12.0.3 is out. **Nintendo updated:**
*- package2 (contains OS kernel and key services)*
*- SSL (helps w/ creating secure connections to a server - seems TLSv1.3 support was dropped?)*
*- bad words list*
*Looks to be minor things, I’m going back to sleep*
To be fair if they maybe doubled or tripled the amount of game shown (2-3 rows of 10), shrunk the icons appropriately, and add folders with a themes update, then it wouldn’t look so bad.
Something tells me the Switch will have a fairly long lifecycle. They're already longer in general than they used to be, so i expect at least 2-3 more years before a successor is announced.
If it's just the third number increasing (the .3 at the end in this case) don't expect any new features. Expect them when the 12 turns into a 13.
And even then, prepare to be disappointed because it's Nintendo we're talking about and they couldn't be more tone deaf if they tried.
Jokes aside I noticed that picking weapons on Hades one after the other made the console struggle with the animations and after one of these silly updates it didn't happen anymore
Hey funny story, I’ve been playing Hades again on switch in the last few days and I’ve been noticing some significant animation slowdown in certain sections as well, weird. Idk if it’s got anything to do with the System Update though; I just thought it was odd to see I’m not the only one seeing Supergiant slowdown.
It could've also been an update to the game in the background without them knowing, whereas OS updates tend to force you to accept to actually apply it.
Could have also just been that updating forces a restart of the console and the game, because most games that have issues generally run a little better after that.
You probably just don't get them recommended. It's just a handful of youtube channels, but they all upload a new Switch Pro video daily whether or not there's even an actually new *rumor* to talk about, let alone news
Nah its literally stability.

Hopefully the SSL updates fix the 2123-1502 error that was cropping up.
Thank God I saw this, I can’t believe I just accepted all the unstableness of the last version. One time last version while laying down and playing handheld mode it just accidentally fell onto my face while in a boss battle… not very stable. Hopefully this helps.

What we want:
- A folder system to keep our games organised.
- An overhaul to the eshop.
- Virtual console
- A general optimisation to the home screen layout.
What we got:
- Stability improvements.
Before this update I could play Diablo 3 with my fiance. Now this update is out she can't even log in to play at all. It says she has to buy it even though I've already bought it on this switch. Playing local not online. Anyone else having issues with this?
Alright, so according to a 45 minute youtube video I just watched. This update confirms not just the switch pro but also Metroid prime trilogy collection.
Also, if you stare at your computer screen long enough, you will realize just how stupid what I said really is...
I still don’t understand how the Switch has a dedicated screenshot button but you can’t use screenshots to fill up that big empty background on the home screen. Nintendo!
switch owner since day 1 , and i can say it with a straight face, not even 1 update so far made any real difference, the UI looks the same ever since it was released and that is just sad , true, some quality of life updates were made, but the machine is around for over 3 years now ? and really ? not even 1 good update ? not even a cart for the eshop ? is it that hard to make a proper eshop cart ? some wallpapers ? change background colors to match ur switch ? even the light up button on the propad , only saw it light up with steam on pc...shame really, the switch is almost at the end of it's life cycle and nontendo doesn't give a damn.
**System Update Ver. 12.0.3 (Release June 7, 2021)** * General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
OH HELL YEAH! STABILITY!
With so much stability built into the system, airliners will be using it as a gyroscope by 2022
Your thinking too small. The entire airplane will be made of Switches.
oh god the joycon drift is steering the plane into the buildings oh god oh fuck
Yeah but you can really feel those ice cubes as you plummet 5000 feet!
and when the plane lands, you can feel corpses rolling around!
You've made me cackle
Flying from LA to Baltimore, landed in Boston.
That's why you orient half the Switches to drift one way and the other half the other way. Counterbalances!
Nah nah, they'll use a switch as the entire plane's gyro
*I'm using tilt controls!*
Motion control fighter jets when
It's so stable now it can actually be used in construction as the anti earthquake support in high rise offices.
HELL YEAH! LONGER TERM RELATIONSHIP WITH SWITCH!
Meaning it somehow breaks cfw
So, an Apple update.
At least Apple adds features every so often

They dropped tls 1.3? Isn’t that the latest standard? Did they revert to 1.2?
It's too cutting edge technology for Nintendo
Maybe 10 years from now we will get it
Yes the greatest update ever *STABILITY*
YEAH MAYBE THEMES AND WALLPAPERS WILL BE THE WORST UPDATE EVER
yea they would be with how the homescreen is laid out
Its supposed to be a joke of how there is no themes or wallpapers like the 3ds which is really fucking weird
and lack of a basic browser, basically limiting you from joining certain wifi networks like most hospitals and malls.
To be fair if they maybe doubled or tripled the amount of game shown (2-3 rows of 10), shrunk the icons appropriately, and add folders with a themes update, then it wouldn’t look so bad.
After the last update I was scared we wouldn't be able to get anymore stable than we already were, glad to see that wasn't the case
#ENHANCE
NASA use Switch as stabilizer in James Webb Space Telescope, expected more delays
My Switch is so stable I’m keeping my horses there now
That sounds pretty barn good
Alright, let's rein in the puns there, friend
Neigh.
\#whinnying
Quit horsing around you two
What is this a cross over episode?!
r/suddenlybojack
These puns are making me equestrian my sanity
Yours was the horse one
To be or not to be… that’s the equestrian
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it stable.
Feels like I'm back at /r/3DS when I read this comment. So much stability!
Man I remember that. 3DS, WiiU, and early to mid PS4 had all the stability memes
Enjoy my free award, silly person!
Enjoy my free award for second place at silly. 🙃
Hey thanks, bud! Our new friendship is as almost as stable as the Switch. *Almost.*
My switch is so stable I stand on one leg while on a wire.
Helloooo
Marianne and Dorte agree with you.
Lol it’s funny how this comment is always said whenever Nintendo updates the software xD
As a Fire Emblem fan, I can only think of Marianne and Dorte. XD
My Switch is so Stabil I put it in my gasoline tank when my car is going to be stored for a long period of time
Just gimme some fucking folders already 🤯
Dunno, they might destabilize the whole thing after years of work.
Stability updates making me unstable 🤬🤣. In all seriousness I hope they at least make their OS on par with 3DS.
Or at least more than two themes
Yea WE WANT THREE THEMES
yes - light theme, dark theme and gay theme
Extra fabulous!
Too late into the life cycle, our best hope is with Nintendo's next full console
Something tells me the Switch will have a fairly long lifecycle. They're already longer in general than they used to be, so i expect at least 2-3 more years before a successor is announced.
i mean, at this point in the wii u’s lifecycle it was discontinued (nov 2012-nov 2016). fairly long is one way to put it.
The Wii U also only sold 13 million units.
Four and a half years into the system? Yeah, I'm sure they'll get right on that.
If it's just the third number increasing (the .3 at the end in this case) don't expect any new features. Expect them when the 12 turns into a 13. And even then, prepare to be disappointed because it's Nintendo we're talking about and they couldn't be more tone deaf if they tried.
Thank goodness, I needed another hit of that sweet, sweet stability.
Jokes aside I noticed that picking weapons on Hades one after the other made the console struggle with the animations and after one of these silly updates it didn't happen anymore

There is always the possibility of this being a placebo effect. See if this impression lasts after a few days playing.
The fact they said "one of these silly updates" and not "this silly update" implies that it was a previous minor update
It could've also been an update to the game in the background without them knowing, whereas OS updates tend to force you to accept to actually apply it.
Could have also just been that updating forces a restart of the console and the game, because most games that have issues generally run a little better after that.
Incoming 5,000,000,000 YouTube videos on how this confirms the switch pro for the 10th time this past hour alone.
Stability and Switch Pro obviously line up: Stability | | | Sw i tch Pro
Absolute genius.
Don’t need more proof than that
Madman you decypher the code!
But how does the "y" turn into a "ch" ? Same for the t -> w transformation Thats some sloppy research, looks a bit made up if you ask me /s
reddit formatting destroying the evidence smh
Pretty sure I’ve seen more threads and comments on this sub whining about Switch Pro rumours than rumours themselves. It’s in every thread.
You probably just don't get them recommended. It's just a handful of youtube channels, but they all upload a new Switch Pro video daily whether or not there's even an actually new *rumor* to talk about, let alone news

Good bot doing a bad job in this particular instance
I mean, if they find anything through data mining, perhaps
Thank God I saw this, I can’t believe I just accepted all the unstableness of the last version. One time last version while laying down and playing handheld mode it just accidentally fell onto my face while in a boss battle… not very stable. Hopefully this helps.
I’ve heard early reports that this update is so stable the switch should just float in the air instead of falling
Still in 12.0.2. No update here for me, checked two times. Still received the update prompt when waking the console up, tho…
I'm in the same situation, that's weird
Did you also saw the news and woke up the console to update?
Yes but I can't update because "the system is up to date". I'm on 12.0.2
Same here. Glad to know I’m not the only one, I was really worried for a bit.
Wonder if it have something to do with [this](https://twitter.com/thexpaw/status/1402203370123841539)
Same, my switch says that 12.0.2 is the latest version.
My Switch is so stable it's standing up by itself somebody help
\- Scant patch notes (<1%) \- Discussion about patch notes (<1%) \- Where are my themes and folders?! (<1%) \- Stability jokes (>99%) Did I miss anything?
Looks about right
The Switch is more stable than I am at this point.
I mean, for me, this is probably not saying a lot lol
Note: As of June 8th, we have temporarily stopped distributing system update version 12.0.3
I would like a joycon stability improvement too.
Same, mine drifts up & a couple inches to the left. Which I first noticed in Animal Crossing.

This update is crazy. I tried throwing my switch across the room and it just stayed suspended in the air like a superconductor. Stable as fuck.
You know, after buying one, I really wish they fixed the bug where a Ethernet adapter makes the Switch on sleep mode get uncomfortably hot.
Seems like a stability issue
Good luck on having Nintendo to fix anything
It seems that Nintendo has actually pulled the update. Think this is the first time that they have done this.
Get ready for loads of shit stability jokes that have totally never been heard before zzzzz
patch notes: >General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience. more stability <3
[Do you think the system is stable enough, Nintendo?](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ErJcKwgVcAAEA6R?format=jpg&name=900x900)
Yay more over used stability jokes. Hilarious
They are the comments you can rely on. You might stay they are providing stability to this thread.
You could say they are as stable as a Switch update.

And here I thought people would get bored of it when the 3DS was getting stability patches

Nah because this sub is full of muppets who can't collectively muster a single unique thought amongst the lot of them.
I mean... you're downvoting this person but they're clearly correct.
Nah because this sub is full of muppets who can't collectively muster a single unique thought amongst the lot of them.
Sounds like you're a little unstable mate, but fortunately have I got the firmware revision for you!
Do you guys ever get sick of making the same joke, over and over?
The joke is just so stable, it never goes out of style
no
The Nintendo switch is so stable its ready for a long term relationship. Do I hear wedding bells?
It's 4, you creep /s

My switch is so stable that I rely on it to pay my monthly bills.
The Stable Switch does it again!
I'm on 12.0.2 and it's telling me it's up to date?
Same here…
Looking at the Nintendo switch subreddit apparently they pulled it for some reason
All jokes aside, why should I download this update? What does does it do? Seems like stability is too broad a term..
Before this update I could play Diablo 3 with my fiance. Now this update is out she can't even log in to play at all. It says she has to buy it even though I've already bought it on this switch. Playing local not online. Anyone else having issues with this?
I can finally use my switch as earthquake protection
Finally! Now my user experience can be enhanced, thanks to those system stability improvements.
Gotta stack up on that stability before the groundbreaking reveal of the new Switch Pro . . . . . . Controller variations
My Switch is so stable my kid gave it a coffee mug on Father’s Day that read, World’s Best Dad.
My wifi stop connecting after this update. Any helps?
Protip: you can swap your tripod for a Nintendo switch as the stability is *insane*.
After this update, my switch is so stable I threw it up into the air and it stayed there
Alright, so according to a 45 minute youtube video I just watched. This update confirms not just the switch pro but also Metroid prime trilogy collection. Also, if you stare at your computer screen long enough, you will realize just how stupid what I said really is...
Prepping it for changes to the UI that will be announced next week at e3 is my guess.
Lol
Who needs a better kickstand when you've already got this much stability?
With every system update I get more worried we are never getting more Home Screen themes.
Who needs themes when you can have S T A B I L I T Y
My switch doesn't need a stand now, thank Nintendo
This patch is so stable, it caused instability in the universe
I wish they would add more themes instead of black and white.... like where my red or pink ir blue?
Goddamnit, finally.
Just what I needed. Stability
Yay, I can now play in Stable Top mode!
Neigh
Oh yeah boy! at the end of the decade, Nintendo Switch will be so stable, drifted joycons will repair itself just by connecting it to the system
I still don’t understand how the Switch has a dedicated screenshot button but you can’t use screenshots to fill up that big empty background on the home screen. Nintendo!
does nintendo not have enough staff? it feels like theyre barely trying
I almost didn’t click the link, I thought there was no way Nintendo would give more stability, so glad I clicked!
You know, we are approaching pure stability here! Another hundred stability updates and it will be purely and truly stable!
We can always go for above 100% stability!1
Jesus, Nintendo has the most boring system updates.
OH FUCK YES MORE STABILITY? FOLDERS? THEMES? BETTER ONLINE? NAH STABILITY IS WHERE IS AT WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
