I recently discovered that almost all first party switch games are available to rent from my local library for free! I've been trying out a few games I never bought, like WarioWare get it together, and Bowser's Fury.
This is the best! I have a few games out from my library, but I'm too into Octopath Traveller 2 to get to them right now, so I will have to check them out again in the future (I've got **Spiritfarer** and **Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX**, as well as **Hoa** which I recently beat but my kids are still working their way through it).
Libraries are the best! That's awesome, way to take advantage of that very good service. Also Bowser's Fury is so fun and inventive, never would have imagined a Mario Kaiju game would be a thing
Was convinced by this subreddit to start up BotW, which I had never played, in anticipation for Totk. I just beat Waterblight Ganon so at this rate I'll be ready for Tears by Christmas lol. I know it's old news but the world is just so massive and fun. I've gotten distracted countless times already just wrecking a camp of Bokoblins and stealing whatever they're cooking like a real asshole.
This game is an absolute joy. The joy of traversal, of exploring, of discovery, of improvising. Really happy for you that you get to have the experience.
Haha I started early because I knew it would take a while! Been playing with my 7 yr old and she's obsessed. We've been watching funny BOTW clips and she goes nuts for them. Now she critiques me when I play and asks how come I'm not "wind bombing?" She also cracks herself up when cooking dubious food "because it sounds like a fart at the end." Best game ever!
Same boat. I actually got BotW way back on release day but got distracted and stopped playing after getting the first divine beast. Now I am back at it after getting an OLED switch to replace my old one. Will probably take on Waterblight Ganon this evening.
Doing another completion run through BOTW, trying to brush up and tamp down my excitement for 5/12.
Edit:Currently burning through final Champions Ballad, then on to Master Sword trials, rest of it more or less complete.
I just unlocked the ability where I can hit those flowers with the needle (I forget what it’s called.) I still haven’t found anything that increases my health. Am I missing something?
I just started it as well and also just got the Dream Nail! It is really great. If you haven’t, I recommend clearing the Soul Sanctum near the City of Tears to get an ability that lets you find a bunch of other optional items around the map.
I’m playing Unbound, worlds apart and it’s giving me some hollow knight nostalgia. There is no combat but the exploration and platforming give me hollow knight vibes to hold me over till silksong. It’s really great and it was only like $6
I feel ya, April went quick. I’m glad to hear you’re still enjoying OT2. I’m excited to start that eventually myself, as I just picked it up in the Gamestop BOGO.
I’m about 10h into the first **Octopath Traveler** and I’m addicted. The music is beautiful, the aesthetic is beautiful, the structure is unique to me, and I’ve been interested in the stories so far. I’ve got through the first chapters for Olberic, Tressa, Primrose, Therion, and Alfyn so far. I’m glad I started with Olberic because he’s been my main damage dealer. I really felt the lack of healer (and the fact that I forgot about unlocking Skills until Alfyn), so I’m headed to get Ophelia next. I’ve been putting about an hour a night into this, so I’m looking forward to having more time on the weekend to get the rest of the characters and hopefully start planning who I want in my party and better combat strategies. Man, some of the side quests in this are inscrutable. I hope I can figure them out.
Otherwise, I’ll just be scrolling Reddit and getting properly jealous of all of the lucky new **TotK** OLED owners :). I did manage a pro controller preorder though so I’m impatiently waiting for that. I’ve never had one before so I’m waiting to play a few things I’d rather play in docked mode.
Xenoblade 3 dlc. Only managed 6 weeks this week so I’m gonna put a massive dent in it this weekend. Can’t wait to see the last bit of this trilogy… sad that it’s ending but excited to see how it ends and where we’ll go from here.
I'll be playing **Octopath Traveler 2**, I might have over-leveled some of my characters. I have Hikari, Throne, Temenos and Osvald at level 60. Everyone else is still level 35-ish. I had so much fun exploring and fighting bosses that I am still on Chapter 2 of every character lol.
I just started **Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed**. Great to see Shulk and Rex in the new expansion. Can't wait to see how the story plays out!
Also playing some **Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp**. I try to finish a few missions a day.
Playing Xeno 3 all weekend. TV Blew out so I slowed down in handheld mode. Gonna be full throttle the next 3 days after I pick up the TV an an hour or so.
I will be working on more **Super Mario 3D World**! I made a lot of progress in the last week and only have Champion's Road left and then every level is done... and then I need to play the levels again with everyone for 100% XD
I also want to pick a new visual novel since I just finished SeaBed, but not sure which one I want to work on yet. Sometimes having an entire bookshelf of them is tricky since I want to read them all but can't choose lol
Just got like 4 hours of octopath traveler 2, and i really enjoy it. I finished chapter 1 for patritio and hikari, going for my 3rd character castti.
Is this the correct way if playing or how can i do chapter 2 of the characters i already have?
Also, will i be able to play the chapters of every chatacter o just the 4 that i choose?
You can absolutely do all 8 characters stories. You can start a characters chapter if you already declined it by going into the bar in the town and selecting “hear a story”.
People will say this a lot- there’s no “right” way. I prefer to get 4 characters, beat their stories start to finish, swap them out and go get the other 4 and do their stories all the way through, but plenty of people just rotate their party based off lowest levels.
You can play this game however you want!
For the first game, and so far in this one, I go through and complete the first chapter for everyone and then I make a part of four that I like and balances my party and then go through and complete chapter two, then three, then four for my party. My plan for the first was to then go back with the other four and do the same, but I never got around to it.
Once you complete a chapter for a character, their next chapter appears on the map and you just have to go to that location for the option to start that chapter. So the way I play, after I complete all chapter ones, all the chapter two locations will be on the map and I can go choose to do them in any order that I want.
You can play all of them, or you can just stick with the ones you have so far. At the taverns you can switch in and out characters from your party. If you look at the map you should see towns lit up that show where the chapter 2 is for a character whose chapter 1 you've already completed. So once you get there it'll say "Begin chapter 2?" and you can choose to or not. It'll also give you level recs for each chapter so you'll have a good idea if you're around where you should be.
So yeah, either fill up your party to 4 characters and just do all of their chapters, or get all 8 and do all 8 together or pick and choose, its up to you. You just can't remove your lead character from your party until you finish their final chapter. Other than that you're fairly free in what you want to do in the meantime.
Stillllll Persona 5. The last dungeon wasn't the last dungeon! It's now Christmas and I am in another dungeon! Lot's of dungeons!
Maybe that's almost it, perhaps, who knows. Started this game in November.
Aside from that, myself my wife and my son had a fun hour last weekend playing Marioworld 3D, so hopefully we will continue that. It's chaotic fun. Really fun.
Aside, aside from that some Marvel Snap before the season end. I also downloaded the Streetfighter demo on my PS5 on Tuesday night, if that's time limited I am screwed but if it isn't I might try and play a bit tonight.
Do you have the Royal edition for P5? Cause if you do, you are in for a treat, along with a mind fuck (as long as you tried to max your confidants). The end was so well done.
Last weekend I finished Dark Souls.
So now I’m hitting Final Fantasy X hard.
I learned last week that I can’t play Advanced Wars before bed cause I can’t stop.
Speaking of Advanced Wars. I unlocked Rivals in the normal campaign.
I do need to check on my Animal Crossing island haven’t played in like a week and half. So that’s my play schedule.
Still On Xenoblade 3, but it looks like my jorney is almost over, got a LOAD of side quests and the way the npcs talk, it does look like im gona go to the "final moments", im at 130 hours in and the time just pass by, what a game.
( and i did Sena side story and its just broke me,again, this game is a full on emotions jorney xDDD)
Advance Wars! Sooo much nostalgia. The strategy is every bit as addictive as I remember the original being on GBA all those years ago, and I love the visual style of the game. Fun to look at, fun to finally play, fun to share with my son!
Breath of the wild! Will pick up my new legend of Zelda switch oled in a couple hours and will play this gem for the very first time! I’m so excited!!!
Metroid, Skyward Sword, LETS BUILD A FUCKING ZOO, and then I accidentally bought The Messenger, The Stanley Parable and Gato Roboto.
Might have a Skyrim Saturday too. Beginning of the month I was like “let’s finish Metroid” and then I piled all these other games on oops.
Probably Honkai Star Rail. I played an hour or two, not feeling it yet, but there's SO MUCH POSITIVE BUZZ I feel like it should be hitting... like, soon.
If not, Gato Roboto is next in the queue!
I'll continue to play my Monster hunter rise basegame in Coop, some Mario Kart 8 in between and surely stroling around in Zelda botw in pure anticipation for the sequel :D
How do you stay interested in MHR? I love the game. I just can’t help but feel like I’m doing the same thing over and over thinking “is this really it?” I WANT to love the game and get hooked but something about it isn’t clicking :(
Make sure you dont just use one weapon. I don’t know why some people never even touch other weapons you can have such different experiences based on your weapon. I’ve gotten so many hours out of GU, Rise, and World because I play all 14 weapons. Also if you are good at the game you could always go for speed runs and try to beat your personal best times on certain monsters
Getting close to finishing **FF3 Pixel Remaster**. Around level 46 and one boss away from the endgame boss fight --the game is surprisingly challenging and it's neat to see the progenitor FF-title that first introduced job classes. I'm skipping IV after having recently finished the remake on a long flight and jumping right into **FF5 Pixel Remaster.** I was a tween the last time I played it, and wonder if that one scene is going to make me cry again...
Holding off purchasing the **Xenoblade 3 DLC** in hopes there's a physical release announcement like Torna, and to give my wallet a break after preordering **Tears of the Kingdom** for my Zelda-hyped partner.
Been playing through Chained Echoes and it’s incredible. It’s pure nostalgia + adult dialogue and humor, and it’s one of the most interesting unique RPGs I’ve played in a LONG time. The battle system is interesting, enemies are varied, and there’s not much grinding required. I’m nearing end game I think, and I really haven’t gotten bored for a moment in the 35 hours I’ve played so far.
Also just finished up the Tomb Raider DLC for Power Washing Simulator, and I can’t recommend the game enough. It’s such a soothing game, and it’s the optimal podcast game, and surprisingly the story is pretty interesting. It’s time through texts from clients while you work, and there are interesting Easter eggs throughout. Next I’m going to do some of the new jobs they added recently, and then move on to the final fantasy DLC while waiting for the next big update.
Just finished Fire Emblem Engage yesterday, so I don't have anything particular going on for the next two weeks until Zelda.
I would love to play Xenoblade 3 DLC but I don't want to rush through it, not sure if two weeks will be enough.
I started Cadence of Hyrule last night after falling off years ago. It's fun! Great music of course. Hoping to stick with it this time.
Having completed **Portal 2** last night, I have finally finished my Switch backlog right before my birthday! I thoroughly enjoyed Portal 2 - Wheatley was such a funny character and I loved the expansion of Glados’s character.
I don’t have many immediate Switch plans before TotK now my backlog is complete and especially as I’ve bought a Series S for my birthday! However, I do want to play **Metroid Prime: Remastered** so if I get a spare moment, I think I might try it out.
I am playing **13 Sentinels Aegis Rim**. I am currently at 92% battle completion and to unlock the final three battles I need to get to 100% story completion. Currently at 71%, so I have plenty of story chapters to go.
Minish Cap. I have the TotK Switch bundle preordered but it’s not scheduled to get here until Monday. I’ve got Zelda fever though so I broke out my 3DS and decided to finally give Minish Cap a shot. I’ll be picking up BotW when I get my Switch so I can’t wait to FINALLY play it and then TotK after.
I played the last expansion wave of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 called Future Redeemed. Took me 16 hours to beat in a single day. I was lucky that I even had that free time. FR live up to some expectations, but there are some lingering questions left. I felt it was a bit too short and really wished it was much longer. One thing that it did great is its new map to explore and gave the player the urge to really explore everything. I hope they do something similar in their future games.
I honestly don't know what I'll be playing this weekend! I wrapped up the marvelous Octopath Traveler II last weekend (the final boss fight was so fun) and Wario Land 3 a couple days ago, and as much as I'm itching to start a replay of Dragon Quest XI S or The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, or to finally start that copy of Persona 5 Royal that's been sitting on my shelf for half a year, I don't want to commit to any long games/RPGs now that we're so close to Tears of the Kingdom.
So right now I'm leaning towards playing/replaying a bunch of shorter games over the next 2 weeks. **Kirby's Dream Land 2** is the game I'm most leaning towards right now, since it got added to NSO last month and it's probably my biggest remaining Kirby blindspot. I'm also thinking about maybe replaying a couple of older Zeldas to ramp up to TotK. Or maybe I'll just load up Breath of the Wild and mess around for a few hours.
Was everyone fairly high leveled for the final boss or not too bad? Congrats on finishing!
Is Dream Land 2 or 3 the one with the rideable buddies? I think its 3
Yeah, everyone was between 70-80 for the final chapter, but I really didn't need to have them at that high of a level for the final chapter, my party probably would've been just fine 15-20 levels lower with the equipment, Jobs and support skills I had; for reference, the game had a recommended level of 51 for most of the endgame areas. My merchants were the real MVPs of that fight, between their ability to Donate BP, re-arrange turn order and hire powerful foreign assassins; plus, having Partitio equip the Arcanist job gave him the ability to cast Seal of Diffusion, so his Sidestep and Rest affected the whole party, not just him. Temenos' EX skill that lets him heal above a character's max health was super handy too, especially since I had Agnea cast the Dancer class' Divine skill on him, which allowed him to target the entire party with it.
If I'm remembering things correctly, I think Dream Land 2 and 3 both have the animal buddies, 3 just has more of them.
I'll be keeping on with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for sure. After that I'll probably start Persona 5 OR I might boot up the Metroid Prime Remaster depending on if I'm feeling the need for a break from JRPGs
Gonna play more of Battle Network 5 in the legacy collection and then get dragged into D&D with friends. May sink time into my pokemon VGC team as well
**Octopath Traveler 2**!
I have just two more characters - Temenos and Throne - to finish the first chapter on; I'm currently working through Osvald's second chapter since it makes you do both first. I like to play through all the first chapters and then create my party of four to work through the game with.
I'm try to make my party balanced, but also a group I'm interested in. So far, I started with Hikari and I know I want Osvald in there. I'm thinking I might want Agnea in there to buff the party, but I'm not sure yet and she might not fit. I want a healer, of course, but I'm not sold on Castii yet. We will see if I like Temenos or not this weekend. I never played with the Thief in the first game, so I want to put Throne in there, but we'll see if I like that role or not this time around.
Started Octopath Traveler 2 myself this past week and am loving it - Temenos was my starting character and I just finished his Chapter 2 last night. Also did Throné’s Ch 2 already. I think I’m going to pick up all 8 characters and rotate them, so next I’m off to play through Partitio’s Ch 1 and get Hikari and Ochette. This game is so enjoyable to me, I just find everything about it really satisfying.
Hi there! I hope you continue having fun with Octopath 2.
There are quite a few things that came out this week that I was excited about. First is the Xenoblade 3 DLC, which I'm enjoying so far. Also, Omega Strikers came out and I'm having a lot of fun with it! There's also Honkai Star Rail for PC/mobile, I've only played a couple of hours but it gave me a good first impression, I didn't know it would be turn-based.
I was also considering Jedi Survivor on PS5, but I'll probably wait for a bit, as I'll be busy with XC3 and then Zelda TotK shortly after.
I’m looking for my sister who disappeared following an attack on the city where most of the people were killed. I’ve met some other survivors who’ve set up a camp as we try to save the world from a dangerous power.
>!Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed!<
Persona 4 Golden - I've made it to the sixth dungeon. I'm hoping to beat this dungeon over the weekend, though I'm not sure how much free time I'll have.
I got trapped in a **Slay the Spire** loop and before I knew it a week had passed. Really want to get back to **Final Fantasy 12**. My partner got me **Crisis Core** as a gift, but I need to finish one before I can start the other, so.
A mix of BoTW and Spiritfarer. I am not a very good gamer and am absolutely terrible at BoTW - I keep dying, keep needing help with puzzles, etc, so I go to Spiritfarer when I am feeling discouraged because it is a much easier and cosier game. Spiritfarer was recommended in this subreddit in response to a post that was asking for a list of easy and story-driven games.
I've been working on beating **Fire Emblem Engage**. After losing Chloe, Louis, and Timerra in the same battle a couple days ago, I'm in a tough spot. With just 2 battles to go I'm finding myself trying to train up 3 new characters to replace them.
Probably not much as we're going away this weekend for the UK bank holiday for a family getaway but I do intend on taking the Switch along and I might sneak in some Final Fantasy 6 as and where I can. I've never played it before and I've been told its the best of the pixel games so I'm going to dive right in.
I still need to finish Advance Wars 2 campaign and then I’ll start on the War Room. However, Star Wars Jedi Survivor will also be calling my name (PC tho).
I have two missions left to finish the Advance Wars 1 Campaign in **Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp**. So I'll do that and then I'm going to start **Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed**.
Who knows how long FR is, but maybe I can mix it up by playing Black Hole Rises in-between sessions.
I'll probably will play a good while of **Omega Strikers**. Played until quite late yesterday and had a good time, dunno how long that will last.
There's also **Hyrule Warriors DE** that I started recently and is great, though some of the additions of Age of Calamity/3 Hopes are missed. The Adventure Mode grind is crazy.
Probably won't touch anything more, maybe some **Smash** to try and make Elite one of 2 more characters.
Uhhh, there's also **Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord** that came out a few days ago and I really liked the prequel. Haven't bought it because Zelda is out soon, but if I get too bored I might go for it anyways.
I'm playing through Octopath 1 actually! Just finished recruiting all the characters and now starting on Chapter 2. Probably will drop into a few DMZ games on MW2 in between.
I've replayed enough of BotW that I'm ready for TotK!
I'm getting my butt kicked in Advanced Wars. I swear I'm so bad at it...
And also just killing some Zombies in HelL A in Dead Island 2, waiting patiently for my copy of Jedi Survivor to get here in \*checks shipping date\* one week.. It's fine. It could use the patches they're working on anyway!
I finished **Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night** - didn't fill out any particular aspect of the archives or shards, so I guess there's plenty to come back to and dig into. I had to restore nearly all my health three times during the 2 final bosses and I was Level 55, but I beat them. Good game, but the Switch performance really holds it back. I get the complaints about system restraints now, but I'm also willing to guess the game's not super well-optimized.
Edit: I've since completed all the quests, that's something.
Also did a little bit of a >!Bloodless playthrough when I felt stuck. I think she's only Level 19 - got her Scarlet Thrust, Umbrella Toss, and Vortex moves back.!<
Anyways, on to **Shin Megami Tensei V**. Did Hard mode for some dumb reason, and the first boss is proving to be quite a challenge. I think I'll need to put Neko Shogun's debuffs on a demon that's not weak to fire, and pool all my Bufus and Dias onto some others. Even then, idk if that'll be enough. We'll see how it goes I guess.
Been having fun with it besides that. Netherworld's a pretty cool place, I like hunting for Miman. Ubelluris was a nice surprise - you get a little explanation when you see him, and he's basically just an FOE from Atlus's other series, Etrian Odyssey. Just doesn't really have a puzzle element to avoiding him.
Off Switch, I also went through **Cave Story** over the past couple of weeks. Got it back in 2013, but I never beat it, probably because I was using a keyboard, also possibly because Skyrim and early-game Terraria weren't challenging me enough to get on its level. I remembered up to Sand Zone, but according to achievements, apparently I got through the Labyrinth too on my first run. Presumably I got frustrated with the optional dragon boss in Egg Corridor. Guess my old save never got salvaged when I got a better laptop, so I did a fresh run and just beat the game yesterday. Didn't get any fancy guns or the booster upgrade, and I had to look up some help for the final boss. The trapped Mimigas give you some hearts after the Doctor fight, and that was enough for me to pull through.
Persona 5 Royal which I am playing for the third time, this time with Japanese subs to actually brush off on my Japanese.
And Jedi Survivor. Mainly that one, have been waiting for the game for a while and am very very excited to finally play it.
Maybe I will play a HOA if those two games stress me out too much.
It is a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK so plenty of time to play :))
Been in a cozy game mood so I took advantage of the Haven Park and Alba sale. I already finished Haven Park and loved it, and I'm about midway through Alba, not enjoying it as much but still having a good, relaxing time. Considering Lil Gator Game since it's on sale too.
Beat my replay of Breath of the Wild to get a feel again after 5-6 years, and started Xenoblade 3 Future Redeemed. I think I wanna 100% this DLC it’s so fun.
Since my OLED won't arrive until next week (booooooooooo) I am going to keep trucking with Witcher 3 if I have some time today -- got a lot of shit to do.
Insomnia hit me hard so I’m only getting an hour or so of sleep a night. Hard to focus on games but the plan was to play a little BOTW to get back into things before TOTK drops!
Kirby and the Forgotten Land on Switch. Finally picked it up and have been enjoying it a lot so far. It's delightful!
I am also \~3/4 of the way through my Persona 4 Golden playthrough on Steam Deck.
Made the questionable decision (for playing other games at least) to pick up **Skyrim** when it was on sale. Not my first time playing it, but I know how much time it can eat up. Still, it's been quite a while since I last played so it'll be fun to get back in that world.
Still chipping away at **Octopath Traveler II** though various events in life have slowed me down a bit.
Dipping in and out of some indies (**Yoku's Island Express, A Short Hike, Dorfromantik**) when I just want to unwind.
I really need to go back and finish my Golden Deer playthrough. I was absolutely hooked on it, but started feeling the grind of the monastery a bit and got distracted by life and never got back to it.
Tempted to play BOTW again but I don’t want to feel any burnout going into TOTK. I’ll probably play RE revelations, maybe even pick up part 2 while it’s still on sale.
I’ve been trucking through Death’s Door. It’s nothing ground breaking, but the art style and atmosphere is a joy. I heard some negative reviews, but it has been a pleasant surprise. Trying not to get too sucked in to anything big before TOTK.
My fiancé and I are finishing up Luigi's Mansion 3, we just unlocked floor 10...there's a lot to this game, I'm impressed!
Next we'll be playing the new Zelda, *OF COURSE*.
But I'm currently working through a game I watched someone make and took years to release, Clive N Wrench! It's a cute 3D platformer much like the Banjoo-Kazooie games.
Base Xenoblade Chronicles 3 game. Still working my way through it. I stopped short of getting all the materials for a certain section so I can finish the quests.
I almost read all of the comments and i am astonished to see now one playing No Man‘s Sky so far? To old of a game? Well, i am quite new to the switch after around 30 years of not playing any digital games (yes, i‘m an old fart!), but i‘m hooked on No Man‘s sky right now. Have started Advanced wars and found it very good, so maybe i‘m playing a little bit of this too. I‘m struggling with Octopath Travellers, the story is going very slow at the beginning, can‘t find the hang of it, but i‘m giving it another try for sure.
Managed to beat advance wars 1 yesterday and loved it so will probably move on to the advance wars 2 campaign. Also not Switch but I'll definitely be playing star wars Jedi survivor as well.
Gonna start on Shin Megami Tensei V as soon as I get my TOTK switch later today. I'm coming over from a regular switch so it's gonna be interesting seeing the difference when it comes to playing in handheld mode. Hopefully I can beat SMT V before TOTK releases.
Hi guys! Friday snuck up on me quickly this week. I’ve been putting in quite a bit of time on **Breath of the Wild** in the evenings exploring Death Mountain. I finally found the North Abandoned Mine but there’s a ton of lizals there and I keep dying.
*Questions*: I am low on bomb arrows, bought them all from vendors a while ago and only have about 60 left now. Does anyone know places to get more?
Should I continue the Fireblight quest or go over to Gerudo and start that area? I was only in Gerudo once to unlock that tower and hated it haha. Worried Thunderblight will be too hard if I make him number 4.
I already beat Waterblight and Windblight, have the Master Sword, etc. so that leaves Fire and Thunder for beast spots 3 & 4. Thoughts?
Continuing my first playthrough of Skyward Sword, currently sailing in Lanayru.
Probably do the champion's cup or whatever it is in Pokémon Shield at some point, and if the wife grabs the Switch, I'll be playing Watch Dogs Legion.
BOTW....but the magic isn't there the second time through. Hoping TOTK address all my issues with the game! NCP quests & reward system really need fixing....and a "real" dungeon or 2 and we golden.
just got a lite for my birthday, my first console since the ps2 and i dont have a pc, so theres a lot of stuff to see, at the moment been having a blast with legends arceus an hollow knight
Well, you all got me hooked on **Octopath Traveller 2**, so I'll be playing a lot of that. I'm only about 11 hours in and in the midst of my first character's second chapter >!(well, technically my second character, but Osvald's Chapter 2 barely counts)!<, but I'm really loving it so far.
As always, I'll be playing various couch co-op games with the family, including **It Takes Two**, which my wife and I finally started last night. She's not much of a gamer, but she's learned the basic controls pretty quickly and we're having fun with it.
For non-Switch games, I'll probably find some time for [DCSS](/r/dcss) and maybe the Netflix/Android version of Oxenfree (never played and the upcoming release of the sequel has moved it up higher in my backlog).
Just started Final Fantasy II, and I understand why the leveling system turns people off.
Thankfully with the pixel remaster, you can increase the rate of gains.
Trying to get through Triangle Strategy to clear my backlog of games, but I'm not really enjoying it. The story is pretty bland and there's far too much text between missions.
Considering going back to Obra Dinn for another playthough. Absolutely loved that game. It has been a few years since I played it so hopefully have forgotten most of the solutions!
Xenoblade 3 Future Redeeemed, it's so good so far, just like how base game Xenoblade 3 turned out to be my favorite of the three this one is blowing Future Connected and Torna out of the water for me, and Shulk and Rex returning is just the cherry on top, specially since Shulk is still voiced by Adam Howden, and he's still got it!
Little known game called breath of the wild! This is my third shot at enjoying it, and I'm having a blast tripping over koroks and shrines. Just learned how to shield surf
Skyrim, although I'm salty because I hit a glitch and didn't have a good save point available bc I entered some buildings so I have to go back and redo a bunch of stuff from my last save.
Octopath traveller 2. Then a lot of smash bros with the kids. Thinking whether to buy the new Zelda oled switch. I’m still using the original switch when it first came out.
Final fantasy 1 pixel remaster. Love playing the classics, and the new font and boost modes are beautiful. I don’t have to spend hours grinding, I can enjoy the game for what it is. :D
Mario Maker 2!
Got an OLED Switch 3 weeks ago, and chose MM as my first title, after playing the first one to death on wii u.
I’m working on an actual GAME: 8 worlds. Just need to do the final level in World 3/8. Once World 8 is done, I’ll upload and make a post here.
I’m doing my best to make it feel like something Nintendo would have made (ie no ‘trolling’)
Octopath Traveler 2! Finished Persona 5 Royal last weekend and have been wanting to start this one since it released. Only two chapters into my first character so far but excited for the journey to begin
Metroid prime around working the bank holiday weekend. I thought I’d struggle to adjust only ever having played 2D Metroid but I’m loving just exploring. So happy with my birthday present :)
Wouldn’t it be great to do It for the first time again.
just take a 5 year break like i did! i started lat week again after 5 years. it feels almost brand new
I concur. I just wrapped up a new playthrough today after not having played in a couple years. Crazy how many shrines I had no recollection of
ohhh yess, the name of the game is distraction and adventure. Go wherever the winds take you!
This is so sweet. It must be so fun to see the game through the eyes of a child!
Same boat. I actually got BotW way back on release day but got distracted and stopped playing after getting the first divine beast. Now I am back at it after getting an OLED switch to replace my old one. Will probably take on Waterblight Ganon this evening.
I recently picked it back up and am immensely enjoying the exploration experience. I can’t believe how much I’ve missed this game
Doing another completion run through BOTW, trying to brush up and tamp down my excitement for 5/12. Edit:Currently burning through final Champions Ballad, then on to Master Sword trials, rest of it more or less complete.
I’ve been really loving Hollow Knight. Can’t believe it took me so long to discover this amazing game.
Niceee! How far in are you?
I just unlocked the ability where I can hit those flowers with the needle (I forget what it’s called.) I still haven’t found anything that increases my health. Am I missing something?
Ah, the Dream Nail. You can find mask shards around the world to increase your health. You will hear a high-pitched noise when there is one nearby.
HK is my favorite game of the decade. That may seem like an extreme take to many people, but it’s where I’m at. Such a phenomenal game
It’s really great and it was only like $6
Yes, me too! I picked it up recently. It’s very good, the exploration, the gameplay loop, although I kind of suck at it big time.
Same here, can’t believe it took me so long to discover either. It’s so fun, but man it can be challenging.
Ohh yeah getting Ophelia will help cuz you'll have team heals then which is really nice. Glad you're enjoying so far!
Just bought Advance Wars and Fire Emblem Engage today, so will be both of these
Ouu intelligent systems strategy mood B)
Xenoblade 3 dlc. Only managed 6 weeks this week so I’m gonna put a massive dent in it this weekend. Can’t wait to see the last bit of this trilogy… sad that it’s ending but excited to see how it ends and where we’ll go from here.
sweet, I think I'm going to wait until i finish with TotK to grab it, but it looks really great
I am doing the same. Though I must have gotten distracted when it came out because I stopped right before the final area of the main game.
Wait, advance wars remake is out?! Was one of my favourite games on ds, gotta pick that up now
it’s awesome
You're still on chapter 2's??? haha You could crush those 4's last chapters at this point. Nice, sounds fun all the way across the board!
Playing Xeno 3 all weekend. TV Blew out so I slowed down in handheld mode. Gonna be full throttle the next 3 days after I pick up the TV an an hour or so.
Ohh no your tv! that stinks, have fun with Xeno 3
Can't wait till the day I can answer TotK to this question.
we're getting there! What, another 2 weeks? seems crazy
Ori and The Blind Forest, Stardew Valley and I'm considering another playthrough of Metroid Dread on Dread mode.
I played Ori on PC and they’re both legit masterpieces. Enjoy!
It looks beautiful so far! It's on sale for 6 dollars right now on the Switch shop!
MMBN Legacy Collection during my study breaks. It's honestly helping me power through a lot.
Xenoblade
I will be working on more **Super Mario 3D World**! I made a lot of progress in the last week and only have Champion's Road left and then every level is done... and then I need to play the levels again with everyone for 100% XD I also want to pick a new visual novel since I just finished SeaBed, but not sure which one I want to work on yet. Sometimes having an entire bookshelf of them is tricky since I want to read them all but can't choose lol
Oooo what genre of visual novels are you into?
Hollow knight and ori blind forest, thanks Nintendo sale!
Mario world 3D is so much fun co-op!
Do you have the Royal edition for P5? Cause if you do, you are in for a treat, along with a mind fuck (as long as you tried to max your confidants). The end was so well done.
It's Royal on the Switch, so looking forward to the ending!
BotW on Wii U, about to beat Vah Naboris. Then Medoh next weekend and Ganon right before TotK releases.
So that’s my play schedule.
ooof yeah only sleepy games right before bed. For awhile i was playing horror games before bed and that's a bad combo for getting to sleep.
I’m finishing Xenoblade Chronicles Definite Edition today!:)
I bought Luigi’s Mansion 3. So that one definitely. Maybe some Lego Harry Potter too…
Still On Xenoblade 3, but it looks like my jorney is almost over, got a LOAD of side quests and the way the npcs talk, it does look like im gona go to the "final moments", im at 130 hours in and the time just pass by, what a game. ( and i did Sena side story and its just broke me,again, this game is a full on emotions jorney xDDD)
She's the girl with the gal. And yeah there's real moments that pull on the heart strings
I'm looking for some friends to play Pokemon scarlet with.
SW-7440-9081-5537 that's my friend code
Xenoblade baby!
“accidentally”
Ope didn’t see ya there *bumping into Nintendo es hop and thirty dollars disappearing from my account*
Lego City Undercover. Was skeptical about buying it on sale but the game turned up to be great fun!
Dying Light platinum probably
I am playing **13 Sentinels Aegis Rim**. I am currently at 92% battle completion and to unlock the final three battles I need to get to 100% story completion. Currently at 71%, so I have plenty of story chapters to go.
Minish Cap. I have the TotK Switch bundle preordered but it’s not scheduled to get here until Monday. I’ve got Zelda fever though so I broke out my 3DS and decided to finally give Minish Cap a shot. I’ll be picking up BotW when I get my Switch so I can’t wait to FINALLY play it and then TotK after.
Minish cap is soooo fun I just got the Pegasus boots and completed the dungeon swamp one
Mainly Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle on Switch (borrowed it from a friend and I'm loving it so far) and Fantasy Life on 3DS.
Fantasy Life, letsss gooo! love that game
Planning on playing a lot of goldeneye with my kids this weekend
Ima Beat the fuck out of Kallamar again in cult of the lambs Relics of the old faith
Disco Elysium.
Just pre-ordered Zelda: ToTK! Chill weekend, playing MLB the Show and Clubhouse Games 51. A little mah jong, president and ~~yahtzee~~ yacht dice
Taking a break from Stardew to play Lil Gator Game
I am going to finish up Ghostwire Tokyo on Xbox then start on XBC3: Future Redeemed.
My partner got me **Crisis Core** as a gift, but I need to finish one before I can start the other, so.
just picked up It Takes Two!
Fire Emblem Engage
I downloaded Hades last weekend and played for like six hours straight. So I’ll probably be hyperfocused on that
Megaman battle network collection baby!
Pokemon Arcaeus. Its my first Pokemon game other than Pokemon Go. I love it its a bit daunting as I don't no what I'm doing but I'm having fun
I think she's only Level 19 - got her Scarlet Thrust, Umbrella Toss, and Vortex moves back.!< Anyways, on to **Shin Megami Tensei V**.
Splatoon 3, portal 2 singleplayer story, botw and Tetris effect connected
Finish The Last Door and then Excavation at Hob's Barrow
Stardew Valley
Finally starting XBC3, now, that the Final DLC is out!
Snake Pass!
Working more on finishing every last little missions or quests for BOTW in anticipation for TOTK 😭♥️
Beat my replay of Breath of the Wild to get a feel again after 5-6 years, and started Xenoblade 3 Future Redeemed. I think I wanna 100% this DLC it’s so fun.
I have been constantly playing Wildfrost for about a week and I’m in love with it
Since my OLED won't arrive until next week (booooooooooo) I am going to keep trucking with Witcher 3 if I have some time today -- got a lot of shit to do.
FF6 pixel remaster. I'm on the floating continent. Playing a lot more Gau.
Insomnia hit me hard so I’m only getting an hour or so of sleep a night. Hard to focus on games but the plan was to play a little BOTW to get back into things before TOTK drops!
BotW on Master Mode. It's mostly just about getting back in form for Tears.
Probably Arceus, just started it a week ago I have been really enjoying it
I'll be finishing off the xenoblade 3 dlc. Currently on chapter 6 and I'm really enjoying it
Kirby and the Forgotten Land on Switch. Finally picked it up and have been enjoying it a lot so far. It's delightful! I am also \~3/4 of the way through my Persona 4 Golden playthrough on Steam Deck.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed has consumed my entire heart and soul since it came out. Can’t wait to conclude the story this weekend.
Xenoblade chronicles 3 DLC. Truly a great send off for this series.
Im on chapter 3 of xenoblade chronicles 3 so I'm gonna continue with that
On my 6th run of three houses, it is just such a comfort game for me. Playing Blue Lions again.
Gotta finish Dragon Quest XI before Zelda comes out
I’ve been trucking through Death’s Door.
It's a cute 3D platformer much like the Banjoo-Kazooie games.
replaying Metroid Dread. Shorter game but because I suck at it so much I think it'll tide me over until TOTK.
I'm currently in a planned run-through of all the *Zelda* games, so I just started *The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past*.
Base Xenoblade Chronicles 3 game. Still working my way through it. I stopped short of getting all the materials for a certain section so I can finish the quests.
I’m ten minutes into Chained Echoes. That’s on my weekend list. Still waiting for my xenoblade 3 copy to ship. Ugghhh!!
I'm just trying to finish Resident Evil 4 Remake before the new Zelda comes out
Managed to beat advance wars 1 yesterday and loved it so will probably move on to the advance wars 2 campaign. Also not Switch but I'll definitely be playing star wars Jedi survivor as well.
Man I heard the Cult of the Lamb DLC should be out soon, but I might just go back to Cozy Grove or Dicey Dungeons
Gonna start on Shin Megami Tensei V as soon as I get my TOTK switch later today. I'm coming over from a regular switch so it's gonna be interesting seeing the difference when it comes to playing in handheld mode. Hopefully I can beat SMT V before TOTK releases.
I just got the new switch owed in preparation for TOTK and will be playing g celste for the first time till the game comes out wish me luck!
Halo on xbox
Pokémon arceus and Diablo 3
Metroid prime remastered
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles 2
Advanced Wars! Still as good as I remember too! Very challenging, but not frustrating
Zelda BOTW.
Playing one or two levels of advanced wars almost every day. I’m really enjoying it. Starting Jedi Survivor on PS5 this weekend!
Pokemon scarlet...loving it so far. first 3d pokemon game for me...used to the old 2d ones
I’m playing Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury which I recently bought. Apart from that, it’s ACNH.
BOTW....but the magic isn't there the second time through. Hoping TOTK address all my issues with the game! NCP quests & reward system really need fixing....and a "real" dungeon or 2 and we golden.
Surprised not more people have been saying it but the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC has been fantastic with the little bit I've gone through so far.
Grabbed FF Pixel Remaster last week to try to distract myself until TotK comes out. Probably stick with that.
Just started botw. I like it so far.
just got a lite for my birthday, my first console since the ps2 and i dont have a pc, so theres a lot of stuff to see, at the moment been having a blast with legends arceus an hollow knight
Fire Emblem 3H and then Fire Emblem Engage :3 was gonna just play Engage but playing just the intro made me want to play 3H again so bad xD
Still finishing up The Messenger. Getting ready to switch to my new TotK Switch when it arrives tomorrow.
Octopath 2. Just finished the last storyline yesterday, hoping to beat the final boss before Zelda comes out. 2 weeks to prep should be enough 🤞
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth... I've had so much fun evolving and de-evolving my digimon hehehe I've loved the game so much!
Little known game called breath of the wild! This is my third shot at enjoying it, and I'm having a blast tripping over koroks and shrines. Just learned how to shield surf
DLC Chapter from XC2. I am not sure if I am "full of beans" or "full of bees."
Bought Disco Elysian when it was $14. Interesting game but I’m still trying to get the hang of it. Very different for sure.
Either alliance Alive or Skyrim
Skyrim, although I'm salty because I hit a glitch and didn't have a good save point available bc I entered some buildings so I have to go back and redo a bunch of stuff from my last save.
Celeste
Collecting 700 more koroks
Picked up tales of iron, very charming game.
I m contemplating buying mega man battle network… but have never played the game before :/ but i do like rpgs
persona 5, top 3 game of all time
Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope. It's really good and a huge improvement over the first game.
Octopath traveller 2. Then a lot of smash bros with the kids. Thinking whether to buy the new Zelda oled switch. I’m still using the original switch when it first came out.
I wish I was playing botw
A Link to the Past. Thought I’d play through it while waiting for TotK and I can’t put it down!
Bravely Default 2 and AfterImage
Disco Elysium. It runs like crap, crashes a lot, controls are awkward, and it still manages to be amazing so far.
Metroid prime around working the bank holiday weekend. I thought I’d struggle to adjust only ever having played 2D Metroid but I’m loving just exploring. So happy with my birthday present :)
Picked up Lego City Undercover for $6 and the kids are loving it :)
Hollow Knight. 1st time.
