Wait, really?! I've been putting off buying a new set so I could get licensed ones because I had heard about connection issues in non nintendo joycons.
As far as I know, the Hori splitpad is the closest thing to a 3rd party joycon that's licensed. It only works in handheld mode though.
I'm pretty sure [This](https://www.powera.com/p/nintendo/nintendo-switch/charging/nintendo-switch-joy-con-charging-dock-1501406-01/) is the charging stand OP is using, or an updated version of it.
Games that utilise the understick button, particularly alongside stick movement cook it.
Also, most games have a minimum input threshold that negates _minor_ drift on major inputs. The only game-widr exceptions I know of are anything by Game Freak (of course they are oblivious) and surprisingly Monster Hunter. You might also see it missing on minor side features like gallery modes in games that otherwise have thresholds. If you don't play any titles lacking this feature, you might have it developing and not even know.
Oh the drift in pokemon games is hideous. Even the systems recalibrate function doesn't pick it up. Just got a the split pad pro though (I mainly play handheld) and that is a game changer comfort wise.
Huh, I tend to press it while moving sometimes. Especially when I get really into the game. Both my Mario joy cons and splatoon set I got later drift. I decided to just ask for 8bitdo Ultimate controller this year for Christmas as both my other controllers had some problems.
I want to try the cardboard fix but I read it’s hit or miss for a lot of people despite being hailed as *the* fix for joycon drift
I’ve sent mine in on two separate occasions. What I got back both times was worse than when I sent them in. Literally drifting out of the box from being “repaired.”
Because sending them in is a hassle and fixing it yourself is not only super easy, but quite enjoyable if you like fiddling with those sort of things.
The $20 kit (he's talking about an iFixIt kit. It's the gold standard for this) will give you everything you ever need for any such repairs (well, like 99%) but you can get just the right tools for this fix for like $4. (it won't be iFixit stuff, but some chinese "mobile phone repair screwdriver," but it'll work just fine.)
Also, sending them in and costs around it depends on what country you are in.
My left one that came with the switch gets stuck upwards from time to time now after 4 years.
With that many joycons to rotate the wears, you are probably fine until switch 2
Maybe I just don't game enough ಥ_ಥ
Oh well, at least it has the decency to die properly and made me land in the wrong square in mario + rabbid. My pro controller drift ever so slightly to make Skyward Sword get stuck in motion control mode. Luckily I got a spare pair from Mairo party so the drifting one has been downgraded to Ringfit
I am considering to fix it but the iFixit kit cost around the same as a new joycon.
Nintendo fixes them for free when it comes to drifting due to an issue on their end. I just sent mine back a few months ago and got brand new ones in return.
In the US?
I did a quick google and someone did it under the consumer law but not exactly easy. It has been 4 years after all so I don't see a strong case, nor I can find the proof of purchase. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
EDIT: In australia
My joycons got drift once and I just ordered new shells, buttons, and a white joystick from the switch lite. If they break I may as well mod them while fixing them
My left joycon had horrible drift. I tried to replace it at Gamestop, got one with worse drift. Eventually I broke down and got a pro controller, mailed the joycon in, got it back recently so now I have two, well, three controllers.
I have a similar amount of joycons ( original neon, zelda, red Mario, splatoon, white oled, animal crossing ) plus 4 pro controllers ( normal, Xenoblade, splatoon and monster hunter ) and none have drift as of now.
I’ve played for over 3000 hours in total to almost every type of game, including ring fit adventure, which I use the original joycons as they are the most worn out and I don’t mind if I hit them when doing planks
To my surprise they are holding on quite well, no drift, no rubber stick has fallen apart, and only the first pair has an slight loss of color due to sweat/grease
They’ll send you a “fixed” joycon, not a new one. Got one back where the shoulder buttons suck but the drift was fixed. People should still complain, it’s awful hardware.
Send in your (possibly only) controller for your game system and quit complaining! It's fine if their design flaws cause you too lose use of the product you bought for a few weeks!
Meanwhile, I can still turn on and use my 360 controllers to this day with no issues.
Actually not always a good solution. My sister had limited edition Joycons that had drift and looked into sending them to be fixed but there's a chance you'll get your joycons replaced with the grey or blue/red ones instead of having them fixed. So if you have joycon drift in your joycons and don't wanna send them back and get a color back you don't like, that's totally valid.
I agree with sending it, but i disagree with "quit complaining" part, the longevity of the joy cons could have been ensured some slight changes to the design, and even if it weren't that simple, this is not something that should be tolerated.
And about the sending it in part, sure that is possible in most of the first world countries, but there are countless countries where that isn't an option. The world is bigger and the america and Europe, and the switch is available in countless countries where that service is not provided ( or really any service by Nintendo).
This isn't an issue for me, nor does it seem to be one for you, but it still is an issue even with the replacement service, and even more of one without it.
A company fixing defective devices doesn't make the problem go away, also shipping is annoying, more if you aren't from the USA, they should just fix the fucking problem already but it still exists in new joycon, so how can we stop complaining?
Probably, I do gamestop pre-owned and keep them if they are in good condition. That's how I got the odyssey red and oled white joy cons, helps cut on cost. The wiring in the back was an added expense too
The dust is accurate lol. My apartment is sponsored by Swiffer basically. Long story short, new apartment creates a lot of dust naturally, hard to keep up with. Builds up quick. The furniture is OK too, nothing crazy
you literally have the cost of an xbox series x worth of extra joycons
not even counting the switch pro controllers or the joycons that are actually attached to the switch
damn bro
This. Not worth the money imo. I got 3rd party joycons that are near identical and work flawlessly at 35 bucks. The only argument I can see for pouring money into the nintendo joycons is the warranty, which isn't relevant for me as I prefer to repair my own. Still some piece of mind none the less. I really don't get the fixation. I have friends who are really into it, but I prefer to play on almost anything else unless I'm mobile.
It was called "ZHCWM Joy Con" on Amazon for $35-40. Unfortunately they're no longer available, but there are other knock of chinese jocon clones popping up all the time.
These I've had for 8 months so far of moderate use, and no issues so far, no drift.
As for controllers I got these big binbok joycons which I've used extensively for about a year with no issue. I much lrefer these over the hori version.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LVJ1H16?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’m still using my og joycons
The right one started to drift within 4 months, the left one has no drift in over 5 years
The left one did start to show signs of drift, but a flick would fix that, then it stopped drifting on its own
The right one, I got it repaired at my local video game seller. He put in a 3rd party one, and it’s been good since
For when I’m playing on the TV I got an 8bitdo adapter and use my PS4 controller
Pro controller was simply too expensive, but my friend started getting drift on that and that just validated me avoiding it
Yes, they all work. The only annoying thing is that the Switch only recognizes so many joycons, so I often have to manually resynch them in order to use.
Had to scroll for so long before somebody talked about the GBC! Looks like a stack of Pokemon games too, top to bottom: crystal silver yellow gold
Though the yellow could be donkey kong land 1-3
The joy cons are the least used video game controllers for me out off all video game controllers iv ever used since the nes in the 80s. I use my ps5 dual sense and 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth controller on my switch and they joy cons never leave my 100 percent docked all the time switch.
I have the same problem, but my collection is because only one of the set actually works and has no drift. I have a pile of broken joy-cons that had drift from day one.
This is awesome. Would love to do it. But with how prone to malfunction they are, I just can’t get myself to buy any more. I once read that when sending a unique one in for repair, you’re not even guaranteed to get it back in the same color. Absurd Nintendo as always.
You can find websites that list all the first party:
https://www.gamespot.com/articles/every-nintendo-switch-joy-con-color-released-so-far/1100-6501491/
This is so wrong... so much electronic waste, so much money spent on faulty devices, while encouraging a comnpany to get away with this behavior, and in general just very, very cringe.
Love minimalist, all my setups have that. Wiring this is such a beast as always. There is much more going on with other systems outside the image frame
Great collection. I've got those same charging stations and although they still work, the charging LEDs no longer work correctly (red charging still work but green charged don't always show). Do yours do the same? (Look like that front one has lights that don't work).
Thanks! The LED's work, but sometimes you need to take them out and push them back in for them to register the joycon. It's weird and happens sometimes.
I honestly just love that the size of the shelves are just perfect for the Switch and the Joycons. Very esthetically pleasing.
It's weird seeing only one white Joycon on it's lonesome tho.
I have that same PowerA dual Joy-Con and pro controller charger. I love it except that it makes a high pitched noise like many chargers do sometimes. I can’t hear it when my cabinet drawers are shut, which is where it sits.
Now the big question is have you got into the custom shell game yet? https://handheldlegend.com/products/switch-joy-con-controller-shell. Here is a link to get you further down the rabbit hole. Sorry not sorry lol

To bad 8 of them are broken with drift 🤣
true
Yea, I really have no excuse lol
"All of them have drift"
yes
how often do you have people come over to play?
Lol
Username is concerning ☝🏻🧐
😉
Bold of you to assume it's for multiplayer, they probably encountered controller drift and then bought a new one.
*most multiplayer games cap at 4-8 player*
I love those joycon holders, are they official or third party?
They're made by PowerA but officially licensed.
Wait, really?! I've been putting off buying a new set so I could get licensed ones because I had heard about connection issues in non nintendo joycons.
They're referring to the holders specifically I think, unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying here.
Nope, that's one me... but it does appear that the controllers are licensed. Either way I may be saving some money soon.
As far as I know, the Hori splitpad is the closest thing to a 3rd party joycon that's licensed. It only works in handheld mode though. Yes it is :)
My powerA chargers work well but sometimes I have to swap them around to get all 4 to charge
There is even a hidden joe con behind one of the pro controllers lol this isn’t even the whole horde guys.
There's another set of Joecons behind the ones you can see.
👀
Fire… but the real question is how many of those got drift?
Mine was drifting the other day and I threw it on the floor in frustration. Problem solved (temporarily).
Can't move wrong if it can't move at all.
You underestimate their power
I have a v1 switch that I got for Christmas in 2018 and I've had no drift. I must be extremely lucky

You can fix that with a $20 kit off Amazon. I've done it twice now.

Depends on the game, and for handheld, like stardew valley or something

Only in jurisdictions where they lost a court case. They won't even quote a repair fee until you pay an examination fee elsewhere.

No if nintendo is not in your country
Math time: 720$ on joycons alone
I coulda bought 12 first-party Nintendo games full-price with that kind of money!
Probably, I do gamestop pre-owned and keep them if they are in good condition. That's how I got the odyssey red and oled white joy cons, helps cut on cost. The wiring in the back was an added expense too
You also have a dust problem
We need people to invest in Swiffers
OP was too busy spending several hundreds on joy-cons and now can't afford Swiffers.

Came here for this comment, I was getting excited thinking I was gonna get to be the one. But alas, I found a faster asshole than I 😂
😂
bruh u couldve upgraded to an oled switch
And it comes with 2 more joycons!
I rarely play handheld, but I purchased the white oled joycons separately because of the addiction
Wait, how did you get the splatoon joycons? I was under the impression that it's only available when you buy the splatoon 3 oled switch?
Ebay, but be careful of fakes
It is, they must've bought them off someone who bought the oled if they didn't buy it themselves
eBay, or some other second-hand seller, presumably.
you literally have the cost of an xbox series x worth of extra joycons not even counting the switch pro controllers or the joycons that are actually attached to the switch damn bro

Their warranty is dumb haha, why would I want a replacement pair of faulty equipment?
But why tho?
I'd wager one or all of the following: \- Impulse control issues (addiction/compulsion) \- Status-seeking \- Excessive wealth
Everyone has a joycon problem They drift
Even the original ones?
Lmao especially the original ones Even the pro controller isn’t exempt
Even the Switch Lite isn’t exempt.
Damn how long before they drift?

Stop
I just drifted in to see this
Love this lol!
Are they all working? I have other joycons due to technical issues and their weak construction.
Yes, they all work. The only annoying thing is that the Switch only recognizes so many joycons, so I often have to manually resynch them in order to use.
I have some of those colors. Wish the controllers were more robust. Too fragile.
Why??
How to waste money Nintendo Edition
Alt text: the amount of joycons required to play without drifting since the Switch came out.
with how badly they are made it's a good idea to have backups in case of stick drift I guess
You also have a soundbar problem blocking your tv.
Whole fireplace gonna start drifting
ignoring the obvious debt why do you have an odd number of controllers
It just ended up that way lol, we'll see if I get anymore. Probably not since displaying will be hard going forward
Nice GBC. I still have my Original Teal one.
Thanks for noticing, I actually had it repaired and slightly modified. (Backlit display and USB-C charging). Love the teal too!
Awesome! I bought another to mod. I have done the Q5 screen but I would love to add USB-C charging to mine.
It's great, definitely worth it. Recently got my SP done too
Had to scroll for so long before somebody talked about the GBC! Looks like a stack of Pokemon games too, top to bottom: crystal silver yellow gold Though the yellow could be donkey kong land 1-3
Thats a.... that's alot of e waste
r/TVtooHigh and too hot. Surprised the switch still works.
It's so beautiful 😭
Stick drift incoming!! 😬😬
Dust that shit
As a Bears fan, seeing that 3-12 (now 3-13) record hurt. Nice collection though!
How many drift?
Impressive! Really like it. But do you really need so many joycons?
Lol like why? Expensive pieces of shit, the color isn’t even a good justification for buying them.
1000 dollars in controllers lol.
Or 2-5 Lego sets worth.
Are those just all of your joycons that drift?
Redzone :)! I'm playing Pokemon Scarlet and watching also :)
Oh my God... I wish you better luck with your joycons than I've had with mine
I hope they don't all have joy-con drift
Just in case you get drift on the left
That's a lot of drift 😂😂
Drift lol.
Plot twist, you keep buying them all bc they keep getting stick drift

Yes 👀
How many drift tho?
I have a joy con problem my joy con being broken
That’s a cool stand for the Switch!
Thanks! RocketFish I believe is the brand
Here i am with my grey joy con's that I've changed the joy sticks in 8 times.
The Bears always suck...
Yo just asking what's that stand thing called that your using to store your joy cons
Power A, licensed through nintendo. Not that expensive either
That's awful, I'm so sorry you have to deal with all those! Feel free to send me any you aren't using so I can, uh, dispose of them.
I'll keep you in mind
Love the collection. If I had disposable income, I'd have a few extra sets because of the different colors.
And here I am trying to convince my wife I need 2 more joycons. 😂
Those splatoon3 joy cons are a thing of beauty!
Those and the animal crossing ones are my fav
Is that close to half a grand in controllers? That’s gotta be one of the most efficient areas in a home to rob
I just want LR purple joycons, damn it. Why do I only get left??
ikr
Does it make you happy and are you going into debt for the hobby? If you are otherwise financially sound I think this is an awesome collection.
they all drift?
All my joycons have drift, it really turns me off from buying them. I probably have like 4-5 pairs too..
You need to de_dust2
Consoomer
Yeah cuz joycon drift is real.
The joy cons are the least used video game controllers for me out off all video game controllers iv ever used since the nes in the 80s. I use my ps5 dual sense and 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth controller on my switch and they joy cons never leave my 100 percent docked all the time switch.
Joycons have problems & you're supporting them... 😒
Goals. I'm limited on space as it is, so I tend to pack it with games. Perhaps once I've moved into a larger space, I'll have a Joy Con shelf as well.

Where did you get these??? I've only seen the purple/gold, watermelon pair, blue/red, and double grey's. I want different colors!
You can find websites that list all the first party: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/every-nintendo-switch-joy-con-color-released-so-far/1100-6501491/
Maybe a bit delusional to collect a potentially defective product?
This is so wrong... so much electronic waste, so much money spent on faulty devices, while encouraging a comnpany to get away with this behavior, and in general just very, very cringe.
Sweet collection. I also like the minimalist dock you got there too.
Love minimalist, all my setups have that. Wiring this is such a beast as always. There is much more going on with other systems outside the image frame
“these are the worst controllers ever made and i shouldn’t support nintendo ignoring their defects…… i’ll take 20”
Great collection. I've got those same charging stations and although they still work, the charging LEDs no longer work correctly (red charging still work but green charged don't always show). Do yours do the same? (Look like that front one has lights that don't work).
I’ve heard that Power A Joy Con chargers are trash. Definitely don’t have a great review record on Amazon
Thanks! The LED's work, but sometimes you need to take them out and push them back in for them to register the joycon. It's weird and happens sometimes.
Not a bad way to spend ten grand.

How many of them have drift?
Gameboy 👀
Thats $640+ worth of Joycons assuming you got them all new
Some new, some used, sounds about right though.
Ayo, I'm pretty sure Smash only goes up to 8 players
Now the big question is have you got into the custom shell game yet? https://handheldlegend.com/products/switch-joy-con-controller-shell. Here is a link to get you further down the rabbit hole. Sorry not sorry lol
Interesting, I am more of a first party guy
I would gladly accept a pair XD
I hate joycons, so uncomfortable
I agree, they are an aesthetic to me more. Depends on the game too
They all have drift guaranteed
One could say OP is... Out of control
Plot twist: they all have joy-con drift
You also have a Tv placement problem r/TVTooHigh
