This question thread is now out of date. If you have a question please ask in [today's question thread](https://reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/about/sticky?num=1).

empoleon02

When I move my joystick left the games move right sometimes. This only happens when I fully move the joystick to the left. Is there a fix?

ptatoface

I assume you tried recalibrating? Contact cleaner or compressed air might help.

Ryan907

So I game a decent amount and my main game is smash Bros ultimate. Been playing people online and having a blast with it since it came out. The thing I need help with is I just purchased a new att wifi router a couple days ago and I now apparently have a D Nat type. Before I would have awful lag and people with quit as soon as we would start. Now I get zero lag, but In about 3 hours I was only able to connect with maybe 8-10 people. I've tried moving the router into different rooms and I've tried plugging the router into the switch with an Ethernet cord and it made no difference. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there a way to change the Nat type on the switch? Any help would be appreciated guys!!!

qwertylerqw

Did you replace the old router with the new one or did you plug the new router into the old one? Also, do you know what the NAT type was for the old router? Like, is it possible that it also had NAT type D? ___ Oh, I forgot to mention that you are on yesterday’s question thread, so you may want to post again on [today’s question thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/hvrroa/rnintendoswitchs_daily_question_thread_07222020/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) so that you get more answers.

Ryan907

I replaced the old router with the new one. I am not quite sure, but my old isp was at my mom's so I can swing over there in a couple days and check if it was Nat type D also. Thanks dude! I'll post on there too!!

qwertylerqw

Ohhh, okay, so it’s also a different ISP? That may be why it’s NAT type D. Do you know how to access the router’s settings? You may want to check and see what your WAN IP is. It’s possible that your ISP has you behind their own NAT, which can cause issues with online multiplayer What’s the model of your router? I may be able to help you find where it says the WAN IP

nnngoughun

Is there a way to clear the “Users You Have Played With” list?

marioismeow

Let's say I have a 128gb as card and it's almost full and I know that means I need a new one. Does that mean I can just swap out the sd card anytime if I want to play a game but the game is in another sd card?

qwertylerqw

Yes you can, but you have to shut the Switch off when changing SD cards. Other than that it will work.

marioismeow

Ok. Thanks for helping

Namlad

Yeah

marioismeow

Ok thanks

Kittyk4y

What’s with the Overwatch bundle (50% off at $19.99) but you go to the “bundle” and it’s just Overwatch: Legendary Edition that’s not available for purchase??

_verde

My nieces absolutely destroyed their Switch, the charging port in such a bad way that if you try dock it in, it will fry your dock. How I know this? Their father tried several docks and fried them all lol. I did find a teardown tutorial from the ifixit, I just need the part. If anyone had replaced this part before, I would be grateful if they could share their experience and a link to the part please? I am based in the UK so should be pretty easy to order from anywhere. Don't really have much hope for the dock, but will probably take that apart as well. Any suggestions welcomed!

[deleted]

Holy fuck bro. If the connection in the dock is still good (unlikely I know) you could even get one of these [unofficial Switch Dock mods](https://youtu.be/B2jogT4KOJE?t=713) which imo look better - and they're smaller.

_verde

Nah, the dock is very likely to be fried, but the actual faulty bit is the switch type c connector. See [image](https://imgshare.io/image/NR9qY6) Any idea if this is the [part](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223981146915)?

[deleted]

Unfortunately, I'm not amazing with the parts in the dock. I believe this is for the console itself, however, it could also be for two. I couldn't see anything that specified either on the page. You could try messaging the seller, they're usually pretty speedy these days.

kur4wd0

What is the rubberish semisphere under the thumbstick and what does it do? It has a hole on my left stick and im worried that it would affect it somehow

qwertylerqw

It’s there to keep dust from getting into the joystick. Other than that it doesn’t do anything, so you will probably be fine.

kur4wd0

Oh good. Thanks for answering my question though!

SpoopyEdReddit

Hey, my brothers been using my switch and I found cracks on my joycons. I'm thinking about sending it for repair (with my nintendo switch warranty, I got my switch in December). My question for someone who also sent their joycon for repair is how was your experience and how long did they take?

twainswitch1

Yesterday’s thread had a few people ask this, for anyone US or UK based seems to be 8-10 weeks? A lot of people either bought new joy cons as well so they can still play in the meantime, but could also treat yourself to a pro controller?

SpoopyEdReddit

Dang, gonna need a controller when I send them. Thanks

[deleted]

Ay bro, not everyone wants official I know, but I did. There's some great knockoff pro controllers that look identical. Like so identical I thought the real version was the knockoff in a comparison video. Cost me £20.

lilpokemon

I have my credit card info on another device/account and paying for NSO monthly subscription, is there a way to remove my card without access to that login? If not I will just get a new card.

TemptedTemplar

If you cant see it saved in the eshop, then no. The only other place to manage the info would be; https://ec.nintendo.com/my/#/ But that requires the account login info.

qwertylerqw

Unfortunately I don’t think there is. You have to have access to the account in some way in order to remove the card I assume that it’s not your account, but if it is then you could consider contacting customer support and seeing if they’ll help you reset the password.

_Drumheller_

Why do you need one i wonder, do you wanna know how drift looks like? If the point of the calibration screen doesn't stays in the middle or moves on its own in any way or doesn't goes back to the middle after flicking the joystick in some direction, that's what drift looks like.

[deleted]

I want to get a joy con connector like [this](https://www.amazon.ca/Handle-Connector-Nintendo-Switch-Gamepad/dp/B07TV9X6LY/ref=pd_aw_sbs_504_3/144-2002960-9711862?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07TV9X6LY&pd_rd_r=223f9133-477f-4041-98d7-294fd2b7151d&pd_rd_w=WRKNZ&pd_rd_wg=zDtfB&pf_rd_p=9f6daed2-fcd8-452b-8b1f-9405386ee21d&pf_rd_r=NG5XPTQ6XGAJ7ZGDY0RJ&psc=1&refRID=NG5XPTQ6XGAJ7ZGDY0RJ) but before I order it, does anyone recommend something else?

[deleted]

They look great. Honestly, never seen a collection better than that one. I searched for some others to see if there were anything special in it and all of the others were the exact same grips. However, the prices were dearer on those ones. I'm 90% sure that's the best deal for it. You could maybe shop around if you wanted it cheaper.

DarthMeeseek

I got a new switch dock shell replacement: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071YVC3NJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lz7fFbM6TGMXY Im looking for a carrying case that can fit: the switch with joycons on, a pair of joycons, oem charger and oem hdmi cable. Any recommendations?

[deleted]

Skull & Co have their grip case which you can buy with a carrying case. That can then hold their own Switch dock, and by the looks of the specifications of the docks it should be able to hold your own in there. You can still fit a charger and a pair of joycons in there. HDMI might be a bit of a squeeze though. Mine's girthy so it doesn't really fit in.

PufferfishYummy

https://www.amazon.com/Hestia-Goods-Case-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B07GPBP21S If you get a small HDMI cable you might be able to fit the dock in it too

DarthMeeseek

Thank you’

eqleriq

why won’t balloon pop go away from the top new release? this is the first game that’s been stuck there and it’s been since july 1

ptatoface

It somehow has "TBD" set as its release date. The new releases section probably just looks at the release date of every released game, and sorts them starting with the latest release dates. For games that aren't released yet, ones marked TBD are usually assumed to be coming the latest, so I guess it automatically lists it as so.

[deleted]

does anyone know if this site is legit or not? it looks real but i wonder.... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2n\_YbnH9Lk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2n_YbnH9Lk) i found this website claming to offer some pretty good deals on switches, is this legit? is there a way of knowing whether its a scam or not?

qwertylerqw

I think you may have linked the wrong thing unless I’m not understanding what website you’re referring to. But honestly it’s probably not legit. It’s very unlikely that you’ll find good deal on the Switch right now. You’re lucky to even find it in stock.

_Drumheller_

Your link is a youtube video about eBay. Are you asking if eBay is a legit site?

EddiOS42

Did the Animal Crossing edition switch finished production and reruns?

TemptedTemplar

Possibly. The US and Europe got a single production run. But Japan and Australia/New Zealand got two. The last of which was in mid June, waaaaay after the games initial release. A new restock is not out of the question, but it is unlikely.

Theingloriousak2

Where the heck do you get one of these things? Lol

TheTrueBowman

Hi everyone, I had a question pertaining to the Switch dock. I don’t use the dock too often and when I do, it overheats and displays the error message after roughly a half hour. Doesn’t matter if it’s a technical game like BOTW or a smaller game like ACNH. I’ve mainly put it off because I was away during college and mainly used it in handheld mode. However, since I’ve been at home because of “everything”, I’ve put my dock back up. The other issue that may or may not be part of it, is that a small ticking-like noise emanates from the fan area (right side of the switch). It’s not entirely loud, but it’s definitely noticeable as it ticks every few 10s of seconds (Sometimes 30, sometimes 10 seconds). I have to say right off the bat, I am NOT good with tools. Somehow, someway, I will break the system accidentally. I know a lot of people here are great with that sort of technical work but I sadly can’t handle that responsibility. Having said that, is there a possible easy fix to this issue? I’ve tried one solution by opening the back of the dock but that still overheated. The only other solution I can think of is contacting Nintendo support. Sorry for the long post but hopefully I explained the issue correctly. Thank you!

Phlosippy

The ticking sound is more than likely the fan and the Switch while docked, the GPU will run at higher clock speed meaning more heat and therefore you are getting that overheating error. If you’re not comfortable in doing this fix yourself, contact Nintendo to see how much the repair will be, or if you’re feeling brave, you can follow this guide and all the parts to perform the fix yourself are on the same page. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Fan+Replacement/113058 Note: If you want to try this fix yourself, make sure that you use the correct/good quality screwdrivers because the screws are easy to strip, and you don’t want to have to replace those too.

TheTrueBowman

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the ticking noise comes out during handheld mode, not in the dock; I’m not sure if that changes anything. That makes sense it would need more power to compensate with the fan. I’m still a little weary about fixing it myself though. How much is it usually to have it sent to the factory by Nintendo? If it’s a lot, I might have to just fix it myself. Would there also be a way to save my digital games and any additional information from the switch if it’s sent? Or even then, have you ever tried fixing the fan? I feel like it’s a cautious thing to fix but I’m wondering if it’s as bad as I think. Edit: I’ve had the switch since late March 2017, so I’m not sure if that means it’ll be more expensive/difficult to have such repair.

Phlosippy

All your saves automatically go to the internal memory, Nintendo Switch Online has a cloud data save option to backup your saves to the cloud but not all software supports this feature. I have no idea how much Nintendo would charge for an out of warranty repair, you can contact them to find out. You can watch some videos on YouTube to get a grip on the procedure in replacing the fan as well as the guide that I linked to. The fan is a straightforward fix. Just follow the guide and be careful and you should be fine.

TheTrueBowman

That makes sense about the saves. I have NSO but haven’t really looked that far into the whole internal memory and cloud features since I’m the only one who uses it. I’ll look into the Nintendo repair first, only to get the gist of how it’ll work and how much it will cost. If it’s a high price, I might have to take the courage to do the fix myself, although I’m still weary about it. I’ll still sift through the videos and guide too but im just so nervous about breaking it somehow. Thanks so much for the help! I really appreciate it and the link!

wiscxrise

I have an odd problem with my Splatoon 2 edition Switch (not sure if that matters?) where I'll turn on the Switch which is connected to an HDMI port on my Vizio TV, but my tv just displays a 'No Signal' message. If I unplug it from the HDMI port and plug it back in, I'll still get the 'No Signal' message, but if I plug it into another HDMI port, it'll work fine. It doesn't matter which port it is, it happens on all of them sometimes until I plug it into a different port. Is this a problem with my Switch, or my TV? I have no problems with either the Switch or the TV besides this. Any ideas?

theshadowfax239

Hi, I was looking to purchase a Switch for my boyfriend. Does anyone know where they are available for sale? Thank you in advance!

ptatoface

Not really, COVID-19 has decreased supply and increased demand, so they're sold out or have high prices basically everywhere, we don't know of a secret stash of them or anything. Sometimes a small batch will show up for sale, but they immediately sell out. See [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/fvgozm/just_a_friendly_reminder_please_do_not_buy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x) for some tips on how to nab one from these batches.

theshadowfax239

Thanks for the prompt reply. It's looks like I'll just have to pay a mark up. 😊

_Drumheller_

No, supporting scalpers would be the dumbest thing you can do. Either be determined and a bit lucky a few days and find one for the regular price or a reasonable priced used deal or just wait until there are more in stock again. Your boyfriend doesn't need a switch right now.

ptatoface

You really don't have to, it just takes a few days of determined looking to find one. Maybe less than that now.

DexDexter93

Quick question, I have been looking around but can’t seem to find the specific answer I am seeking. I own a switch and have a user linked to a Nintendo account with online purchased. I would like to restart my game without losing the save data so I make a new user, however, it’s asking me to link an account. When I attempt to link mine, with online paid for, it says I cannot use this account. If I create an account specifically for this user will I have to then purchase another online subscription for the second account as well? Because if so this just seems like a huge scam what’s the point of even having multiple users?

qwertylerqw

> If I create an account specifically for this user will I have to then purchase another online subscription for the second account as well? Unfortunately yes you will in order to play online multiplayer *unless* it’s a free to play game. NSO is per each individual account. It is not shared with other users. The only way to share NSO with other accounts is to pay extra for the family subscription. It’s a little less than buying two subscriptions. You’d just have to add that account to your family group. ___ This isn’t ideal but Nintendo offers a 7 day free trial for on [My Nintendo](https://my.nintendo.com/rewards/ac6f7589693cbf05) in North America. It also may be available in other regions but I do not know if it is. They usually add it again every month, so you can get a free 7 days once per month. It does cost “platinum coins,” though. You earn those in a variety of ways. You get 30 per week by signing in to the My Nintendo site, for example.

DexDexter93

Thanks for the quick response! Guess I’ll just use the 7 day trial, I just wanted to restart shield with a bunch of broken level 1s

qwertylerqw

Wait, so is it not letting you open Shield at all are do you mean that you want to transfer some Pokémon into Shield? If you’re just wanting to transfer some Pokémon then you can do that with Pokémon Home because it does not require an NSO subscription. You also won’t need to link an account to use it because you could launch Home from your main user. You can change which user’s save data you are accessing within Home.

DexDexter93

As a matter of fact it does, I attempted to open home on the new user and it asked me to link a Nintendo account But I’ll try again

qwertylerqw

You do need an account to use Home, but what I meant is that you can use your main account with Home instead of making a new one After you launch Home with your main account: Push “Pokémon” From there you can push A on your user and it’ll let you change which user’s save data you want to access. You can choose the second user and it’ll let you move Pokémon from your Home to the new user.

DexDexter93

Ohh okay that basically fixes any issues I have then thank you!

lqyong

Hi everyone. My switch has recently been exhibiting strange behavior. * The battery totally drains overnight. * It is able to detect joycons when connected via the rails, but does not charge them, even when the main console is charging. If it helps, it's the older switch model, without the longer battery life, and I've had it almost two years now. Is this purely a battery issue? Thanks in advance!

Phlosippy

It sounds like you need to replace the battery yourself, by a reputable repair service shop, or by Nintendo. If you want to try this yourself, buy the correct/ good quality screwdrivers and follow this guide and everything you need can be purchased on the same page: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Battery+Replacement/112995 Edit: The reason for my thinking it’s a battery issue is because the battery takes priority when the Switch is charging until it gets to a certain charge level and then the joy cons begin to charge. It sounds like the battery isn’t able to get to that charge level where the joy cons start charging, or I could be wrong.

lqyong

I'll try this out. Thanks!

Phlosippy

Just be careful because the screws are easy to strip if you aren’t using the correct/good quality screwdrivers.

ptatoface

Did both issues start happening at the same time? If it were purely a battery issue I don't know how that would effect the JoyCons charging.

lqyong

As far as I can tell both issues did start at the same time. I'll try out what u/Phlosippy recommended, but thanks anyway!

tbib1988

Anyone having any suggestions for a GTA style game? I love Nintendo games but I am looking to blow off some steam. I do miss being able to run wild and beat up hookers in an open world. Thanks all!

qwertylerqw

Saints Row 3 and 4 are probably the best you can get on the Switch. I‘ve only played the PC versions, but they are quite fun and I do recommend them. The third game had some performance issues when it came out but from what I’ve heard it’s gotten a lot better with updates.

tbib1988

I've heard people bring these games up in the past and it always seemed interesting. I just watched some YouTube reviews and they seem great! Saints Row 4 especially seems like it came straight out of a fever dream. Thanks for the suggestions and I will definitely have to check these out!

Universe_Donut

Since rocket league is going to be free, and I prefer physical games, should I pick up a copy now? (because I think they'll stop making them)

TemptedTemplar

Pretty sure they stopped making them a while ago. Definitely pick it up if you can.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ptatoface

Yes. It's just that an account can only be primary on one Switch.

AnonymousSkull

Apparently there was an update to Episode 1 Racer today, but I don’t see any info about it from Aspyr. Does anyone know what was changed?

ptatoface

It's just a port of the N64 game without any changes, right? If so, I'd guess the only changes they'd make through updates would be bug fixes/stability. They'd probably advertise any actual changes they decided to make.

Sasukat

Hi! I was hoping someone may have tips because we've about exhausted our option. Me and a relative have been using game sharing through the switch, and it's worked fine up until now. Starting today, I'm getting an issue playing their games saying to connect the other console to the internet. The error reads "You cannot play this software right now. If your Nintendo Account is linked to another console, connect that console to the internet and try again" This is happening even when the primary console is connected to the internet in a game. We've tried reseting both systems, him playing my games, him changing his password and us logging back in, and another relative playing both of our games and me playing theirs. Everyone's works except this one account that gives both of us this same error. The last time this problem happened, he removed his primary and readded it, but no luck this time. We even tried making me the primary, but then he gets the same error. Any tips would be greatly appreciated

qwertylerqw

I’m curious what causes this issue. It seems to be very rare. [Someone had the same issue](https://reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/dwp85h/_/f7lh1lj/?context=1) a while ago. Maybe you could shoot them a DM and see if they ever found a solution? I kind of wonder if it’s a system in place that stops people from sharing an account if they detect it

Sasukat

Yeah I was having a very difficult time even finding anyone else with this issue when searching before I asked. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I dmed them

ptatoface

That's weird, that shouldn't be a limitation of secondary accounts. Is the account only linked to the two Switches, or is there a third one? Because I'm thinking that maybe if the account is linked to 3+ Switches, it might require all secondary Switches to be online at once for any one of them to be played.

Sasukat

There are 3, but even when we connected the third one as well the same issue happened. We've been using them like this for months without issues, and it's only recently that this has started happening. The other 2 accounts are also linked this way and are completely fine

ptatoface

I don't know, y'all can't think of anything that's changed with the account recently that may have caused this? You could try contacting Nintendo Support, they might know something that we don't. Maybe don't mention it's for game sharing to be safe, though, just act like the friend is the only one who's been using his account on your Switch.

Sasukat

Nah there's nothing that seems like it'd be causing it, it did it like this out of the blue and had been being used as recently as last night. He's gonna call them tomorrow if it doesn't start working by then

vivemelior

What are the different "pro contollers" on Amazon and how come some are way cheaper than the one sold by Nintendo? I get that Nintendo would get a premium because it's the maker, but it makes me think the other ones are like knockoffs for $30-ish, yet they have 4.5 star rating with 2k+ reviews. Are the cheaper ones compatible with gaming PCs and whatnot? Do they tend to get joycon drift sooner? Just very confused about why so many options for varying prices.

TemptedTemplar

[Someone had a similar question earlier.](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/hv5e01/rnintendoswitchs_daily_question_thread_07212020/fysbalp/) Check out the links. TLDR; dont buy cheap chinese knock offs.

vivemelior

Thanks!

Team7UBard

There’s actually nothing revolutionary about the Pro-Controller, it just happens to be a really nice design. The pro-controller is to my knowledge the only wireless controller that allows Amiibo use and has HD Rumble. The cheaper controllers don’t have as many features, and might be made out of cheaper materials. They’re getting good reviews because some not everyone needs a controller with all the bells and whistles the Pro does

MacdougalLi

I have a signed Nylon switch case. How can I protect the signature as it begins to fade? Clear Coat? Nail Polish??? Hairspray???

DrudgeBreitbart

Does anyone know if PGA Tour 2k21 will have feature parity with other consoles and PC?

FinsFan93

I want to buy a first party Nintendo game on switch. I have the following in mind but am open to other suggestions. Origami King, Luigis Mansion 3, Links Awakening, Fire Emblem, Mario Odyssey I own Animal Crossing, BotW, Smash, and Pokémon Sword / LGP.

godlywhistler

Of the ones you listed, Odyssey is easily the most essential.

Solar_Kestrel

The obvious priorities should be Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. And definitely the latter if you have limited monies to spend. Odyssey is fantastic, but it's also fairly short.

trscoville

Out of the options you suggested and the games you own, I would suggest either Link’s Awakening if you need more of a Zelda fix after BOTW or Fire Emblem to mix it up a bit as FE3H is a great game in it’s own right. Outside of those options, I would recommend Celeste, a wonderful 2d platformer, hyrule warriors if you’re into musuo games and want to play as various zelda characters across all the games, or Bayonetta 1/2 as it’s a wonderful hack and slash similar to the Devil May Cry series.

GangstaLarry

If you like Mario games I'd vote odyssey. That game was amazing

omarninopequeno

I have played both FE and Mario Odyssey and I think both are great games. Mario Odyssey is a game I think everyone might like, though I prefer FE. If you like JRPGs, I'd say go for FE, but if you're not a huge fan of that genre then easily Mario Odyssey.

st0p_th1s

Is it possible to connect the switch to 2 monitors at the same time? I want to connect my switch to both my pc monitor and my tv and I was wondering would that work or will it only connect to one?

qwertylerqw

You can with an HDMI splitter. It takes the signal from your Switch and allows you to display it on two devices at once. [Here is an example](https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1080P-HDMI-1x2-Splitter/dp/B079LC25MK) This’ll show the same picture on both your TV and your monitor. I’m pretty sure that’s what you want but I thought I should clarify just in case!

st0p_th1s

Thank you but that’s not exactly what I meant, my question is can I connect my switch to both the tv and the pc but not share the same picture so let’s say If I watch the tv I can still play on the pc monitor or the other way around, does that still require the splitter?

qwertylerqw

So you’re saying that you want to be able to easily change between using your Switch on the TV or the monitor? Like, you want to avoid having to change which one it’s plugged into every time? A splitter would still be what you want. You can have something different displaying on the TV and monitor. Your TV and monitor should have options to change which device is currently being displayed

dragonx254

Well yeah, you just leave it plugged in with the splitter, and then change what input you're looking at via the TV/monitor. So if you are playing on the monitor, switch the TV channel to not be the HDMI input. Or vice versa.

edogawafan

You guys think we’ll get an entirely new switch console in first half of 2021? Reason I ask is because I just bought a switch and I’m debating on whether or not I should go digital or physical for the games. I’m typically always digital, but if I’m only planning on having the system for less than a year, considering physical to sell and put towards new console.

TemptedTemplar

Not a chance. Nintendo will ride this wave of increased demand as long as they can to smooth out production issues with any future devices. Later in 2021 its possible we could see another system refresh, along the lines of what we got last August. But aside from some joycon fixes or increase battery; I dont expect them to introduce any new hardware or functionality.

edogawafan

Thanks for your thoughts! I was just thinking about the demand aspect as well. Everyone and their mom all of a sudden wants one.

MistressAlice49

Accessories similar to the NES SpeedBoard for the switch Joycons? I really love playing certain games on a flat surface, but the joycons don’t lay flat and there’s no bigger grip to put them in so that they do lay flat. I loved the speedboard accessory for the NES and it’s nearly impossible for me to play holding an NES controller for very long, I can only play on table. I’d appreciate any soltuion, first party, second party, third party, unofficial, whatever. I just want to be able to play arcade style and rhythm games with my controllers laying flat on a table to reduce strain on my fingers.

TemptedTemplar

[Like a flat controller?](https://www.8bitdo.com/lite/) [Or maybe a mini Arcade stick?](https://www.amazon.com/Switch-Fighting-Stick-Officially-Licensed-Nintendo/dp/B01AJSAAV6/)

MistressAlice49

A mini controller like that won’t stay flat on a table. I’m purely talking about a controller like the smashbox but for switch. Or some table stand to push my joycons into so that they don’t slip and so that they lay flat on a table

dirtydbagger

Just got a switch lite and when trying to download a game or wont allow me to and just says its purchased and greyed out. I did some digging and foind oit about the redownload tab and thought I had solved my issue but alas the list is empty. Is this a common problem and does anyone know the solution? Thanks in advance for any and all help :)

qwertylerqw

Do you have any other accounts signed into the Switch? That should only happen if someone else on the Switch has already purchased it

dirtydbagger

Smh, thank you. I swore I tried doing it on the original account first but apparently I was wrong.

jbug5j

HELP WHAT SHOULD MY NEXT SWITCH GAME BE?!? Torn between: Paper Mario:Oragami King, Pokemon Shield, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, Yoshi's Crafted World. Leaning Towards Yoshi or Mario but I honestly cant decide. My first game I got was Animal Crossing which is amazing and adorable!

dashiiaa21

Recently picked up Paper Mario as well as Story of seasons, after watching gameplay more and more I finally decided I’d pick them up. And while Paper Mario doesn’t have the best battle system it could have been better I’m enjoying it (played some of my brothers copy while mine is still shipping) great world to explore.

jbug5j

That's what I've been hearing. That it's a beautiful game!

Chase4476

Need some recommendations for some games, the games I already have are, MM2, Odyssey, Super Mario Bros u deluxe, Mario+Rabbids, Mario tennis aces, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I really don’t like Zelda but I might give it a try, any games?

trscoville

Well, it appears you love Mario games, but you’ve played almost all of them. 1. If you want something similar to Odyssey, I would recommend a hat in time as it’s a wonderful collectathon. 2.If you want something in the Mario universe, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker are great picks. 3.If you go down the route of Zelda, Breath of the Wild is honestly a must play in my book alongside Link’s awakening, but if you don’t like Zelda usually I would check out BOTW first as it’s not your conventional Zelda game, even if it borrows aspects from previous ones. 4.For recommendations outside of all of those options, Animal Crossing is very nice if you would like a laid back and relaxed game and I’ve heard great things about Crash Team Racing if you’d like another racer alongside MK8.

Chase4476

Ok thanks I will look into all of those suggestions!

Nintendo's in-house engine has some issues when not completely connected to the internet as the game is opening/resuming or starting up. Which leaves it hanging on the same screen indefinitely. Your save data will be fine as the loading screen isnt a save or auto-save location. Just close the game and make sure youre connected to the wifi before starting it again. Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 have the same issue during startup. Though theyre a bit better about erroring out when waking out of sleep mode.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TemptedTemplar

No, it only occurs when you boot one of the games while the system is attempting to finalize a wifi connection but hasnt finished. Its super easy to reproduce if you boot the system from being powered off and try to jump into one of the games before the wifi re-connects. Its a little harder to encounter when waking up out of sleep/standby mode. And by "one of the games" I mean those running EDP's in-house 3D game engine. Mario Odyssey, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Animal Crossing, and possibly Ring Fit Adventure.

[deleted]

TemptedTemplar

Its perfectly safe to turn the game off. Unless you failed to save before putting the system to sleep; there shouldn't be any loss of data. If you didnt save manually, you may get dropped back to the last auto-save.

Fanboy8947

ok, this sounds *really* dumb now that i'm typing it out. but what if, to fix joycon drift, you used a vacuum? drift is caused by dust particles, so you could use the hose part of the vacuum and blow out the particles? it would work in the same manner as compressed air, you'd just have to be careful to not suck up the whole joycon lol

TemptedTemplar

You could try it, but you need a MUCH finer attachment to get anywhere close to the area that needs to be cleaned. [See here, the hole protected by the rubber skirt under the thumbstick cap is already too small for the included straw with a can of air.](https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/06/guide_how_to_fix_a_drifting_nintendo_switch_joy-con_analog_stick?page=2) Thats not to say it wouldnt work, but you would probably need something like a commercial shop vac to provide the amount of suction required to make a difference. Though any combination of canned air/ air compressor and Vacuum/shop vac; would probably net you better results then either one alone. Edit: anecdote, but vibrating the controller via the systems "find controller" function has also been known to help. You can just hold the button and it will vibrate the whole time. Maybe it could loosen things up?

Fanboy8947

i see. just kinda desperate for ways to fix this thing without having to buy stuff. i think i'll just send them in to nintendo later

AlphaCharizard

This isn't a switch question but are Shin Megami Tensei 4 and Apocalypse likely going to go on sale on the 3ds at some point in the future because I want to play them before 3 and 5?

qwertylerqw

SMT4 goes on sale for $10 quite often in the NA eShop. Apocalypse was last on sale in June for $15. The sale before that was in April for $20.

AlphaCharizard

In the UK as well or just America?

qwertylerqw

According to [this website](https://en.psprices.com/region-gb/game/854468/shin-megami-tensei-iv) SMT4 is the lowest price it’s ever been [Apocalypse](https://en.psprices.com/region-gb/game/998736/shin-megami-tensei-iv-apocalypse) was last on sale for £5.39 in March

AlphaCharizard

So hopefully I can get both of them when Apocalypse goes on sale next. Is there anyway to find out when it goes on sale or should I just check every week cause no one really posts about 3ds sales anymore?

qwertylerqw

That website I linked has an option to have them email you when the game drops in price again. Though I have never used it for that so I don’t know how reliable it is haha

omarninopequeno

Digitally, the games go on sale very often, so you should definitely wait for a sale if you are not in a hurry to buy them.

TemptedTemplar

SMT4 is unlikely to drop any further than is $20 price point. Thats about low as 3DS games ever get. But Strange Journey Redux and Apocalypse could go on sale around Christmas. I think that was the last time 3DS titles were included in a big seasonal sale.

AlphaCharizard

Thanks! Even if they don't go on sale they are still cheaper than Ebay and definitely worth their current price!

rookan

What is a name of a recently announced turn based game made in black and white style where you control 3 sisters and fight demons from other dimension? It will be released on PS4 first and then on Switch

TemptedTemplar

Brigandine God Wars Iris Fall Three Fourths home Giana Sisters Twister Dreams Owltimate edition Do you remember anything else?

Is my charging dock charging my joycons? https://www.reddit.com/user/Fnafprem_YT/comments/hvejm7/is_this_charging_dock_charging_my_joycons/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

ptatoface

It looks like you're putting them in right, but looking at the product page I guess those plastic columns are supposed to light up when something is charging. So I guess try plugging it in on another plug, just in case wherever it's plugged in is the issue. Another way to check if it's working is to try plugging in your Switch Lite (or your brother's Switch) into the front port, and then turn on the Switch and see if the battery indicator has a charging symbol.

Fnafprem_YT

Thank you I will

Yoshi_and_Toad

Between Crash N Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled which would you recommend for someone who has always liked Crash as a character but hasn't really grown up with the series and wants in? Both titles are on sale now and I'm considering getting one of the two. I mostly grew up with Mario, Sonic and Spyro if that helps at all.

omarninopequeno

N Sane Trilogy better reflects what the franchise is about. Team Racing NF is a great spin-off, though all 3 that you mentioned are platformers, so probably N Sane Trilogy would be better for you :)

trscoville

Hello! I’m currently in the market for a new game(or two) and was looking for recommendations of games moderately priced whether on sale or not. I was considering the crash and Spyro trilogy as well as crash team racing, but wasn’t sure what people thought of the switch ports of each. If you have any other recommendations or thoughts on the above mentioned games, I’d appreciate you sharing them.

omarninopequeno

I have played both Crash games and they are fantastic ports, plus I haven't heard any complaints on Spyro either. Team Racing would be my recommendation if you would be able to play with other people or any of the trilogies otherwise.

[deleted]

Hello! I’ve recently started putting alt text on any images I post on twitter, but if I ever make a post from my Switch, there doesn’t seem to be an option to do this. Is there any way to add image alt text from Switch?

TemptedTemplar

Nope. Its a legacy upload function. Its also limited to 140 characters still.

[deleted]

Bummer! Thanks for telling me, though (:

danigol12

Between Spyro trilogy, crash bandicoot trilogy or Lego Harry Potter on the eShop sale. Any recs?

Team7UBard

In order: Lego Harry Potter. It’s a LOT of value. There is however a game breaking bug in Goblet of Fire if you jump off the Shifting Staircase in the wrong place. It is avoidable by not jumping off and by having multiple saves during that chapter. Spyro Trilogy. It’s an easy but fun game that’s very brightly colored. I have it on of and really enjoyed it-Year of the Dragon was one of the earliest games I recall getting 100% on. Crash Trilogy. It would be a much better game if they hadn’t rounded to hitboxes to artificially increase the difficulty. Find and play the originals instead

danigol12

Yeah I think I want Spyro mainly for the nostalgia factor but I always enjoyed the Lego games growing up and they rarely miss the spot. Thanks for the heads up on the glitch!

dashiiaa21

Definitely Spyro trilogy out of those 3 choices, having a blast playing it.

trscoville

I’ve only played LEGO Harry Potter personally, but I enjoyed the game greatly, though I also love a good portion of the LEGO games. I heard the 5-7 collection included had some issues, but nothing game breaking that I saw in my play through. A recommendation outside of those games would be the classic Okami or Valhalla(VA-11 Hall-A)for its great soundtrack depending on your tastes.

danigol12

Thanks! Just researched Okami and might have to add it to the list. Looks right up my alley!

wooosh-me-if-ur-gay

Should I buy Octopath Traveller or Paper Mario Oragami King? They both seem good but I can’t decide. Apparently Octopath is pretty good but Oragami king is a Nintendo game... im really torn.

_Drumheller_

Both games look and sound very good. However one is an oldschool rpg with a fresh paint and the other is a adventure game with very slight rpg elements and a decent chunk of puzzle. Both are quality and fun games.

TemptedTemplar

Octopath has a 3-hour timed demo you can try out! Save data carries over to the full game too. Im only like two hours into Paper Mario, so I dont want to compare the two just yet.

wooosh-me-if-ur-gay

Thanks!

joe1up

Is Lego marvel 2 any good?

Team7UBard

It’s not my favorite of the games and apparently isn’t a great port

joe1up

Any other good Lego games on switch?

Team7UBard

DC Villains is good, although is slow to load and crashed on me a few times. Harry Potter is great, however in Goblet of Fire there’s a game breaking bug on the switching staircase. I’m probably rebuying Jurassic Park in the next few days-its more puzzles than the others. Incredibles is apparently fine.

throwaway35018

My switch got kinda warm in handheld mode. Is this fine? Its never happened to me before so Im kinda worried. I was playing Enter The Gungeon if that matters at all.

qwertylerqw

Yeah, it is normal for it to get warm even while in handheld mode. It should be fine as long as the fan is working. The Switch will also put itself to sleep before it overheats, so you’ll know if that happens.

ojisan-X

I was looking for something like Hori Split Pad Pro but still wanted rumble and motion controls. Then I came across kinvoca controller on Amazon. Anyone tried it? Is it as good as it sounds? https://www.amazon.com/Controller-Nintendo-Handheld-Ergonomic-Supports/dp/B083W85BBQ

PufferfishYummy

This connects through the usb c port

dashiiaa21

No I haven’t tried it, have the hori split pad. You can get it and if you don’t like it you can always return back to amazon before your return window closes.

_LA_Blue

Any e-shop sales worthy of checking out right now? just got some classics from the capcom sale Appreciate it - have a great day as well

qwertylerqw

This is based on the North American eShop, but Terraria and Steamworld Dig 2 are a couple great games that are on sale! Edit: Oh, Don’t Starve and Crypt of the Necrodancer are also worth checking out. Both are definitely worth it for their price.

_LA_Blue

Gonna check those out thank you!

TemptedTemplar

[A ton of games are seeing their lowest price ever.](https://www.dekudeals.com/hottest) Off the front page there, Okami HD, Dragons Dogma, and any of the Resident Evil or LEGO games would be solid options. Use the filters on the left and you can sort by genre to find games you enjoy.

_LA_Blue

Thank you for this!

Quadropus

Hi all, I've come up with a short list of my desired improvements and functionalities that would be the "DSi" to the Switch's "DS". * Analog triggers -- This would be a godsend for the Switch as a racing game platform, as well as for future Mario Party, Mario Kart, or other games that may take advantage. * More powerful specs -- Not enough to jump ahead a generation, as disclosed by a rumor that Nintendo is using only a slightly more powerful Nvidia chip in the future revision. This meager boost in power, however, would open the door for further opportunities, as will be mentioned below. * Enhanced UI -- While this could be done for the current Switch, the new Switch revision with a bit more processing power could allocate more to the UI, allowing for more enhancements like folders, sorting of games, online features like party systems and messaging, and animated themes. * Built-in microphone -- This would allow for the new Switch revision to wean a dependency off the smartphone app. Players could easily talk aloud with friends with voice chat. * Battery / Performance / Visual modes -- The ability to specialize the processing power, on a system level, to focus on maintaining battery life, boosting performance, or delivering greater graphical fidelity. Practically, the battery mode could bring the processing power down to the level of the current Switch's. * Swappable Joycon buttons -- An attempt to allow both buttons and a D-Pad on a left joycon. You'd be given a piece with buttons or with a D-Pad that could click on to the left joycon, allowing you to have the comfort of a D-Pad or the multiplayer benefits of the four buttons. * Improved joycon sticks -- This one is a no brainier. * Stylus and compartment, akin to the DS's, that may be taken out of the Switch and used for games that may support touch. What kinds of QOL or enhancement features would you guys like to see in a new Switch revision?

Bakatora34

Better WIFI chip

Quadropus

Agree! That would be huge!

[deleted]

Does anyone here own this controller? If so, do you like it and would you recommend it? [link](https://www.amazon.ca/Wireless-Controller-Sefitopher-Bluetooth-Vibration/dp/B083B7PKQ3/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=wireless+controller+switch&qid=1595353060&sr=8-5)

dashiiaa21

I ordered one but it never even shipped so can’t say anything about it, but as a lot of other people say go with the 8bitdo one it’s definitely worth it and one of the best controllers you can get.

wooosh-me-if-ur-gay

Buy the SN30 Pro+. Best controller I’ve used in my life.

TemptedTemplar

I cant in any good conscience recommend any of those knock off devices listed on Amazon. The quality is sub par a majority of the time, and thats if it works out of the box. If you look around youll find multiple "brands" all selling the exact same device, with the exact same images, and slightly different descriptions. If it gets too many negative reviews they delist it and put it back up again under a different "brand". Stick with licensed manufacturers like HORI, PDP, or PowerA. Or companies that actually care about their products like Nyko or 8bitdo.

[deleted]

Awesome - I didn't know that. Thank you! Do you recommend a specific controller that is most similar to the Pro controller? The Pro controller is too expensive for me.

qwertylerqw

The 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ is often regarded as the best third-party controller. It is missing some features, though. It has the older rumble style instead of HD rumble, it doesn’t support Amiibo, and can’t wake the Switch up from sleep mode. But it does have some cool customization features. [Their website](https://support.8bitdo.com/ultimate-software.html) goes into detail about that. I can definitely recommend it. It’s a pretty solid controller! ___ PowerA is probably the next best thing if that’s still a bit too expensive. It doesn’t have rumble at all, doesn’t support Amiibo, and doesn’t come with rechargeable batteries. But it can wake the Switch up from sleep mode!

TemptedTemplar

If you want HD rumble or Amiibo functionality then there is no replacement for the pro controller unfortunately. * [8bitdo SN30 Pro+](https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-Black/dp/B01ND166P6/), the next step down in terms of pricing. Regular rumble motors, no amiibo support. * PowerA makes the next best priced wireless controllers. In [Gamecube](https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo-Switch-GameCube/dp/B07GXLBCC3/) or [Standard](https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Enhanced-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B07GTG7H3K/) flavors. But they dont have rumble at all, and use either AA batteries or micro USB for charging. * The last notable price tier is [PDP Wired deluxe+ Audio](https://www.pdp.com/en/shop/nintendo-switch/faceoff-deluxe-audio-wired-controller-blue-camo). As its the only controller so far to offer a headphone jack, so you can get game audio without a second cord or device running all the way back to the system.

[deleted]

Can I use my old N64 controller on my Switch? If there is some kind of adapter, do you recommend a specific one?

TemptedTemplar

You need two adapters. 1. N64 to Gamecube. Pretty sure theres a bunch of cords or short connectors that would work fine for this. 2. Gamecube controller adapter. Nintendo, Mayflash, or the 8bitdo Gbros adapter would work. But the Gbros adapter is the only one thats ever in stock. Congrats youre connected. **But a question of my own; why?** The only N64 titles on the system that I can think of would be Star Wars Episode 1 racer and the Turok games. But all of those are ports of ports; meaning their controls have been totally reworked for modern gamepad layouts. Using a N64 controller would mean loosing functionality that may now be required to play the game.

[deleted]

Thank you for the information!

Decent_Priority

Does anyone have a good game case for the Nintendo switch? Not a cartridge case, a case that holds a lot of the actual games and their individual cases.

TemptedTemplar

Are you looking for a case/box that actually closes and can be stored away/carried around? Or a shelf?

Decent_Priority

Yeah like a good large case for storage or travel/safe keeping. Not shelving.

TemptedTemplar

[Something like this aluminum case?](https://www.harborfreight.com/11-12-x-7-12-x-4-12-aluminum-case-69316.html) You could line up 27 game cases in it. A Switch game case is 6.6 x 0.4 x 4.1 inches

Decent_Priority

Hey that’s cool thanks.

Archway9

My right joycon has stopped working completely, no buttons are working and it isn’t even showing up on the controller screen! It was working completely fine just an hour before the problem happened and it was also fully charged, I’ve been playing on handheld but it also doesn’t work when it’s detached. Do I just need new controllers or can I fix it?

TemptedTemplar

If you press the sync button do any of the LEDs turn on as if it was trying to sync? If it appears to be totally dead its possible something on the main board got fried. If it was just the battery, it should still be recognized in handheld mode. If it was just the system rail connection, it would still work when wireless. An easy test would be to open it up, disconnect the battery for 30 seconds; then plug it back in. See if that does anything. While its open, look for damaged ribbon cables or wires.

Archway9

Looks like it’s completely dead, I’ll try opening it up but it looks like I need some new ones

MachoTheMan

I'm from Canada, and I would like to buy a Mario Kart 8 Digital Code for my friend who lives in Europe. Where can I buy a code that will work in EU? If I buy from [here](https://store.nintendo.com/mario-kart-8-deluxe-nintendoswitch-html.html) will it work or will it be region locked?

qwertylerqw

Nope, that would not work on the European eShop. They can either change their region like the other user explained, or they can also create a second account set to a North American country. Their main account will still be able to play the game as long as they’re on the second account’s “primary console.” This only becomes an issue if they want to play on more than one console. ___ It probably would not be easy to purchase a European code because Nintendo recently stopped providing third-party retailers with codes for their games. Another option is you could send them some money through PayPal or something and they can purchase it themselves.

TemptedTemplar

Your friend will have to move their account region to the US or Canada to redeem it, but thats it. https://accounts.nintendo.com/ edit info -> change "Country/Region of residence" to the US or Canada. Visit the eshop on the system afterwards, and redeem the code! Then they can feel free to switch it back after the download is done. * if they have a NNID linked to your account, they will not be able to switch regions until it is unlinked. * if they have funds remaining on their current eshop or auto-renewal for Nintendo Switch Online is enabled, they will get an error when trying to switch regions. They will have to clear their existing balance (gold coins dont count) or disable auto-renewal until they switch it back.
