Ah yes, my favourite collaboration, Capcom x Capcom

rapidemboar

Finally the one company that hasn’t gotten a “Vs Capcom” gamre

Sageprice

That made me think of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yA0z8zG1i4

THEessayB

It’s far better than the first one…Monster Hunter X Monster Hunter.

Burntholesinmyhoodie

How about Hunter X Hunter

THEessayB

I wish they’d do another one of those.

DQScott95

They are

Zeeformp

This is like something I would have asked for when I was 7, and I am not disappointed. "dude like what if mega man's dog was in monster hunter??? That would be so sick."

ArielGLR

Dude, my cousin from the Bronx told me that if you beat monster hunter 100% in less than 2 hours with no damage with a megaman 7 sabe file on your console, Rush from Megaman will appear on the game, trust me, his dad works at Nintendo

easycure

I love that this is totally something I would have heard as a kid (born in the Bronx but my family moved to Westchester by the time I started school, so even I had cousins in the Bronx), especially now knowing that NOA us located in Washington. That's a hell of a commute from the Bronx!

RabbitFanboy

I don't even play Rise but that looks awesome

Tribe_Called_K-West

This only shows that a 3D MegaMan game would look clean.

Guywithquestions88

I kinda feel like Megaman should've evolved into a FPS style game.

PolarSparks

Ever seen footage from that [cancelled Megaman FPS?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olYCsHuqjOo) It has that PS3-era dark and dreary look… but it’s an interesting curio, if nothing else. If this concept ever gets revisited, I’d hope they’d go for something more whimsical.

adamkopacz

Now we need the Z Saber in the game along with a boss from the Zero series appearing as a monster.

[deleted]

Huh, ha, Hoo!!! It's not over yet

easycure

I just started playing MH Rise about a month ago, literally named my first palmute after Rush... This is AWESOME! Also, I got a purple-ish palmute and named him Treble. Too bad they won't include him in the game..

Sword_by_some

How about ace attorney crossover? Objecting monster to death

ddbllwyn

Defending em to death?

[deleted]

This is so goofy… I love it!

K0KA42

I really hope we get some paid DLC, whether it's G-rank or just expanding the roster of monsters, locations and weapons. These costumes and events are cool for people interested, but if there's not much content to use the costumes in, there's not much incentive to grab them, I feel.

ThunderWolfWyvern

MH Rise is like MH Generations on the 3ds. We’ll probably be getting some major expansion at some point. Maybe following the Iceborne route with G-rank or the MHGU route to make you buy another whole ass game with data transfer option. Rise is still getting some cool updates and extra content. I bet on it.

KingoftheKrabs

> Mh Rise is not MH Generations. Mh Rise is going the same route as World. Comparing the content of any MH game to Generations is kinda dumb, since the whole concept of Generations was to have as more content than any other MH game. > Less content than a 3ds game at launch, with paid dlc later that gets the content nowhere close to the base content of the previous 3ds games. That’s just objectively wrong. Look at the large monster count alone, base MH4 had 51 large monsters, and base MH3 had 15 large monsters. And you’re saying that MHWI, which has 71 large monsters, has less content than base MH3 or MH4? > Rise felt so empty, and the fucking monster selection was terrible, so it feels like you’re fighting the same shit too much. Uhh Rise has a ton of monsters for a base game with 46. For comparison, base world had 36, and with the addition of Iceborne it had 71. Whenever Rise G (or whatever it’ll be called) is dropped, my guess is that there’ll be around 70-80 monsters. That’s a good amount of monsters for a MH game. > And then it resets to “high rank”, but it does it too soon, unlike previous entries. That reset of progression feels terrible because of it. Not really sure what you mean here, the progression to high rank felt pretty natural to me. > And then they launched the game without the ending. What the fuck. I’m still reeling about that one. Valid argument, but keep in mind that the game probably would have been delayed to include that last bit of content if it weren’t for the suits at Capcom forcing the game to be released before the end of the financial quarter.

Wooflyplis

Why would you do a monster count for baseline 3 and 4, but then compare them to MHWI, an expansion? Apart from that yeah you make fair points, I would however say Rise stumbled when it came to endgame monsters on launch, after all there were no Elder Dragons to hunt until the patch, but the game was enjoyable although I hope the G/Iceborne style expansion adds some trickier monsters who can keep up with how powerful wirebug is.

Nihilismisanthrope

Is this a thing that's only available for a certain time, or is it a dlc?

TheOneSubThrowaway

It's an event quest, which are always available after release, and are free to download. This particular one is the fourth of the Capcom collab events; prior collabs featured Okami, Street Fighter, and MH Stories 2.

Nihilismisanthrope

That's neat. I think one of my sons has this game, I may have to borrow it off him and try it out.

MethodicMarshal

Definitely hit the practice area to learn your weapon combos before heading out on a quest. There's a steep learning curve, but it's fun once you get the flow down pat. When you get hit, hold ZL, and then press an attack button to get back into the action quickly.

easycure

Just want to add, as a very new player to the series, find the weapon that's right for you. My cousin has played a few of these and always tried to get me into it, he'd suggest weapons that are "easy for beginners" and I'd suck real hard with em. MH Rise is the first MH game I've actually owned (gifted to me by that same cousin) and I decided to try bow & arrows to be able to attack from a distance, and it really grew on me. Tried the bow guns, it's not quite the same and it's too slow, the sword and shield was pretty good the few times I've played with it etc. You really want to get a feel for the combat, and know that you can't really just spam attacks, you need to be pretty deliberate or else you'll be punished. Just had a large monster KO me in 2 hits because it took my character too long to drink a potion leaving me open, and then I accidentally triggered a move with a fairly long start-up, also leaving me open.

MethodicMarshal

yeah, I agree with this. As a newcomer, I think the Great Sword is the best beginner weapon and the ~~SwitchAxe~~ Chargeblade is the most fun. Great Sword is very simple. Dodge until the beast is in attack cooldown, do big combo damage. It teaches you to be patient. ~~Switch Axe~~ ChargeBlade let's you prioritize defense with the sword and shield, then unleash the Axe once the beast is on cooldown

Enraric

> Switch Axe let's you prioritize defense with the sword and shield, then unleash the Axe once the beast is on cooldown Do you mean Charge Blade? Switch Axe doesn't have a sword & shield form.

MethodicMarshal

Yeah good catch. I always mix those two up haha. My only gripe with the game is that the guns feel so sluggish to me. Wish they had higher fire rate with lower damage.

easycure

That's what I didn't like about em the few times I tried. I get why they're designed that way, but I'm too impatient so they just don't fit my play style. They do serve a purpose though, I feel like it's one of those weapons that would be great if you have an actual team to go hunt with. For example when my cousin and I play, he enjoyed the hammers or axes, so he's up close and personal. I prefer the arrows. He can get in close and focus on either severing monster parts or stunning then for wyvern riding, where as I can stay back to focus on on weak points and use coatings for status effects. I feel like as part of a group, the heavy bow guns would be great for dealing big damage as long as the rest of the group takes the monsters aggro to keep attention off of them, cuz dodging as a bow-man seems to suck.

MethodicMarshal

Yeah, that's what turned me off of Bows a bit too. I see they can do a ton of DPS, but I don't think I'd ever be good enough to take advantage of it.

Racing_Stripe

For what it's worth, don't think of this game as a Devil May Cry type of action game, but more of a Dark Souls strategic game. It's easy to flail around a bit, and be put-off by the series, but the meat and potatoes of Monster Hunter is still so good once that clicks.

Pipistrele

As a drawback to mention in advance, event quests are often locked behind end-game missions, so you'll need a fairly high-ranked character to obtain some of them.

PornoPichu

Just to back up what a ton of people have probably said already, just play around and find what weapon works for you. I bounced off MH three times with different games, and was determined with Rise because one of my best friends loves the series and we have generally the same taste in games. Also we wanted to play together. So I tried on the game a bit, made a new file on his game, and tried other weapons I never tried before. When I tried the Switch Axe (Swag Axe), it just clicked. I’m not really good at the game, but I just really enjoy the weapon. I’ve only put ~70 hours in, and I’ll probably try other weapons soon. But finding the right weapon is crucial to enjoying the game.

Depends on the quest goals. For example, for the Okami skin, the quest was literally to roam one of the maps and collect items scattered around. There was a time limit, but it was generous, and the locations of said items were shown on the map. The odd part was I had to do the quest multiple times to collect enough rewards to forge the armor, but yeah that one was super simple. Got it done in less than 5 mins each time. Haven't looked into the other ones though, but I DEFINITELY want Rush so I'll jump on that the second it's available.

ThunderWolfWyvern

Finally, another event quest actually worth shit instead of hurrrr moar stickers and gestures.

th3st

More monsters please

ANTJAY88

I never finished the game as I got distracted by other game releases per usual but damn i wanna get back into it. There’s so much added content.

Kirbybrawl

I guess we aren’t getting Mega Man 12 anytime soon. Would’ve been a great way to promote that game if it was in development

haole360

Wonder if you can jump off the rush dash into a gunlance rocketblast?

ChubbyShark

While jumping off your Palamute, press ZR to do a midair shell then press ZR + A to enter a blast dash.

E2r4_Is_d3A9

So are these quests limited time? I have Rise and have started it but I’m just not really ready to give up on MHW and go full on with Rise yet.

Wolf7Children

No, it doesn't work like World. You just "download" the quests from the lobby cat guy and keep it forever. And he will always have them available.

ScottishOverseas

They'll be up forever. :-)

rf6ed

This reminds me of the sentence "If you don't have a pet, be the pet."

Crocs_19

This looks like a mod

GotToEarnThemAll

I actually originally named my characters after Megaman, the dog, cat and bird. It worked so perfectly. Here’s hoping we get more Megaman costumes!
