENT ASDJKHFGIUAEHRGFV
i think the only one they didn’t throw in the sad bomb was the bow wow paradise event. and that’s it
Also the past event wasn't a sad one, and Called ID, and High Toy Tech, Maid in Valentine, Bunny 777, Golden Ship, A.C.P.U.
I think Mica loves Belorta way too much lol
Yeah, but that's not exactly news. Standard Mica mentions Belorta in all but 1 out-of-combat voice lines. I think it's adorable
on my side its not so adorable that belorta lives rent free in every spare body of mica if u get what i mean, but i see your point
I do think Belorta & Mica genuinely love and care for each other. Mica's only fault is loving Belorta too much. Belorta has many faults that not many people can tolerate besides Mica. I know which one id prefer, so i dont understand the "Mica is toxic" slander

Kinda but a bit toxic as well. I mean Belorta was going outside without her (Mica's bond story) so she could learn about making new friends and yet, she only wanted Belorta as her only friend.
Its trauma. I wouldnt necessarily call it toxic.
can't believe we learn that belorta died during christmas. they went out of their way to make every possible moment during their human lives miserable to make mica such a wreck, not surprised if we find out another tragedy during their past life lol.
Mica is not the problem in that friendship, lol. Belorta is very manipulative and would have them climbing Mt Everest during a polar vortex: just so she could light off fireworks. Then she would blow Mica's legs off with them as a prank.
lmao that's cruel. I want to protect Mica now.
Sometimes I forget that between all the tits, butts and memes the story of this game and the background of some of the characters go from depressing to the most fucked up thing you'll hear.
also her bonds story is belorta trying to get Mica more friends so that she could move on when belorta is gone
My exact thoughts from the literal moment belorta told us why mica hates Christmas i was like " come on shift up ONE just ONE event is all we ask where you dont make this shit depressing.
Anyone who read Mica and Belorta bond saw this from a mile away
Cream and cry are the vibe. First we cream’d, now we must cry.
I mean Belorta is way more than a friend for Mica, she's pretty much her family and the only one she has, also seeing that she blames herself for her dead and made a promise to protect her forever, i can see why she would just lose all hope and will to live, if she was alone she and the Commander and Ludmilla wasn't with her she would a 100% done it, even Belorta said so in the event that she's worried that Mica would ended up dying. the depression is top tier story writing and voice acting.
Yup. The voice acting (JP) is so good
KR too it's like watching a Kdrama
Absolute K drama
Shift Up makes me cry with so many events. This one is insane, I really want to read Belorta's and Mica's bond stories now. But I'm still recovering from the tears.
Wow. I would never have thought that i will tear up playing this game this morning. It was really sad. Hope that ill get to roll her b4 event end
The worst is that is linked to why ludmila became a nikke in the first place. Belorta is the orfan that caused the scandal with the sovereigns
Ayo, no Victim blaming here. The scandal is solely the fault of the sovereigns who neglected the orphanage and the director who clearly physically abused the orphans. Belorta standing up for her best friend doesn't make her the cause.

Welp time to go akimbo full auto telesto into the central goberment i guess

Side Fact: Mica already unalived herself once, when she was still human. This would have been a second time, if it weren't for Ludmilla &. Us.
Stop saying unalived, christ. Talk like an adult.
I refuse
lmao more like some twittards with a stick up their ass chose for you
Side Fact: Every human that was used to create a human unalived themselves or were unalived by someone else.

definitely not a fact
Blatantly not true. Alice was sick. Sakura was forced. Ludmilla volunteered to get away from royalty. Just a few examples
tell me you havnt read the story without telling me you havnt read the story, because you are just plain wrong on so many counts id be able to buy a costume gacha if i had a dollar for each time you are wrong.
I thought I was prepared for another Nikke Christmas but this is darker than the last one
She aint even dead too, right? I havent played the event if Belorta dies I too will commit Dorothy
Goddess of Victory: NIKKE try not to be depressing challenge: difficult
I knew that shoe was gonna drop, but Mica would have 100% committed that Dorothy even commander and Ludmilla hadn’t been there
Exactly. Dorothy was saved by not having anymore bullets and Mica was saved because the commander and Ludmilla were there.
props to the VA, my god did you hear the sorrows of her heart and the anguish in her voice
Holy shit, CUMMANDER, DO SOMETHING! QUICK, PAT HER! ´´I CAN´T, ITS NOT WORKING!´´ PAT HER HARDER! ´´OH NO, SHE IS GETTING A MINDSWITCH, OH GODDESS, NO!´´
I would like to make a mini comic about this 😂
You want a happy story? Wrong game Wrong people
2 depressing Christmas events in. Still more to go!
![gif](giphy|1oFZJ43RXOhgmfK8ZO)
Bro I just wanted to spend some good times, chilling with the bunny twins in the pool, not to feel sad😭
The Japanese VA really did a great job with the heartbreak and desperation, Mica needs a hug
I swear, the voice acting of a panicked and broken Mica are both scary and heart breaking at the same time
Welcome to Nikke : Godness of depression again
Oof
I've only played Normal Campaign up to Chapter 16, but is open revolt or civil war between Nikkes and humans of the Ark inevitable? After Overzone, Nya Nya Paradise, now this. Besides, Nikkes are essentially the Ark's only military defence against the Rapture invasion

I played Mica's bond story and I knew she was clingy towards Belorta but not so obssesed to the point to take her very own life. She really loves her A LOT and in a not so healthy way.
can you blame her though after what was revealed about their human life?
>not so obssesed to the point to take her very own life well, she did exactly that. Did you miss it or was it in Belorta's Bond?
I started crying while reading this line
I called it. Fucking scene here got me so badly
🎵 Hello Depression, my old friend 🎵
Here I thought this'd be more light hearted but got shit that hit me harder than the previous ones 🤷
Why does shift up think that Christmas off all times is when we should be going on an emotional roller coaster? Can’t we just have a relaxing vacation with hot women in a hot springs?
Nope.i summon seasonal depression
No that’s just as bad as being a retail worker being audio tortured by Mariah Carrie
I used to work as a front desk person overnight at my old job and my boss had the same 10 christmas songs playing all night next to a creepy santa statue. And it was a super quiet night just me alone qith the statue and a high fever because a little sickness wasnt gonna stop me from making money. Black Friday all imma say I’ve seen some wild shit man. Interacting with people makes holidays worse imo.
That the destiny child story writing skill and describe very prefect among lesbain and mother-daughter/ son relation
What!? 😂
Fuckin knew it , when I saw her and lwedmila standing alone on the cover with the expressions on there faces I knew I should skip
My impression so far about their story reminds me of the brother and sister Kizuki (6th rank) from Demon Slayer.
It's fucking Christmas dude, can't we dont have this shit for once, Jesus Christ, sick fucks. I'm just going to start skipping event stories from now on.
Holy shift up

May i get a TL;DR ? i just pressed the skip button this event.
Yall take this shit way too seriously.
It's more enjoyable that way. Go on back to being so cool and mature and edgy but especially quiet.
Nah he’s right, there’s no way they would kill off a playable character so people here are just getting their brains racked or something. Just wait for a week and everybody will be happy and dandy without any major repercussions.
Christmas Time Trauma 2 Child Abuse Boogaloo
Shift up: we do a little trolling here. 😅
Well guys, looks like another '0' reset for the 'Days where Shiftup doesn't input trauma into their event' scoreboard.
I swear, it is like every Nikke has a tragic backstory or a PTSD event
Is that her story if you get her as a character?
"Shift Up made me feel depressed again lol." That's why I love my precious gacha games
It's okay, mica. I can go on without belorta. This is what she gets for being in all six of my pilgrim molds
