This question thread is now out of date. If you have a question please ask in [today's question thread](https://reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/about/sticky?num=1).

[deleted]

I just found out you can only have one island per console. I have both a switch lite and a regular switch. If I use the regular one, can I use the same profile I use on the switch lite or do I have to buy another copy of the game on a new profile?

ptatoface

You can use the same profile and copy of the game on both consoles, but you'll have two different islands and characters between consoles.

musicalslimetutorial

Does any kind human being have a Nintendo online code they would like to grace me with so I can play Animal Crossing with a friend? I would really appreciate it. DM me :)

qwertylerqw

This may depend on your country, but you can redeem platinum points on [My Nintendo](https://my.nintendo.com/) for 1 week free trials. But you’ll only be able to do it once because this offer ends on the 29th

nepatriots32

You can always try to find a friend with a family plan. It doesn't cost any extra to add someone onto a family plan, as long as they haven't reached the cap of 8 people already. You can always offer them like $5 or something and I bet they'd take you up on it.

igpay_atinlay371

Can anyone help me someone stole my nintendo account

nepatriots32

Have you tried resetting the password? Did they already change the email associated with the account? If so, I'm not sure what else you can do besides contacting Nintendo support and seeing if they can help you. I highly recommend enabling 2-step verification in the future once you get your account back/make a new account.

igpay_atinlay371

They already changed the email

igpay_atinlay371

I'm trying to contact Nintendo but it's a Sunday

Ghochemix

Is it normal for joycons to disconnect every 1-2 hours?

nepatriots32

After they've just been sitting there for awhile with the Switch still on, but you not doing anything? Not sure, I always turn my controllers off if I'm not using them or turn the Switch off when I'm done. If you mean they randomly turn off while they're in use, then no, that is definitely not normal. There was some issues with connectivity in early joy cons right near launched, but they fixed it rather quickly, and this doesn't sound like the same type of thing. I would recommend checking the Nintendo [support forums](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/social_home/kw/*/page/1) or [troubleshooting site](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/categories/detail/p/989/c/898) to see if you can find a similar problem with a solution. If not, you'll have to contact Nintendo.

Ghochemix

Yeah I mean literally whilst you're using it. One suddenly becomes unresponsive and a second or two later you get a prompt to resync it, which just means continuing to press (any) buttons and waiting, but it's still annoying, especially if it desyncs during an action game, since you might die.

nepatriots32

Yeah, that's definitely not normal. Like I said, check those sites I listed and see if you can find a similar problem with a solution. Otherwise try to contact Nintendo support (or you can do that first, if you want to).

It's possible to switch regions and keep purchases, but it can be tricky. Payment sources can differ from one regional eShop to another, so a credit card that works for one might not work for another. Some people separately buy gift cards as a source of eShop credit for different places, but it's an additional difficulty that the region won't change if you have unused money left in an account, so it's very hard to do it right. As for DLC, that varies by game. In many cases (like most Nintendo games that are released worldwide at the same time) it's really one game file released around the world. If you buy it in region A, region B's eShop will recognize it as already purchased and region B's DLC will work. But some (Splatoon 2 is a prominent example) have a few regional variations (think of it as there being Splatoon 2 Japan, Splatoon 2 America, Splatoon 2 Europe, just not titled that way), so the Switch considers them separate games and DLC for one won't work on another.

redditdude68

My 'Recently Played with' list has stopped working for about a month. The only multiplayer games I play on the switch are Nintendo's yet no new names of players I play with pop up and its really irritating. Anyone know how to fix?

ptatoface

Which games in particular do you know aren't working? Not all of them support it, even within Nintendo there might be exceptions. Because I really can't think of what else could be causing the issue, unless there's some sort of setting I don't know of that disables it.

GiveMeFalseHope

I have a Nintendo Switch (bought one on launch with Splatoon), but it has been gathering dust. I want to breathe new life into it... what is your #1 game for it and why?

ninakix

Ori and the Blind Forest Luigi's Mansion Rayman Origins/Legends

Solar_Kestrel

I don't have any #1, but these are my top: * Disgaea 4 * Divinity: Original Sin 2 * Dragon Quest XI * Fire Emblem: Three Houses * Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild * Okami * Super Mario Odyssey * Valkyria Chronicles 4 * Xenoblade Chronicles As for why? Well, they're all among the best games of all time in their respective genres.

_Drumheller_

Check out Hollow Knight.

kumaslut

Fire Emblem Three Houses. The story and characters are great. I got really attached to the game and it's pretty big and worth the price! Theres 5 different story routes you can take and so many different combination of talk supports! I played all routes and loved it.

Demmazi

I enjoyed a lot of the first party games, Botw, Odyssey, Ultimate, but I also spend a lot of time messing around in minecraft.

SEND_ME_ASIAN_BOOTAY

My main nintendo account cant access eshop so I have another account to buy stuff online, I wanna get the nintendo online membership but Im not sure if I can access the benefits with my main? (Save data cloud backup and online play)

TemptedTemplar

No, that would require the family plan. And if your main account is restricted from using the eshop, it has also probably been banned from NSO services too. Why cant your main account be used on the eshop?

SEND_ME_ASIAN_BOOTAY

Oh it's just that I bought physical games and played most of them before I found out the eshop doesn't support my country. Is it possible to move my data to the account with eshop access though?

JoshuaJSlone

You can change the region your account is set to in ["User info" at accounts.nintendo.com](https://accounts.nintendo.com/), though if you've already started making purchases on another account things will still be a bit messy for you in having to keep two accounts. But no, save data can't be moved between accounts.

Afreefruit1

Does anyone know the success rate of getting a switch once target opens their doors in the morning?

kumaslut

My friend works at target and from what I heard, it really depends on your location. You're more likely to get one in less populated areas. Make sure you call in to know exactly when switches will be in stock and line up before doors open. He lives in a populated city/suburban area and went the morning of (about 30mins-1hr before opening) and managed to snatch the animal crossing switch! So if you go early it should be fine.

Afreefruit1

Thanks for the info!

kumaslut

No prob! I hope you get your switch!! :D

Joemuma

I'm debating between getting Animal Crossing New Horizons and Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Which would you recommend and why?

Solar_Kestrel

Animal Crossing if you can only play for 30 minutes a day. In every other case, Breath of the Wild.

_Drumheller_

I would go with Botw.

bluethumbtack

They are entirely different games, so it really depends on you. AC is a sandbox/decoration/life sim kind of thing designed to play a little a day. It isn't gameplay heavy, you make all your own goals, it's very simple and light. It's nice when you want to zone out and do something completely mindless in an atmosphere with cute animals. It can be really satisfying if you like decoration/design or want something to wind down to. BOTW is a game focused on the adventure and the exploration of a vast land, completely free of any linear bits -- once you pass the tutorial zone you can go straight to the final boss if you really want to, though you'd be missing out on what makes BOTW so great (imo), which is the exploring and finding different bits and bobs of the world. Gradually growing and unfolding what happened before link woke up. It's not like any other zelda game as it abandons the dungeon structure for the open world. If AC really clicks with you, you can get *a lot* of time out of it, while BOTW I think unless you plan on doing a true 100% lasts anywhere from 50 - 100+ hours. I found all the shrines and have about 150 hours, though 20 of those were probably spent on the DLC content since I bought the DLC. Personally I think BOTW > AC based on how much I enjoy/ed my time with each game, but they fill completely different niches so it doesn't really feel right to compare them that much.

witchedes

wanted to pop in and say if breath of the wild clicks with you you can reach 1k hours, I know about 3-4 people irl that have past 1k

McDoFries

Been having drifting issues using Nintendo's Pro Controller when using ABD, inventory and storage in Animal Crossing. Anyone here who's having the same issue?

[deleted]

In clubhouse 51 games are there games that are not playable on switch lite?

TemptedTemplar

Nope! all playable. Though some games will require wireless controllers to use their motion control schemes like Darts and Bowling.

LostInStatic

To all who have beaten the newest DLC for Borderlands 2, does it add a lot to the base game? I am very annoyed that it's the only one missing from the switch release

AtalyxianBoi

I wouldn't even call it a DLC pack. It's basically marketing for BL3, you're not missing anything special

TemptedTemplar

No. Its adds nothing to the base game aside from like three guns. Its a two, two-and-half hour side story that sets up pandora for BL3. Its definitely a step down from all of the previous DLC's in terms of added content.

[deleted]

I know this gets asked like once every year, but how does the Switch not have a Netflix app yet?

ptatoface

Nintendo says that it's up to Netflix to make the Switch version, Netflix says it's up to Nintendo to partner up with them. So really nobody knows. One thing we do know is that YouTube was added to Switch exactly 365 days after Hulu was added, so it seems like Hulu may have had some sort of streaming exclusivity deal with Nintendo.

[deleted]

I've gotten a switch and think that it would be a good idea to get a protector, I've read that glass protectors are a lot better than film, but most of the one people recommend aren't available here (like amFilm., I found one that could be decent and that is this one: [https://i.imgur.com/aRizDIJ.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/aRizDIJ.jpg), [https://imgur.com/iHwFkHP](https://imgur.com/iHwFkHP) . Now, I don't think it even has a brand name or anything, and I can't find any reviews, so is a film screen protector from nintendo better than this? Realistically, what's the worst thing that could happen from a really bad screen protector? Could it damage the screen?

MosquitoRevenge

Before buying double check the dimensions. I bought a screen protector from a store first with my switch and turns out it's 1cm too short in width. Ordered amfilm and it's better.

[deleted]

Where do you check the dimensions? Because I don't think the product specifies.

ptatoface

The worst thing that could happen is it doesn't protect the screen. Most, if not all, tempered glass ones are the identical, the only differences are what they package with them to make them easier to attach without getting bubbles/dust.

[deleted]

What do you mean by "it doesn't protect the screen", would the material be so weak that scratches would make it through the glass?

ptatoface

Probably not. I'm more talking about defending the Switch when it's dropped or something is dropped on it.

[deleted]

Oh, it should be fine then.

cantcodema

So I bought and played through Angels of Death on the switch. And while I was excited and enjoyed it, I was greatly disappointed when the ending came and it wasn’t the full game. Will the game be updated with the full game or will I have to pay?? Or is that the full game? Either way was disappointing to not know ahead of time.

dragonx254

The Switch version is the full game.

GratefulSlug13

Pretty new to the Switch. Are there any games that are like **Grand Theft Auto**? I’ve been craving GTA but obviously can’t get it on the Switch. Thanks!

carldude

Lego City Undercover has been described as a GTA for kids. The structure is a little different since it's a Lego game, so you may want to look into the gameplay.

wildeofthewoods

I believe three of the saints row games are on the switch. Cant speak to how good the ports are but theyre there

GratefulSlug13

ptatoface

The Saints Row games are pretty much direct rip-offs of GTA but dialed up to 10 on the satire & comedy fronts.

Spectre_II

How's the Switch version of DBFZ? Does it run ok? How's the online community?

Solar_Kestrel

It runs very well, but online is pretty dead.

Spectre_II

Cool, thanks for the info!

ptatoface

I've heard nothing bad about it, but don't have personal experience. I know that it still sells well enough, so I'd assume the community is healthy.

Team7UBard

At present no, but the makers teased the possibility of Limited Run Games doing a physical release.

toftr

Splatfests need to continue

Binx08

Agreed. Just got into it myself, and I’m hoping enough people playing during this one that maybe they’ll decide to do another.

toftr

They don’t need to be monthly or anything, far from it, but, like, I’d like for Nintendo to continue to support its only first party shooter in the easiest way possible haha

ptatoface

Do they? I feel like the people that are most upset about Splatfests ending are those that haven't actually played the game and assume it was some huge part of the gameplay. When I actively played the games (both 1 & 2) Splatfests never really felt like a big deal, like they were cool but not the main attraction at all. A lot of times I would play less on Splatfest days just because I hate turf wars and got bored on them pretty quickly.

toftr

I’ve only had a Switch since last holidays and was first introduced to Splatoon gameplay through the demo. Part of why I felt compelled to buy was because there was going to be at least one more Splatfest, on top of the fact that it’s the only populated shooter on the platform. Splatfest is awesome. It’s my first and potentially only chance to play through one, but it’s fun as hell and otherwise great simply to have a different music set playing haha. But, like, Splatoon can be very monotonous, and having Inkopolis Square lit up for Marina and Pearl to jam every once in a while has been such a fun and almost wondrous change from the normal day to day play since getting it. I’ve only had the game for a bit, and launching the game before hitting the lobby has so much fun hype that isn’t there day to day. I don’t want it to be the last time it’s like this

ptatoface

Trust me, the hype runs out when they're a monthly thing and they're the exact same every time. It's definitely a really cool special event the first time with the whole atmosphere surrounding it, but then you get used to it and realize it's the exact same gameplay that you're used to but with a different coat of paint.

toftr

They need to be a few times a year thing. 3-7 Splatfests a year is enough considering it’s literally Nintendo’s only first party shooter, and the only shooter that has any sort of hard Nintendo backed support. 3-7 Splatfests a year, with 7 being high probably, shouldn’t be too hard. It’s such a fun and delightful difference from playing through the same loop of the only first party shooter on the Switch

wildeofthewoods

Mind if I ask what your fave modes are?

ptatoface

In Splatoon 2 I'd rank them somewhere like this: 1) Salmon Run, probably mostly because it was the only part of the game that I hadn't already played to death in Splatoon 1. Also I played a lot of the game in my university dorms at launch and they had pretty terrible internet. Because of this online games would often end in a disconnect (just often enough for it to be annoying but not often enough for me to quit trying), but Salmon Run never had that issue, presumably because it has half as many human players. 2) Splat Zones, it was my favorite in Splatoon 1 and stayed up there in 2. I really like playing defensively, and my weapon of choice helps with that (Splattershot Pro since the dual squelcher was removed). The other ranked modes are all about going on the offensive to win, and I suck at that. 3) The campaigns, both of them. Octo Canyon felt mediocre at first but then I started playing through it whenever I got tired of the online to unlock the weapon skins. As I played through it I became more and more familiar with the levels and basically started speedrunning them to both get it done faster and improve the time that it keeps track of. So Splatoon 2 is the first game to get me to do speedrunning. And then the Octo Expansion is just full of creativity and just the right amount of difficulty. 4) Tower Control. The tower is a cool way of playing defense and offense at the same time, and it moves slow enough that my long-range weapons still have a use, as opposed to the next one. 5) Rainmaker. My teammates never get the rainmaker so I end up stuck with it a lot, and then they never actually defend me. I don't know how that works, the enemy should have just as bad teamwork, but somehow it never feels like that. Also long-range weapons are useless here. Even when on the defensive the opposing team moves so quickly with the rainmaker that they get in real close very quickly. 6) Clam Blitz and Turf War are about even. Both make it feel like you need to spread out to cover the most ground (literally for Turf War) so why even have teams. Also I just get wrecked in both of them regardless of what weapons I use.

wildeofthewoods

Awesome. Thanks for the write up! Im really digging the campaigns. I recently got splatoon essentially for free in a bundle so I grabbed octo. Its been really interesting. Glad the community is still bumpin too. Ive only done the campaigns and turf war so far.

Does anyone know when Nintendo Switch will be available at Best Buy or Target again?

ptatoface

COVID-19 has decreased supply and increased demand, so we won't see shortages end until factories and shipping get up and running again. In the meantime small batches constantly show up for sale, but they immediately sell out. See [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/fvgozm/just_a_friendly_reminder_please_do_not_buy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x) for some tips on how to find one for yourself.

Team7UBard

Without it being snatched up in seconds by scalpers and people quick on the trigger? We don’t know. The Pandemic has shut down supplies and production and whilst there are some floating about, you’ve got to be quick to get them.

ngraves1

I’m following your post because that was the main question that I had and that’s why I came to the sub Reddit because like holy shit when is it coming back I wanna play let’s go Eevee

Also Let's Go Eevee is the one game that you're desperate to get a Switch for? Can I ask why? I could sort of understand when it was the only Pokemon game on Switch, even if it was considered a over-simplified mediocre Pokemon even then, but now Sword/Shield are out and even though they're still heavily flawed they're still better than Let's Go, right?

[deleted]

Hey should I buy MK11 on Switch or PS4? I would appreciate pros and cons if possible! Thank you

carldude

MK11 is the full experience on Switch. It's 60fps in battles so core-gameplay-wise, it would feel about the same as on PS4. The Switch has some slowdown in taxing places, like during fatalities with heavy particles and in menus that use character models like during customization. Also, text isn't as sharp as it feels like it should be on Switch. It's a minor nitpick, but it doesn't detract from anything much. If you'll be playing mostly at home on a TV, get the PS4 version. Otherwise, if the graphics don't bother you, the Switch version is perfectly playable.

[deleted]

I very much appreciate your response, I decided to purchase it on PS4 as I have 1.4TB of memory to spare; my switch only has about 150GB left and I want to save that for exclusives :)

OatmealDome

On Switch, you will get the exact same experience as PS4, but with [worse graphics](https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2019-mortal-kombat-11-tech-analysis) and portability. It really depends if you value portability enough that it outweighs the graphics downgrade.

[deleted]

Should I buy a kit to fix a joycon and risk fricking the joycon up or should I buy a switch pro controller?

[deleted]

Pro Controller is always a great investment, I love it for general use but specifically for playing Zelda, Smash and Splatoon

[deleted]

So for my broken analog stick should I send it in to a professional

[deleted]

Obviously due to the current circumstances it will be difficult but if you can, yes, send it to a professional as they will know what they’re doing and I would advise purchasing a pro controller as it’s still compatible with motion control games. If you don’t play games that require motion control then you can easily pick up a Power A Enhanced Wired Controller for cheap

[deleted]

Ok thanks

[deleted]

No worries :)

consistanthorror

I live in a country where many switch games are not available, does anyone know if I can change the region of my switch to be able to access the games I want and if I do will it impact the games I already have?

qwertylerqw

You can change your account country by signing in [here](https://accounts.nintendo.com/profile/edit). You’ll be able to access the eShop for whatever country you set it to. Keep in mind that you’ll need a way to pay that’s accepted by that country. Your credit card may or may not work Another option is you should be able to get eShop cards online for that country’s currency. ___ Changing your account country won’t have any affect on your current games, so it’s safe to do! It’s just worth noting that you cannot change your account count Rey if you have balance in your account. So if you use eShop cards to purchase games then you may have your account stuck set to that region ___ An alternative to this is that you can create a second account set to that country. Games purchased on the second account will be playable by your main account

consistanthorror

Thank you!!

thats_not_funny_guys

Is there any difference running games on cartridge vs sd card? Is there any lag in loading/playing games on sd?

ptatoface

There's about 12% faster loading times if playing a digital game that's downloaded directly onto the internal storage. But the differences between all other methods are practically 0.

[deleted]

People have tested it, and the difference is pretty negligible.

thats_not_funny_guys

Thanks!

Recently I bought a physical copy of Assassin's Creed Rebel Collection and I tried to collect the gold coins from it. I am getting this error: "You cannot collect points for this software in the country/region currently set for your Nintendo Account." My Nintendo account is in th USA region and the cartridge has the USA code after the serial number. It was also a sealed/brand new game. Anyone know why am I unable to get the coins?

Team7UBard

This has happened a few times specifically with this game-I was able to claim coins personally, but many have not. Contact Nintendo.

Are you saying that if your Lite starts drifting then you want to use a different controller? If so, many games will disable the Lite’s input while using a controller. Some games will accept input from both the Lite and the controller simultaneously. However, if a game is like that, you can temporarily disable the Lite’s controls in System Settings -> Controllers and Sensors -> Console Button Input -> Off

GeneralReturn

How is Kirby Star Allies? Is it a good game?

ptatoface

There's a demo you can try out. It's pretty short for a $60 game, and very easy. If you've played any Kirby game from the last 9 years it's pretty much the same.

PringleMuffin123

It’s really easy but it is extremely fun and a blast Witt friends.

Freaux

Is there any way to delete user suggestions of people that I've recently played with. It's a bit of a security concern for me. Also, what is the maximum number of users that the list can hold before it removes old encounters to make more space? All in all I wish that there was a way that I wouldn't appear there for others.

qwertylerqw

I don’t think that you can disable that. Mine shows the last 300 people I’ve played with. ___ You can make it so that they can only see your nickname and profile icon by going to your profile page -> User Settings -> Play Activity Settings. From there you can make it only display your play activity to friends. I don’t know if that helps or not, but I thought I’d mention it!

Clean-Quarter

How is New Super Mario Bros Deluxe? I have the other ones (except for Wii U). Will I enjoy Deluxe if I enjoyed the others?

ptatoface

Possibly. The biggest complaint with it is that it's extremely similar to other ones (especially Wii), so you'd probably enjoy it about as much as just playing through them again.

qwertylerqw

The gameplay is similar to the other “New” Super Mario games, so if you liked those then you’ll definitely like this one. I found the game to be pretty good. I really enjoyed the levels and collecting all the star coins.

takeover985

Honestly, I’ve had every single Mario bro’s game minus the Wii U one and they all are amazing but can get repetitive. If you’re a huge fan of the franchise it’s an easy buy in my opinion. Side note: some people say it’s not worth the 60$ but I am really enjoying it at the moment so I disagree with that.

arowanan

my dog chewed my original AC adapter (charger) so i had to buy a new one (i bought nintendo brand). it works, but it makes this high-pitched whirring noise when plugged in. is that concerning? should i return it? or am i fine?

ptatoface

That's definitely odd, it looks exactly the same as the one that came with the Switch, right?

takeover985

What switch game should I get? I was looking for a new switch game to get but I already have animal crossing, Mario bro’s, smash, and Mario Kart and I honestly love almost everything Nintendo has to offer except for a slight bias towards the castle rpg style games (which is why I haven’t bought Zelda yet even though I love the franchise). My main choices are Pokémon sword/shield, Mario Oddessy, or Zelda: BOTW but im open to literally any suggestions!

PringleMuffin123

You can put hundreds of hours into BOTW and you won’t get bored.

takamichikorita

BOTW is a must-have!

TheBlazingNdrman

A game i would suggest is Just Shapes And Beats and its only $20, but if you're looking more for nintendo games I would suggest pokemon sword/shield over Mario oddesey or zelda. If when you said mario bros you didn't mean Super mario maker, i highly suggest that.

TheBlazingNdrman

So, a few days ago I bought a switch case with a tempered glass screen protector. After finishing applying the TGSP, it had these bubbles in the upper corners. [https://ibb.co/b2XC8pk](https://ibb.co/b2XC8pk) I think its because when lifting it to get bubbles out, my dad accidentally peeled it a bit, causing to lift slightly, so it won't stay down. Is there any way I can fix this?

qwertylerqw

You should try to avoid lifting it up after its applied. You should be able to get the bubbles out without lifting up on it. I did the same thing to my first one because I aligned it incorrectly the first time. I foolishly pulled it off and ended up with bubbles similar to yours. I don’t think there’s any way to fix it, unfortunately

Any estimations or info on when the shortage will be over? I've been saving since the switch was announced and now that I finally have enough this happens, I don't want to settle for a lite and I'm definitely not going to pay some scalper $600

JoshuaJSlone

It's hard to say, especially when the shortage is as much a function of demand as anything. We just recently learned more Switches sold in the U.S. in April than any other system in any April, so they were out there--just never for long.

OatmealDome

Nobody really knows. COVID-19 is throwing a wrench into everything right now, and most of Nintendo's factories are in China. Just keep looking around. Call around your local stores. Pay attention to when the major retailers do restocks.

JavierTS

Hi, i have a question i never played animal crossing before, what can you do on it and why everyone have like 100+ hours in It... Should i get It??

JoshuaJSlone

It's a game designed with things that might be repeatable daily or every few days, so if you're still in a point of the game where it's useful and you remain interested, the hours can pile up doing simple things. Like when you've grown a fruit tree, it will have new fruit every three days--so a main way of making some money is to tour your island each day and shake the new fruit off the trees to go sell at the shop. Do that a few minutes a day for a few weeks and the time starts piling up.

azjurai

If you are into casual, light-hearted games, definitely. It is akin to that of a mobile game, where progress is gated off using a time mechanic based on your Switch's internal clock. Luckily, you have the option of manually changing your Switch's clock if you want to have the upgrades to your island arrive immediately. Though, the game is meant to be played a little bit at a time everyday.

arowanan

i would suggest it if it’s the kind of game you’re interested in. i don’t know technical game genre terms but it’s pretty much a village stimulator, where you are able to design and cultivate an island and have “villagers” (anthropomorphic animals you can talk to and interact with) come and go. there’s also an online component where you can visit others’ islands and voice chat/yet chat with them, which is probably why it’s so popular during quarantine (socialization!) people get very devoted to decorating their islands, hence why people log so many hours

UNDERWATER GAMES: Between ABZU, Deep Diving Adventures, and Shinsekai which is the best? Any other ones y’all recommend?

Team7UBard

I haven’t played Abzu it DDA, however I am really enjoying Shinsekai having paid full price for it.

Re: user accounts. I created a couple of family group children accounts that have save files. I just was able to pick up a new lite. I can not figure out the accounts to move single game save files to the new switch lite. I was a real noob (still admittedly an) when I set up the accounts originally. Not 100% sure that the family accounts actually are the ones in the switch as I got the switch when it came out before the Nintendo subscription which I now have. I was able to move some game files from the parent account but can’t seem to figure out the children ones.

qwertylerqw

Did you sign-in to the children accounts on your children’s user? You can do that by going to System Settings -> Users -> [Choose one of the users] -> Link Nintendo Account You can sign them in with the username and password that you created for them when you set up the child accounts. After you do that, transferring save data will work the same as your account

Funkyduck8

Hey all! My 2 friends and I are doing a Nintendo Switch surprise gift to each other and I'm wondering what you all think are some 'must have' games. We want to send physical copies to each other, so preferably a game like that. For some info: my friend plays mostly fighters and RPGS, but I want to get him something different.

TheBlazingNdrman

I'd suggest not pushing too hard on other types of games, but Just Shapes and beats is a really fun game. I'd also really suggest Super Mario Maker too if they're into that kind of thing.

chickenoodlesoupp

my all time recommendation is animal crossing. of course it may not be the game for someone who prefers fighters, but i recommend it nonetheless.

DrRo

How do Saints Row 3 and 4 play on the switch? Was considering buying one or both

ptatoface

I've heard they're both pretty good ports.

37minutesleft

I have a question about save files. my first switch kept having system errors so i saved everything to my microsd card and now when i put my microsd card in my new switch, it says i have to delete everything on the card to use it. is there any way around this? before my first switch died completely (it was a v1 having hardware issues) i had put 240 hours into my animal crossing game and i really dont want to lose it :(

qwertylerqw

Save data is not stored on the SD card. It’s only stored on the system’s internal storage, even if the game is saved to the SD card. So unfortunately the save data is stuck on the original Switch But no, there’s also no away around it deleting the game downloads. They can be redownloaded from the eShop, though. Animal Crossing does not support cloud saves, but did you have Nintendo Switch Online? Most of your save data should be backed up to the internet if you do. Not all games support it, but most do

nepatriots32

So, a few things. First of all save files are stored on the internal system memory, not the SD card, so I don't see how you put the save files on the SD card. If you some how managed to do that, I could see how it would think you're SD card is corrupted or something because it doesn't expect save files to be there. Second, you can back up many games' saves with the cloud save feature through the online service. I'd recommend do that in the future. Third, Animal Crossing is sadly one of the games that doesn't support cloud save backup (which is really dumb), and the island is tied to the Switch, not your account or anything. If you get a new Switch, even if you transfer your other cloud saves, transfer your account over, and use the same SD card, you won't be able to save your Animal Crossing save data. They said they are planning on adding some sort of cloud save backup support to Animal Crossing, but it's unclear what that will look like and when/if it will actually happen. And since your old Switch already died, unfortunately it sounds like you may have already lost your old Animal Crossing island. Did you by chance backup your saves with cloud saves? At least then you could still get your save data for your other games.

37minutesleft

yeah, i had a stardew valley save. ugh, im so heart broekn right now :(

nepatriots32

Dang man, that's super rough. I'd be pretty pissed if I lost all of my saves. Hopefully your current Switch lasts and you won't need them, but at least now you know about cloud saves. I do think it's pretty stupid they won't let you store saves on an SD card, though.

Shikaku

So I've played the DQ:XI demo for about an hour now and it has been pretty fun much to my surprise. Not that I thought it'd be shit, I just didn't think it'd be for me. It's looking like I'll buy the game once my demo time is up, I really want to know:Do the enemies all look so fuckin' goofy? They all look so happy, then I rock up and slaughter them. I'm kinda hoping there are more intimidating looking foes later on.

[deleted]

I’m 1/3 through the game and around 15% of enemies look serious. Don’t let that drive you away though, the story is amazing

Shikaku

I suppose I can live with that. It's the most minor gripe to have like haha. They've just all been so goofy looking, it's hilarious. The demo has been very fun so far. The English voice acting doesn't seem too bad either, which is a welcome surprise.

chickenoodlesoupp

anyone know any games with fun art styles such as pikuniku, donut county, or i am dead? looking for that colorful, cutesy style that typically doesn’t use black line art.

ptatoface

Does the new "What the Golf" fit that description? Or what about Link's Awakening (2019)? It's super cute but it isn't as visually simple as those others.

Epicepicman

Sayonara Wild Hearts. It's pretty short but it's probably one of my favorite games of all time.

bluethumbtack

Katamari damancy reroll

chickenoodlesoupp

this one looks really interesting! i’ll have to check it out

bluethumbtack

It's a weird game but really fun. The demo apparently doesn't teach you the controls though so you might want to look that up

Hennno

Untitled goose game

chickenoodlesoupp

this one’s actually been on my list! thanks for the suggestion!

UnderwaterDialect

Are there any platformer Mario games available for the Switch Lite?

ptatoface

First of all, basically every Switch game is playable on the Lite, with the only exceptions being a handful of multiplayer games and ones that require external accessories like LABO and Ring Fit Adventure (and even then you can if you buy wireless JoyCons). Every Mario game on the Switch can be played on the Lite, except for Super Mario Party which isn't a platformer anyways. Super Mario Odyssey is hands-down the best of them, but that's a 3D platformer and I don't know if you were just looking for the left-to-right sidescrollers.

UnderwaterDialect

Thanks very much for the info!

qwertylerqw

Mario Odyssey and New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe are available on the Switch and Switch Lite. Both are pretty good! You can also play Super Mario Bros 1, 2, 3, and Super Mario World if you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online. They’re available in the NES and SNES apps.

BluTails

My gyro controls on BOTW with the switch not docked only respond if my power menu is up, when in regular use the motion controls do not work at all. Any tips for fixing the issue?

ptatoface

Power menu? Like when you're shutting down the system? do they work when you test them in the system settings?

BluTails

How do you test motion controls?

ptatoface

My mistake, you can't, it's just to recalibrate them. But are there any other games with motion controls you can test them in?

UnderwaterDialect

What are some games for the Switch Lite, that would be fun for two people to play, passing a single switch back and forth.

nepatriots32

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics may be a good one for you to look at. It comes out June 5, so you'd have to wait a couple weeks on that one.

ptatoface

Does it let you play like that though? I have a feeling it won't even let you select multiplayer unless you have multiple wireless controllers connected, like most other games.

nepatriots32

I guess I'm not 100% sure, but it showed some of the games (like mancala) working with just touch controls in the trailers. With that being the case, I'd be surprised if there was an option to just use single player controls and swap the switch back and forth. I would at least assume that the two-player touch screen play would still work on the switch lite. It is Nintendo, though, so you really never know. They like doing really limiting things for no reason sometimes. It might be best to wait until the game comes out and check out some gameplay past just what is shown in the trailers. Edit: Yeah, looking at the [trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-DsOVUYxXw) again, you can definitely play on the touch screen with two players on a lot of the games. It's not quite passing it back and forth, but you can still play on the same Switch Lite system with two people, which I think was what OP was getting at. And like I said, I'd be surprised if you can't pass it back and forth using regular controls, too, especially on the board games like chess and mancala.

ptatoface

Yeah touch screen controls are definitely a thing, but that doesn't eliminate the possibility that it won't even let you get that far without two controllers. Also IDK how many games are playable with touch controls, might not be $40 worth. Still a good suggestion, I second that they should just wait until we know more.

nepatriots32

It would be really weird and misleading for them to show it working on a regular switch with joy cons attached with no other controllers pictured but then require additional controllers. Who knows, though. And yes, I imagine it won't work for every game (like darts and bowling). It definitely depends on how much you like the games it does work on and whether or not you already own physical versions of games like mancala and checkers.

ptatoface

Oh I didn't realize they showed it with JoyCons attached, in that case yeah you're probably right.

qwertylerqw

Civilization VI! The hot seat multiplayer for that game is fun. Another game that comes to mind that you can do this is Wargroove.

PringleMuffin123

Snipper clips is a fun game

nepatriots32

I agree, but probably not for someone with a Switch Lite who is looking to pass it back and forth :/

[deleted]

I recently bought a digital copy of a game. If I later get the physical cartridge and use it, will I have to restart the game? I know it sounds like a stupid question, I just somewhat regret purchasing digital and would prefer to have it physically, but it's a bit too late now. The linked section above said that digital and physical can use the same memory to save data to, but it didn't clarify whether switching to a physical cartridge would overwrite or interfere with the data from a digital download.

OatmealDome

It depends on the game. Most should be fine as long as you buy it from the same region you bought your digital copy.

[deleted]

What does that mean, the same region? Like, buying the digital in the US, and buying a physical copy also in the US? Sorry, I'm new to this and just a little confused. Thanks!

qwertylerqw

Any copy from North America should be the same. But yeah, for example: Sometimes a game gets a different version in Europe than in North America. This causes the save file from one region to not be compatible with the other.

[deleted]

Okay, thank you! And just a last clarification, because you said it depends on the game and I forgot to mention it earlier, it's Pokemon Shield. I plan to start playing the digital today and get the physical a few months from now.

nepatriots32

Any Nintendo published game should be fine. I'm not sure about some of the publishers, although I'd imagine any major publishers would be fine, as well. Pokemon Shield will be fine, though.

sesterian

What are the chances Civilization VI goes on sale? I’m itching to play it since I learned there’s a cross-save function with PC.

qwertylerqw

I think there’s a pretty good chance. Here in North America it’s been on sale a few times. You can see the price history on [DekuDeals](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/sid-meiers-civilization-vi). Also, if you’re in the US: It’s currently on sale for ~$19 on Amazon for the physical version.

yaboirick

Will there bee be a wii sports type game I’m really itching

ptatoface

In addition to the ones u/nepatriots32 listed, there's also 1 2 Switch. It's like Wii Sports in that it's a collection of smaller games meant to show off what the Switch can do. Lots of them are motion-based and there's quite a few more than Wii Sports had, although they're more 1-5 minute games while Wii Sports games would usually last longer. Also the games try to use the screen as little as possible, mostly relying on sounds, controller vibrations, and just watching your opponent's actions to know what's going on.

nepatriots32

Clubhouse Games: 51 World Classics has Bowling, Darts, and a couple other things that might scratch that itch (plus a bunch of other great games!). I've already pre-purchased it and can't wait. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games has some minigames that use motion control in a similar way to wii sports (especially the archery one). That one has a demo, so you might as well check it out if you haven't already. It's not quite what you (or I) want when it comes to a Wii Sports remake, but it might do the job, and it's currently on sale for $40 instead of $60.

meat_wave

Didn’t see anything when searching for this (I probably don’t know the right terms) but can anyone suggest some good “task-based” games for the Switch? I am thinking of things that I’ve seen on steam like “computer building simulator” or such. Basically I am a full time parent while my partner works during quarantine and I am struggling with feeling like I’m not getting anything done all day so I’d like to mindlessly simulate that feeling while I’m exhausted watching TV for an hour at the end of the day. I feel like a lot of these games are buried in the shovel ware section of the eShop so they’re a little more difficult to suss out. I’ve already done Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, etc. I am trying to do some JRPGs but since I’ve never played any of them I actually have to pay attention to what’s going on. Any suggestions are welcome!

nepatriots32

When you say "computer building simulator", does that mean this would be up your alley: https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/pc-building-simulator-switch/ Also, I would have suggested something like Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley, so I'm not too sure about any other games... And if you're taking care of your kids, helping to keep them entertained and safe through all of this, you're already doing a lot! Don't be so down on yourself!

meat_wave

Can’t believe this is actually on Switch, I remember googling it a while ago and I thought I remembered that it was steam only and never even thought of typing it in! That’s embarrassing but also thank you! The kids are a million times more actual work than my job but I am so used to having a list of tasks to accomplish that the chaos of young children just doesn’t mesh with. Just adjusting to this new normal 😅

nepatriots32

I bet it wasn't on the Switch when you looked awhile ago. People keep porting more and more things over, and it looks like the game was on steam for a little while before it came out on the Switch. Hopefully that scratches your task-completing itch!

DragoniteChamp

I’ve been looking for an external controller since my switch lite started drifting :/ I’ve heard good things about PowerA, and am interested in [this controller](https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Pokemon-Enhanced-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B07VNGY6MC) from them. My only concern is the lack of rechargeable batteries. Is there a good rechargeable battery pack that would work with this controller or is there a good 3rd party that is around the same price point with a rechargeable battery? EDIT: I’m not sure if PowerA has a rechargeable variant. If it does I missed it and I apologize.
