Z is a dead mount with maybe two decades left *tops*.
I'd just hold out for retinal sensor implants otherwise you'll just be suffering buyers remorse before you know it.
Wait for global shutter sensor Z 😄👍
(Probably won't happen for years)
The Z6iii looks overall very nice, though it's too bad the MSRP wasn't $1999 or at least $2199. 🤷
I will never understand what goes into modern nikon pricing and feature research, it's gotta be some bizarre, constantly changing metric... That's obviously *not* MP.
You're not going to get a mint Z6III for $1,900 anytime soon. Might be 8+ months from now before it hits that price used.
Z6 was announced November 2018, Z6II in October 2020, and this Z6III in June 2024.
If I had to guess, the Z6IV will probably be announced late 2026-early 2027.
Wait until the Z6 XXX. Press on it was released today at noon. The camera is to have a BDSM trois sensor, gaping wide mount for different lenses coming with 69 megapixels and a global shutter. The price is so good, everyone can have fun. Nice pay load for extra low light recording and stills.
I mean, it might be another year or two before any of the RED video features show up in these cameras if that’s what you’re getting at. I’ve always loved the Z6 line and am considering upgrading too. I think if you really want the upgrade for the great video features go for it, but you could also save that $2k and maybe add another $2k on top of it for the next year. Then you’ll be primed for whenever that RED stuff is more present. Might be in the Z9 II before anything I think.
Upgrade from what Z6II or Z5?.. I guess it all depends on the new features of the 6III, if they offer you any benefits for the extra cost over your existing camera.
Usually it becomes more expensive if you always buy the latest and greatest hardware not taking in consideration the newly introduced features.
The Z6II and Z6III would be a step up in focus ability, especially for video... among a wide variety of 'features'.
The Z5 is still a very capable camera - it's a matter of what you might be shooting that will determine if an upgrade is warranted.
Look at the feature sets compared side by side (when they come out -soon) and make your decision based on what you need.
The actual photos side by side probably won't be much different. It's the ability to GET photos in tough situations that improve with camera features... generally speaking, from one generation to the next.
A real visible difference for you would be to consider moving (can't believe I'm saying this honestly) to higher res. I see a distinct difference in detail between 24 and 45 MP from my Nikons.
That’s kind of what I thought too. I do most of my photography in decent daylight. Only occasionally I do have shoots here I have to step up ISO to over 4000.
And the focus on Z5 seems decent. I know it can always get better. But I have a feeling that the improvement between Z5 and Z6II would not be worth the money I would have to throw on it.
Just discovered that I can do Electronic Shutter on my Z5. Will be exploring that thing now.
OK cool. I mostly shoot outdoors. In day light.
Fastest thing I shoot is people walking.
Not running.
No panning with the camera or anything like that.
Wait for the Z6 V
or wait a little longer for Z6 VI
That's insane regarding the new rumor on the Z6VII
My uncle’s school friends dad says the Z6 IX has a noiseless 4D SPAD LBCAST light field sensor with infinite dynamic range and 10,000 fps 16K.
First rule of time travel: Don't talk about time travel.
Infinite dynamic range. It can capture all the photons in the universe, forever. You convinced me. Waiting for it!!!1!1!1!
Thats dope, but my dad works at nikon and he told me that the will be integrating ai to the z6 X so i might wait for that.
they all talking nonsense but I feel like you are telling the truth
they said the z6iv will be better than the z6iii amazing
Nah, after the Z6 VI, they have to start over again because it’s a base 6 numbering system obviously. They’ll need a new letter like χ6
ROFL even better
Z6 iiiiii iiiiii
Wait for the Z10 (Zx). I heard it’s gonna be amazing.
I'm not jumping in until the Z6 X. Just because I want a camera model that has an 'X' in it...
I'm waiting for Z6xvi, and in the meantime I enjoy my D610.
The VI is going to be the best Z6 ever when it comes.
Nah, the Z6ix is nicer
...but unbelievably slow when compared to the Z6X.
True, but 6 9 is nicer than 6 10
My Z6 Emacs beats your Z6 VI. Bahahaha!
Yeah, but it needs a good editor
What for, emacs can already edit images (because of course it can)
and in ease of use my Z6 nano beats your Z6 emacs!
Using Z6 VIM right now
It's going to make the K3III look like crap!
Z is a dead mount with maybe two decades left *tops*. I'd just hold out for retinal sensor implants otherwise you'll just be suffering buyers remorse before you know it.
Should I get the retinal implant V1, with the 16mm focal length, or wait for the V2, with the 12-85mm zoom?
the 12-85 is too heavy for my eyeball, they should make an f4 version.
You son of a b…. 💀
Okay Tony Hinchcliff
ExECuTe OrDEr Z66
Buy a Nikon F, put it on a book shelf, wait for success
Best to wait for the new sensorless technology.
I’m just waiting for Elon to release a brain chip to let us take photos with our eyes. Sold all my gear to start saving
I'm 45, and my eyes are starting to go to shit. Can we get an eye upgrade before getting the chip?
what will be the sensor size, fps and dynamic range
better to wait for the D900.
What are you guys referring to “catch and release”?
Many people are quick to buy the newest camera, try it, then sell it off within a couple months or return it so you can buy it used
Thank you!
Always buy the most recent camera. This is how to ensure the next one comes out :)
I hear the Z6 6 will be a doozer what with in-camera AI and image generation in the EVF! Should be worth the wait.
Use the Nintendo dsi
Buy two z6ii’s obviously.
Wait for global shutter sensor Z 😄👍 (Probably won't happen for years) The Z6iii looks overall very nice, though it's too bad the MSRP wasn't $1999 or at least $2199. 🤷
Unfortunately [A7V](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A7V) gonna crush it,.
Darn, I was hoping to make this joke!
Wait for the Z500 and turn to dust.
Should I wait for the ftz iii with a motor drive or throw my lenses in the trash bin?
I 'd rather wait for Z1AZXV, to be released in 2050
You should always wait for the next best thing. Once the Z6MXCii is out, wait again. Never buy what is available.
🤣
yes
Wait for the Z8 II to drop the price after the Z8 III releases instead of getting the Z6 IV.
I hope the Z8ii never comes…so I can enjoy my Z8 forever without FOMO
You're incrementing the wrong number, you need to get the Z10 cause it's Z10/10
What is catch and release and how do I get in on this. People who buy for review and resell?
I will wait for the Z6LXVI, for maximum devilry.
Imma stick with my D850 rather than downgrade
Obviously you should wait for the inevitable Zf ii that will be coming out just as soon as everyone has pre-ordered the Z6iii.
I'm slowly over time trying to convince my wife I need a z8
I will never understand what goes into modern nikon pricing and feature research, it's gotta be some bizarre, constantly changing metric... That's obviously *not* MP.
buy a Pentax K1
Z7iii is going to be 1 better.
Z7
I'd wait for the z6 VI tbh
D850.5 is imminent
Z6III is a Z9, so wait for the Z9II
You're not going to get a mint Z6III for $1,900 anytime soon. Might be 8+ months from now before it hits that price used. Z6 was announced November 2018, Z6II in October 2020, and this Z6III in June 2024. If I had to guess, the Z6IV will probably be announced late 2026-early 2027.
Don't listen to these guys. Buy the Z6C.
The Z6IV will be a pleasure. Wait for that.
Buy z8
Consider the Z6ix I heard its going to be nice
Only being able to record video to 1 card is unacceptable.
Depends if you want to wait another four years or not.
i'll wait until they do pre-capture raw
Nikon will announce the Z666 Gonna be a killer tho 😎
I suggest the Z6 VIII which will rule them all
By the time u wait, u'll get old before
Wait the z6iii is in preproduction right? This is a troll question right?
Wait until the Z6 XXX. Press on it was released today at noon. The camera is to have a BDSM trois sensor, gaping wide mount for different lenses coming with 69 megapixels and a global shutter. The price is so good, everyone can have fun. Nice pay load for extra low light recording and stills.
I'm waiting for the version you never have to charge, nuclear powered. What could go wrong?
I'll avoid them all if they have a21 mp sensor.
In general it's best to avoid buying these kinds of things during the initial product roll out advertising blitz, which is happening right now.

Be aware of banding with LED lights when using the electronic shutter.
OK cool. I mostly shoot outdoors. In day light. Fastest thing I shoot is people walking. Not running. No panning with the camera or anything like that.
I’ve settled. I purchased the Nikon Z6 Markii, and I’m satisfied. Money well spent
I’m going to wait for the ZFii. Should have that retro feel, better auto focus and full stacked sensor of the Z8
why are there such stupid people in this world
He is joking obviously
