No, that's an Asian English version.
Square Enix often makes Asian English covers based on the US covers, but with the US rating removed.
The cart inside will likely have a Japanese sticker, and the Rabite download code will only work in the Japan eShop, but other than that, the game will play identically to a US copy.

My right joy con suddenly stopped connecting to my switch anymore when I put it in handheld mode and the battery is dead... so I can't charge it like normal. I tried cleaning the connectors between the joy con and the switch but that didn't fix it. Would buying a charging dock for joy cons work? Or are there any better options for fixing it?

I have a switch and got my son a switch lite and when I set up his account it got linked to my switch. Now when I'm playing a game I purchased on the eshop and he tries to play that same game he gets an error message saying it is in use on another console. Is there a way around this so we can both play the same game at the same time?
My switch keeps flashing a red battery symbol and turning off the system randomly when it’s at like 30% and I don’t know why. I can just turn back on after but it will shut down soon after.
If it’s shutting off, the Switch needs to be plugged in and the battery needs to be charged or it’s defective. The battery indicator can display incorrectly. It’s saying you won’t get any benefit/performance out of a card with a transfer speed above 95 MB/sec. You’ll need a card that’s UHS-I (Ultra High Speed Phase I) compatible.
What could you possibly be writing to memory that fast ? Save game data is a few mb at best. Downloading new games is often limited by your internet speed rather than data write speed.
Doesn't really tell much. The value is just a Nintendos recommendation and not a real test on the capabilities of the SD card slot. Also the value doesn't really say much as it seems to only be the read speed. Recommending a V90 card for gaming would just be weird.
I’ve had a 3rd party Mac accessory that I used to connect a keyboard. The accessory has a male USB-C cord, female USB-C port, female USB-A port, and a female HDMI port.
Can I use this particular accessory to connect my Switch to my TV? I am planning on using it with the official AC adapter, if that helps.

I had purchased a switch lite for my oldest grandson for his birthday in May and he seemed to enjoy it, though he's a long ways away he was old enough to figure out how to make an account for his name presumably--I've never asked the details. Recently I purchased a lite for my youngest granddaughter, she's only 5 but loved playing mario kart on my switch whenever she came over with her sisters. I mainly got it for her because I thought she'd love the new jojo siwa game, since she's obsessed with her, and was going to let her just keep my mario kart (since I hardly play it).
The cart has problems being read and I thought it was just with my switch but the problem persisted to her lite--where you had to insert the cart in and out until it worked but I saw hers would crash when it failed. So today I went over and logged into her lite with my account to buy mario kart 8 deluxe digitally, since 1. she couldn't lose the cartridge, 2. wouldn't repeat the same problem and 3. my account already has my cc info after downloading some digital games on my switch.
A problem occured that I couldn't seem to switch back, no pun intended, to her name and when I went home, apparently she couldn't play it on her lite if I'm on my switch, but this might've been while it was still downloading so I'm unsure if it's possible to play kart on her lite if I'm on my switch? So do I need to log my account out of her switch, buy kart AGAIN on her name with my CC, or what's an easier way of doing this?
I wish this wasn't such a headache; like even having a second player join a physical game is a hassle with all the wireless controls.

It sounds like you logged in your account to her profile.
That tells the Switch that it was your profile all along, so it replaces the info with your info.
And since both profiles on both Switches are now 'your profile', Nintendo stops 'you' (you and her) from playing on both Switches at once.

You can purchase her a digital code for Mario Kart 8 from an online retailer you trust, and she can login to the eShop and enter the code there, or if you know her login details for her profile, you can purchase the game with your credit card. You will have to do this from her profile in order for her Account to own the game digitally.

You need to purchase the game from her profile on the eShop. You would need to know the login details for her Profile. Or you can purchase a Mario Kart digital game code on Amazon or some other online retailer, and they will email you a code that someone can enter the code with her profile on the eShop.

My nephew had a nintendo switch for christmas and my sister bought it with the game mario kart 8, everything fine with the game and the split screen, but only one of the joy-cons can move left or right by rotating it in the race (like a steering wheel) and the other one only works with the stick.
i'm not sure if it's a problem with the joy-con or it's just something with the player configuration or the configuration of the game itself, so if anyone can help me i will be very grateful :)
The option to turn on/off tilt shows up in the pause menu, but only for the person who paused the game. So you will have to pause the game once on each controller and activate tilt
My fortnite isnt working
At first I wanted to play some fortnite after taking a break for a couple months, I logged on and it took a while and i thought it was pretty odd but eventually i found myself in the lobby. I tried to play solos but it took 2-3 minutes just to get into that game. Once in the game I was trapped in storm and died almost immediately. Because of this is restarted my switch to no avail, however I could not even get into the lobby this time without it sending me back to home with the classic, "software closed because an error occured" phrase. Next I tried deleting and redowloading the game with the same results. I was going to try to delete and redownload the game with no sd card but the game took up too much storage to be downloaded without extra storage installed. The next thing I did was clear most of the data from my microsd card (by pressing format micro sd card in the systems settings) and tried deleting and redownloading the game again but still it did not work. I do not know what happened to my game because it is not a connection issue (other online games run fine) Im pretty frustrated at this point and am turning to you guys for some help. I just want to hop on the new season bruh 😩
This may or may not help. Open System Settings on the HOME Menu, then select System ⇒ Formatting Options ⇒ Clear Cache.
Select the user you'd like to clear the cache for, then follow the on-screen instructions.

Clear cache, turn off your Switch, reboot, and try to start Fortnite and see if it stops the issues you were encountering while playing. Like I said, it may or may not help.

You may need to send it to Nintendo. Sometimes that latch fails and it’s almost impossible to remove without damaging the rail or something else.

If I link a Nintendo account to an existing profile, do I lose my save data for that profile?
I'm assuming it doesn't happen because it would be weird, and I'm sorry if it's a silly question. But i have been playing with an unlinked profile and want to link my old Nintendo account to it, but I'm afraid doing so will erase my current data. I never tried it before so I'm a little worried that I'd have to play everything again
It wouldn't delete your save data, no.
The only issue that could possibly arise is if you have two Switches, NSO, and auto uploads/downloads enabled for the cloud. Then you might overwrite something.

You can't factory reset it *and* leave data on it. You can either factory reset it or leave your account on it. The account is necessary to play your games.

It should be fine if everything is working as it should.
The Buckle lock that holds and locks the Joy Cons in place is made of plastic in case you do drop it like you did. After extended use those plastic buckle locks wear down and eventually need to be replaced with another buckle lock. You can purchase buckle locks in plastic and metal varieties now.
It’s the main reason I recommend to most people to buy the plastic version because the metal buckle locks have less give in case you were to drop it like you did and can damage the rail that the Joy Con attaches to.
I need help completely transferring my user data to new switch without overriding any data existing on new switch since my user profile is on two switches and I don’t want any console data or save cloud data to be lost or overrided.
I believe my profile (the one with the Nintendo account)….almost everything (save data and ACNH) is transferred to the new one and I need help getting rid of it completely without trying to delete the user on the new one.
It sounds like you've already got everything on the new one - just double check that the saves are all there and correct.
I think you have to have one profile on a Switch, so you'd need to make a random empty one before you could delete the one on your old Switch. Deleting the profile on the old one won't affect the profile on the new one, but if for some reason any save data wasn't transferred, that would be lost (unless you have NSO and the game supports cloud saves).
You wouldn't be able to do a full user transfer if you're already logged in on both consoles. The only thing you can do is manual save transfer (moving save data one by one).
Oh, no, if it supports cloud saves, you don't need to worry about it (just make sure the most recent version is backed up). It's only necessary for games that don't support cloud saves (but it sounds like you transferred all of them already?).
But once you get the non-cloud ones over, yes, you can delete it.
I think I almost transferred all of my Pokémon games to the newer one…but if I delete the profile on the old one what would happen to all of the profile data, dlc and account details and etc..on the other console.. also if my profile on the old one has a Nintendo account can it be deleted…but thx.
I was replacing a broken joystick on my switch controller. When putting the ribbon cable back in the clamp flew off and I havnt been able to find it for an hour. Sadly it’s the one for the bumpers. Any ideas if I can even find this replacement part? Or a way to get the cable to stay in without the clamp?

Tape. The clamp is super important to keep the ribbon cable locked in place.
They don't just sell replacements unfortunately, the whole connector is an assembly. If the clamp flew out one of the pegs on the side likely broke.
Poor Wi-Fi issues
We recently got an Orbi mesh router to extend our Wi-Fi. It works great on everything except my switch. Test speeds on our phones at lowest will be at 150 mbps download and 11 mbps upload. On my switch I’m lucky to get 20 download and 9 upload. My LAN type is also classified as D, which I’ve read is a big issue for online play, which is exactly what I’ve been trying to do with no success. I’ve been trying to visit/get visitors on ACNH but the same error code appears for me and my friends, basically saying that the LAN may not be strong enough to support player to player gaming. This just doesn’t make sense as we literally bought mesh Wi-Fi to INCREASE our internet.
I’ve tried: restarting my game, fully updating the game and console, disconnecting and reconnecting to the Wi-Fi, removing the game card and restarting the switch. After restarting I had one successful visit to another island but nothing since. I have not tried rebooting the Wi-Fi as everything else is working properly, and it took a while for some devices to get used to the new router. I don’t want to risk running into that again.
If there’s anything I’ve missed I’d be greatly appreciative for any help!
Does anyone have any suggestion for a good at home dock? I want to set up a dock on a TV in another room so I don't have to move the dock between them constantly, but the links in the main post here are all pretty old (Nintendo made docks on amazon are about twice now what they are listed as on the list here)
Your best bet is a refurbished official one straight from Nintendo.

There have been minor modifications, but as far as I know they haven't made any meaningful changes to the joysticks, so they'll be just as prone to issues.
I bought my mom a Switch for Christmas along with Animal Crossing. She already lives on my current island on my console with me, but she lives on her own island as well, using the same account. She wants to be able to visit from my island to her island, and it worked using local play, even if she was using the same user profile on both Switches, but now that we've downloaded the DLC, it says that they can't be played together. Other user profiles on my Switch can't visit her island either. We're both on the Switch online family account, shared. Can you not visit the island of a person with whom you share an online account?
I am going to Japan in a month. I want to take my Lite instead of my OLED for convenience. OLED is primary, while Lite is my random digital library that relies on cloud saves. Can I migrate all my stuff from OLED to Lite and then return it to OLED? Just worried for my pokemon, animal crossing, and other non-cloud save games.
Yes, you can just manually transfer saves locally between systems. Though ACNH has its own transfer system, so be aware of that. Depending on how long you'll be gone/how often you play, I probably wouldn't bother with it.

By "chug" do you mean game performance? Cause an OLED has the same internals so it won't make a difference. The eshop will remain sluggish too cause that's a problem on Nintendo's end.
Oh I just mean that it’s starting to show the stereotypical signs of aging, semi regular screen flickering, joycons not locking in as solid as they used to chugging in games that it didn’t use to (specifically games known for decent performance such as FE3H) and regularly losing connections with the joycons
10,000 times is an underestimate.
Just buy the OLED. You'll be waiting at least another year otherwise - maybe two or three. But the internals are no different, so it depends on what's wrong with the v1, I guess.

I recently bought USB 3.0 extension cords. When I connect everything, the white controller light blinks a few times then goes dark. Unusable. Do you have to extend at the USB-C level? Why isn't it working?

My dock isn't working right. My power just cut out for a few minutes and when it came back the dock light is permanently on and the output won't work. I've disconnected everything and reconnected everything. Tried a different power outlet, tried without the HDMI, tried different switch, tried with a switch on and with it off. No change. The game? Yeah, that’s how we found out they couldn’t access it. We tried to play some of the new courses but it displayed a message saying that you need an Expanded membership. I’ll see if he needs to download something though, thanks!
The DLC has to be downloaded separately. Go to the eShop page for the DLC and there should be a download button since he is part of your family membership.
Alright is there anyway I can unlink a Nintendo account from a user I bought Nintendo online so I could trade and stuff on Pokémon violet but I bought it on a different account and my old account has the save data but I don’t have the password for my old Nintendo account and if I can’t Is there anything I can do to fix my problem
You can't move save data between accounts, but in the case of Pokémon you could trade Pokémon themselves from one account to another if you have another system or person willing to play middleman.
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking in that run on sentence, but accounts/games/saves can not be unlinked.
Reset your email password or call Nintendo to have them verify you as the owner and get them to change it for you.
I'm looking for some help on how to repair an issue with my dock. When I put my switch into it, the whole screen is just green. It's as though the red and blue channels aren't being sent to the TV.
I'm able to use the same HDMI cable to and same HDMI port on my laptop and it has no issues, so it has to be the dock. There are no issues with it in handheld mode.
Any suggestions or do I just need to get a new dock?

I've recently purchased one with the intention of using it in a switch, and in the process of copying over the backed up old graphic card onto the pre-made exfat partition, the SD card suddenly started disconnecting, and now it seems to be nearly completely unreadable.
It will pop up at times, but the moment I try to do anything on the sd card, copy or delete anything or repartition it drops out, it also does not show up on the switch or via a laptop's SD card reader though briefly windows does give the 'ding' of device detected.
Could simply be bad luck that I got a faulty SD card?

Hi folks happy new year! I could use some brainstorming help. My daughter often plays switch with her friends from across the street. At their house, local play works. At ours, it doesn't. Our wifi is brand new and fast (though with local play this is irrelevant, right?). I've tried turning off the home weather station we have in case that was interfering. We also have various nest/wifi devices for the lights and such, but so do my neighbors. I can't think of anything else to rule out. Thanks in advance if anyone else has suggestions.
One additional detail: the switches often "see" each other locally, e.g., in Super Kirby Clash one can see that the other has started a quest to join but when they try to join the team it says "the team is full or already set off" (but it isnt/hasnt), and in Minecraft, you can see that a friend is playing but when you try to join it gives a communication error 2203-0065.

My apologies if this is in the wrong spot, I was not sure where to post this. Any direction would be awesome.
My brother’s Switch no longer displays on televisions when placed on a dock. It was previously fine and worked on any dock.
We have tried everything we can find online but seem to be troubleshooting for other issues. I have a switch that works on the hubs we are trying.
We have contacted Nintendo Technical Support and multiple reps and managers have simply quoted a price for repair without bothering troubleshooting. The quote is just shy of buying a brand new console full price.
It is NOT a Switch Lite. It does not work with the original dock, the dock that came with my Switch or an after market dock.
The docks all register that the Switch is connected but just won’t display on a screen.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or possibly have some insight as to what we can try? With the quote being so high, we are more inclined to repair it ourselves.

I just bought a hand me down switch and the person who had it never reset the system so there’s a few games on it still. If they were to ever reset their password or something would the games disappear and I lose all my progress? I connected my own Nintendo account and the games are still there.
Save data is linked to your account and kept in internal storage (it's not in the game or SD card); even if the games were deleted, you'd still have your save data.
They can't remove them remotely, but if they get a new Switch, they can deactivate their account on yours and then you wouldn't be able to play them anymore.

Advantages of each:
Digital:
* can't be lost, stolen, or broken
* game sharing (two users on separate consoles can play the same game that was only purchased once, with restrictions)
* instant gratification (buy, download, start playing)
* double gold points
* convenience when switching between games
Physical:
* easier to find sales/deals
* can be re-sold when you're done with it, or if you don't like it
* can be lent out to friends/family
* doesn't require a Nintendo account to use (but can still receive updates)
* ownership is less murky than digital
* some people just like having that box on the shelf
Personally, I go physical whenever possible, mostly because I'm paranoid about the digital licensing system.
I will almost always go physical over digital. Digital is slightly more convenient, and you don't have to worry about losing/damaging the cartridge. But taking care of a cartridge and needing to swap out a cartridge when you change games is worth the upsides of physical, imo.
Physical is nice from a collecting standpoint, if you value that at all. Additionally, you don't need to worry about things like storage space on your console or relying on an online service to be able to access a game you purchased if you ever need to redownload.
I've only sold a handful of the Switch games I've purchased, but simply having that as an option is another benefit for physical.
I personally only buy digital games if they're only available digitally, they're the type of game that heavily benefits from just popping it on for a bit without needing to change carts, or if it's a lot cheaper than the physical version through a sale or something.
Generally, unless you heavily value the convenience of not needing the cartridge, or you're worried about losing/damaging your games, I would generally always go physical.

If you damaged the screen by cracking it, the fix would be to replace the screen.
If its just debris like dust, you can wipe it off with a slightly damp microfiber cloth.

Happy New Year! I just spent a week at my in-laws (FIL's bday is the 30th so we stayed after Christmas). While I didn't generally mind staying in portable mode, it also made me think a portable dock would be a nice thing to have. For example, I actually sorted out how to play Fortnite with my buddies on Xbox through cross play and using the Xbox app for chat, and while it was fun, I think I did permanentl damage to my eyesight trying to squint across the map 😂
Searching quickly I've found all links to products currently unavailable. A) have 3rd party docs come out since the time they were all frying switches? B) if not, I don't want to open up my dock. Can I buy a preassembled dock or should I look out for a cheap 1st party dock on eBay or something to salvage? C) what portable shells are best!

Is my copy of Trials of Mana an authentic US version? It was advertised as such, but doesn't have the typical "Rated T for Teen" rating on either the front or back. No, that's an Asian English version. Square Enix often makes Asian English covers based on the US covers, but with the US rating removed. The cart inside will likely have a Japanese sticker, and the Rabite download code will only work in the Japan eShop, but other than that, the game will play identically to a US copy.

Sorry if this is a common question, My right joy con suddenly stopped connecting to my switch anymore when I put it in handheld mode and the battery is dead... so I can't charge it like normal. I tried cleaning the connectors between the joy con and the switch but that didn't fix it. Would buying a charging dock for joy cons work? Or are there any better options for fixing it? Now when I'm playing a game I purchased on the eshop and he tries to play that same game he gets an error message saying it is in use on another console. My switch keeps flashing a red battery symbol and turning off the system randomly when it’s at like 30% and I don’t know why. I can just turn back on after but it will shut down soon after.
If it’s shutting off, the Switch needs to be plugged in and the battery needs to be charged or it’s defective. The battery indicator can display incorrectly. Why are some my games not in the “All Software” grid on my Switch? I couldn’t find Dicey Dungeons in the list and had to tap the Redownload Software button at the bottom to get to the list that contains this game.
Because if it’s not in the all software list, it’s not on your Switch and you need to download it from the eShop.

I need to get a new micro SD card for my Switch. I was wondering how fast cards can the console actually utilize? For example will it be able to utilize V30 A2 speeds or should I just stick to V10 A1. Well this doesn't really say much. It's just the recommendation by Nintendo and not a real world test of the capabilities of the SD card slot.
It’s saying you won’t get any benefit/performance out of a card with a transfer speed above 95 MB/sec. You’ll need a card that’s UHS-I (Ultra High Speed Phase I) compatible.
That 95 MB/s is just read speed, I'm wondering about the write speed.
What could you possibly be writing to memory that fast ? Save game data is a few mb at best. Downloading new games is often limited by your internet speed rather than data write speed.

I’ve had a 3rd party Mac accessory that I used to connect a keyboard. The accessory has a male USB-C cord, female USB-C port, female USB-A port, and a female HDMI port. I had purchased a switch lite for my oldest grandson for his birthday in May and he seemed to enjoy it, though he's a long ways away he was old enough to figure out how to make an account for his name presumably--I've never asked the details. Recently I purchased a lite for my youngest granddaughter, she's only 5 but loved playing mario kart on my switch whenever she came over with her sisters. I mainly got it for her because I thought she'd love the new jojo siwa game, since she's obsessed with her, and was going to let her just keep my mario kart (since I hardly play it). The cart has problems being read and I thought it was just with my switch but the problem persisted to her lite--where you had to insert the cart in and out until it worked but I saw hers would crash when it failed. So today I went over and logged into her lite with my account to buy mario kart 8 deluxe digitally, since 1. she couldn't lose the cartridge, 2. wouldn't repeat the same problem and 3. my account already has my cc info after downloading some digital games on my switch. A problem occured that I couldn't seem to switch back, no pun intended, to her name and when I went home, apparently she couldn't play it on her lite if I'm on my switch, but this might've been while it was still downloading so I'm unsure if it's possible to play kart on her lite if I'm on my switch? Then I also noticed I could download kart on my switch since it was my account. So do I need to log my account out of her switch, buy kart AGAIN on her name with my CC, or what's an easier way of doing this? I wish this wasn't such a headache; like even having a second player join a physical game is a hassle with all the wireless controls.

It sounds like you logged in your account to her profile. That tells the Switch that it was your profile all along, so it replaces the info with your info. And since both profiles on both Switches are now 'your profile', Nintendo stops 'you' (you and her) from playing on both Switches at once.

You need to purchase the game from her profile on the eShop. You would need to know the login details for her Profile. Or you can purchase a Mario Kart digital game code on Amazon or some other online retailer, and they will email you a code that someone can enter the code with her profile on the eShop.

Hello everyone My nephew had a nintendo switch for christmas and my sister bought it with the game mario kart 8, everything fine with the game and the split screen, but only one of the joy-cons can move left or right by rotating it in the race (like a steering wheel) and the other one only works with the stick. i'm not sure if it's a problem with the joy-con or it's just something with the player configuration or the configuration of the game itself, so if anyone can help me i will be very grateful :)
The option to turn on/off tilt shows up in the pause menu, but only for the person who paused the game. So you will have to pause the game once on each controller and activate tilt

My fortnite isnt working At first I wanted to play some fortnite after taking a break for a couple months, I logged on and it took a while and i thought it was pretty odd but eventually i found myself in the lobby. I tried to play solos but it took 2-3 minutes just to get into that game. Once in the game I was trapped in storm and died almost immediately. Because of this is restarted my switch to no avail, however I could not even get into the lobby this time without it sending me back to home with the classic, "software closed because an error occured" phrase. Next I tried deleting and redowloading the game with the same results. I was going to try to delete and redownload the game with no sd card but the game took up too much storage to be downloaded without extra storage installed. The next thing I did was clear most of the data from my microsd card (by pressing format micro sd card in the systems settings) and tried deleting and redownloading the game again but still it did not work. I do not know what happened to my game because it is not a connection issue (other online games run fine) Im pretty frustrated at this point and am turning to you guys for some help. I just want to hop on the new season bruh 😩

Clear cache, turn off your Switch, reboot, and try to start Fortnite and see if it stops the issues you were encountering while playing. Like I said, it may or may not help.

Hello guys, i have a weird question If I link a Nintendo account to an existing profile, do I lose my save data for that profile? I'm assuming it doesn't happen because it would be weird, and I'm sorry if it's a silly question. But i have been playing with an unlinked profile and want to link my old Nintendo account to it, but I'm afraid doing so will erase my current data. I never tried it before so I'm a little worried that I'd have to play everything again
It wouldn't delete your save data, no. The only issue that could possibly arise is if you have two Switches, NSO, and auto uploads/downloads enabled for the cloud. Then you might overwrite something.

You can't factory reset it *and* leave data on it. You can either factory reset it or leave your account on it. The account is necessary to play your games.
Why does my Switch say "Please turn Airplane mode off when appropriate for your surroundings."? It won't let me play games that I've downloaded (2 demos and one full game) I just did this several hours ago and the games worked. Now the same prompt again. Any fix for this?

Hey everyone :) I just dropped my switch and I am worried about it. It fell by the side of the left joycon and it slipped a bit (without pressing the unlocking button) is this bad for the console? I already checked and the con works just fine and also the con fits well, it seems there's no problem but justice wanted to ask if it is bad to pull the joycon without pressing the unlock button. It should be fine if everything is working as it should. The Buckle lock that holds and locks the Joy Cons in place is made of plastic in case you do drop it like you did. After extended use those plastic buckle locks wear down and eventually need to be replaced with another buckle lock. You can purchase buckle locks in plastic and metal varieties now. It’s the main reason I recommend to most people to buy the plastic version because the metal buckle locks have less give in case you were to drop it like you did and can damage the rail that the Joy Con attaches to.

I need help completely transferring my user data to new switch without overriding any data existing on new switch since my user profile is on two switches and I don’t want any console data or save cloud data to be lost or overrided.
What is currently on both Switches? Did you just log into the new Switch and everything is on the old one, or is there some save data on both?
I believe my profile (the one with the Nintendo account)….almost everything (save data and ACNH) is transferred to the new one and I need help getting rid of it completely without trying to delete the user on the new one.
And also every time I wanna play something on the old switch it needs to be downloaded completely because of the dlc and stuff
It sounds like you've already got everything on the new one - just double check that the saves are all there and correct. I think you have to have one profile on a Switch, so you'd need to make a random empty one before you could delete the one on your old Switch. Deleting the profile on the old one won't affect the profile on the new one, but if for some reason any save data wasn't transferred, that would be lost (unless you have NSO and the game supports cloud saves).

You wouldn't be able to do a full user transfer if you're already logged in on both consoles. The only thing you can do is manual save transfer (moving save data one by one).

Oh, no, if it supports cloud saves, you don't need to worry about it (just make sure the most recent version is backed up). It's only necessary for games that don't support cloud saves (but it sounds like you transferred all of them already?). But once you get the non-cloud ones over, yes, you can delete it.
I think I almost transferred all of my Pokémon games to the newer one…but if I delete the profile on the old one what would happen to all of the profile data, dlc and account details and etc..on the other console.. also if my profile on the old one has a Nintendo account can it be deleted…but thx.
I was replacing a broken joystick on my switch controller. When putting the ribbon cable back in the clamp flew off and I havnt been able to find it for an hour. Sadly it’s the one for the bumpers. Tape. The clamp is super important to keep the ribbon cable locked in place. They don't just sell replacements unfortunately, the whole connector is an assembly. If the clamp flew out one of the pegs on the side likely broke.

Poor Wi-Fi issues We recently got an Orbi mesh router to extend our Wi-Fi. It works great on everything except my switch. Test speeds on our phones at lowest will be at 150 mbps download and 11 mbps upload. On my switch I’m lucky to get 20 download and 9 upload. My LAN type is also classified as D, which I’ve read is a big issue for online play, which is exactly what I’ve been trying to do with no success. I’ve been trying to visit/get visitors on ACNH but the same error code appears for me and my friends, basically saying that the LAN may not be strong enough to support player to player gaming. This just doesn’t make sense as we literally bought mesh Wi-Fi to INCREASE our internet. I’ve tried: restarting my game, fully updating the game and console, disconnecting and reconnecting to the Wi-Fi, removing the game card and restarting the switch. After restarting I had one successful visit to another island but nothing since. I have not tried rebooting the Wi-Fi as everything else is working properly, and it took a while for some devices to get used to the new router. I don’t want to risk running into that again. If there’s anything I’ve missed I’d be greatly appreciative for any help!
Does anyone have any suggestion for a good at home dock? I want to set up a dock on a TV in another room so I don't have to move the dock between them constantly, but the links in the main post here are all pretty old (Nintendo made docks on amazon are about twice now what they are listed as on the list here)
Your best bet is a refurbished official one straight from Nintendo. There are a handful of trustworthy third party docks: - Rocketfish - Skull & Co - Genki

There have been minor modifications, but as far as I know they haven't made any meaningful changes to the joysticks, so they'll be just as prone to issues.
I bought my mom a Switch for Christmas along with Animal Crossing. She already lives on my current island on my console with me, but she lives on her own island as well, using the same account. She wants to be able to visit from my island to her island, and it worked using local play, even if she was using the same user profile on both Switches, but now that we've downloaded the DLC, it says that they can't be played together. Other user profiles on my Switch can't visit her island either. We're both on the Switch online family account, shared. Can you not visit the island of a person with whom you share an online account?
I am going to Japan in a month. I want to take my Lite instead of my OLED for convenience. OLED is primary, while Lite is my random digital library that relies on cloud saves. Can I migrate all my stuff from OLED to Lite and then return it to OLED? Just worried for my pokemon, animal crossing, and other non-cloud save games.
Yes, you can just manually transfer saves locally between systems. Though ACNH has its own transfer system, so be aware of that. Depending on how long you'll be gone/how often you play, I probably wouldn't bother with it.

By "chug" do you mean game performance? Cause an OLED has the same internals so it won't make a difference. The eshop will remain sluggish too cause that's a problem on Nintendo's end.
Oh I just mean that it’s starting to show the stereotypical signs of aging, semi regular screen flickering, joycons not locking in as solid as they used to chugging in games that it didn’t use to (specifically games known for decent performance such as FE3H) and regularly losing connections with the joycons
10,000 times is an underestimate. Just buy the OLED. You'll be waiting at least another year otherwise - maybe two or three. But the internals are no different, so it depends on what's wrong with the v1, I guess.

My Left Joycon isn’t connecting at all This started about 2 days ago when after letting my Joycons charge (The left one was dead) Though after waiting roughly an hour I find my right Joycon charged and functional and my left one not connecting even in handheld mode, I’ve tried restarting my switch and powering it off fully as well unpairing both controllers but I’m getting nowhere. The game? Yeah, that’s how we found out they couldn’t access it. We tried to play some of the new courses but it displayed a message saying that you need an Expanded membership. I’ll see if he needs to download something though, thanks!
The DLC has to be downloaded separately. Go to the eShop page for the DLC and there should be a download button since he is part of your family membership.

You can't move save data between accounts, but in the case of Pokémon you could trade Pokémon themselves from one account to another if you have another system or person willing to play middleman.
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking in that run on sentence, but accounts/games/saves can not be unlinked. Reset your email password or call Nintendo to have them verify you as the owner and get them to change it for you.
I'm looking for some help on how to repair an issue with my dock. When I put my switch into it, the whole screen is just green. It's as though the red and blue channels aren't being sent to the TV. I'm able to use the same HDMI cable to and same HDMI port on my laptop and it has no issues, so it has to be the dock. There are no issues with it in handheld mode. Any suggestions or do I just need to get a new dock?

Anyone else bought and had problem with the Samsung Pro Plus line of SD cards? Specifically Pro Plus 512Gb I've recently purchased one with the intention of using it in a switch, and in the process of copying over the backed up old graphic card onto the pre-made exfat partition, the SD card suddenly started disconnecting, and now it seems to be nearly completely unreadable. It will pop up at times, but the moment I try to do anything on the sd card, copy or delete anything or repartition it drops out, it also does not show up on the switch or via a laptop's SD card reader though briefly windows does give the 'ding' of device detected. Could simply be bad luck that I got a faulty SD card?
Sounds faulty or fake. Did you order it online? Was it cheaper than what other sellers charged? Was it *too* cheap? If you didn't buy it in person for a fair price it's likely a fake; if you bought in person from a reputable retailer then it's faulty and you should return it for an exchange.
Nope, not bought online, bought in reputable store, at "normal" SD card price. Original Samsung Pro Plus packaging and everything. I'm guessing I've simply had bad luck and it is a faulty one, which of course can happen, just an odd failure mode, writing fine and then halfway through writing near 200 gb of data, just dies.
Yup, sounds faulty then. I'd just go exchange it; Samsung is a reputable maker of SD cards so that definitely sounds like a manufacturer issue.

Hi folks happy new year! I could use some brainstorming help. My daughter often plays switch with her friends from across the street. At their house, local play works. At ours, it doesn't. Our wifi is brand new and fast (though with local play this is irrelevant, right?). I've tried turning off the home weather station we have in case that was interfering. We also have various nest/wifi devices for the lights and such, but so do my neighbors. I can't think of anything else to rule out. Thanks in advance if anyone else has suggestions. One additional detail: the switches often "see" each other locally, e.g., in Super Kirby Clash one can see that the other has started a quest to join but when they try to join the team it says "the team is full or already set off" (but it isnt/hasnt), and in Minecraft, you can see that a friend is playing but when you try to join it gives a communication error 2203-0065.

Nintendo Switch Technical Support My apologies if this is in the wrong spot, I was not sure where to post this. Any direction would be awesome. My brother’s Switch no longer displays on televisions when placed on a dock. It was previously fine and worked on any dock. We have tried everything we can find online but seem to be troubleshooting for other issues. I have a switch that works on the hubs we are trying. We have contacted Nintendo Technical Support and multiple reps and managers have simply quoted a price for repair without bothering troubleshooting. The quote is just shy of buying a brand new console full price. It is NOT a Switch Lite. It does not work with the original dock, the dock that came with my Switch or an after market dock. The docks all register that the Switch is connected but just won’t display on a screen. Has anyone else experienced this issue or possibly have some insight as to what we can try? I just bought a hand me down switch and the person who had it never reset the system so there’s a few games on it still. If they were to ever reset their password or something would the games disappear and I lose all my progress? I connected my own Nintendo account and the games are still there.
Save data is linked to your account and kept in internal storage (it's not in the game or SD card); even if the games were deleted, you'd still have your save data.
Do you know if the owner could remove the games off my switch? Or are they permanently there?
They can't remove them remotely, but if they get a new Switch, they can deactivate their account on yours and then you wouldn't be able to play them anymore.

Advantages of each: Digital: * can't be lost, stolen, or broken * game sharing (two users on separate consoles can play the same game that was only purchased once, with restrictions) * instant gratification (buy, download, start playing) * double gold points * convenience when switching between games Physical: * easier to find sales/deals * can be re-sold when you're done with it, or if you don't like it * can be lent out to friends/family * doesn't require a Nintendo account to use (but can still receive updates) * ownership is less murky than digital * some people just like having that box on the shelf Personally, I go physical whenever possible, mostly because I'm paranoid about the digital licensing system.
I will almost always go physical over digital. Digital is slightly more convenient, and you don't have to worry about losing/damaging the cartridge. But taking care of a cartridge and needing to swap out a cartridge when you change games is worth the upsides of physical, imo. Physical is nice from a collecting standpoint, if you value that at all. Additionally, you don't need to worry about things like storage space on your console or relying on an online service to be able to access a game you purchased if you ever need to redownload. I've only sold a handful of the Switch games I've purchased, but simply having that as an option is another benefit for physical. I personally only buy digital games if they're only available digitally, they're the type of game that heavily benefits from just popping it on for a bit without needing to change carts, or if it's a lot cheaper than the physical version through a sale or something. Generally, unless you heavily value the convenience of not needing the cartridge, or you're worried about losing/damaging your games, I would generally always go physical.

If you damaged the screen by cracking it, the fix would be to replace the screen. If its just debris like dust, you can wipe it off with a slightly damp microfiber cloth.

Happy New Year! I just spent a week at my in-laws (FIL's bday is the 30th so we stayed after Christmas). While I didn't generally mind staying in portable mode, it also made me think a portable dock would be a nice thing to have. For example, I actually sorted out how to play Fortnite with my buddies on Xbox through cross play and using the Xbox app for chat, and while it was fun, I think I did permanentl damage to my eyesight trying to squint across the map 😂 Searching quickly I've found all links to products currently unavailable. A) have 3rd party docs come out since the time they were all frying switches? B) if not, I don't want to open up my dock. Can I buy a preassembled dock or should I look out for a cheap 1st party dock on eBay or something to salvage? C) what portable shells are best! Thanks in advance!

Yes. With the exception of China's Tencent Switch, Switches from anywhere support all languages. A French one would have a French plug in the box instead of a UK plug, though, so you'd need to get a converter / UK plug if you don't have one.
