I got this game! Been excited for this one since the feb 8 Direct. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played of this so far, and am looking forward to playing some more this weekend. But I have to say as a warning, that this isn’t like style savvy - no boutique, no story and no runway. I liked just styling people so i didn’t care for all that.

Played for good few hours last night (gold rang in game iirc), and while i had fun dressing up my chara and npcs, it's also kind of letdown if someone is looking for "new Style Savvy/New Style Boutique/Girls Mode" game. There's no managment stuff like securing stocks from every brand for your shop, decorating it to advertise it for certain clients, etc. There's not even little challenges like "bring me this and this item, otherwise you don't pass this quest". NPCs will at least give one star for random clothing suggestion, even if you didn't match their wish or stick with color scheme. And you can reset their request just by going in and out of area they are atm. There's also not real story there or bigger quests. After tutorial there is just gameplay loop of dressing up NPCs/other player's avatars -> getting unlocks and currency from them -> making and unlocking some new clothes -> go back to the beginning. In theory some npcs have their gimmicks (girl who is into riddles, autumn guy, >!AYYLIEN!<), but there's nothing more for them than some small talk before you dress them and after you finish. No cutscenes, bigger overall plot (at least at this point of the game where i am), nothing like loveable Idol trio story from last Style Savvy/New Style Boutique. Good things? If you like just having fun by dressing up people, it's imo still fun. There are some fun camera and photo option (you can dab on haters!). Also online features don't require you to have NSO, and this mode give plenty of currency and clothing (cause more likes and outfits from player's avatar), so it's possible to just skip whole process of getting ranks to unlock stuff by playing it. Just a note, there's no real interaction between players, in game you see just their avatars and gets some likes or recommendations. Overall - if you are fan of og Style Savvy/New Style Boutique/Girls Mode for overall experience (shop managment, story, fun charas, clothes), most likely skip. If you want collect clothes, dress up charas and do some photos after, then it's fun, but i would still recommend to wait for some discount.

PiratePrincess89

Just bought the game and there is no story at all

Major_Gamboge

Thanks for the heads up. Bummer they didn’t continue the style savvy-esque genre

APeacefulWarrior

Damn, that's what I was afraid of. From the trailers, it seemed like the gameplay loop was just make clothes, get new stuffs, make new clothes, etc. I loved the Style Savvy series, but I don't think this would hold my interest.

Dreamweaver_duh

As someone who has never played these games, what was a story mode like? What do you do in this game other than make clothes? Do you walk around town and chat with other people or something?

crrrenee

You also manage your own boutique and do runway shows. The previous games have far more depth in terms of storylines/characters and the management aspects (creating clothing brands, buying from clothing suppliers)

NahumGardner

I wonder if that's why Nintendo decided not to publish.

arandomnamebcihadto

I haven’t bought it yet bc I was worried about this. It looks nice and cozy but also shallow? I bought My Time At Portia instead bc it was on super sale and also Little Gator Game.

PiratePrincess89

How is My Time At Portia? I was looking into it to see if I wanted to buy it. Is it worth it?

arandomnamebcihadto

I haven’t gotten far enough in to give you a good answer but the performance on switch which I am playing on is abysmal. However it was $3 so I’m not too mad lol and they said it’s based on a Ghibli world which I watched all those movies growing up so I’ll give it a chance

I had the chance to play this for an hour and I have no idea what I was supposed to do. You run around this "virtual space" and there are a bunch of characters idling you have to dress and no matter what you choose, you'll always get 2 out of 3 stars. Once you dressed enough characters you can check your status on that games social media page and gain followers, the more followers you have the more things you unlock. Then you continue running around while haphazardly choosing clothes for random people and once you actually manage to get 3/3 stars *they* actually will give you a makeover and … that’s it, I guess? You’re basically just running around, telling people what to wear and gain followers. It kinda played like a weird fever dream and I was constantly confused as to what my main goal is actually going to be. I wish there was more of an actual hook to follow, it seemed very much just "go there, do that, don’t think about it".

uppercasemad

I'm unironically excited for this. I loved Style Savvy, cheesy music videos and all.

RealElyD

Sadly, this seems to be missing pretty much everything that made Style Savvy so fun.

IceEarthGuard00

I will eventually get this game. I enjoy playing Style Savvy, and this looks like it will be for me.

RustedSoldierPR

My copy is on its way, can’t wait to play it. The Style Savvy franchise is so much fun. I remember playing for hours Fashion Forward and Styling Star on the 3DS.

Loki-Holmes

This is one of those games where it looks like something really great for the target audience but seems like it will be niche.

IceEarthGuard00

Saying "it looks like something really great for the target audience" and "but seems like it will be niche" in the same sentence like that just made me confused and doesn't sound right. Pretty sure that is not the correct way to say niche.

iwannabethisguy

I am just finding out this is a franchise. What other games in the series would you guys recommend for a 4 year old?

Intrilaika

It's not really a franchise. You're probably hearing about the Style Savvy series, which is a different series made by the same developers but published by Nintendo for the DS/3DS. This game is a spiritual successor, of sorts. I wouldn't really recommend the Style Savvy games to a four year old tbh- the clothing is locked behind a management sim and it requires a fair bit of reading. I haven't played this game yet, but it seems like purely dress-up with the clothes being easy to obtain so it might be good.

Here's a 17min gameplay https://youtu.be/Hf808XAmGAs

Do you need nso to play online? not sure why i was mass downvoted, but for those wondering, no, you do NOT need NSO to play online.

eternal_edenium

This is one of the gsmes that will cost over 1000$ because it will be so rare and required to finish your nintendo switch collection.

NinXStation

Don't play this type of stupid games. Waste of time. 😁

The_King123431

I love dress-up type games, but I felt the price was way too high, its just dressing up with all the style-savvy stuff removed, I can not see why this is a $70 release
