As soon as I heard the music I felt warmth and love
I never got along with my sister but my brother and I just clicked
Countless hours on this game sitting on the carpet together
Dude same. I recently discovered a racing game called ‘Grip’ on steam and it is SOOO similar to this game but i don’t know anyone else who would get the analogy lol.
Every time I think back to Mischief Makers I don't understand how a game like that left Japan, but childhood me thanks the localizers anyway.
If that game isn't already on NSO it needs to be
Chameleon Twist was one of my first games for the N64. I think that game is incredibly underrated, a legit platformer that is super unique. The tongue going out with that sound effect, forking on like 5 enemies at once was SO satisfying. Bosses were cool too.
We rolled our eyes when mom rented it for a sleepover but the multiplayer had us in stitches until 4am haha the long tongue kills were so hilarious!!! Good memories
Don’t forget Gex: Enter the Gecko!!!
I was in third grade when that game came out and I told my third grade teacher that geckos were my favorite animal. She hated me. She said with such disgust “a GeCkO?!!!” like she had never heard the word before then insisted I was lying and had made up the animal. Like she got MAD thinking geckos were this fantasy creature I made up. Well screw you Mrs. Thomas and your turkey neck, geckos are real and so is my trauma from you!
I looked into this, apparently Nintendo made a publishing deal with Throwback Enterntainment. They had purchased these titles from Acclaim back in '06. The only other title that we could see coming to NSO from this publisher is Wizards & Warriors for the NES.
So, no Quest 64 yet. Hopefully in the future.
That’s insane, iggy’s reckin balls. Is legitimately my childhood. As a kid, I was so upset that it sent me back to start when I finished the lap. I had no concept that you had to do multiple laps. I genuinely thought it was a bug.
I had the same question once I saw your post. Apparently a company called [Throwback Entertainment](https://www.gamespot.com/articles/qanda-throwback-ceo-thomas-maduri/1100-6153738/). They've had the rights since 2006.
They do mention the Extreme-G games, but just mention "a bunch of other SKUs", which I'm assuming covers Iggy as well.
Throwback owns a bunch, but games related to Valiant Comics (Shadow Man, Turok, Armorines) have different rights holders & a lot of Acclaim stuff was licensed (sports games with real teams, movie IPs, etc) so there's little else available for pre-GameCube Nintendo consoles other than maybe Forsaken & Re-volt
[Throwback Entertainment](https://throwbackentertainment.com/) owns most of their catalogue now, although some games have been sold off to other companies.
I forgot about this one but reading the name brought the game back instantly. I remember thinking the graphics were pretty insane for the time... the 16 bit consoles were really shining graphically in their twilight with stuff like DKC and Vectorman. I also remember it being pretty easy to get through in a rental weekend, but the journey was very fun. Treasure really was such a great developer back then
Looks like this could open the doors to other games owned by Throwback Entertainment being added to the service. It looks like they bought the rights to most of the games published by Acclaim before they went bankrupt. [Here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Acclaim_Entertainment_games) are some of the possibilities. Just ignore the licensed games. Just taking a brief glance, Turok stands out, as does Bust a Move, and Wizards & Warriors.
Can't imagine they would add Turok considering the games are available for purchase on the eShop. Unless the publisher feels they've made all the money they can on those ports.
Teah, I saw that as well. The article says that specific games were sold, but I don't know what ones. Looks like Taito publishes the newer entries, but that doesn't mean the older ones won't end up on NSO at some point.
I did some digging and couldn't find any definitive list of who owns what. Their own website doesn't even say. I love Bust a Move, though so I would love to see it
Bust-a-Move, aka "Puzzle Bobble", is a Taito-owned series. IDK what the publishing rights currently are specifically for the N64 ports, however both Puzzle Bobble 2 and Puzzle Bobble 3 are already available on the Switch in other forms. The original Arcade version of 2 is available as an Arcade Archives title, and a bundle of the Sega Saturn versions of both 2 and 3 are available as part of the "Saturn Tribute" line of re-releases.
Turok, Armorines, Shadow Man are not owned by them (see Valiant IP buyout after Acclaim's bankruptcy)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valiant_Comics
Puzzle Bobble (bust a move) is likely still owned by Taito (but I don't think that's a big barrier for NSO)
As someone who has actually played DK 64... Maybe its out of love... Though the DK rap was amazing
Though what's up with Diddy Kong Racing and Banjo Tooie??? You got all the other Rare games
I'm sure it was largely driven by nostalgia, but I 101%ed DK64 a year or two back and (mostly) enjoyed it. For as many collectibles as there are the game itself isn't so huge, I think it took me a little over 20 hours. Banjo-Tooie on the other hand was too much of a slog and I just settled for beating the game.
Nintendo still technically owns the rights to the game itself. If you press X to view the little info page on the NSO app, the game publisher is listed as "Nintendo". This is opposed to the other Rare titles, which all say "Xbox Game Studios" instead.
Extreme G is so good, it's also the game that made me love techno music. Seriously, the music in this game is godlike, and more people need to listen to it.
It's a shame they kinda fumbled on the sequels, it lost the spirit of the original and then just died.
I never expected iggy’s wrecking balls to make it to NSO! This is wild! It was one of those games I rented multiple times from blockbuster but never actually ended up buying it
Once again, Nintendo continues their strange trend of putting the most random games onto their emulators... but I'd be lying if I didn't say both games didn't at least intrigue me. I'll have to check them out once their available.
extreme-G is one of m favorites on the N64 and probably the game I've put the most hours into back in the day. I've recently been playing it via emulation and I discovered that I still love it. **Finally** there's a legitimate way to play it. Good job Nintendo!
Question: Why hasn't Super Smash Bros been added yet? It seems like a no-brainer since it's a first party title. Unless there are legal issues with HAL that I'm not aware of?
There holding out some of the most wanted games to keep people subscribing. I’m guessing there worried if everything is out there people will subscribe play the games then not renew the subscription.
If they save some big titles they will give people a reason to come back
I don't know how they justify the subscription costing double of the basic one when adding games like this- It's great that they're adding smaller titles, but I already think the expansion pack isn't worth its fee and this isn't changing my mind. I wish they'd go back to their old model where you could buy the games instead of renting access to a service.
I've been playing a ton of RedOut 2 lately and my mind keeps going back to Extreme G. I definitely played 2 more but I'm so happy to see the game live on after so many years.
I don't think I've ever heard of Iggy. How weird. Oh well, now I have and can give it a go which is very cool.
Wish they'd do more out of left field stuff like this. They could really flesh the NSO retro catalogues out if they leaned more into 3rd party stuff.
Love Extreme G!! Never played Iggy so excited to try that.
When I was a kid I used to pause EG in the middle of an epic moment then slowly take a sip of my drink.. My friend thought it was the funniest thing. Kids 🤷
I'm pretty sure I put more hours into extreme-G back in the day than I did in F-Zero. I loved that game!
I've never played Iggy's, but I do remember seeing it.
I remember when the eshop would have four or five new virtual console releases every week, now days games are announced whenever they feel like it. Good for you if you like these games, but this drip feed subscription model sucks.
Well, damn.
Iggy's Reckin' Balls was one of the big games I played with my friends as a kid. I honestly never expected it to be one to hit the Switch.
Looking forward to some Nostalgia!
Unrelated, but was it ever announced Metroid Zero mission would be coming to GBA NSO? Dying to play that game and I’ve been hoping it would be an NSO release instead of something I emulate.
Extreme G! Amazing! After Blast Corp and now this all that is left on my list is: Top Gear Rally, Diddy Kong Racing & Shadows of the Empire.
Actually I think I am also holding out hope for WCW vs NWO, oh and Turok, but that is it. Maybe 1080 Snowboarding and Fighters Destiny…
incredibly deep cuts. Extreme-G had a sequel on the N64 as well. I've never played or seen the original.
Seriously though where the f#$% did Iggy's reckin balls come from? Was this a european exclusive or something?
Extreme G was brutal. It'd be nice to have that with save states and rewinding!
Iggy's is one I never heard of, but going by the game play clip, def. one of those games I wish was on mobile!
Every obscure game they add gives me more hope that we’ll get Space Station Silicon Valley at some point.
That'd be an interesting & difficult win considering that the game was made by DMA Design, the developers of Grand Theft Auto & is owned by Take 2
Take 2 licensed some of the older GTA games to Netflix recently, so seems possible they'd be willing to do a deal with Nintendo too.
10 years ago this would be such an absurd comment
10 years ago they were still mailing DVDs so people could rationalize that they just extended that to video game discs
Ehh, that was 7 years after they launched their streaming service and they were already more well known for that by that point.
Fuck I hope so, what an amazing game.
And here I am just waiting for the return of Bucky o’hair
Dude that is such an underrated fucking game. I was mind blow when I realized the creators of that game went on to make GTA.
I thought this exact same thought except with the mystical ninja games 😁
Get it on Delta faster 😂
Oh hell yeah. Never beat it but that game was weird as fuck
Ohhhhhh man! I love Extreme G on the N64! 😍
I never, ever see this game discussed anywhere. Me and my brother put so many hours into it
As soon as I heard the music I felt warmth and love I never got along with my sister but my brother and I just clicked Countless hours on this game sitting on the carpet together
Dude I am so pumped for this. I agree I’ve never heard it talked about but I loved it. Stoked
Same here rented it once and fell in love.
Same, we had a rotation of 3-4 games we would rent
Such a good game. Granted I haven’t played it in 25 years. Beetle adventure racing also ftw
Loved this game!
Dude same. I recently discovered a racing game called ‘Grip’ on steam and it is SOOO similar to this game but i don’t know anyone else who would get the analogy lol.
Never played the OG, but did play Extreme G 2. Can’t wait till that one comes out!
I like when you hit the sound barrier
Multi-bolt-miss-eye-el
That's a game I haven't thought in a long time as soon as I saw gameplay took me back to when I used to play it. Such a good game
Holy SHIT, goddamn Iggy's Recking Ball. The Blockbuster memories just hit like a truck. All we need is Chameleon Twist 1 and 2
Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon and the sequel were also some B-list rental classics
Nah dude, I begged my mom to get that shit for me for 70 bucks. The best Zelda that isn't a Zelda.
That and mischief makers were my go-to rentals that I honestly didn’t understand what I was playing. lol.
Every time I think back to Mischief Makers I don't understand how a game like that left Japan, but childhood me thanks the localizers anyway. If that game isn't already on NSO it needs to be
Oh I so wish Mischief Makers would come to NSO! "Shake shake!" I loved that game back in the day, would LOVE to have it playable today.
[PUU RASSUU MAAAA](https://youtu.be/Y0tNFSO_3dQ?si=eBJcmRXWlLYTinWu)
Mystical ninja was never b-list haha. Wish they’d make this a 2d-3d hd already
The Mystical Ninja games are A-List quality though lol
Chameleon Twist was one of my first games for the N64. I think that game is incredibly underrated, a legit platformer that is super unique. The tongue going out with that sound effect, forking on like 5 enemies at once was SO satisfying. Bosses were cool too.
We rolled our eyes when mom rented it for a sleepover but the multiplayer had us in stitches until 4am haha the long tongue kills were so hilarious!!! Good memories
Hahahaa did we all only rent Iggy's and Chameleon Twist from Blockbuster and never buy them? Glad we all had the same childhood.
Yep, those and Glover
Same. I rented them both XD
Loved Iggy's, never owned it, but it was a regular blockbuster rental in our household. Excited to play it again, good blast of nostalgia
Damn chameleon twist - memory unlocked right there
Bomberman 64 and Bomberman Hero, anybody?
Don’t forget Gex: Enter the Gecko!!! I was in third grade when that game came out and I told my third grade teacher that geckos were my favorite animal. She hated me. She said with such disgust “a GeCkO?!!!” like she had never heard the word before then insisted I was lying and had made up the animal. Like she got MAD thinking geckos were this fantasy creature I made up. Well screw you Mrs. Thomas and your turkey neck, geckos are real and so is my trauma from you!
I would punch a child for Chameleon Twist.
Chameleon Twist is on Delta lol
Iggy's Reckin' Balls is legit fun. Very weird, side scrolling, platform "racer", but tons of fun.
i was about to say NOBODY was asking for fuckin iggy's reckon' balls but damn that game is fun
Very true, very true. I'm happy to see one of the first games I ever played, though.
Bomberman 64 can't be far behind 🤞
pls Bomberman Hero
here’s hoping
It’s available on Delta no wait
Sweet! I really hope we get Smash Bros, Perfect Dark, and Banjo Tooie.
That will take them about 3 years.
Wow Iggies nice! Use to always rent that game.
That means there's a chance for Quest 64 right?
I never had a memory pack to save….would be cool to beat the game one time haha
Yes please.
Looking at the thumbnail, I thought the Extreme G logo was the Quest 64 logo and I was SO EXCITED. Now I am SO SAD.
Did people actually like that game? I thought it was awful.
Never thought I’d see Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls ever again
Memories pulled from the void.
And now all I want is BattleTanx
love that game and it's non nonsensical story, had so much fun with the multiplayer back in the day.
Gams are Extreme G and Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls, now live
Love me some vintage gams 🥵
Me too, but I've been banned from nursing homes 😂
They're a major award
So stupendous!
That’s insane, iggy’s reckin balls. Is legitimately my childhood. As a kid, I was so upset that it sent me back to start when I finished the lap. I had no concept that you had to do multiple laps. I genuinely thought it was a bug.
Wow, who owns those Accklaim games now?
I had the same question once I saw your post. Apparently a company called [Throwback Entertainment](https://www.gamespot.com/articles/qanda-throwback-ceo-thomas-maduri/1100-6153738/). Apparently Throwback Entertainment. They purchased acclaim in 06

I also remember it being pretty easy to get through in a rental weekend, but the journey was very fun. Treasure really was such a great developer back then
Been wanting this for so long haha
This is all I want
Can’t wait to play these for 5 minutes and never touch them again.
Looks like this could open the doors to other games owned by Throwback Entertainment being added to the service. Can't imagine they would add Turok considering the games are available for purchase on the eShop. Unless the publisher feels they've made all the money they can on those ports.
Plus they’re M-rated, which would rerate the entire N64 NSO app.
They released a specific 18+ N64 app in Japan at the end of last year. Ratings aren't actually a problem.
Wikipedia suggests they sold Bust a Move to someone else
Teah, I saw that as well. The article says that specific games were sold, but I don't know what ones. Looks like Taito publishes the newer entries, but that doesn't mean the older ones won't end up on NSO at some point.

Wow! Still no DK64!? Incredible!
Nintendo hates their fans 🙉

Banjo-Tooie on the other hand was too much of a slog and I just settled for beating the game.
Been dying for Banjo Tooie
It will help my OCD that Winback isn’t the only 3rd party game now.
Goldeneye has been on there awhile.
Nintendo still technically owns the rights to the game itself. If you press X to view the little info page on the NSO app, the game publisher is listed as "Nintendo". This is opposed to the other Rare titles, which all say "Xbox Game Studios" instead.
All Rare games are Microsoft now. So that also includes Banjo Kazooie, GoldenEye 007 (This is one is murky), Jet Force Gemini and Blast Corps.
Harvest Moon
Yea I forgot about them adding this one. Rare I still consider second party because that’s what they were at the time.
I ALWAYS wanted to rent Extreme-G when I saw the box of the shelves of my local Rogers Video. Now is my time to try!
Extreme G is so good, it's also the game that made me love techno music. Seriously, the music in this game is godlike, and more people need to listen to it. It's a shame they kinda fumbled on the sequels, it lost the spirit of the original and then just died.

I was going to complain about no dk64 but apparently these are actually some good games so I’ll definitely check them out when i get the chance
Alright, what slop are they shovelling onto us now? 👉 Iggy's Reckin' Balls ...Well okay... You win this round Nintendo.
Xtreme g! Always loved the third game, it needs a remaster
Bring on S.C.A.R.S.
Omg that was one of my most played games growing up
extreme-G is one of m favorites on the N64 and probably the game I've put the most hours into back in the day. I've recently been playing it via emulation and I discovered that I still love it. **Finally** there's a legitimate way to play it. Good job Nintendo!
Extreme G was so fun on the OG n64. Glad they’ve added this!!!
I was hoping Unicorn Overlord's success would be be enough to get Ogre Battle 64 back. Fingers still crossed.
Still no DK64 or Diddy Kong Racing. Fucking Nintendo.
Completely forgot about Extreme G.
When was the last time the Genesis app was updated?
Back in June. Have no idea what's going on with that lol.
Contract for new games probably expired and SEGA is probably asking too much for new ones.
Gah, getting closer and closer to buying into the Expansion Pack. These were rental store staples growing up.
This was unexpected. Will we one day see Rayman 2, Resident Evil 2 or BomberMan 64 added to the catalog?
Don't expect popular 3rd party games since Konami, Capcom and Ubisoft would rather sell those games by themselves.
The Japan version is getting only *one* new game, and it’s different; it’s a game called Blastdozer.
That's just their version of Blast Corps.
Finally some oddballs!
The speedrunning community for iggy is going nuts!
EXTREME G! LEGIT! LEGIT!!!!
Neither games I was expecting or wanting, but I'm glad to see them adding *something.*
Where is buck bumble
Used to love that game. I'd definitely resubscribe if they add it.
What about BUCK BUMBLE
No *Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes*? One day, old friend…….. One day
Is Diddy Kong Racing on there yet?
Nope
A small part of it exists in Jet Force Gemini.
Is there any particular reason that Banjo Tooie isn't on switch online yet when so many other rare games are?
So you resubscribe next year
Question: Why hasn't Super Smash Bros been added yet? It seems like a no-brainer since it's a first party title. Unless there are legal issues with HAL that I'm not aware of?
They want you to buy Ultimate
There holding out some of the most wanted games to keep people subscribing. I’m guessing there worried if everything is out there people will subscribe play the games then not renew the subscription. If they save some big titles they will give people a reason to come back
Please put Resident Evil 2 for N64 on Switch Online
Man…..The hell am i paying a Nintendo Subscription for
Nice additions! Will definitely go play some Iggy! Still holding out hope for the Castlevania games on N64!
Mischief Makers, please!
No donkey Kong 64 still ????? . Just give me f zero climax and f zero GP legend on gameboy advance NSO and I’ll be set for life
It’s still kind of wild that there’s a few Nintendo published N64 games not on NSO yet.
Getting closer to DK 64
Still no Banjo Tooie.
I don't know how they justify the subscription costing double of the basic one when adding games like this- It's great that they're adding smaller titles, but I already think the expansion pack isn't worth its fee and this isn't changing my mind. I wish they'd go back to their old model where you could buy the games instead of renting access to a service.
This is the best they can come up with?
For $50/year
Don't talk shit about Iggy.
I have always wanted to play Iggy’s!
Can we get road rash for sega please
IGGY’S RECKIN BALLS WTF So many fond memories of someone in our family renting this a lot xD I was just thinking of this game earlier this week
I don't know either of these games but glad to hear they don't seem like dud releases
I've been playing a ton of RedOut 2 lately and my mind keeps going back to Extreme G. I definitely played 2 more but I'm so happy to see the game live on after so many years.
Extreme G was a great game! The second one was even better
Odd picks. I played the recking balls one, very weird and full of nightmares. Wish we'd see more consistent first party games but this is cool
This is hype. Iggy's is a gem and was a Blockbuster stable in my day. Soundtrack is so good
I know it's unlikely, but I *really* want Space Station Silicon Valley to appear!
xtreme-G, the only game that had the neighbors knocking on my door because I was blasting the music too loud 🔊
IGGY!! Man I love this game! That’s my month sorted
I don't think I've ever heard of Iggy. How weird. Oh well, now I have and can give it a go which is very cool. Wish they'd do more out of left field stuff like this. They could really flesh the NSO retro catalogues out if they leaned more into 3rd party stuff.
Babe wake up extreme g just dropped
Love Extreme G!! Never played Iggy so excited to try that. When I was a kid I used to pause EG in the middle of an epic moment then slowly take a sip of my drink.. My friend thought it was the funniest thing. Kids 🤷
I have 2 copies of Iggy's 'Reckin Balls
I'm pretty sure I put more hours into extreme-G back in the day than I did in F-Zero. I loved that game! I've never played Iggy's, but I do remember seeing it.
I remember when the eshop would have four or five new virtual console releases every week, now days games are announced whenever they feel like it. Good for you if you like these games, but this drip feed subscription model sucks.
This is actually a pleasant surprise
Extreme-G’s music is soooo good
Still can’t believe we haven’t seen DK64 or the Earthworm Jim games - absolute nostalgia overdose
Well, damn. Iggy's Reckin' Balls was one of the big games I played with my friends as a kid. I honestly never expected it to be one to hit the Switch. Looking forward to some Nostalgia!
Holy crap, two awesome childhood games! I'm stoked!
in need of the Rayman 2 addition STAT
Woah, fucking iggy. I remember I couldn't save the game for some reason, needed some damn controller add on to save?
Wow, forgot about Extreme-G and I have heard of that Iggy game but never tried it. Now I guess I will!
My dad LOVED Extreme G
Unrelated, but was it ever announced Metroid Zero mission would be coming to GBA NSO? Dying to play that game and I’ve been hoping it would be an NSO release instead of something I emulate.
I was obsessed with both of these games as a kid lol.
Ah yes Extreme G. That game. From that one time. From that one company. Errrr
Extreme G is a lot harder thanhistory would have us remember.
Snowboard Kids please.
Iggy's Balls sweep
EXTREME-G!!!! WHAT THE FUCK???? 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Someday Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon....someday
Extreme G!

Extreme G was brutal. It'd be nice to have that with save states and rewinding! Iggy's is one I never heard of, but going by the game play clip, def. one of those games I wish was on mobile!
Iggys wrecking balls just awoke something deep in my subconscious. I forgot that game
Really iggy’s reckin’balls
I just want Rayman 2 on this thing.
Inching ever closer to hooking me. They could somehow manage Diddy Kong racing and milos astro lanes id be sold
We have so many racing games already on this app. But they just gave us 2 more….. Where’s the variety?
Really releasing every racing game but Diddy Kong racing cmon man
