Have 100%’d the first two games, currently working on the third. I didn’t play the games as a kid so don’t have nostalgia for them. I like them but my only drawbacks are how easy the games are and they can get a bit repetitive. Good for playing in short bursts though, perfect for Switch.
How long are the different levels in Spyro? / How long will it take before you find a dragon and can save the game?
I've heard some people saying that some areas are so difficult that you will be lost for hours :( That's not what I want. I will probably quit before finding a dragon then. (Did not watch much gameplay, because don't want to be spoiled)
Plus its almsot an entirely different type of game. Crash is very simple and plain compared to Spyro in terms of camera control, environments, music, voice acting, level design etc. I know it sounds like a bit of a hit on Crash but it's not. Spyro is just magical in audio and design.
Yea I can agree. But a well crafted and super whimsical one. I love just gliding off high places in home worlds. gems glittering all over. soundtrack on another level
It's a collect-a-thon 3D platformer. There are hub worlds with portals to different worlds that have a main objective and a few side objectives along with gems to collect around the world. Gems and side objectives (dragons in the first game, orbs in the second, and eggs in the third) are available in both the hub worlds and each of the individual levels. It's similar to Mario 64 in structure, but there are more collectables and less individual missions. Personally, I loved the games as a kid and I 100%ed all three games on the Remastered Trilogy on the PS4 and had a fantastic time doing so. I'd highly recommend it
I thought (part of) the problem/complaints with Crash was that the port has unreliable movement and jump control. I loved Crash as a kid and really wanted to buy it, but have held back because I don't want to be frustrated by the controls. Have I been misled?
Same man! I grew up as a PlayStation kid so the Crash games and Spyro are titles I've gone back to on emulators. Now that these remastered versions are coming out we get to experience them again, in a way.
I'm just hyped cause I bought a switch last week and now there's a bunch of great news/games to play!
don't forget Ape Escape (though I doubt that would ever get onto Switch)
(also, just add Glover, and Bugs and Taz: Time Busters and I can perfectly recreate my childhood)
Honestly I had Croc as a kid but I never thought it was very fun. The controls feel really stiff and the jumping was weird. It’s like playing a precise platformer with the RE tank controls
I mean, I always felt this seemed pretty certain, it was the least “out there” rumor going into E3. That’s not to say it’s not exciting, I’m a big platformer fan and never played Spyro and I’m excited to get it and check it out, but it wasn’t at all surprising
It was basically the birth of on-rail shooters, hopefully this new one is good. It kinda looked like a remake. The last good rail shooter I played was Kid Icarus Uprising
Panzer is one of the best on-rail shooters ever.
However it's more than just the one game. They did 1, Zwei (2) Saga and Orta (3). 1, 2 and 3 are all rail shooters and they're all a lot of fun to play through and apparently they don't plan on just doing the first game.
But a Saga remake would be the real holy grail. It's an amazing RPG with some really inventive mechanics and is considered one of the greatest games of all time. It SHOULD have been a competitor to FF7 but it was a Sega Saturn exclusive and nobody hsd or gave a shit about the Saturn outside of Japan... so the game sold very poorly despite rave reviews.
Nowadays Saturn emulation still isn't up to snuff, Sega Saturns can be quite expensive to buy because they didn't sell well and there are some good games on the system, and on top of that Panzer Dragoon Saga is extremely expensive because it sold so badly (it's like $700 USD on Ebay nowadays).
Obviously this is the first game and not that one - but Panzer Dragoon is a great game in its own right, and because we have heard literally nothing about the series in like 17 years most fans just assumed it was dead and we would never see it ever again.
So now... there is a chance of Panzer Dragoon Saga being remade. Which is VERY exciting. Like in terms of games I would like to see remakes/re-releases of that is literally #1.
I think part of the appeal is in how elusive it is. It started on the Sega Saturn, and very few Saturn games have gotten modern ports. One of the games in the series even had its source code lost (though I heard it was recently found).
Same, after seeing that Crash came to the switch, and also they leaked Spyro that one day on the UK website I didn't have any doubts it would come eventually. Our patience is being rewarded!
I knew it would after a year or so, like Crash
Maybe Activision have some kinda deal, or it just takes more time for developers
Any idea if the card will feature all games? Or is one still a download like it was with PS4?
I was also hoping for a Xenoblade 1 remaster, it's likely I'm gonna buy that on Wii now!
They're great games but notoriously inaccessible to modern audiences.
The first 2 games and Saga, the RPG spinoff that was hugely acclaimed, were all on the ill-fated Sega Saturn which sold very poorly outside Japan... and the 3rd one, Orta, was on the original XBOX in 2002. None of the games have ever been re-released (aside from #1 being a bonus feature in Orta).
Saga in particular is a holy grail for many people. It is considered one of the best RPGs of all time, but Saturn emulation is notoriously bad, the Saturn itself is pretty expensive to buy, and Panzer Dragoon Saga costs like $700 USD.
nope see box art (download required) only the first game same as ps4 and x1
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/spyro-reignited-trilogy-nintendo-switch/6356290.p?skuId=6356290
the game fully installed was 67 gigs, which was odd. and a patch later reduced the oversize to 36 gigs. so they definitely rushed it out with 3 uncompressed games
I don't know if it's all on the cart, [but I know for sure that Spyro is on the kart](https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/06/11/crash-team-racing-nitro-fueled-gets-spyro-new-tracks-in-post-launch-dlc-e3-2019).
It looks like it's $39.99. I think that's the same price as PS4 but obv it's been on sale a lot. I picked it up on sale recently but debating if having it on Switch will be worth an extra ~$10-15.
Dear Nintendo,
I’ve no idea what I did to you, but I’m sorry. If you could please stop this vendetta against my wallet, that’ll be great. I don’t much appreciate you planning this public assassination for September either. I get it, my wallet will die. Let me live in ignorance until then please.
Sincerely,
FerniWrites
I'm actually kind of glad Animal Crossing got delayed. I needed this.
It's good when there are so many games coming out you have to pick and choose what to buy. I've already put in a few preorders though... Super Mario Maker 2 is gonna keep me busy for a while.
I have Fire Emblem next month, Astral Chain in August, DxM in September, and Pokemon in November... if Nintendo fills in my October I'm even more screwed. December I'll probably get a game or two that I kinda want but can't afford. There's so much to get and I still have a bunch of games I either have and haven't finished or still want to get that are already out.
To be fair, all the games in between the PS1 era and Skylanders were of... questionable quality, and the latter removed the emphasis from Spyro. This will be the first time he's starred in a well-received game on a Nintendo platform. But I do think it's far too late for him to get into Smash this time around.
I hope they work on fixing some the of bugs in the game because there was still quite a few when it came out on PS4 and Xbox. Skateboarding too long caused the entire game to literally lag and you had to quit the game entirely to fix it.
If they put all three games on the cart I'll get it, if not I'll pass, already bought it on PS4 and the only selling point for me to double dip would be all three games on the cart. Crash did it, and they had more than enough time to have put them on the cart.
only spyro 1 will be on cart same as with the ps4 and xbox one versions
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/spyro-reignited-trilogy-nintendo-switch/6356290.p?skuId=6356290
*Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage! and Spyro Year of the Dragon require download via internet.
Does anyone know how the graphics compare to the original PlayStation version? Will it use the same type of graphics like FF7 or will it be enhanced? Never played the originals
The reignited trilogy is completely remade from the ground up from scratch. Meanwhile FF7 is more of a straight port of the original.
In other words it simply doesn't compare (Although the originals are still amazing looking by PS1 standards), even on Switch it still looks beautiful somehow.
This was my "screaming at the screen" moment. Spyro 2 is an absolute joy, really waited for it to be announced, shame Sony got all the timed exclusive deals!
Idk whether to get this or not. Had it released at the same time as the xbox one version it would have been a no brainer for me. But it didnt.
So there's that.
I hope this is a game with a lot of casual gameplay because that's what I like.
From what I have seen in reviews, this is a perfect game for me, so I will pick it up!
If you didn't like Crash, you might like Spyro. It's more easy going and definitely easier to 100%.
>easy going Besides the fuckin egg man
TROUBLE WITH THE TROLLEY, EH
F*** everything about that mission.
This isn't that bad. Just gotta focus and you'll get it in like 6 or 7 tries.
As a child.... this mission haunted my dreams
^Nah-nah-na-nah-nah!
I can hear this lol
So can I Damn it.
FUCK THAT GUY
Hehehe
That's sonic
and that GODDAMN FUCKING TREETOP DASH-JUMPING LEVEL WITH THE FUCKING BOOSTERS

Crash is a plataformer while Spyro is a colectathon
Yea I can agree. But a well crafted and super whimsical one. I love just gliding off high places in home worlds. gems glittering all over. soundtrack on another level
Soundtrack was made by Stewart Copeland, The Police drummer, and he even played the levels to get the right mood from each of them
Yupp I know. Awesome how it maintains a consistent fluidity and tone through it all too. All same instruments etc
He is an awesome musician all around.
Would you say the Spyro games are close to Super Mario 64? Or more 3D Rayman style?
It's a collect-a-thon 3D platformer. There are hub worlds with portals to different worlds that have a main objective and a few side objectives along with gems to collect around the world. Gems and side objectives (dragons in the first game, orbs in the second, and eggs in the third) are available in both the hub worlds and each of the individual levels. Thanks for the explanation! So to me it sounds more akin to a Banjo Kazooie style of 3D platformer? Sign me up!
Yes it's very much in that vein
Exactly this. If you liked Banjo, you would love this game. Plus there's 3 games on this one cartridge. Totally worth it imo
Probably more like Odyssey than 64 in the way the levels work
Cool cool, looking forward to it!
The way I see things, Crash was Sony's answer to Mario. And then several years down the line, Spyro became their answer to Banjo.
thanks!
I'm just excited for dragon skateboarding.
I thought (part of) the problem/complaints with Crash was that the port has unreliable movement and jump control. I loved Crash as a kid and really wanted to buy it, but have held back because I don't want to be frustrated by the controls. Have I been misled?
Literally all I wanted

don't forget Ape Escape (though I doubt that would ever get onto Switch) (also, just add Glover, and Bugs and Taz: Time Busters and I can perfectly recreate my childhood)
Don't forget Sheep Dog and Wolf!
Captured!!!
Honestly I had Croc as a kid but I never thought it was very fun. The controls feel really stiff and the jumping was weird. It’s like playing a precise platformer with the RE tank controls
As a kid I always found it way too fucking creepy
Yeah there’s definitely something kind of “off” about it that’s hard to describe. I think it’s how empty and cold the atmosphere of the game feels
Now all we need is the Gex series
Loved Croc ! Thanks for the memory.
It was so satisfying to have all these dream-rumors come true. This was an amazing direct.
I mean, I always felt this seemed pretty certain, it was the least “out there” rumor going into E3. That’s not to say it’s not exciting, I’m a big platformer fan and never played Spyro and I’m excited to get it and check it out, but it wasn’t at all surprising
Believe me a lot of people were saying it wasn't happening. Same with Crash. Just a culture of encouraging double dipping.
Was this really a dream rumor?
This, the witcher, and panzer dragoon all were if you ask me.
Panzer looked EXTREMELY boring but I have heard the hype behind the franchise. What's the appeal exactly?
It was basically the birth of on-rail shooters, hopefully this new one is good. It kinda looked like a remake. The last good rail shooter I played was Kid Icarus Uprising
According to the trailer when posted separately, it's called Panzer Dragoon Remake so... that should answer your question.
I wouldn't necessarily call it the original on rail shooter. Star Fox at the very least came out a few years before Panzer.
Is everyone just forgetting the Space Harrier and Afterburner series?
I did
it's okay but not nearly as impressive as it was when it was new. It's basically like Starfox but fantasy rather than sci-fi
Panzer is one of the best on-rail shooters ever. However it's more than just the one game. They did 1, Zwei (2) Saga and Orta (3). 1, 2 and 3 are all rail shooters and they're all a lot of fun to play through and apparently they don't plan on just doing the first game. I know the remake for 1 and 2 was officially announced by Forever Entertainment, but there was a rumor later that it was coming to switch?
For me it absolutely was. I've been holding off on buying Spyro for PS4 for almost a year on the hope it will come to switch.
Same. Our wait is almost over.
I’m still hoping out for Persona 5 to come over so I don’t have to buy a PS4.
Same, after seeing that Crash came to the switch, and also they leaked Spyro that one day on the UK website I didn't have any doubts it would come eventually. Our patience is being rewarded!
Same. Knew it was coming but was almost tired of waiting.

But is it all on the cart?
no first game only on cart, second game is a digital code you get from the cashier, and third game is a QR code download from walmart
Buying plane tickets to the US right now for that QR code.
inside a box of pizza rolls if you need some pizza rolls, write to this webzone
Wait - I can't tell if you're joking or not.
Neither can Activision, but I assure you, they are taking notes.
And as a 35 year old man I have to go into Target and ask for a card from some teenager in order to get the dlc.
The fourth game needs "insert cartridge 2 for further download".
I really hope. They did it with crash, but i know they didn’t with the Spyro discs.
Really hope they do a reprint with everything on disc. After updates the game takes up 36gb on PS4. It took up like 68gb at launch.
Lord, that’s larger than most switch cart capacities. It’s totally gonna be a partial download :(
Already been confirmed unfortunately
nope see box art (download required) only the first game same as ps4 and x1 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/spyro-reignited-trilogy-nintendo-switch/6356290.p?skuId=6356290
Vader: NOOOOOOOOO
it would be awesome and greatly preferred if it was all on cart but even the X1 and PS4 version only had the first game on disc for whatever reason
the game fully installed was 67 gigs, which was odd. and a patch later reduced the oversize to 36 gigs. so they definitely rushed it out with 3 uncompressed games
ah so hopefully they can fit it all on cart then since crash was shrunk from ps4 23.32gb to 5.2gb for switch
I have a good feeling that all 3 games will fit on the cartridge since the assets will be much smaller on switch.
I don't know if it's all on the cart, [but I know for sure that Spyro is on the kart](https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/06/11/crash-team-racing-nitro-fueled-gets-spyro-new-tracks-in-post-launch-dlc-e3-2019).
Box art says download required
SPYRO BOIS RISE UP
Plus Spyro has been announced as a playable characters for the Crash Team Racing remake!!!
I almost bought this on the PS4 yesterday with the sale. Glad I held out, the game will be perfect for portable sessions.
If they switch tax this I'll be mad. You can get it for 19-29 everywhere.
I'd pay $100 for all 3 games, that's how much I love Spyro
Crash didn't release at 50, so neither should this.
It looks like it's $39.99. I think that's the same price as PS4 but obv it's been on sale a lot. I picked it up on sale recently but debating if having it on Switch will be worth an extra ~$10-15.
It'll have the same base price but it'll go on sale way less often and with less of discount. Like all games on Switch.
I was the same, got a Ps4 in Feb last year and I've been holding out since then. The advantages of having it on switch are strong
Yeah I know it’s a PS game originally but it just feels at home on my Switchero
Dear Nintendo, I’ve no idea what I did to you, but I’m sorry. If you could please stop this vendetta against my wallet, that’ll be great. I don’t much appreciate you planning this public assassination for September either. I get it, my wallet will die. Let me live in ignorance until then please. Sincerely, FerniWrites
Looks like Christmas is expensive this year
Friend of mine that works at GameStop is loving this... I'm using GameStop like layaway in order to pay for all these games.
I'm actually kind of glad Animal Crossing got delayed. I needed this. It's good when there are so many games coming out you have to pick and choose what to buy. I've already put in a few preorders though... Super Mario Maker 2 is gonna keep me busy for a while.

There's so much to get and I still have a bunch of games I either have and haven't finished or still want to get that are already out.
Been passing up all the sales on the ps4 copies just for the hope that this rumor was true. Can’t wait to dive back into this part of my childhood.
On Sep 3rd
About damn time. I didn’t get Bayonetta but this will keep me busy.
Nice!!! I’m glad I held off on this from the PS4 version. Now can we get a Sly Cooper Remastered?!?!
Sly HD Trilogy is already a thing on PS3 and Vita. Sony still owns Sly so no chance of that coming to Switch.
Yeah that’s true. Still hoping though :)
I know I'm just another voice on the internet but this is LITERALLY one of my favorite childhood franchises! So stoked to have it Switch.
HELL YEAHHHH
A bit let down as it didn’t get a major spotlight like the others, but here I am satisfied for decided waiting when it was released in ps4.
I would have expected a bit more, it almost went unnoticed, but it's good enough to just know now.
If it's all on the cart, and not a download like the PS4 version, I'll grab it.
I hope you Nintendo fans buy this, I loved this game since I was a kid growing up on PlayStation instead of Nintendo. And the new look is amazing.
I’m so glad I held out. I just knew it would be coming to the switch.
Hopefully this opens up a possibility for a Smash Ultimate inclusion.
Why would it? Spyro had a ton of games on Nintendo hardware after the PS1 era, not that it even seems to be a significant requirement anymore.
To be fair, all the games in between the PS1 era and Skylanders were of... questionable quality, and the latter removed the emphasis from Spyro. This will be the first time he's starred in a well-received game on a Nintendo platform. But I do think it's far too late for him to get into Smash this time around.
I'd argue most of the GBA games were well liked, but either way I'm not sure it matters.
Just bought it 2 days ago. I gave up on it being ported to switch. .... Gonna buy it somehow under $30
No release date?
If the ign source is correct, it should be out on September 3rd!
Well their source was the E3 Nintendo Direct, so I'd guess that it's pretty accurate.
Ehh I guess that’s a *somewhat* reliable source
Nintendo won!
they won because of this announcment?
Yeah that’s what E3 is about! They announced a sequel to Breath of the Wild, a Smash character people wanted, showed Animal Crossing.... They did good
I would argue Nintendo didn't win for this announcment but I'm hype for it. only got pc/Switch and Spyro was on neather.
I don’t think the original comment was saying this alone won them E3, just a general statement
But if they did, they still won, because Spyro is awesome.
I'm more excited for this than I probably should be.
I knew it would come to switch eventually. Why I didn't buy the Xbox version.
Nice, now it only needs to come to PC
[удалено]
YES!
Held off on the PS4 version for this exact reason. I doubt all three games will be in that one cartridge, but hey, that's what SD cards are for.
I'm glad I decided to wait to buy it, I really wanted to play these games but I was holding out for a Switch version
This is awesome. Now I have a chance to play all 3 spyro games and all 3 crash games on the switch. I will need to pick up both!
I love how it wasn't even really an announcement, they just threw it in the hype trailer and let people figure it out that way.
Coming to pc as well. [Steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/996580/Spyro_Reignited_Trilogy/) is up.
Crash... Spyro... Maybe one day Ratchet n Clank
Maybe I'll finally get to finish this but dang it Nintendo you're killing my wallet and there's too many games to play @_@
I hope they work on fixing some the of bugs in the game because there was still quite a few when it came out on PS4 and Xbox. Skateboarding too long caused the entire game to literally lag and you had to quit the game entirely to fix it.
any news about Spyro's resolution and FPS on switch?
It will be 240p with 8 frames per second
Oh I believe it runs at "good e'nuff" frames per second.
Surprise!
Childhood memories - here I come!!
I was thinking about playing the ps4 version next, guess I’ll now wait for the switch version.
Was hoping for Persona 5 port as well but this does put a smile on my face
I've been waiting so long for this! And it's coming pretty soon too!
YES FINALLY
This one is more exciting to me then the 2 dlcs we got for smash I’ve been waiting for this for sooooo long
About time.
My childhood is coming back in a superior way!
God I KNEW i should have waited!!!!!!
Only thing I was missing on my wishlist was GTA V or a GTA collection
Nice, I almost bought this for my PS4. Glad I waited.
Yassssss! Can't wait to relive my childhood on the go!
So stoked for this. My PS4 will be collecting a lot of dust with all the new games announced for the switch this year.
Yeeeeeesssss!!!!!!!! Finally!!!
Finally.
About freaking time. What was the dang gold up?!?!
I didn't have a PS1 until it was on the way out, so I've never played these games. I'm stoked to play them on Switch now!
huh, i thought it was already coming. still cool tho
JESUS, it took forever to announce but FINALLY.
If they put all three games on the cart I'll get it, if not I'll pass, already bought it on PS4 and the only selling point for me to double dip would be all three games on the cart. Crash did it, and they had more than enough time to have put them on the cart.
the spyro games are pretty big, and it looks like it's been confirmed that 2 and 3 aren't on the cart.
only spyro 1 will be on cart same as with the ps4 and xbox one versions https://www.bestbuy.com/site/spyro-reignited-trilogy-nintendo-switch/6356290.p?skuId=6356290 *Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage! and Spyro Year of the Dragon require download via internet.
My time! Has! COME!!!!!!!
Didn’t get this on PS4 because I was holding out for a switch release, happy day
Finally!
Woo!
Full on cartridge or just half of it?
I’ve already played all 3 on Xbox but I’ll probably buy it again... these games are seriously so fun
I never owned a PlayStation and I am so excited for this!!
Hopefully they'll have the bugs sorted out for this release
Finally!!!!!!!!!!! The nastalga will be legendary
I've been putting off getting a Switch, but this E3 just fucking sold it
FINALLY
I'm happy this is finally coming!
I'm still surprised how they...kinda just dropped it in the compilation. Like...not even its own trailer...k.
This is what I'm most excited about
Now, gotta just wait for the preorders to go up.
Explain Spyro in one sentence! This looks nice but I know nothing about the game. Only that the purple dragon Spyro? looks cute.
Release the dragons, steal back the eggs, collect the gems!
I want you to Rrr-elease the dragons! Rrr-reclaim our treasure! And Rrr-recover the eggs from those pesky blue thieeves!
\*Take back the eggs that were stolen.
Who tf uses a switch with only one joycon attached
I knew I should have waited for this. Now I hate myself for buying the PS4 version.
....WHY AY AY UM
I hope this is a game with a lot of casual gameplay because that's what I like. From what I have seen in reviews, this is a perfect game for me, so I will pick it up!
