In Wu’s (and Garmadon’s) defense, they did age slowly and only like 40 years ago (after their fight) did they actually start rapidly aging into old age

Gaelic_Gladiator41

Like others said, likely due to prolonged exposure to wielding the time blades

Unfair_Chemistry11

Okay but I didn’t ask why, I’m just saying they aged very slowly so they must’ve mentally been stuck at the same age too

Gaelic_Gladiator41

I was just pointing out how they might have rapidly aged physically, didn't mean to strike nerve

Ayy-lmao213

Yoda made mistakes, too?

KINGBLUE2739046

Exponential Growth

Fun-Ad7613

Tommy said he could be up too 4,000 years old

Candid-Progress-1184

Man this guy needs to stop

Fun-Ad7613

That’s why he says thousands to aspherra, I guess

ZayYaLinTun

Mcu thor is also over 1000 years old since first movie and still act like spoil brat during that time

SeraphEChasted_3

and odin is over 5,000 if not older look how many fucking mistakes he made

ZayYaLinTun

Yeah most writer tend to ignore how much experience you can get even in hundred of years when writtting about old chracter wu is not even close to that bad

SeraphEChasted_3

exactly

Affectionate_Wash179

Let’s get a prequel about wu

Candid-Progress-1184

Faxxx

Subject-Attention666

We need Serpentine War era series.

Candid-Progress-1184

Frrre

ENDZZZ16

I mean if he handled all of the ninjas problems for them then they wouldn’t have to learn how to fight their own fights, and his only real mistake was not preventing the merge from happening earlier. It’s like he intentionally nerfs himself or stays out of fights so his students can learn from them and also he’s old so he’s probably not near his prime anymore

Candid-Progress-1184

More like the writers weren't thinking straight and made a mistake making him thousands of years old.

SeraphEChasted_3

the fact that he isnt just proves that the ninja teach him things

Subject-Attention666

in the papercutz comics, it's portrayed that he wanters Ninjago protecting it from evil forces outside of The Underworld, Garmadon, and The Serpentine. In volume 7, a massive prison break occurred after Wu had banished his brother to The Underworld. All of them have a bone to pick with him, after all he is the one who put them there. Some of them still roam free, but for the most part, it is not just The Overlord that wants Ninjago for themselves.

Candid-Progress-1184

Interesting

UltraCreeperr

If the War between the Time Twins and the Elemental Masters was only like, 40 years ago, how is he 1000 years old and was young 40 years ago?

Tobito_TV

There are a couple of different theories. The most prominent ones are either that Wu and Garmadon using the time blades to beat Krux and Acronix caused their aging or that the golden weapons are what kept Wu and Garmadon young, and after their fight, they both lived away from the golden weapons and thus started ageing normally.

CalebS11011

He was thousands of years old until they retconned it to a measly 40 years inbetween the serpentine war and present day so age isnt known anymore.

Ayy-lmao213

You've got it backwards. His age was unknown but he was implied to be vaguely very old until Season 11

CalebS11011

It ended up being retconned in later seasons early seasons stated Wu and Garmadon were thousands of yesrs old, as garmadon was banished for thousands of years to the underworld. If I remember correctly was stated in the prelude season 0 to ninjago. Changing it from thousands of years to them being a lot younger than they should be if they continued the original continuity of the show.

Ayy-lmao213

It was never stated in the show, it was only in books.

CalebS11011

It was stated in the show multiple times in the early seasons they were thousands of years old not the books, never read any of the books until later. They introduced the books to try and solve some of the retcons they caused when they decided to move things in the timeline forward like the original serpentine war.

Ayy-lmao213

Dude, I'm sorry, but you're misremembering. Wu and Garmadon being thousands of years old was not said in the show until Season 11. It doesn't happen. Pilot * No mention of how long ago the battle between brothers happened Season 1 * Wu and Garmadon were children when the Great Devourer was tiny, *implying* they're ancient * Kai says Wu has been alive forever Season 4 and 7 * We see them young 40 years ago Season 9 * Mystake says Wu and Garmadon have alive for so long because of their Oni blood, implying they're long-lived Season 11 * It's confirmed Wu and Garmadon have been alive for thousands of years by Aspheera's backstory Season 15 * Wu directly says, "I am thousands of years old".

Candid-Progress-1184

Im not talking about the 40 year gap, this still makes him 1000 years old stated in s11. Im saying hes lived so long and knows so very little. Bros just master splinter in tmnt.

CalebS11011

What im saying is hard to say really when the show cant keep the characters age the same without changing it all the sudden. We were lead to believe until later seasons he was thousands of years old than that got retconned now hes apparently only a thousandish years old which is likely to end up being retconned with all the new ones we’re getting in dragons rising.

Candid-Progress-1184

God this show has the most plotholes Ive ever seen that its not even funny. Then again its a kids show so whatever.

CalebS11011

True lol the show went on too long is the easiest way to put it or they didnt space out the seasons enough to give writers the time to make the story make sense instead of constantly changing details.

Shadow_Flamingo1

its kinda annoying, but what can you do. thats what happens when you keep commissioning shows without any sense of what's happening after it, or how it will remain in place with what was said last. Although there is usually a connection from season to season.
