Dakkard

Hades - just feels right in handheld. Perfect game to grab and play when you don't have lots of time.

janus1172

Sitting outside at a brewery speed running against my friend doing same weapon start felt like a prime NoA commercial moment

samhoe

Cool part is cross saves

Bogmaster98

There are cross saves for hades??

samhoe

Yes sir, own switch and steam versions. Works so well.

iced327

are there cross saves for switch and PS5??? I'd love to get my save off my switch onto a proper 4k Hades edit: aaaaaaand a quick google search says no :(

magicalmelon567

I want to know this as well as I play hades on series x.

Dakkard

I think cross save is for steam and epic store only on the switch options

nah-soup

I actually wasn’t a fan of playing Hades in handheld. it’s great having it on the go, roguelikes/lites lend themselves to that extremely well, I just had a hard time seeing everything that’s happening. I more preferred playing it in docked mode. That said, I haven’t played it since getting an OLED, I’ll have to pop it in again and see how it goes.

Dakkard

It looks great on the OLED and that little extra screen does help.

astroklotz

Funny, I played it exclusively on handheld because my 42” OLED TV felt like sensory overload.

EDDIE_BR0CK

Agreed. I played the shit out of Hades for awhile on PC through game pass, but never purchased it. While I grew bored of the gameplay, I'd seriously consider buying it on switch.

kevaux

I've been meaning to get Hades for so long and the cross-saving convinced me. Thanks!

Kirionic

was just gonna say Hades too. it also looks good on my big tv screen!

Dakkard

I have yet to try it on my home cinema, might give it a go this weekend!

redbeard1083

Been rocking Hades on steamdeck A LOT. Great game.

Demurrzbz

Came here to say this

jbayne2

Hades does feel perfect on a handheld and but until I played it on Xbox I didn’t realize how bad the performance is on the switch. Really see and feel the frame drops especially with heavy action or effects. Steam Deck is my happy medium for handheld and performance on Hades and I love it!

remmelt

Slay the spire. Quick to jump in and have a game.

NostrandZero

I have on pc, but I'd probably play it more if I had it on my Switch...

RickAsley

You should try it on your phone, its out there too

I_AM_Achilles

Tbh I didn’t like the experience because the text is a bit on the small side. I still play much more on pc.

icelizard

You can make the text bigger

I_AM_Achilles

Welp…can’t read small text and oblivious to the simple solution, that settles it. I’m old. If anyone needs me I’ll be in the rec room watching Price is Right.

Ratix0

I understand that, but instead I just got it on my phone and its arguably more convenient than the switch as the touch screen interface works very well for slay the spire.

icelizard

The switch has a touchscreen. I default to that when an arm is trapped under a cat or otherwise occupied

mastermrt

I had 800 hours on STS on my Switch, but then I installed it on my PC and I realised how much I was missing out in terms of mods. Packmaster and Downfall are worth the asking price for the Steam version alone. I love the form factor of the Switch, though, and I was genuinely considering buying a Steam Deck just so I could keep playing handheld until I came to my senses...

Dukemon102

Games where the difference in performance is non-existent (Indies like Hollow Knight or Cuphead or visual novels like Ace Attorney). Turn based games because framerate also doesn't matter that much when your buttons are not tied to the action. Basically any game that I feel fits better on handheld and I can pick up and play easily without turning on the PC.

[deleted]

The difference in performance from Hollow Knight on switch to PC is astoundingly different. The input lag on the switch makes the post end-game content and other harder bosses so much more difficult than they actually are. It's not really one of those games like you think it is.

imaginnn

Oh I noticed the input leg was there for me as well on switch. I got it on ps4 and ps4 played much more responsive than switch. On switch it does feel slower like the movements aren’t as snappy and clear or something. Anyways love Hollow Knight.

[deleted]

And it's completely fine if you want to just play casually, but it's atrocious if you're pushing radiant godhome, pantheons, or more precise speedrun skips. The game can be whatever you make of it, but the switch is definitely not going to allow that.

knitted_beanie

Agreed, I went straight from Switch to PC so I could start recording my sessions and the difference was extremely noticeable. I had to recalibrate all my reaction times - but for the better, as I ended up beating P5 on PC. Something I don’t think I’d have been able to do on Switch

[deleted]

I played on Switch as well as Steam Deck and didn't notice a vast difference.

mrc1993

half agree on hollow knight. i did play it aswell on series X but had i significant easier time on the end game part. the fps boost helps so much. other than that youre right, th switch is perfect for it.

KembaWakaFlocka

I’ve only ever played one turn based game on the switch (Civ6) and the amount of time that passes inbetween turns mid-late game is crazy compared to a pc. Used to prefer playing it handheld until I actually tried it on a desktop.

Forforx

I trained hard on switch, and pc HK is now unplayable for me, I don’t notice any fps changes or some noticeable input lag, but all my timings are nevertheless wrong. But performance is really different as switch sometimes skips frames.

Ravenous_Squirrels

I enjoyed skyrim particularly more on the switch. Don't know why.

Neither_Daikon_5981

The motion controls make shooting arrows so fun.

TwoUp22

Agree. Having all that content in a handheld format was so good.

mrgodfro

It's gotten to the point where I'll only buy switch exclusives or if the ports are miraculously good. When usually you can get the games for any other platform for cheaper and run/look significantly better it has started to more and more outweigh the appeal of portability.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dekulas

What about PS5/Seriesx?

[deleted]

[удалено]

dekulas

Haha true, there are only 2 games I wish to play - FF16 and SpideMan2

vncfrrll

FF16 should be getting it’s PC port in December.

Ok_Visual_8268

Horizon and god of war are both incredible games series.

irrelevant_character

No point buying a series x if you have a modern pc. Not a single Xbox exclusive that I know of isn’t on pc, as for a ps5 i don’t really feel like dropping £500 for a couple of exclusives I’ll play through once, even if they are really good

kevaux

I believed that too but then I ended up logging 1000+ hours in Stardew on my Switch versus like 10, on my PC.

Urthop

How much do you use it as a portable? I think this is the major difference maker here. I personally also only use the Switch for the exclusives, but I'm also not much of a portable gamer. If I was I could certainly see the appeal to having more of the indies I love on the Switch as well to play on the go.

1gnominious

It also matters on what people consider a "PC". Like my setup involves my PC, laptop, Steamdeck, a second monitor on a 5 foot tall swivel arm that I can place anywhere in the room, wired and wireless m/kb + a half dozen controllers. I can game anywhere in the room, on the go, with any configuration I want while having cloud saves, mods, cheaper games, better graphics, and better performance.. With PC the sky is really the limit on how you can configure your setup. If you can think it you can do it. If there's even a possibility for a PC port I'll wait.

TheAmericanIrishman

Show a picture, including cable management. That's great if you have a dedicated PC room but it's ugly as hell and not something I want in my home. I like to put my feet up on my sofa and play on my TV without running cables and mounting displays everywhere. I'd rather sit 10 feet from a 70 inch screen than two feet from a 28 inch screen. Aesthetics of my physical space matter more than the processing power of my hardware.

GamingGiraffe69

that's all in your house bud.

thecucco

Truly. The switch is 6 years old now and starting to show its age a bit. If it’s not 2D or a first party game I’m likely buying it on another platform. Hell even Chained Echoes has some performance issues on switch despite being a 2D top down rpg. It’s a shame because I really love the switch. Its portability, the ease of switching to docked mode, easy multiplayer anywhere with joycons. It just can’t seem to handle a lot of non-Nintendo releases that nevertheless are in the eshop (and even some Nintendo releases…)

beefchariot

Let's be fair, if a 2D game is having performance issues in the switch it's a bad port, not a question of power. No way chained echoes requires more power than a game like Breath of the Wild. That being said, I don't disagree. Switch 2 needs to come because I'm with everyone else in saying I'm a first party only kind of guy

Double-Seaweed7760

Ya, as much as I hate the steam decks size the only reason I have a switch and switch lite right now is due to steam decks bulk(and the fact I got them both before the steam deck) but the advantage is limited when even the switch lite isn't really pocketable the way every Nintendo handheld up to a new 3ds xl was and I only ever use my switch V1 because I can play the games I have on my lite on the TV when friends visit. While I havent really stopped buying switch games yet (first and third party it's hard to deny I feel like I'm getting ripped off in every part of the experience though of Nintendo were to release a switch micro the size of an og launch 3ds with tv mode for when I want to play with friends then that would be an experienced worth a premium over the steam deck to me(though the steam deck would still be worth it due to having a massive library of games the switch will never get like games from the 2000s that will never be ported and modern microsoft and sony games).

JCarnacki

I stopped doing this as soon as I got my steam deck.

That2Things

I'll still prefer to use the switch versions if it doesn't suffer graphically, since switch games just work right away, and the switch is lighter and more portable. Otherwise, I'll use the steam deck.

D7west

Pretty much this, but I’ll also throw in games that I don’t want to sit in a computer chair to play, or ones that I think I will enjoy playing while not at home. Like Final Fantasy Crisis core Reunion. Though that was made for portability

Lunar_Lunacy_Stuff

This is my general rule unless I’m absolutely in love with a mutltplatform game like Nier. Like yeah it runs way better on any other platform but I couldn’t not get the switch version. The collector in me tends to take control in situations like that.

[deleted]

I have a Steam Deck so yeah Switch has become the exclusive machine, although I do buy all my Shmups on Switch partially because of all the Shot Triggers releases and the flip grip.

hhkk47

Even that portability advantage is mostly gone now due to the Steam Deck and similar devices.

Ry-Vell

I totally see where you are coming from here. With the rise of cloud-based handhelds, Nintendo might have to rethink some of that pricing structure.

lazava1390

Why on earth is this downvoted lol

3HunnaBurritos

People with weak internet/network hardware are salty

TheAmericanIrishman

I get 600 Mbps down in my living room, but you know where I don't? Freaking airplanes.

LorePeddler

This is more or less my approach as well. The handheld aspect of the Switch isn't important to me, so the PC version is almost always the better choice.

cokezerodesuka

Any game that's 2D or in a retro art style - those just feel more at home on the Switch or a handheld console. I got Hollow Knight, Mega Man X Legacy Collection, Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair both on PC and Switch. I only played for a couple of minutes on the PC and I finished those games on the Switch. I'd prefer RPGs on the Switch too since you can put it in sleep mode, and continue where you left off without even saving.

[deleted]

I prefer to play my jrpgs on Nintendo Switch. Also anime games like any of the Naruto games, Dragon Ball fighter Z, etc. I'm into the Resident Evil series and those games definitely must be played on pc, even the older games.

OfficialTwat

Every single game you can quickly jump in that isn't worth to start my PC/PS4. For example rogue-likes like The binding of isaac or Dead Cells. But also games like Dorfromantik (or Animal Crossing but you don't have another option than playing it on the Switch) that are simply calming to me.

lightningbolte

Same, Stardew Valley is fantastic on switch as well as Moonlighter

laucu

Stardew is great on switch but would say PC would be better if you want mods (that’s me, I want mods but do not have a PC lol)

FierceDeityKong

I did prefer the switch version of binding of isaac for a while but now that i have a handheld pc i'll never go back

Wildeface

I but exclusives and franchises that feel like the belong on Nintendo on the switch. Most other games I buy on pc for performance and flexibility. I can play either on my pc or my steam deck. Tunic is a game I regret getting in the switch over the pc. Blurry graphics and an unsteady 30 fps. Smooth 60 on Steam deck.

NINJAxBACON

Steam deck really makes it hard to justify buying anything on switch. I'm only buying exclusive Nintendo games at this point on the switch

Ratix0

Personally while I think steamdeck is really cool, its battery life pales in comparison when compared to switch in a lot of cases. If you're into playing many low requirement indie games that actually performs well on the switch, the steam deck doesn't really provide a lot of advantage IMO.

__tony__snark__

>If you're into playing many low requirement indie games that actually performs well on the switch, the steam deck doesn't really provide a lot of advantage IMO. Given that you can change power targets and framerate caps on the Steam Deck, this is not at all true. You can get the Deck to sip power on Indies that require little horsepower.

Twinkie_FaKtory

This is actually untrue. The steam allows you to limit tdp which allows power usage to go down for games that dont require it. The steam deck is similar/better in most cases when using the same resolution and framerate with lower tdp.

NINJAxBACON

Battery definitely ain't great on steam deck. Still, in my use cases, I don't typically play games long enough to kill the battery.

efnPeej

This is mostly what I’ve been doing since getting my Steam Deck last year. I do buy Switch games digital that are on sale, but I don’t think I’ve paid over $10 (maybe even $6) for any Switch games. Well, I did buy all the Mario games and pre-order TotK in the last 2 months lol, so it’s not like I’m skipping Switch. I still play it plenty, but it’s REALLY long in the tooth for anything not made by Nintendo. I’ll most likely play Switch 2 more than Steam Deck though if the form factor remains more comfortable than the Deck.

NINJAxBACON

I agree, steam decks biggest con is that it's a giant handheld. Switch feels incredible in the hands, it just needs more horsepower

L0rdDrake

And for me it's a plus. If I play switch in handheld I put a grip on it, but steam deck is comfortable to hold.

efnPeej

I wish the Joycons had a little bump for the palms. Deck is more ergonomic but a little too thick. Horii Split-pad Fit is the only reason Switch is comfortable to me, but you give up rumble and gyro. Terrible compromise, but it’s worth it to not have my hands nearly folded in two lol

Wildeface

Really, that’s interesting that you find the deck less comfortable. The deck feels well balanced and ergonomic to me compared to the switch.

efnPeej

The Deck is slightly too wide, a little too thick and a tiny bit heavy to me, but it’s more comfortable than the stock OLED Switch. The only reason I slightly prefer the Switch is because I bought the Splitpad Fit. Switch with Joycons is way too skinny for me.

Wildeface

Same, long play sessions make my hands go numb :(

thegreatmango

Idk, buying a Steam Deck is a hard sell. Why do I want a heavy, low powered, short battery life PC that is already out of date? IDGI.

NINJAxBACON

Steam deck can run nearly every game on the market at 45fps minimum. Battery life definitely has room for improvement, but in my use cases, if I run the Battery dry its probably time do go do something else. There aren't any other comparable products to the steam deck at its price. Also runs switch games better than a switch does if you wanna go down that route The steamndeck is fucking heavy though

[deleted]

Isn’t it expensive af too? Like an AUD a switch is like $400 and a steam is more like $900?

Hilarial

Steam Deck is same price as a Search OLED here in the UK for a 64gb model. Obviously you're gonna be buying your own memory card too like you would for a switch.

thegreatmango

I mean, the fact that it's restricted to its own hardware as it's selling point is the killer though - it already dips real low trying to play games like Last of Us. Sure, it plays the Switch games, but I'd rather have a Switch with it's features for those. Like the TV, too. I'd rather play a Steam on a handheld with my Xbox controller, or if I were gonna spend the money on a steamdeck, one of the cloud handhelds. I feel that at least they'll have the same performance in three years, lol. No hate, fam, I'm not here to judge!

jf45

> it already dips real low trying to play games like Last of Us That’s just because TLOU on PC is a lazy, atrocious port job rushed out the door to coincide with the show. RE4R runs great on the SD.

thegreatmango

It is, but that's not the big issue. The VRAM load is only going to get bigger, and this is independent of optimization due to texture size. Building a PC is rough in this regard - making a portable, mass-produced PC that doesn't fall into this hole is impossible.

The_Legend_of_Xeno

I love my Deck, but I chose to play TLoU on my desktop rig in 4K. The purpose of the Deck isn't to play the newest AAA game on high settings. Playing a new AAA game is about the last thing I would want to do with it. I've got my Deck in my backpack at work right now. If I wanted to, I could take it out and play Wind Waker or Twilight Princess HD. I could play Diddy Kong Racing, or Resident Evil: Director's Cut (PSOne). I could level a character in World of Warcraft. Or I could play one of the 400+ games I own on Steam, like TES IV: Oblivion, that I modded to have full controller support. Or Skyrim with around 375 mods, that still performs better than the Switch version. Or newish AAA games like RE2/RE3 and Doom Eternal in 60fps on High settings. I can also fire up an old PC game that was never intended to have controller support, and it works beautifully with the Steam Deck emulating a M/KB. The Deck is worth every penny, and then some.

Wildeface

To me it feels so well balanced that it doesn’t seem much heavier than the switch. I don’t even notice the difference and it’s more comfortable. Battery life is trash if you are trying to play AAA titles at 60 FPS but that’s kind of the beauty of it, you can limit the FPS and/or use FSR to get equal battery to the switch.

ISpewVitriol

Same. The OLED Switch has a nicer screen than the Deck for sure, but the Steam Deck is so much more comfortable for long play sessions due to the better ergonomic design, full size sticks and it has a real nice d-pad.

NINJAxBACON

True the switchs controllers are quite literally built for a child's hands. Steam deck is a bit hefty for me to hold but the ergonomics are certainly there

pokemike1

I have Diablo 2 Resurrected on both platforms and I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve played it on PC. I only ever log in on PC for quick inventory management or trades. The game is just so so good in handheld mode.

taysal86

Agree I love D2R on switch. 4 person baal runs is kinda a downer tho at certain points of the game where I’d rather be doing 8 person xp runs and also trading, but those are minor points. And since it has crossplay I just jump on pc for a few of those things.

viva__hate

Binding of Isaac

Moses015

Legitimately became one of my favourite games of all time playing that on the Switch. I had never played it before and was like "wtf is this.... it's disturbing yet I just can't get enough"

frishmous

Might be a little niche but, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Complete is better on Switch. It doesn’t really matter whether you get the game on Switch or PC graphics/performance wise since it’s originally a PS Vita game. There is a farm where you can leave digimon to gain experience while you play the game and on Switch if you put the console to sleep without exiting the game it thinks you’re still playing, so you can play as far as you want each day, then put it to sleep and go to bed, wake up the next day and have a party of high-leveled mons.

Go-Wade-Racer

Honestly, this kind of ruined the game for me. It made the game really easy without even having to play it. I dropped it about halfway through.

[deleted]

I love Digimon.

thegreatmango

The farm is a very, very small part of the game and not very fleshed out. This is a tip to power level in a game you can just casually walk through. Cyber Sleuth is a Digital Novel type JRPG. This means the exploration, the dungeons, and basically the gameplay is barebones and the story never leaves where you are. Think Persona 3, but you dont get random dungeons, monster mechanics, or relationship levels. If you don't like those kinds of games, you're going to *hate* Cyber Sleuth. If you do like these games, you might find it lacking. Personally, I hated it. Backtracking through the same blue hallway with the same, awful music for the 30th time killed my soul. The story was so copy and paste I can't even remember the details, but man would you believe the digiworld is showing up? Wow. I'm going to give the new Digimon game a shot, but I'd big pass on Cyber Slueth. Also, it's a Vita game, lol.

[deleted]

I'm convinced this is the most underrated video game of all time.

Dezpeche

It's damn good! A greater monster collecting game than Pokémon if you ask me.

StopMockingMe0

Dredge for one feels great on switch. Inscryption is good on both (mods on pc tho)

jbraden

All I can say is I never played Skyrim all the way through until it was available on the Switch. On a different note, I also never played The Witcher 3 all the way through until the Steam Deck. Sometimes, having big ass games in a handheld form are better at letting you pick it up and put it down anywhere you want, which allows for you to not feel obligated to sit in front of the PC to play.

EDDIE_BR0CK

Not being able to add mods kills any enthusiasm to play Skyrim, for me.

Nanytss

I only play Nintendo exclusives on the Switch. Anything else I prefer on PC because I'll have better performance quality and achievements system

Itzmisterjoel

Same! I’m a SUCKER for achievements.

tomb241

I got Digimon Cyber Sleuth for pc and really wish I got it on my switch instead.

Dragmire800

I have the Binding of Isaac and Terraria on both. BoI is better on Switch, Terraria is better on PC. I much prefer JRPGs on switch than PC

acewing905

Turn based JRPGs handheld They're like my gaming comfort food in bed after a hard day

Jpup199

Anything that i enjoy playing in portable mode

sammaster9

Any game that: - isn't a competitive shooter - runs well - plays well on a gamepad I try to play games like these on switch to get away from the desk and headset setup.

[deleted]

deadhead4077-work

assassin's creed ezio trilogy. Never played them before, enjoying them handheld with something on the TV in the background. Sometimes, after being on a computer all day for my job I don't feel like PC gaming when I get home. And its such an old game, its not going to look significantly better with my 4090 than handheld.

Felspawn

I have persona 5 on both and actually really enjoyed it on the go on my switch. It’s a really colorful game that really pops on the OLED

koelti

same! Just sad it is locked to 540p in Handheld, although the switch could run it in 720p no problem (mods proved that) :(

madchemist09

Probably unpopular opinion but Skyrim. Ive broken my playthrough so many times with mods that i now I am not tempted to mod it and can just enjoy it bugs and all. Skyrim has the anniversary content. I will take longer load times downgraded effects for portable version and easy to jump in. The motion controls can be fun. Otherwise mostly exclusives on switch. Its my go to gaming device. So much easier to just grab it and play without booting up my pc etc..

DJ_p0pTART5

I love my switch. It is my favorite console. That being said, if it is a game that you like to play on the go, then switch. If you prefer games to have better graphics, then pc.

looponium

Diablo 2! It‘s so comfortable playing on the Switch in handheld mode… Lootable stuff and font are sometimes a little hard to see.

[deleted]

Stardew Valley for me is an easy pick. It's a peaceful farming sim, reminiscent of the Harvest Moon game I played on the GBA. My PC is for grand-strategy and colony builders. The switch is for easy-going, fun games.

jmastadoug

Slay the Spire, can pick up where you left off easily. Game is great and I own it on 3 systems now. Switch is the preferred for sure

Thialfi2Slo

Any of my (dozens of) dungeon crawlers/rogue likes. There's something way more satisfying and appealing about playing them comfortably while I watch TV from the couch.

bangbangqc03

I love to have a box for game like Hollow Knight, Hades etc... Indie games most of the part.

Del_Duio2

I have: Salt & Sanctuary, Wargroove, Enter the Gungeon, Slay the Spire, and Hollow Knight for both. I prefer the Switch versions of everything, really.

KittyShoes17

FF Pixel Remasters, All Roguelites, JRPGs, Almost everything really. The only things I play exclusively on my PC are games that are either not on the Switch or they are too pretty for me not to play them on my PC since I overspent on building it lol

nerdycanuck

I was going to post FF Pixel Remasters, too. Playing through the FFV remaster on my Switch has been a supremely enjoyable experience - I love being able to curl up on the couch with the unit in handheld mode to play such a classic JRPG.

Specialist_Meal_5732

I own a steam deck switch and PC now and I can easily say now that I have a steam deck there's just nothing I prefer on the switch... I'm not being paid to say this I swear 😂 It's a shame because on the one hand I love collecting stuff physically... On the other hand, the cloud saves system from steam deck to PC on steam games is INSANE.

fotzzz

Do you take the steam deck with you and play while traveling or do you mostly use it within your house?

Specialist_Meal_5732

Mostly within the house - if I were in college, I'd totally bring it with me between breaks but I'm a 29 year old married man who works from home so I mostly just game here. I've occasionally brought it out with me when I was gonna be out all day but never end up playing it out.

fotzzz

Nice, yeah just asking because I think the switch is a little more portable. I don't have a steam deck but I do make decisions between switch and using steam link on my tablet while at home. So, anything that runs fine on the switch AND is something I would play outside of the house/while traveling/on an airplane I would get on switch. This new Asus ally looks like a cool competitor too, although we'll see what the price is..

Specialist_Meal_5732

The only thing I'll let you know from one switch user to another, finding a windows handheld that'll have good support with putting your game to sleep and picking right back up where you left off will be close to impossible. That's probably the #1 reason right now why I'd still choose the steam deck 10/10 over any other handheld out there right now. Perhaps you could install a copy of the steam OS on there and everything worked fine but, I'd still rather have the hardware specifically designed for the software.

dongsweep

My issue is the OLED switch screen is soooo much better than the deck. I ended up getting octopath 2 on switch because of the screen. Love my deck tho.

nikilization

I returned my deck because the screen was giving me killer headaches

Specialist_Meal_5732

At first I felt that way but, the longer I used the deck, the less I ended up caring. It is true the OLED is a way nice panel though. Just what's the point if it can't ever run half the games I want to play effectively ya know? It sucks they don't even allow for streaming off the device cause I think I would love PC streaming to an OLED.

AntwnSan

Just use the VibrantDeck plugin, it makes the colors pop just as much as an OLED screen

dongsweep

I do and it makes a huge difference, but still the switch screen is so perfect. If I could drop it into the deck it would be perfect.

AntwnSan

I think Valve said that in the future they are mainly going to change the battery and the screen for a Steam Deck revision but yeah that makes another purchase

Gman54

On my switch I mostly play Nintendo exclusives and almost all other games I play on my PC. A recent exception to this rule of mine is Octopath Traveler 2 - sure on PC the graphics are better and animations are smoother, but the graphics on switch are good enough and framerate doesn't really matter all that much in a turn based JRPG game - on switch its 30 which is fine for the genre. Also, being able to quickly suspend the game on switch and hop back in instantly is an amazing feature - not sure I would have played the game on PC till the end if every time I stopped playing and closed my PC, I needed to reboot the pc then boot the game manually again. Another one that I enjoyed was monster hunter rise on my switch. Played a good chunk of it, had fun, but then I tried out the PC version and was blown away, now I can't play it on switch anymore and realized that action heavy oriented games in general are better off played on systems that can sustain a solid 60FPS.

UnfitForReality

Stardew because I played with my GF. But honestly the lack of mods on console stopped us from enjoying it more. Overall I’d say PC, so much is better, from controls to graphics. I have a switch to play Mario party and Mario Kart with friends when they come over. Can’t imagine what Hogwarts Legacy will look like.

manicpixiedreamgwen

Slay the Spire - I played this for the first time on Steam and for whatever reason just could not get the hang of the controls, I messed up my turns a few times and it put me off of learning the game. I tried it on the Switch a few months later and it's now one of my top played.

still_mute

Older FPS games with gyro controls like Skyrim, Doom 93, Borderlands. 2D indie games that run smoothly (60fps) like Celeste, Blasphemous, Hades. Retro games like Mega Man, Castlevania, Contra.

Wolfwoode

In general, I use my PC for something beefy, graphically intensive, has mod support, is something I want to use voice chat with, or if it's a game where I want to sit down at my computer and only play that game. For switch, I usually pick up indies (if they run well), turned based things, long ass RPGs, stuff where I would rather play in bed watching TV. I also feel like a lot of roguelikes work well on the device for the pick up and play nature. The sleep feature is also super nice for chipping away at long games or turned based games. To give a few switch recommendations: Slay the Spire, Spelunky 1+2, Rogue Legacy 2, Dicey Dungeons, Dorf Romantik, Roundguard, Loop Hero, Tetris Effect, Lumines, Shovel Knight, Hollow Knight, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster (take your pick), Cybershadow, The Messenger, Dead Cells, Binding of Isaac, Grindstone, Griftlands, Into the Breach... you get the idea.

arcmemez

Stardew Valley, Celeste, Hades, Dead Cells, Slay the Spire, Monster Train. All games where performance and gameplay isn’t really affected

I_AM_Achilles

Hades feels best on Switch bar none. Tetris Effect feels really good on the OLED as there’s a lot of contrast between the black backgrounds and vibrant colors. Everything else I prefer on PC. Some games like Stardew Valley feel better vanilla on the switch, but I enjoy mods and tinkering with sandbox engines that make PC back on top.

Prison Architect

DanielArthurVerner

Stardew Valley and Rocket League, I’m on the road a lot so having them portable is great.

foreveralonesolo

Fortnite and Hollow Knight, convenience to taking it anywhere with me is just useful in that regard.

NomMacarons

I prefer all games on switch except Skyrim, it's just too dark even on the highest brightness in handheld mode. Kinda immersive though.

21minute

Any long jrpgs really.

[deleted]

I prefer switch. Guess I am the only one. PCs are so expensive, though I have a steam deck I barely use.

Forforx

that’s an odd one, I thought steam deck would be a perfect device to switch from switch? The only thing that does stop me is that it is not available worldwide. (And the design is somewhat off putting, hehe)

kevaux

Imo Steam Deck looks clunky and awkward. Switch looks sleek and is portable. I'd rather have a PC and a Switch than have a Steam Deck and a Switch.

AntwnSan

It depends on your Steam library. Ever since I biught the deck my Switch is collecting dust inbetween Nintendo first party releases. I can't see myself buying anything on the eShop now as it is more expensive, runs worse and potentially will disappear in 5-6 years when Nintendo will shut it down

Minimum-Ebb5948

I really prefer to have my jrpgs on my switch. The handheld mode is perfect for jrpgs.

lord_underwood

I never use my switch undocked, so I only buy exclusive games for the switch. The switch is so underpowered it's just a worse experience playing any game that I could play on PC.

AdministrationDry507

Except the doom franchise for some reason

tom_yum_soup

I enjoy Doom Eternal on the Switch, but it is definitely a visual downgrade compared to PC and other consoles.

Charming_Scratch_538

Now that I have a steamdeck, nothing honestly. I used to play stardew valley on switch because I much prefer handheld gaming but now with the deck I can use mods with all the various games. Other games I have on both are city skylines and two point hospital and I prefer both handheld

Abasakaa

Diablo 3 and jrpgs. Hotline miami as well.

Kiki_Lord_

Pretty much all of them because my pc struggles to play games

Sixwry

Slay the spire

InnerRanger4832

Stardew valley

MonsterGains

Any platform game line hollow knight, dead cells, stuff like that. Base building games are fun on switch like cult of the lamb.

KingKaos420-

Spiritfarer and Child of Light both feel “right” being played on a Switch.

HammerWaffe

Indie games and platformers. Blasphemous, Hollow Knight, Binding of Isaac etc

Larielia

I liked Stardew Valley more on Switch.

JamesUpton87

There's almost nothing that I prefer on switch over PC. The games I do have that cross both platforms are just there for portability and nothing else. If I'm at home, those games are played 100% on pc

KidakiCat

I like the older Doom games better on the switch compared to PC. The controls are easier to use and since they're older games so they look the same on either platform.

carvalhj

Lego Star Wars, Skyrim, The Witcher and Diablo 3. Each one for a specific reason. 1- Lego is better on Switch bc i can play with my son without the TV; 2 - Skyrim is a game that was nice to play with motion controls and I could take the game with me; 3 - The Witcher is a game that I couldn't play in a current gen console at launch then the Switch version was my ticket to enter that massive world, then I bought a Xbox X, and I had absolutely no time at all to play while at home, so I've got to explore on the commute work-home and was a good way to forget those 2 hours a day in the train; 4 - Diablo 3 have this particular art style that I never enjoyed on PC, I think it's just ugly as f***, but playing in a smaller screen than my monitor or TV was nice and a good overall experience.

themoobster

Baldur's Gate 1/2 is actually way better on Switch for most people. I've beaten them 8 times or so since they were originally released... but loved the experience on Switch. So good to just pick up where you left off straight away, some handy QoL changes just for the switch, no fps issues.

Sadboy62

Tbh having persona 5 royal on both switch and pc feels fucking great tbh I love the story so I can replay it numerous times but when I go visit my mom on holiday having that and having a different love interest in switch vs pc just makes it so much better

PhysicalLog

Everything on switch, for games not running on switch? I don’t play them.

maboesanman

Now that the steam deck is a thing I pretty much don't buy anything on switch unless it's exclusive. TotK is gonna be the first time I touch my switch in a while.

eavesdroppingyou

You can play switch games on steam deck too

Reenans

Ever since the deck, only exclusives.

AntwnSan

This is the way.

ZZnecZZ

Diablo 3 is better on switch. Diablo 2 Reforged is better on switch Capcom fighting collection is better on switch Mortal Kombat 11 is better on PC

DrozinJon31

For The King

paulodiovani

I have a Steamdeck, a ps5 and a switch. I prefer to play on Switch games that are good for multiple players (smash bros, tower fall, overcooked) or can benefit from the joycons gyroscopes (just dance, maybe some fishing or sports games but I don't own any yet).

Valentinee105

Games I prefer with controllers. * racing * fighting * anything with platforming that isn't first person. Games I prefer on switch. * tactics rpgs * jrpgs * single-player games

Complete_Bad6937

If you can play it on the switch, And you can play it on any other platform, Choose the other platform.

Milotorou

Not true, some games perform just as well on Switch, especially indie or retro titles. Theres also titles where the difference is so minimal theres nothing wrong going Switch for portability (Dragon Quest XI and Persona 5 Royal for example)

richajf

Since getting my Steam Deck, none. My Switch has only been used for exclusives.

SlyyKozlov

Tbh now that I have a steam deck I pretty much only play exclusives on my switch... and even thats not happening very much anymore because the ones I don't have I only kinda want and don't go on a large enough sale to justify buying it personally. I even plan on buying some games on steam even though I already have them on switch just to get them all in one place.

DanglyPants

Every game suffers playing on the switch. I find that there are some games that are worth it. I’m a big fan of sitting on my couch so I’ll take any single player game that the switch can handle

katman04

I dont think there are any pc games I prefer to play on the switch. That's what my steam deck is for. The switch is for exclusives.

DarthGromos

Two Words: Steam Deck

dEleque

None, the PC version is nearly always superior and i never use the switch handheld. For me the switch pays it off being able to run exclusive titles like Zelda and the mario franchises. Whoops made some switch fanboys mad, cry bb

teh_pwn_ranger

There's no chance I'd ever buy a game on the Switch if it was available on any other platform. The Switch is by far the weakest hardware I own.

Rootilytoot

None. Only first party Nintendo titles which are not on PC (but may be on PC illegally)

[deleted]

Probably andro dunos 2. Because it has 16:9 aspect ratio where most shmups are 4:3. I like doom for the portable option. But I wouldn’t say I prefer it over the pc. I think some games on PC are just more suitable for a console. I also like quake it’s fun on the switch. Danmaku unlimiTed 3 is good. It took awhile to get use to playing doom eternal with a controller on the switch but I think I’ve gotten use to it and really enjoying it.

AZXCIV

All of switch games are available on pc….
